The network has given a pilot green light to the project, from Desperate Housewives and Devious Maids creator/executive producer Marc Cherry, Under The Dome showrunner Neal Baer and Blue Bloods executive producer Dan Truly.
Written by the trio, Cheerleader Death Squad is described as “Heathers meets Alias“ and centers on a disgraced CIA agent-turned-teacher at an elite Washington D.C. prep school. When he realizes that his students have high-level access through personal connections, he trains a select few to be his eyes and ears into the world of international espionage and help him earn his way back into the agency.

I'm thinking so ludicrous it ends up being amazing.
ReplyDeletethis could be really good or really really bad.
ReplyDeleteWeird title, but could be a fun series...
ReplyDeletecould be fun as long as they make it cheesy and light like Chuck was
ReplyDeleteI think I'd like this crazy idea more if someone other than Marc Cherry was involved.
ReplyDeletei pictured something like this when i read the premise http://images4.fanpop.com/image/photos/22800000/screen-caps-totally-spies-22803126-768-576.jpg
ReplyDeleteIt's likely some type of code name.
ReplyDeleteLol.. I dont even know what to think of this.
ReplyDeleteThis sound interesting who I like to see in this show
ReplyDeleteBritt Robertson
AnnaSophia Robb
Mackenzie Rosman
Kay Panabaker
Abby Ross
Kris Alderson
Brittany Underwood
Camille Winbush
Britt Robertson yes please!
ReplyDeleteI could actually see this working. The CW is getting up in the big leagues with producers this year. Pedowitz is the best thing that ever happened to that network.
ReplyDeleteInteresting, I'lll watch anything Marc cherry does.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds horrible. The title doesn't even seem to match what the show is about. Desperate Housewives will be Marc Cherry's only hit.
ReplyDeleteI actually like the title.
ReplyDeleteDevious Maids begs to differ.
ReplyDeleteThis could be soooooo bad... A teacher teaching a group of teen spyes? Yeah, sure... That doesn't bad at all.
ReplyDeleteOMG I just posted pretty much the exact same thing!!!!
ReplyDeleteHe is undoubtedly an amazing exec and has really been the salvation for the network. And truth? He actually aims for good content... Not gonna lie... I kinda admire and respect the guy!
ReplyDeleteI think there's some nice campy fun that can be had in this show. If it makes sure to have fun and not take itself too seriously...
ReplyDeleteI like her, but every CW show she plays in gets cancelled. :(
ReplyDeleteI really admire and respect Pedowitz too he seems like a genuinely good guy who also knows how to do his job, the cw needs to thank this guy for saving them.
ReplyDeleteThe network managed to get its first golden globe win from his decisions , I love that Gina Rodriguez thanked him for taking a chance on her in her speech.
Pedowitz has made history at the network.
Hmm this is a so Idk if im gonna watch but i hope it helps cw get known

ReplyDeletehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rKDvH2qChj0
Kinda sounds like Totally Spies...
ReplyDeleteI am not sure this would be good. Teenage spies? But what do I know. I slammed Jane the Virgin before it aired and it just got a Golden Globe and is critic's baby. I have faith in CW and its new contents. Mark Pedowitz is smart.
ReplyDeletei gotta really know who is the one making this awful titles for a show?
ReplyDeletejane the virgin and now THIS.(not mocking the storyline just the titles)
come on cw u r better than this.
Kay is a zoologist now.
ReplyDeleteI'm tired of teenagers.
ReplyDeleteYes, yes, yes, exactly the pilot i wanted
ReplyDeleteNow if they order Shakespeare's Sisters too i will be very happy
This sounds a bit like Nikita, which I loved! Will probably watch this if it gets to series.
ReplyDeleteI happen to adore Cherry's titling abilities. The only thing I have an issue with is the maids in DM aren't very devious at all. But still, great name for an over the top dramedy soap.
ReplyDeleteI dare you to think of a single more fitting and amazing title for it than Jane the Virgin.
ReplyDeleteI really hope Emily Kinney (Beth from Walking Dead) could join this
ReplyDeleteI'd like to see Naya ( Santana - Glee ) Rivera, Natalie ( Cassie - The Originals ) Dreyfuss, Emily ( Beth - The Walking Dead ) Kinney and Kylie Jenner get the lead roles.
ReplyDeleteAlso I'd like to see the "disgraced CIA agent-turned-teacher at an elite Washington D.C. prep school" be a woman insead of a man and be plaed b Sarah Michelle Gellar .. or .. Eliza Dushku
The CW keeps ordering same for ABC guess OUAT & TVD won't live much more. TVD got saved for this year but don't know about 2016... Praying for OUAT now.
ReplyDeleteBit like the movie D.E.B.S
ReplyDeleteGot a feeling like they are going for the big producers instead of the good shows.
ReplyDeleteSounds even more like Gossip Girls meet Alias.
OUAT is going to be around for at least another 2 seasons, I wouldn't worry.
ReplyDeleteI definitely agree with Sarah Gellar, Naya and mostly Emily Kinney !
ReplyDeleteBut not with Cassie from Originals, the actress is pretty bad
Its the CW...
ReplyDeleteI was relying on The CW to give good pilot orders since the other networks let me down but they've been really disappointing :/ It doesn't look like I'll have any new shows next season.
ReplyDeleteYeah but teens are what they do. With their history they should have more right now.
ReplyDeleteThey have been focusing on people in their twenties and thirties more lately.
ReplyDeleteI personally liked Cassie.
ReplyDeleteI am talking more about her real life personally then the character she played on The Originals.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ItsbHKxFGYc
Exactly the pilot I wanted! Now it needs a great cast!
ReplyDeleteIf it doesn't take itself too seriously (like Heathers didn't) then it could be good, if it does then it might be too cheesy to work.
ReplyDeleteYES. GIVE THEM MASSIVE CHAINSAWS TOO. OMG THIS COULD BE DA STUFF
ReplyDeleteSpeak for yourself.
ReplyDeleteUgh. Everyone realises that the top show of The CW/WB ever was Buffy which started as a teenage show?
ReplyDeleteHow man 'cheerleader' should be apar of he 'death squad ? Three, four, or five ?
ReplyDeleteMarc Cherry, uhu uhu!
ReplyDeleteI like it I didn't even think of them I was mainly naming actresses who I haven't seen on TV in a while
ReplyDeleteEh he is capable of doing campy fun well... And this show has campy fun written all over it.
ReplyDeleteThe idea looks promising and i have faith in Marc cherry but TBH this type of show doesn't fit with CW at all.Let's wait for the casting.BTW,change this awful title ASAP.
ReplyDeleteSo i am probably the only one who loves the title ... i feel like it fits the premise very vell
ReplyDeleteWhat is with all the new shows? Does that mean next year they are cancelling a lot?
ReplyDeleteI did, that's why I said 'I'.
ReplyDelete3-5!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure that is a good show for most, but I only made it to the third episode. People have different taste.
ReplyDeleteNo, This is just a pilot so one episode is made to see if the heads of the CW are into turning it into a series.
ReplyDeleteSince Arrow, Jane the Virgin, Reign, Supernatural, The 100, The Flash, The Originals, and The Vampire Diaries have been picked up already for next season that only leaves a few spots left ( Beauty and the Beast, Hart of Dixie, iZombie, and The Messengers ) for the pilots that are picked to go to series unless the CW is setting things up for their summer show 'campaign' for 2016 and then maybe 6 to 8 shows will be picked to go to series as summer shows..
Yeah Sarah Michelle Gellar as the ex CIA agent and somehow get Alyson Hannigan on this show because I miss then on screen together
ReplyDeleteThey gave up on sitcoms. Jane the Virgen is a comedy (and a golden globe winner in top of that)
ReplyDeleteThis show sounds like it could be a hit but they really need to make the ex CIA agent a female ( Sarah Michelle Gellar, Eliza Dushku, or Yvonne Strahovski ) instead of a male and change the 'prep school' to Washington State University.
ReplyDeleteI honestly don't like the title, but I would give it a try, it may be fun
ReplyDeleteI don't understand why The CW gave up on comedy. They never order any 30 minute sitcoms.
ReplyDeleteESPIONAGE + PREP SCHOOL= Prespionage Elite.
ReplyDeleteor like #prespionage
Anyway I like the concept.
I miss it so much though.
ReplyDeleteI hope for 4, They have 5 students on HTGAWM and i feel like it is too much
ReplyDeleteNatlie Dreyfuss was quite enetertaining in Rita Rocks, but completely misused in TO.
ReplyDeleteI like the title and the initial premise, but Marc Cherry and the guy behind Under the Dome?
ReplyDeleteNot sure about those two being associated since both shows were TERRIBLE!
Maybe casting will help me make up my mind....
They always pick up around 6 scripts to go to Pilot, then pick a few of those pilots to go to series depending on how they turn out and how much room they have on the schedule. They have already renewed most of their current line up and still have 2 shows to air.
ReplyDeleteSure it does. Cheerleaders are a hallmark of "school" and "sports culture" and we often stereotype cheerleaders as non intelligent, over dramatic, sex-oriented dancers, so the idea that fist, that's not true, but more over those that do think so would find such a group like that unexpected for collecting information---and information is a weapon that can destroy lives. It is it's own "sport"---so in essence the title is a really creative and outlandish/over the top way to get those ideas across---it might even be the name of their little organization.
ReplyDeleteIt totally reminds me of something that Japanese Anime/Manga would do!
ReplyDeleteAlso...
ReplyDeleteWasn't there a movie a decade or so ago with a similar plot?
I have the mental image of Devon Aoki and others going from school girls to spies. Not exactly cheerleaders I guess, but...
ETA:
Used the Google and found it. D.E.B.S. in 2004.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0367631/
I agree. I immediately pictured him having feeling for one of them and I couldn't help but cringe.
ReplyDeleteIt's still on. Its terrible though.
ReplyDeleteand there is also this...(kind of found it by accident)
ReplyDeleteHa!
ReplyDeleteI saw that movie back in the day!
She is a cheerleader that kills some I guess, but it is more of a post apocalyptic zombie movie than cheerleaders...
As I recall a comet crashes to earth and turns most of humanity into dust. Some survive and are immune but most survivors go zombie. The chaos and mayhem ensues.... At some point I recall the cheerleader going to a shopping mall! Talk about covering your cliches, both for cheerleaders and zombie films! XD
I don't think I have ever seen it, but it almost looks like something that everyone should watch just once!! XD
