I never watched Taxi Brooklyn beyond episode 2 but the way they presented it I'm glad I didn't.
As McHale said "Taxi Brooklin is a show about a cop who has her driving privileges revoked and asks a french imigrant to driver her to crimescenes wich the police departement is apparently totally fine with wich is a premise that screams "SHUT up do you think I have time to watch everything I greenlight"".
Wich begs to question though...after watching The Soup for more then 8 years of my life...will I be able to live on if it inevitably ends at some point?
Good question. It applies to me as well. The Soup is the only way for me to laugh at horrible reality shows without actually watching those horrible reality shows.
I never even heard of the show or the premise of it till now and I am dying laughing. And I can so imagine the comments The Soup people would make about it. LOL.
The Soup is the one reason I ever regret not having cable. Well until recently. A few months ago I couldn't find any full length eps legally online, yet I checked the other day and it seems their YouTube channel started putting up eps a while back, so I've been having an effing BLAST watching them. It's my favorite of all the shows in its genre, I'll watch Tosh occasionally but the others pale in comparison.
This show sucked so much donkey. But didn't it get pretty solid ratings? I had been assuming it would be back because I didn't remember it flopping. I actually remember being disappointed at how well episode 2 performed because I was expecting a bigger drop.
No surprise here, after all Chyler was cast in Supergirl and we all know that almost every time that means cancelling the other show from which this star is main character.
Yeah, after losing Craig Ferguson, Stephen Colbert, and now with Jon Stewart on his way out down the line, I'm clinging to any comedy shows I love that are left, this one and John Oliver's show among them! It'll be a sad, sad day if "The Soup" ever ends, or Joel McHale quits as host. I never actually saw "Taxi Brooklyn" itself, just the clips "The Soup" aired, but I liked their commentary on it, too. Was it the finale they showed a clip from where there was those people all yelling at each other and pointing guns and then someone was knocked down and there was an explosion on a boat out of nowhere and I think someone's mom was in danger or something and whatnot? That scene always cracked me up...very "WTF?" moment there.
Same here. The only reason I know anything about the Kardashians is because of "The Soup"-were it not for them I would continue to live in blissful ignorance. I'd very much like to continue to live in that blissful ignorance, mind, but "The Soup" skewers them so well that the trade-off is worth it.
I really like John Oliver but his newest HBO show isn't doing it for me for some reason. The Soup, Tosh.0 and Brickleberry are the only comedy shows I watch live these days anyway.
Yeah that was the most hysterical soup moment I remember. That scene had me laughing for hours xD
He manages to turn clips that otherwise would make you feel bad for everyone into something to laugh about. Like that parkour guy that hit his head and lost some teeth "Stop crying, it's not like Ryan was going to be a model anyway"
You know...some do deserve what McHale gives them, let's be fair the Kardashians will NEVER be cool with his jokes. The only reason they showed up on his show was to save face
This is true! Public access television is highly entertaining if one watches it long enough. When I lived in Wyoming there was a public access show we got in from Montana that aired Friday evenings, and all it was was this older guy who sat in...either his basement which he'd converted into a radio station or a radio station itself, I'm not sure which, and he'd just ramble on about whatever while playing random, obscure old songs from the '30s, '40s, and '50s. And he was very animated and clearly seemed enthusiastic about his show and his job. It was so weird and random, but it actually became something of appointment television for our family each week :).
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
That is so sad I liked this show.
ReplyDeleteThis was a decent summer time-killer but Chyler Leigh is moving over to Supergirl so that's good enough, I suppose.
ReplyDeleteThe creator of the show tweeted last month saying it was cancelled but NBC didnt have the balls till now to confirm it.
ReplyDeleteSome Soup writers just killed themselves knowing that they've lost their best material doner
ReplyDeleteAnd no one was surprised.
ReplyDeleteI saw one of those episodes with Ron Perlman and Larry King, that was hilarious
ReplyDeleteYou mean they hadn't announced this until now?
ReplyDeleteNope, lol
ReplyDeleteThey filled time every week just explaining the premise of the show. It was hilarious.

It was a interestin idea i liked the show but it was to unrealistic so i knew it was headed for the can but im stil glad i tried

ReplyDeleteMeh,not surprising at all!

ReplyDeleteSo, first time I heard of this. So this was a thing.
ReplyDeleteCool. Cool cool cool.

Exactly. Besides, without The Soup how would I know if anyone ever found Bigfoot?
ReplyDeleteAhahahahaha, YES. Exactly :D. Ah, "Finding Bigfoot". Rarely is a show so funny and so pitifully sad all at the same time as that one.
ReplyDeleteI really like John Oliver but his newest HBO show isn't doing it for me for some reason. The Soup, Tosh.0 and Brickleberry are the only comedy shows I watch live these days anyway.

Tosh and McHale are the only ones capable of pulling a clipshow off, If you're not a brilliant comedian all that is left are the clips.
ReplyDeleteBut clipshows aren't carried by the clips, they're carried by the hosts and so far the only ones that I enjoy are Joel and Tosh.
Yeah, his style is brutal. And incredibly below the belt. But incredibly hilarious
ReplyDeleteI didn't know McHale showed up on Tosh's show! I'll have to go find that clip!
ReplyDeleteHe manages to turn clips that otherwise would make you feel bad for everyone into something to laugh about.

ReplyDeleteAnd yeah, exactly. He's like, "You know you all secretly laugh at this stuff anyway, might as well finally own up to it."
You know...some do deserve what McHale gives them, let's be fair the Kardashians will NEVER be cool with his jokes. The only reason they showed up on his show was to save face

ReplyDeleteAl Rooker should've smacked the living hell out of Spencers creepy flesh colored beard
ReplyDeleteI would watch that. Happily so.
