“THE TRAVELER” | Described as a “Han Solo-esque rogue who gets by with his charm, this hero hails from the future, and has journeyed back in time on a secret mission. His razor-sharp wit hides the pain of a man who has lived through serious conflict. He also harbors many secrets, always leaving both his teammates and the audience unsure of his true allegiances.
“FEMALE WARRIOR” | This twentysomething Latina is pretty but unassuming, book smart and socially awkward by day. But by night, when she hears the cry of battle, her fury is ignited and she becomes a fierce warrior — so much so, that sometimes she can become a threat to others.
“MYSTERY HERO” | An African-American male in his twenties will fill the role of a regular, street smart guy who unexpectedly gains powers, and then, as part of the team, regularly quips about the insanity of the situations.

Can't wait for the casting of these characters.Just add robbie in the mix, please CW!
ReplyDeleteTraveler = Drew Fuller
ReplyDeleteFemale Warrior = Bianca Lawson, Tristin Mays
Mystery Hero = Evan Ross, Keith Powers
What do you think? :))
Hmm. They've previously mentioned that these characters have not appeared in live action before.
ReplyDeleteThe Traveler could be Rip Hunter. Booster Gold appeared in Smallville which cuts him out.
Female Warrior is a tough one...Hawkgirl? Could be Rose/Thorn too with her split personalities.
Mystery Hero could be Static but there's some rights issues. Not sure if WB/DC still own the TV rights or if just the publishing rights reverted. It's probably Black Lightning though.
Apparently Caity Lotz was asked who she will be playing in the spin off and she said she wasn't allowed to say or something like that which leads me to believe it will definitely be some version of Sara. I think the spin off will take place in an alternate universe in which Sara never died, possibly one created by Barry's time travel as widely speculated. I am not sure how exactly Barry will connect with Sara but they will probably create some butterfly effect there at some point.
ReplyDeleteI think he is not being added because there are probably plans for him to stick around The Flash. They are building him and Caitlin up as a long term thing, I don't think they would want to split them into two different shows.
ReplyDeleteIf this show really takes place in an alternate reality, what I think will happen is that Dr. Stein will disappear permanently in the current Flash universe and Firestorm will be permanently played by Robbie Amell. In the alternate universe, for some reason we still don't know, it is Dr. Stein's body that emerges and so it is Ronnie who disappears. There would still be a Firestorm in both worlds, just with a different body, which actually isn't such a hard sell.
ugh Static please no! is Rip Hunter a Speedster and a hero?
ReplyDeletei guess that's a lesson Barry will learn: when you mess with time travel a Butterfly Effect is right next door. But if Sara never died does that mean she never becomes The Canary?
ReplyDeletethese characters sound so cool! especially "The Traveler"
ReplyDeletei hope they don't do the alternate universe thing, i want this show to exist in the same timeline as Flarrow
ReplyDeleteBianca Lawson in the Flarrow universe, hmm i like it
ReplyDeleteHe's not a speedster but he is a superhero. He's a time-traveler that resolves problems in the timeline and across dimensions.
ReplyDeleteShe was already The Canary when she died so I am not sure what do you mean. Do you mean Laurel?
ReplyDeleteThat makes sense. In a way, that's even better.I don't think i would be able to watch a show with Ray palmer as one of the central character,no matter how much i love sara. So,if robbie stays on The Flash and becomes series regular next season.i won't have watch the spin-off altogether.Win-win situation for me!
ReplyDeleteThat would probably mean resurrecting Sara though which would be a strange thing. I am not opposed to it but this season of Arrow has revolved so much around her death that it would feel all a bit too odd I am afraid. And Sara has already came back from the dead once so even scenes like her reunion with Oliver, Quentin and Laurel would be a repeat of what we had in Season 2. I am sure I would still enjoy the hell out of them though, especially because of how much I love the character, but I am not sure if it is the best option for the show. She was too big of a character on the show and her death too big of a plot I feel.
ReplyDeleteHowever, I don't think it would be impossible to have crossovers even with the shows in different universes. They could be aware of the existence of the other reality and find a way to crossover through realities (probably using Barry's powers) if they needed help from the others or something like that. Fringe pulled alternate realities in a superbly way (by far my favorite part of the show) and there were frequent crossovers once the second world was discovered.
I don't care for Ray one way or the other, he is just there for me, totally passable character imo. So while he isn't part of my excitement about the spin off, everything and everyone else yes, particularly Sara, who I adored.
ReplyDeleteIf "The Traveler" is indeed Rip Hunter then the theory of an Alternate Earth/Multiverse version of Sara really beomes possible.
ReplyDeleteThis would actually in a way pay tribute to the pre-Crisis origin of the
first Black Canary, who was from Earth-2.
Imagine a Sara from a
version of Earth were the Lance sisters roles were reversed. Sara was
the one dating Playboy!Oliver and Laurel was the one who went on the
yacht (and is probably now dead to this alternate Sara). Transfer her to this reality and they get Sara back, but Sara without all the baggage of having cheated with Oliver. Indeed the weird feeling between the new Lance sisters (both thought the other as dead) and between Oliver/AltSara would be a reason why she would go away on the spinoff.
"THE TRAVELER" There's going to be characters from the future?? SO COOL. Is it just me or does he sound like Bart Allen?
ReplyDelete(Still won't watch it though)
Rip Hunter is the best guess I've heard so far
ReplyDeleteAnd off to Google I go.....
ReplyDeleteThe traveller sounds really interesting. Since I have zero knowledge of comics I am going to google all the character names said down here.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds cool. But I am not familiar with the comics at all, so can I ask you to briefly explain me who the Rip Hunter is supposed to be and what is powers are? And Crisis thing too? Sorry to bother, I hope it isn't too hard:P It's just that I can't really comment a lot on your theory without knowing other than saying that it sounds pretty cool.
ReplyDeleteI'm really unsure of the show as of now but I trust the writers so I'm going to be as optimistic as I can be....
ReplyDeleteSo in that case both will have lived almost same lives and be different versions of Black Canary. If that happens I can hear the comparisons between them happening now itself. At least now there is a markable difference between each character's journey.
ReplyDeleteThe Traveler - Buster Gold?
ReplyDeleteThe Warrior - Rose Canton or even a female Jamie Reyes so Blue Beetle?
Mystery Hero - Well, Static or at a pinch Jon Stewart trying to learn how to be green lantern?
If the Blue Beetle and Booster Gold turns up could we have a Reach storyline? But could the Flarrow universe cope with a storyline that big?
Rip Hunter is a time-traveling superhero from the future who works to ensure the safety of the timestream.
ReplyDeleteOkay, going to try and distill down comic book history without writing a novell on the subject.
'Crisis' is DC's go to word for some form of world-altering crossover event. Usually when comic book fans refer to Pre and Post-Crisis it's in reference to 1986's Crisis on Infinite Earths.
Comic books history is generally divided into Ages, The first is the Golden Age (1930's-1950's) then the Silver Age (1956 - 1970), the Bronze Age (1970-mid 80's) and the Modern Age (mid 80's - present)
To explain the introduction of rebooted heroes such as Flash and Green Lantern during the Silver Age, the old versions from the Golden Age were said to reside on a paralell Earth known as Earth-2, thus creating what is known as the DC Multiverse. Over the years DC's continuity became incredible complex, many times contradicting itself. The "Crisis on Infinite Earth" was their eventual sollution as the universe and ton of character histories were rewritten, characters (such as Barry Allen or Supergirl) were killed or simply ceased to exist.
So when I say Pre-Crisis Black Canary, I'm refering to how the characters history was before this world altering event.
Hmm, yes. The exact details of this alternate Sara theory might still need some work depending on what role the producers intend her to take. If she never was Canary at all in order to not undermine Laurel's role, she could take on another persona such as Manhunter(with Kate Spence being dead in the Flarrow universe).
ReplyDeleteTraveler can't be Booster since it was previously mentioned that the character hasn't appeared on TV before. I assume that just means live action but Booster appeared on Smallville.
ReplyDeleteWhen was it said that the character hadn't been on TV before?
ReplyDeleteThe only other time travellers that come back with missions I can think of off the top of my head that fits the description are all members of the Flash or reverse Flash families or Rip Hunter who kind of ties in with Booster Gold seeing how isn't he his son?
It was said elsewhere by the producers that the three 'new' characters on the spinoff would not have apperead in live action before.
ReplyDeleteI always take that as a pinch of salt. New characters not seen on TV can quickly turn into characters we've seen briefly in completely different incarnations so the producers count them as new. Could just be instead of 'Booster Gold' we get a version of Michael Carter just without the Gold antics and kind of combine him with some of the traits of Rip Hunter.
ReplyDeleteSame with the Blue Beetle if they go with a female Jamie Reyes if they don't go with Thorn.
That way we get three new characters because we haven't seen them like that before. Anyways never rated that episode of Smallville.
Considering Ray Palmer was orginally supposed to be Ted Kord/Blue Beetle but DC said "No, we have other plans for that character" it's safe to say any version of Blue Beetle is out as well.
ReplyDeleteDepends on the plans they had for Beetle.
ReplyDeleteIf Atom is the main character for the spin off, Palmer working with Kord could lead into meeting new characters including one who becomes the scarab wearing blue beetle which would make the time travel stuff easier.
Right now it is all conjecture, Diggle didn't turn out to be Jon Stewart but there was discussion about Green Lantern, which means somewhere in that office Green Lantern in the Flarrow universe was brought up. They are probably flinging lots of ideas around and seeing what ones stick.
It was mentioned in the Deadline article with the original announcement about the spin-off
ReplyDeletehttp://deadline.com/2015/02/arrow-flash-spin-off-cw-new-superhero-series-1201382466/
"Additionally, in a tidbit that should get fans fired up, I have learned the new project will include three major DC Comics characters who have never appeared in a TV series."
no do you mean if a Butterfly effect happened would Oliver and Sara had never gotten on the boat or do you mean Malcolm never drugged Thea and she would be alive after the season 3 premiere?
ReplyDeletegeez you hate Brandon Routh THAT much? well it would be more Booster Gold actually
ReplyDeleteBooster Gold and Blue Beetle were on Smallville so it wont be them
ReplyDeleteoh so he's more of an Observer like in Fringe before the ones after the good ones took over the Earth. They watched and documented events and weren't supposed to interfere, is it like that?
ReplyDeleteIf they start playing with timelines/Butterfly effects anything is possible, every single action the characters have taken have something alternate that could happen instead.
ReplyDeletehmm yeah i guess and you're right about Fringe they did that very well but wouldn't it just be easier to resurrect Sara and have crossovers that don't require using Barry?
ReplyDeletedon't get me wrong it'd be cool to have a Fringe-like universe but i'd like for it to be in the same universe
ReplyDeletemaybe it's Green Lantern
ReplyDeletemaybe one of them is Green Lantern
ReplyDeleteWho said anything about Brandon? I think everyone on this site knows how much I loathe the RAY character but I NEVER said I hate Brandon. I hate Ray whether he's on Arrow or on another show. For some reason every time someone says that they hate Ray or criticize the character you turn the comment into a Brandon hating accusation. You have to stop doing that.
ReplyDeleteThe problem with full on resurecting Sara is that it makes all the events of Arrow season 3 basically meaningless as her death has been the major driving factor behind events. It also undermines Laurel's journey as Black Canary as Laurel haters would keep harping on about the "True Canary". The only way they can get Caity Lotz/Sara but not Sara/The Canary (if that makes sense) is the alternate universe route.
ReplyDeleteNone of the descriptions above really fit with any known Green Lantern
ReplyDeleteIt depends on what "easier" is. They have to make sure death still has a meaning on the show or else the stakes would be drastically reduced (what would be the point of worrying in a fight if they could just be resurrected?).
ReplyDeleteI don't actually know. If they go with my theory (and half the internet I believe), Barry would cause it when he traveled back in time so there would have to be something that he did when he went back that somehow affected the events that led to Sara's death. Could be a number of things.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for that, hero of the day!
ReplyDeleteBarry messing up the timeline would be a pretty cool season 1 finale cliffhanger. Then in season 2 they can introduce this "Traveler" character to help him set things right again.
ReplyDeleteooh i like that!
ReplyDeleteah i guess when people hate the character i assume they hate the actor. So you DO like Brandon Routh?
ReplyDeleteoh right! duh my bad LOL
ReplyDeleteHave you read infinte crisis yet they might steal some of the story for this show, since if all of us throwing wild thoeries to make sease of the story if sara going to be of it. I'm just say it could be a tower that can change the past
ReplyDeleteWhat little I know of Jon Stewart I don't think he's very known for wisecracks and quips though. Could be wrong though.
ReplyDeleteNow that's cryptic
ReplyDeleteThat's a good theory. I also read that it could be Barry changing time that brings Sara back. I just finished the first issue.
ReplyDeleteI don't really know that much about him to personally hate or love him but I'm not a big fan of his acting.
ReplyDeleteWell with three superheros shows you would think one of them would have a bad guy from a different earth
ReplyDeleteBooster Gold, Static Shock and.....I don't know.
ReplyDeleteBut, I really hope Booster Gold doesn't show up.....it's not the same with showing BG without Blue Beetle.
Wally West? Booster Gold could be a cool one, but he appeared in Smallville... Mystery Hero could also be Static Shock?
ReplyDeleteI don't know where this spin-off is going... I wanted just an Atom spin-off. Don't know what to make of all these super heroes all in one... Could be too much crowded.
There's a slim chance It could be be Booster Gold, Arrow/Flash is a different ""universe"" than Smallville, I would like the mystery hero to be Mr Terrific but I think they would leave the brain hero to Atom/Ray Palmer.
ReplyDeleteThe first one is definitely Booster Gold
ReplyDeleteSome form of or variation on Justice League International is a very good theory. Many of the supposed characters are variants on JLI members. I just don't think they'll use the actual word "Justice League" in order to not confuse with the upcoming movie franchise.
ReplyDeleteAnd yeah, Caity Lotz's role is the biggest mystery right now...
Whatever mantle Sara takes if the backstory of both Laurel and new Sara is the same there will be unfair comparison. Both has same trauma, both has almost same time period of training. But you can guarantee CL will get more cool fight sequences because she is more trained to do this stuff. People will analyse each of their fight scenes, each of the character's decisions. Honestly I don't want a Laurel clone as Sara.
ReplyDeleteAll I know at this point about this show is I want CL as Sara or not at all. I don't want to see her portray another character in the same universe.
I think the Traveler is Booster Gold, the female warrior is some Amazon warrior and the mystery hero could be Static Shock or black lightning
ReplyDeleteIf "The Traveler" doesn't turn out to be Booster Gold I'll eat my hat...
ReplyDeleteHave not appeared on TV or in none of the currently running shows? Because seriously the Traveler has Booster Gold written all over him!
ReplyDeleteAnd YES! for Static. I was drawing a blank who that could be and now I just had the biggest "DUH!" moment in my life! Thank you for that! :)
it's not Booster Gold because he was on Smallville and they said that the three new characters would be characters that have NEVER appeared on live-action befpre
ReplyDeletethe traveler is not Booster Gold he was on smallville its someone have not appeared on live action TV
ReplyDeletesorry but that hat better have some seasoning on it LOL, it won't be Booster Gold because he was on Smallville
ReplyDeleteMaybe they all just forgot that Booster Gold was on Smallville, he was pretty forgettable and his episode aired right before the series finale.
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, thanks for the reminder
ReplyDelete
