Is Patrick Jane confronting a possible real psychic in The Mentalist - Byzantium? A young man claiming to have psychic powers offers his help to the FBI in solving a pair of murders, but when he leads them to additional victims, Jane and the team begin to suspect that he is in fact the killer they’re hunting.
There's no such things as psychic. If there's one thing no one can't forget is this Jane's line. He used to be a con man, acting like a psychic, just to cheat, tangle and bribe people, but this attitude caused him to lose his family. Gabriel, the fake psychic here, is acting like Jane used to, even tho he's a bit odd and weird - look at his outfit, so out of that place, pretending to be someone he's not. After all, everybody lies. However, when Gabriel collapsed and Wylie went to help him, I had a thrill when he said Michelle is ok, even without mentioning her name.
The case of the week was a bit bloody and creepy. We all know what's going to happen, but have you ever watched Zodiac, the 2007 movie with Robert Downey Jr and Mark Ruffalo? Well, the murder in the opening scene reminds me that. The Zodiac killed couple in that way. Also, Gabriel found hang up was really creepy and intense. Like in a horror movie perhaps.
Jane & Lisbon reunited in this episode. He has been spending his days alone in the airstream, and Lisbon had to get him arrested to make him come back to work. I was expecting Lisbon to be more mad at him, but I admit, the scene in which she mentioned the times she tried to call him made me laugh. "The third time I thought he's dead." I also guess, those two don't need to fight anymore because it only takes one look into each other's eyes to feel safe and a home. Anyway, Jane needed some time to think about what he did and he DID think about indeed. The way he found himself awake in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by some green, ducks and a little house, have all those elements make him think about what's next move for he and Teresa?
Honorable mention to Cho have Lisbon's back when he offers to call Jane.
Next week it's the series finale for The Mentalist. Despite the wedding we all know it's going to happen, what's next for Jane and Lisbon? How about the new serial killer coming?

I want a happy ending. I also want to know what happens to our favorite characters in the future.
ReplyDeleteyeah me too! :)
ReplyDeleteI truly want a really happy ending for them. And perhaps a baby so that would be ''3'' members in their family.I also hope Patrick and Teresa will be less insecure about their relationship and they'll really dedicate themselves to each other. He has to understand Teresa's feelings for her job and find a less direct way to convince her to stop working in FBI.And certainly Teresa has to chill out about her job and enjoy her life outside it with the love of her life.
ReplyDeleteTheir love is great and lasted over the years so I guess they were just meant to be together.
Iam very scared. Simon Baker wrote the last scene and we all know, he wanted tragic ending. Iam little bit suspicious, sorry. :) I hope there won ´t be another Red Wedding like in Game of Thrones.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean.He said that he wrote the last scene but he didn't write the script. So they had already written the script and he just gave the idea how they should end it.That doesn't mean it would be a tragic ending. At least that's I want to believe and hope for it.
ReplyDeleteI would be very dissapointed if the end is tragic.
I agree, I highly doubt the last scene will be tragic in any way. In fact given the pictures I think the last scene will be the one where it is just the 2 of them looking across the lake at the wedding party. Throughout the series the image of them sitting on a bench has been prevalent, so would be fitting if they were chatting about their future sitting there....
ReplyDeleteI would also love a glimpse at the future - a happy one for all, but believe it won't go further than the wedding at the end. Which will be joyful and fun in itself and leave us all feeling satisfied! Thanks for the reviews Diana, always enjoy reading them. I know it must be hard to write as we're all now just counting down the days until next week's finale! But I thought this episode was great. Just classic great writing and acting.
ReplyDeleteWe'll have our happy endings, and I don't know why people think otherwise lol
ReplyDeleteThis is The Mentalist not Game of Thrones lmao Simon Baker always says he wanted everyone dead in the end, but c'mon, it won't be like that. Heller promised a season 7 of "The Mentalist" (focused on Patrick Jane and his relationship with Teresa Lisbon and his purpose on moving on in life), and judging by the promo stills for the series finale, I don't know why people shouldn't trust him.
ReplyDeleteI hope you're right because because if you don't.....
ReplyDeleteI don't know I guess I should stop watcing tv series with passion.
I can't stand so many deaths not anymore and The Mentalist had lots of them.
Thanks for the review : ) it was another great episode . I liked too the scene with Cho and Lisbon, it means he knows what's going on between her and Jane IMO
ReplyDeleteI look forward to the next week but I am also sad because it will be the end of a beautiful adventure . Thats's why like everyone, I want a happy endind .
I hope you have right and serial killer don´t ruin the wedding :)))
ReplyDeleteOfc he won't ;)
ReplyDeletePerhaps the only one who is going to be killed in the end is the serial killer.
ReplyDeleteExactly lol
ReplyDeleteThanks Jessica for reading :) I know I'm gonna miss those reviews and all the comments below here.
