Thanks to Richard for the heads up.
Whilst not an official renewal as we've not yet received the official press releases, this is as good as it gets.
Investors have stumped up €45m to fund the fourth series of Vikings, the History Channel’s hit drama, before a tax-break deadline.
The record funding round was closed on February 12, a day before the Revenue Commissioners ended the Section 481 tax break. It is understood the money will fund 16 episodes of the series, which is largely filmed at Ashford Studios in Co Wicklow and in the surrounding countryside.
Preparatory work has started for the new series and filming is expected to start in May. It brings total tax-break investment in Vikings to more than €120m across four series.

YES!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWoo Hooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteNot unexpected but: YES!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd we might get 16 episodes in the fourth season? Well, the more Vikings the better, even though I really like the short season format. Hopefully more episodes works out with all of the actors.....
I'll wait till I see if my lovely Athelstan survives this season - so far, it doesn't look good, considering George Blagden's involvement in Versailles - then and only then will I celebrate.
ReplyDeleteYay! I still need to watch the premiere, though.
ReplyDeleteYes nice one.
ReplyDeleteYay!! Great news!
ReplyDeleteDelighted!!!
ReplyDelete16 episodes goes well with Travis Fimmel mentioning that they go back to Ireland in April already as opposed to late May previous years.
ReplyDeleteBy Odin's beard! That is some great news, and 16 episodes to boot? That's like 60% more Vikings than usual.
ReplyDeleteBest news possible! But I too fear for Athelstan, considering the actor's involvement in the other series and especially after last episode when Ragar called him his " John the Baptist" and we know how that one ended... I love the show and I love almost every character and want them all to return.
ReplyDeleteGreat news! I'll never get tired of Vikings. And 16 episodes!!!That's a lot compared to the other seasons.
ReplyDeleteI know that judging by his instagram, for a while he was doing the two shows back and forth. So it remains to be seen I guess! Hoping for the best though.
ReplyDeleteI realize it's not official but ............Thank The God's !!
