Sleepy Hollow - Join the Fan Campaign to Renew Sleepy Hollow

Feb 25, 2015

Ask yourself, are you a fan of Sleepy Hollow? If so join the campaign to save the show! Networks have slowly started to renew some of their shows, and with Sleepy Hollow's fate hanging in the balance it truly could go either way. Sleepy Hollow was a huge hit in it's first season, but sadly went of track with it's story, focusing on many parts that left fans angered. The writers have listened to what fans have to say and have started to implement changes to the show to return it to what it once was. There is a petition, and also a twitter campaign ongoing, both small at the moment, but increasing daily. If you want Sleepy Hollow renewed get involved.

Why fan's love Sleepy Hollow

Sleepyaddicts: To say I'm addicted to Sleepy Hollow is an understatement! I think what makes the shows so special is how it's mired in American history, as well as giving us a good scare every week. Of course the chemistry between Tom Mison and Nicole Beharie is electric and I love how their bond has strengthened. Team Sleepy really cares and while S2 has been a rough one, they've heard fans and are doing their best to make changes. If you love historical thrillers with elements of the supernatural, please tune in to the 2-part S2 finale!

Joyce Williams: Sleepy Hollow is a great show with a cast that has great chemistry. Reverting back to what worked in season 1 will bring the fans back, the last episodes & upcoming ones proves that.

Verlinda Henning: Sleepy Hollow is a smart, well-written & acted show that is entertaining, exciting & emotionally affecting. The show works hard to intrigue & engage viewers, & the cast is impeccable. Please renew this original & unique series.

Deb McCue: I'm a Deacon at the church that has stewardship over the Old Dutch Church in Sleepy Hollow New York. We are very much married to the Legend of Sleepy Hollow so that is why I started watching. But what they do with history, with characters drawn loosely from The Legend, with an overarching theme of good vs evil-it is really brilliant. Top that off with the chemistry between Beharie and Mison and add the interplay with Jones and Greenwood and it makes for thrilling, uplifting and scary good fun. They've had a rough 2nd season. If they get a 3rd I think it could be like the pilot all over again. There is no team like this on TV and it's worth another round. Of Rum.

Erin Parker: This is the only show that combines my two favorites things: cop shows and the supernatural. Mixed together with dry wit, humor, and drama it makes for one of the best shows that I've come across in a long time.

Sandra Kellstrom: There are only two shows I watch, and Sleepy Hollow is one. It is unique and well written and acted. I look forward to seeing each new episode and cannot fathom Monday night without it. Please renew this show for all the fans like me who tune in to FOX with Sleepy Hollow.

Diane Johnson: Sleep Hollow is one of the most intelligent shows on network television. It provides interesting, funny and thought provoking look at history and the supernatural. It doesn't pander to the lowest common denominator.

Ashanti Ashanti: This show, being one of only a few whose diversity matches its humor, drama, thrills, and amazing storytelling, is too phenomenal to cancel. The fact that fans like us are actually petitioning for a renewal just goes to show that we need this on FOX

Tiffany T: I've loved "Sleepy Hollow" from the start. My faith in this phenomenal series has never wavered. Please allow the full vision of "Sleepy Hollow" to be completed. We need to know how the Witnesses' story is destined to end. Please don't don't break the hearts of loyal and loving Sleepy Heads. Renew "Sleepy Hollow"!

Julie Bowman: Sleepy Hollow is a well written, wonderfully acted pleasure. I am so grateful to Fox for putting it on the air and allowing us the opportunity to view such a program. For me, Sleepy Hollow allows me to take an hour out of my week and be completely free from worrying about everything else around me. Please allow there to be a season 3. I would like to see what journey lies ahead.

Pete S: Sleepy Hollow is a superb TV show that weaves early American history in with present day New England. It is an exquisite supernatural mystery series that spotlights the backgrounds of our early American forefathers as philosophers, scientists, chemists, and architects, as members of the FreeMasons. It depicts the high level of education and the depths of philosophical thought that the framers of the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution possessed. I urge all viewers who watch Sleepy Hollow to let their feelings be known and fight for series renewal.

Barbara Martinez: The two leads in the show could not be more different and those differences add to what makes the show unique. They compliment each other and work as equals. Their differences don't matter because they have a common cause. I was a big fan of the X-Files and I see many parallels between the shows even though the creators of the show have denied it. The X-Files was fighting against aliens taking over the world and Sleepy Hollow is fighting to stop the end of days. The premise of both is, of course, crazy but what better antagonist is there than evil.
I'd love to see the show renewed for a third season and a return to simpler stories like season one with more emphasis on the witnesses fighting with their human gifts and less reliance on magic. The best part of the show for me is the teamwork with Crane and Abbie and the underlying respect they have for one another.

  1. Hey! I recently became a Sleepy Head, but I thought it has solid ratings :O is it in danger?

    ReplyDelete
  2. It's not the most endangered show on FOX, but fans approached me on twitter to put something together for the show to try to guarantee a renewal. It's ratings have been dropping a lot.

    ReplyDelete
  3. Though the ratings are down I still think SH is a safe bet to return for season 3; the 1.2 we saw on Tuesday morning may as well be a fluke. If it stays there or goes below that that's when there is need to worry.

Anyway, I support your campaign! I want Sleepy Hollow to be renewed for a 3rd season so it can become the show I came to love during its first season; this one hasn't been a stellar season - far from it, actually -, but I believe that this show can make a turnaround and I want the show to have the chance to do just that

    ReplyDelete
  4. It's not in danger. Yet, in this social age, it never hurts to have your voice heard. Which is what the fans are doing. Certainly, it has to have peaked FOX's interest as a quick search has produced hundreds and hundreds of messages from unique users. (As opposed to single user spam).

  5. "The 1.2 we saw on Tuesday morning may as well be a fluke."

Certainly it was between inclement weather and everything being down. The L +3 and L + 7 projections look to be unaffected.

    ReplyDelete
  6. I think it will be renewed, but it helps for fans to get heard. Someone started the petition a week ago, and on twitter constantly there is a #renewsleepyhollow going around.

Then I got asked to post something on our site, which I obviously didn't mind as I really want it renewed. I think as SH didn't get a early renewal it might have sent a few people into panic.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Yeah, though the panic was probably just overreaction. New Girl wasn't renwed either and it is a sure thing, same with The Mindy Project which has syndication up its sleeve, and Bones which FOX exces have said they will bring back. They are just working around some things such as budgets and ongoing creative plans for these shows.

Empire, Gotham and B99 are all doing pretty great and are all new - B99 is only a sophomore -, so contracts are easy to figure out.

Shows with a bit more of a struggle in the ratings are not out of the race, but they have to figure out what to do with them. I think SH wasn't renewed only because FOX is figuring out their plans for the show, but I'm sure they intend to renew it this coming May.

That being said, it is always a bonus to have the fans being heard. So as I said, you have my full support on this one :)

for the show, but I'm sure they intend to renew it this coming May."

Funny, this is exactly what Katia Winter said in an interview when asked about season three. That they'll figure out the path and then announce.

    ReplyDelete
  9. They are changing things around "creatively" and are set to move to a new filming location for S3. Probably why it wasn't renewed.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Didn't know about that! If a cast member says that it is way more convincing than if I say it, who just judge the numbers from the outside.
As she says, once FOX and the writers figure out the path for next season, you can expect to see the renewal announcement, and unless the show completely bombs in the coming weeks rating wise - which I doubt - the show is coming back

    ReplyDelete
  11. I completely agree. But, as you said, it never hurts to be heard before its too late.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Though the ratings are down I still think SH is a safe bet to return for season 3
I certainly hope so. And I agree that I think it will come back-even with all the ratings struggles and such it's been having this season, it's still one of the network's more well-known and relatively popular shows. I imagine FOX will want to hold on to some familiar series to help continue drawing viewers in.
I haven't been nearly as down on season 2 as some people have-it hasn't been perfect, no, but I've still found enough about it to enjoy. That said, however, I do agree that it'd be great for the show to get another chance to redeem itself and fix whatever did go wrong this season. I do think the showrunner/writers are trying to listen to some of the fans and critics' suggestions and complaints and have been slowly trying to work those kinks out. Hopefully, should we get a season 3, they can use the break to get themselves sorted out and we can have an awesome season 3 on our hands come fall :D.
Plus, even with all its faults, I still love these characters and want to see them each week again :).

    ReplyDelete
  13. I have no problem believing the screwy weather of late has messed with ratings in general. All those blizzards out east in particular had to play a nasty little part in knocking out power and whatnot.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Depends on who you ask. For any show brought back successfully whether it be Jericho, The Comeback, Nikita, or Community (among others) the answer is yes. But for every "success" there is numerous failed attempts. However, for genre the success does seem to be of a higher rate due to the "cult" fandom.

What helps Sleepy Hollow the most (more than any petition) is it strong DVR/delayed viewership totals. Sleepy Hollow ranks #2 and #7 (percentage and raw increase) and the two charts of L +7 DVR viewing.

    ReplyDelete
  15. It worked for Beauty of the beast

    ReplyDelete
  16. lol the fan who called Sleepy Hollow the most intelligent show on TV must have been high. Entertaining, thrilling, good storytelling and characters can be some positives. But there is nothing intelligent about a show like this though. Hopefully it gets renewed.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Not really but it makes people feel like they are doing their part, especially if they can't effect ratings themselves, so it's cathartic. Fans would be better off targeting the advertisers than tweeting and Facebooking.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Why would DVR or delayed viewership matter? People aren't watching the commercials then so it is actually worse news for the advertisers and the advertisers are TV's biggest client.

    ReplyDelete
  19. For the same reason it matters for shows like Nashville, last May, that were renewed. It shows that there is a sizable viewership base that due to timeslot competition is delaying the viewership. The belief is that with a new timeslot, the live viewership will be closer to the delayed totals. In addition, the word of mouth from the cult fanbase (also indicated in the delayed viewership totals) will generate an increase in viewership.

Not to mention, since FOX owns Sleepy Hollow (much like Nashville is owned by ABC Studios) the complete viewership picture helps them in generating alternate revenue streams, which are of financial benefit.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Sleepy Hollow is currently running almost smack middle of the FOX ratings pack and that is usually good enough for renewal. The problem is the overall down tragectory of the ratings, especially since it's still in sweeps and not the post-daylight savings time dip when all shows basically trend downward.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I dictate phone calls for the hard of hearing and all week I've had a TON people complaining about missing stuff because the weather either distracted them or knocked out their power. Usually it's older people who only watch CBS that I hear but I'd assume it would hold true for the people out there who do watch Sleepy Hollow, etc.

    ReplyDelete
  22. A huge fan campaign to renew a not-yet-renewed series is probably MUCH more effective than a bigger campaign to un-cancel a show (given that after it's canceled it's usually gonna be more complicated and expensive to bring it back)... If FOX is on the fence and people get very vocal about it it's going to ease them on the side where they are more comfortable and confident to bring it back.

At least... that's what logic would dictate. :)

    ReplyDelete
  23. They still make money off the C3 numbers. So DVR viewership does count. And even if they aren't making top money on L7, last season some decisions WERE based on the L7, those numbers ARE important to the studio, and could likely affect licensing fees. A show on a network owned by its parent company would most likely also be helped (or hurt I guess) by DVR numbers, moreso than one from an outside studio.

And also all those people who watch via DVR could *potentially* become live viewers so even if it's not a deciding factor I'm betting that comes up in board meetings as well.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I think you are overstating the importance of numbers that don't drive ad revenue. While it is true that some fans might be detered by the timeslot, chances are not likely that there would be a huge upswing in new live time viewers if they changed the timeslot. Most of those fans would still DVR it like they always do. These numbers more say that Sleepy Hollow is not appointment TV for many Nielsen families. Changing nights might help slightly but chances are any move would take out an almost equal number of people it adds. Put it this way. I don't think Sleepy Hollow's demos are a reflection of how many people watched The Bachelor this week.

"In addition, the word of mouth from the cult fanbase (also indicated in the delayed viewership totals) will generate an increase in viewership."

When is the last time you have seen a cult show be able to turn its numbers around so drastically that a declining show becomes a ratings winner? That is even less likely for a show that will be in its third season and has been highly serialized for the first two. It doesn't matter if they go procedural in the third. Most people have either heard about it and decided not to watch it or have dropped it. Of those, the greatest chance to get people to watch will be those who dropped it. Most series do not increase demos in the third season, especially not in serialized genre shows. Add to it that most people who watch TV in America still do not interact online about it, despite how vocal fandoms make it feel. Therefore tweeting and Facebooking is no way to get word of mouth out to people who are not already fans of the show. Again I would say that targeting the advertisers is a much better plan/

However I do agree that FOZ owning Sleepy Hollow is a plus in its cancellation and renewal factors. Complete viewership pictures as you put it will still be less valuable than say DVD sales, online viewing numbers, etc. where it shows people care enough to actually spend money on the show.

    ReplyDelete
  25. "I don't think Sleepy Hollow's demos are a reflection of how many people watched The Bachelor this week."

Actually that is exactly what happened according to the demos last week. The Bachelor grew in exactly the same area (females 25 to 49) where Sleepy Hollow declined. Last week, Sleepy Hollow showed growth in male teens which of course is not the target demo of the Bachelor.

"Again I would say that targeting the advertisers is a much better plan."

Not possible and highly ineffective as advertisers buy blocks of time. Unless you are advocating e-mailing every advertiser that has a history with FOX, it would not be an effective use of time.

"When is the last time you have seen a cult show be able to turn its
numbers around so drastically that a declining show becomes a ratings
    winner?"

Easy buzz. Agents of the SHIELD. It was moved for the same principle outlined earlier, and has stabilized ABC's roster. Hannibal looks to capitalize on a ratings growth due to being moved to the summer. In fact, I could write pages of shows that qualify.

I think what you are getting confused with is expectations, risk management and actual results. A lot of what you are proposing would not be an effective business solution based on industry standards.

    ReplyDelete
  26. "The problem is the overall down tragectory of the ratings, especially
since it's still in sweeps and not the post-daylight savings time dip
when all shows basically trend downward."

The season finale is Feb 23rd. Daylight savings time is of no concern.

  27. Now that season 2 has finally started airing down here (two episodes so far), I am looking forward to... seeing it all in a marathon when the Blu-ray is released. Because, honestly, 9.30pm Monday on the Happy Days rerun channel is not the best timeslot for anything, let alone this show. True, I set the PVR...and it misses a couple of minutes of the start or end of an episode, and there are far too many ad breaks to fast-forward through. Don't get me wrong, I hope Sleepy Hollow runs till at least season 5 - but me watching it live is not going to make a scrap of difference to its renewal chances.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Did this and also joined the #SaveConstantine campaign... If everyone could tweet that just pretend a super hot person will make out with you as a reward or something. :) I strongly feel shows like SH and Constantine are good for broadcast television which is so littered with safe bets. And I have so many favorite shows that were one season wonders from broadcast it's gratifying to see some live on or even have a half decent shot.

Also if SH gets renewed I really hope FOX will pair it with Empire for the first few episodes. :) Unlikely but I've seen three news outlets claim they know there are plenty of FOX execs who really love SH... Such a pairing might not be realistic in a business sense but it could potentially bring a lot of people back to SH if they were to do it and the writing was strong enough. *crosses fingers for the best*

  29. Wow, it already has a campaign...
I asked myself if I'm a fan and the answer came quickly. No, not anymore. So I'd like to sign a petition to cancel Sleepy Hollow and end its suffering, as it will never be able to recover from the utter mediocrity that the second season delivered. I honestly don't want it to get better or actually renewed, so that I don't have to go through the whole god awful season.

  30. Have you tried calling the police?

    ReplyDelete
  31. Signed! We want s3. I think we won't know untill May. Torture :( Same for OUAT & Shield we know on May 13th... So hard to wait worried!!!!!!!! :'(

    ReplyDelete
  32. Or you can just stop watching season 3 if it gets renewed.Wouldn't that be simpler,my friend. That way everyone gets what they want.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Signed.I know these type of things doesn't mean much but it's better than doing nothing for the show you love.I hope we get to see many more seasons of this amazing show.It got sloppy this season but i have faith they can turn it around next season if they are given a chance. They just need to get rid of katrina and all will be okay in time!

    ReplyDelete
  34. No need to worry about OUAT or shield

    ReplyDelete
  35. thanks I still hope ratings don't fall in 4b & 2b. Even if they do can it be still sure renewal?

    ReplyDelete
  36. Yes, OUAT will 100% be renewed, same with Shield. The ratings would have fall pretty far down if it were to be cancelled. Even then they still wouldn't be cancelled.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I agree it isn't TV for intellectuals, but the premise is unique and that is smart, especially with all the drivel out there. I tried to watch Gotham after all the hype and YAWN.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Seems the smartest thing to do in this scenario is move the night, no? Monday's at 9 pm, so their biggest opponent is Scorpion, I'd say?? I don't know, but perhaps that would be Sleepy's best bet.

    ReplyDelete
  39. They do only count viewers from the US. It's a shame as there is a lot of fans who watch it globally...

    ReplyDelete
  40. L+3 and L+7 is nothing more than network's spin.

The networks are still largely ad-based and the advertisers aren't willing to pay for L+3/7 because they have no way to adequately knowing who watched the commercials or not.

    ReplyDelete
  41. That is why the ratings are causing a bit of a concern. Because they cant blame the fall of ratings on Spring time.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Calm done, the show is crap but its in no danger of being cancelled. They are way too many duds on Fox doing far much worse as it is

"This is the only show that combines my two favorites things: cop shows and the supernatural."

Grimm? ,Forever?, The Flash? Supernatural?, Gotham?

    ReplyDelete
  43. That's your opinion. Whilst I agree that the show isn't in much danger, and will surely get a third season, there is no harm in fans being heard.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Maybe if Fox does decide to cancel it ABC, NBC or CBS beck even the CW could pick up a season 3 of it ! Smart thing Fox Don't cancel it before the fans have had their say on how it could be improved.
