Well, since there are only two episodes left this season, I'll say what I would like next season: more Katrina Crane (NOT evil) and Nick Hawley plus Orion popping up occasionally as an anti-hero serving his own interests and driving Abbie and Ichabod crazy.
Off the list: more flashback appearances by Ben Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, and Abigail Adams.
Frank, Jenny and Nick. Frank and Jenny don't get enough screen time they don't even appear in some episodes. I really liked the dynamic Nick brought to the show. Honourable mention: Henry, but mainly because I love John Noble.
I definitely do NOT like nor want evil Katrina. I love both Abbie and Katrina, and I think that Ichabod benefits from the distinct perspectives that having these two very unique women in his life affords him.
As for Orion, I see him as an "anti-hero instead of a full-on villain" because while he no longer seems to be serving Heaven and the Lord anymore, he doesn't seem to be working for the evil side either. Orion just strikes me as a free agent doing his own thing, but that has the potential to muck up Abbie and Ichabod's job as witnesses.
Jenny! She's been truly underused this season, and whenever she pops up in to scene I'm quite happy.
I'd also like to see Katrina evolve into a full fledge character, I think the show is missing that. May it be by make up or breaking up with Ichabod it's time to end their drama and let each other grow up independantly
Featured More Character Chooses: 1) Abraham - because without the "Headless Horseman" there is no "SLEEPY HOLLOW"! 2) Jenny Mills - she is the "outlaw" sister who will go "bad - @$$ commando" in a heartbeat, is completely invested in the cause/fight (stand with her sister/witness Abbie, death of her/their mother/the ruination of her young life - personal/revenge). I've always felt the introduction of Nick Hawley (dashing male/bad boy with perfect hair and smile) was unnecessary and insulting to the Jenny Mills character. 3) Carmilla Pines - one of the best villain/monster characters (dialog vs. non - speaking) introduced and a slight redemption for the introduction of the Nick Hawley character (at least his backstory is interesting). Honorable Mention and Runner - Up: 1) Orion - great backstory with the "Horseman" and character twist on being a "Rogue Angel" who has decided to fight and win the war his own way and at any cost. The development between Orion and Abbie was also good, because Abbie really wanted to place her confidence/faith/trust in Orion along with the strain it put on Abbie and Ichabod's relationship due to the way things ended. 2) Solomon Kent/Warlock - great villain, because he wasn't a mere monster with a "weakness" that Abbie/Ichabod could exploit and the "Spellcaster" was the first episode where the "Katrina" character was relevant. 4 THE SLEEPY HEAD NATION, I am Nobody!!!
I'd love to see more of Jenny and Hawley.. Jenny is easily one of my favorite characters on the show and it think she has great chemistry with Abbie, Frank and Ichabod. Hawley was off to a great start when they first introduced him. Also, his light-hearted roguish demeanor made him fit perfectly with the other characters......especially his scenes with Ichabod. I also liked the idea of a romance between him and Abbie, but then for some reason the writers backpedaled with that Anyway, it looks like his character will be getting less and less screentime, which is a shame.
Generally, I like all of the the characters in this series. More of Frank and Henry Parrish is always a good thing and Orion is another complex character with a lot of potential.. Katrina has potential, but what they're doing with her character isn't entirely working....yet. The headless horseman is OK, but his character lost its impact when they started trying to humanize him. His character was far more effective when he was headless to viewers and couldn't talk and now with Moloch gone, there really isn't anyone particularly scary.
Henry Parrish, of course! I cannot understand why they wrote him away for so long this season. I'm so enjoying John Noble as the bad boy! :) Then Abraham because -as someone (nobody :p) said before- there is no Sleepy Hollow without the Headless Horseman! Also I wonder how Abraham could be human again and escape from his curse. I like this plot and I'd like to see more about Abraham and Ichabod relationship. I also liked Hawley for the humor he added.
I love both Abbie and Katrina, and I think that Ichabod benefits from the distinct perspectives that having these two very unique women in his life affords him. Agree wholeheartedly :). And I've also said before that I'd love to see Abbie and Katrina working together more often, too. In many ways, their personalities are noticeably different, but I think those differences could be used to their advantage if they teamed up. And in terms of similarities, they're both very stubborn and have an inner toughness about them-I think they could relate to each other better than they think sometimes :).
Yes to Frank and Jenny. I love the Abbie/Jenny moments and will happily take more of those, and Frank is cool and I want to see him and watch how he deals with and/or tries to fight off whatever Henry's doing to him.
I miss John Cho! He was great; bring back Andy Brooks!
I'd like more Jenny and Irving. At least bring them back to their supporting status as they were in season one. I didn't appreciate their scant appearances the first half of the season. I like John Noble, but not when he is whiny Henry. Also, where's Headless? He's not as scary now that we know who he is, but how can we have Sleepy Hollow without him? The actor says he will not be back this season, so I'm hoping they get someone new to take on the role of Death if Abraham is vacating!! Or at least bring in another horseman because this is freaking Sleepy Hollow!
The historical and Colonial period details were what initially drew me to the series; so, I definitely want more of these. I agree. We do need to see more women "like Abigail". : ) I'd like to see them introduce Dolley Madison too. The writers would have to push up the flashbacks to the1790's to the 1810's to make it work. I think that Dolley was another interesting First Lady of the era, and like Katrina, she had a Quaker upbringing.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Henry, even though he is bad I still really enjoy seeing him.
ReplyDeleteHenry Parrish, Jenny Mills, and Nick Hawley.

Hawley!
ReplyDeleteI used to love Katrina, now I really don't understand the point of her character.
How about characters would you don't like to see featured more in this/any season: Katrina
ReplyDeleteMore of Jenny & nick.
ReplyDeleteLess of Katrina, not at all if possible!
I believe Katrina needs more fleshing out. Henry needs more air time too. Abbie's Sister Jenny should be more seen too.
ReplyDeleteWe need some more Headless Horseman riding at night - after all, that is the tale from which our beloved ( by me,at least ) version has sprung.

I agree with everything you said about Hawley.
ReplyDeleteJenny always, Katrina (with the group, not separated), and Hawley for humor.

Yes to more founding fathers and women like Abigail :). I like when they bring the historical aspects in.

Jenny, Frank, and Orion for me. (starting to get over Henry).
