Banshee - We All Pay Eventually - Advance Preview + Dialogue Teasers

The finale is here all too soon, but at least it’s one that I’m sure will be remembered by the fans. Last year we had two separate stories about Lucas and Carrie, set fifteen years apart, being teased out simultaneously in New York. This time round we have two different groups from Banshee looking to settle things by heading into their rival’s camp with guns blazing. Like last season’s finale, we also have the beginnings of what could shape some of next year’s plotlines too.

The flashbacks in Even God Doesn't Know What to Make of You where Hood meet Job for the first time were the furthest back the show has ever been, but this week we delve even deeper into his past. We know that he has former ties to the military from the hints that have been dropped here and there, now we get to see some of the secrets that surround that part of his life.

If you haven’t seen any of the Origins videos then I recommend that you at least watch this one called Birthday, which is set on Hood’s last day in prison, before the finale. It complements the narrative in the flashback, and other scenes you will see in the episode, as well as furthering one of the themes they have been pushing for Hood’s character this season.

Seeing the quiet and courteous Bunker lose it with Jasper and Bryce was an eye opener. It appears that his normal calm disposition could be holding back a lot of pent up rage and resentment at something, or someone. There’s an important piece of information to listen out for during his visit with his brother, Calvin, this week too – was the story he told Alison during the siege at the Cadi the complete truth?

Tom Pelphrey hasn’t had a great deal to do so far, not that he’s without his fans already, but this is the episode where he really gets to test his acting chops. We saw Brock starting to take the newest Deputy under his wing a little last week, which is something that continues after the two of them have a run in with a group from the Brotherhood. Neither of them is involved in the big shootout action sequences in the finale, but nonetheless they share one of the most powerful scenes in the episode.

This leaves us with the two showdowns - Hood and Gordon’s rescue at Camp Genoa and Proctor’s crew teaming up with Hector (Wilson Jermaine Heredia) against the Black Beards in Philly. The attacks happen simultaneously, which I think works well as the edits between the two locations increases the tension. Not that there isn’t the odd moment where black humour is used to lighten the mood too, this is Banshee after all. Sugar probably regrets being the one that comes up with the ingenious means of escape, for example, and Hector loves his new toy just a tad too much!

After the dust settles, the bullets stop flying and the last explosion goes off, who is left standing? Well, according to our Death Poll at the moment it looks like Gordon, Stowe and Job are the ones who won’t be making it to Season 4, but Emily and Carrie aren’t too far behind them. The only certain demise I can tell you about is the loss of Hood’s dear ole truck, may she rest in pieces. For the rest, you will have to tune in on Friday night.

We All Pay Eventually airs Friday March 13 at 10:00 ET/PT on Cinemax. Below is a finale sized bumper edition of dialogue teasers to see you through until then. If you want to have a guess at any of them, I will fill in any of the correct ones before the episode airs. Don’t forget to come back and vote in our poll after the episode and let us know what you thought.

UPDATE: As it's the finale tonight, and I've been so busy and not been able to get online to keep you all updated, I've filled in all the quotes for you. Enjoy the episode tonight, it's been awesome chatting with you all the last ten weeks. Catch you in some other threads on the site over the hiatus, or on Twitter!

  3. I don't know if you can really answer this, but will be there any more references to the mysterious Dalton, who was Hood and Job's old boss?

  4. I can tell you who's playing him, it was announced last August - http://www.spoilertv.com/2014/08/latest-from-tvline-various-shows-5th.html

It's David Harbour from The Newsroom, and he's runs a sort of Black Ops type unit. The rest should be obvious from what's in my preview ;)

  5. That depends on how right the fans voting on the poll are. The only death I've confirmed is the poor old truck, gonna miss her :(

  6. Banshee without Hoon Lee though. It would be a travesty. Take Anastasia already (or whatever she wants to be called now)

  9. “Like I’d forget a face that fucking ugly” Sounds like a Job line ... probably to Sugar

“In order to learn, you have to accept the fact that you don’t know anything. Not yet.” Advice from Proctor to Rebecca maybe

“I came to take you home” Gordon to Carrie

“Good answer, cos if you’d said yes I’d knew you were full of shit” Sounds like a pure Hood line ... I'm guessing to Stowe

“You fight better than you fuck” Easy Carrie to Stowe

“I am guys like that!” Bunker

“No, I’m not the army. Something different” The new guy you mentioned in your review that runs the black op in Hood's flashback

“If we’re gonna make it outta here alive, we’ve gotta stick together” Hood

“I know you can’t see the room right now, so I’ll do my best to describe it for you” No Clue

“Ming made a great fucking sword, but you can never tell the real quality of a blade until it’s used in battle” Protor

“My theory? You just needed to disappear one guy, but you were being thorough, as always.” Job to Hood

  11. Can't wait for tomorrow finale but it's sucha shame it's already the last episode. 10 episodes per year is not enough for me and I don't want even think how it will be next year with only 8. Eh.

Great as always preview Sandi. I only have one question about Rebecca and Kai - will we see only their battle with BB or will be there a scenes after, already in Banshee, that will tell us how their relationship will look like?

About death poll I will write about my picks here:

Richard Murpy - we saw in preview he will fight with Job and this time I think our favourite hacker will kick his ass to the death.

Stowe - although I have strange feelings he might get away after he killed...

Gordon - I know that poster Cinemax published suggests this and I think the same (although he can by just wounded not dead, but from the other hand who would be the third dead person?). If Gordon will die this will totally lead to reborn of Hood/Carrie love, the more both of them will now be the persons who lost someone they loved. But I must say it will be to easy from writers side, just like killing Siobhan because she knew Hood secret - how interesting it would be if Siobhan would be alive and knows Hood secret? Now that would make a ground for great things. And you know what would have amazing "wow factor"? Death of Carrie! I mean I don't want to see her dead, but that would be a bold, bold move from creators side. And would make unusual dynamic between Hood and Gordon. But it is know that Carrie will not die - after all Hood would lose another woman he loved within just a few weeks and I'm not sure if even he would handle it.

Oh and since Aimee is in death poll too is it means she will be in this episode?

    Ok let's go to dialogues:

“Like I’d forget a face that fucking ugly” - Job (to Murphy)?

“In order to learn, you have to accept the fact that you don’t know anything. Not yet.” - Kai to Rebecca?

“I came to take you home” - Gordon to Carrie?

“Good answer, cos if you’d said yes I’d knew you were full of shit” - Stowe to Carrie?

“You fight better than you fuck” - Carrie to Stowe (or vice versa, there is no other way)

“I am guys like that!” - Hood?

“No, I’m not the army. Something different” - Dalton

“If we’re gonna make it outta here alive, we’ve gotta stick together” Sugar to Job?

“I know you can’t see the room right now, so I’ll do my best to describe it for you” - Dalton to Hood?

“Ming made a great fucking sword, but you can never tell the real quality of a blade until it’s used in battle” - Hector

“My theory? You just needed to disappear one guy, but you were being thorough, as always.” - Stowe to Hood?

“You take off this uniform, and you come back to your real family” - Calvin (or someone else from Brotherhood) to Kurt?

  18. I don't know about the rest but, “Like I’d forget a face that fucking ugly”, it's definitely a Job's line.

  22. Cheers Bradley. Yep, it's a great finale. Loved having you aboard this year to chat with too, we're had some great wtf moments as the episodes have come in :)

  23. I know what you mean. I know those 8 episodes will be epic, but it is gonna be hard still! Hoping that Greg's new show will ease some of that pain though.

There's no Rebecca after the battle scene I'm afraid, but Kai and Lucas do share a moment. In fact it's the closing scene of the season ;)

You have eight right, nice one! :)

Lol yes he does tend to take my mind off of teh upsetting things :D

  25. lol you changed your icon from Dean to Bunker.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Oh pitty about Rebecca, but I do hope we will get a clue how their relationship will go in S4. And that closing scene sounds fantastic. Me think it might be Hood going to Kai to ask him for help in rescuing Job? Or other way, Kai going after/wanted to kill Hood.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Hmm, Dean? It was King Louis from The Musketeers before it was Bunker, I had a slightly different one of Bunker for a week or two before this one of him though. The only Dean I can think of is James Dean...actually, that would be a pretty cool pic.

  28. I wonder if I'm confusing you with someone or its was long time ago, but most likely you are right.
