  1. Wow!!!! This is a lot to take in.

Katrina goes dark and over the edge. I am conflicted. Does this mean she turns into a full on villain? I hope not. Instead, I hope she is saved by the Witnesses.

  2. Kill off Kristina ! The witch is systematically ruining Sleepy Hollow!

    ReplyDelete
  3. Untrue. The writing has brought this show down, not the character.

    ReplyDelete
  4. This is a really interesting idea. I'm cautiously optimistic. Oh, and I totally predicted dark side Katrina a long long time ago but, in fairness, I probably wasn't the only one.

    ReplyDelete
  5. How many times did we see similar scenarios in sci-fi shows? Where did your surprises go Sleepy Hollow?

    ReplyDelete
  6. I like the sound of this, sounds like one of the more more unique things SH has done so far, also, as much as I love Katrina I am VERY intrigued by Dark Katrina. Hopefully she doesn't die.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Ding dong the witch is dead! I hope we can all, well most of us, be chanting this at end of this episode. I shouldn't have spoiled this for myself, but I couldn't resist reading it.

    ReplyDelete
  8. No I think they mean the two Witnesses Abbie and Ichabod, just the past versions in this strange time thing that seems like witchcraft, if I read it correctly.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Katrina kill Ichabod for Henry, right lol didn't see that coming. Will she or won't she.....big dilemma. When we're being hand fed that she's going evil...is she really though?

So more witnesses, making Abbie and Ichabod not so unique. Interesting to see an independant women who can obviously take care of herself back in the day of slivery. Looking forward to seeing that innocent Ichabod in regimentals again.

Hold on how can she kill Ichabod for her unborn son? Wasn't he already dead when she found out she was pregnant?

    ReplyDelete
  10. Yeah Im in agreeance with Bruce. The writing this year has not be anywhere near the quality of last year. Did they lose writers, did they swap some out?

Are being trolled? Abbie is gong to be a run away slave...WTF

    ReplyDelete
  12. She's trying to kill Ichabod, so doubtful. BUT, I wouldn't be surprised because we know how much they like to write saving Katrina into the story. YAWN

    ReplyDelete
  13. One can safely assume that Ichabod will survive any attempt on his life; Tom Mison embodies that character perfectly . Along with emotional truth of Ms.. Beharie, the two witnesses have created a rare and meaningful depiction of partners for television. Good writing will add so much to the mix.
An aside: - Slavery was a walk in the park for kidnapped/independent black women back in the day (:-.The worse kind of irony.
    I applaud Mr. Mison ..............

  14. I think Katrina is trying to save her son by going back in time before Ichabod dies then instead of putting him in the enchanted sleep then the other witches won't be after her and she can raise her son. Ichabod can still go to the future with Abbie to be a witness just Katrina would stay in the past and raise their son. That would work all around Katrina doesn't stay evil and she can leave hints for them in the future and the horseman of war is not his son.

    ReplyDelete
  15. What about the part where it states Katrina is trying to KILL Ichabod? The fandom will not let that ride. She can't possibly make it into season three after that, unless some serious witchy garbage happens that erases everything that transpires, which will mean that the episode didn't happen so no that won't work either.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Okay, in fairness to the writers, if Abbie goes back to 1700's America, she will certainly be mistaken as a slave. That is our unfortunate and deplorable history. I hope this is a one scene thing and is quickly resolved because, although it is interesting for Ichabod and Abbie to be fighting off an evil Katrina (yes, finally!), I do NOT want to see Abbie in this condition. I wish there were a better way that they did this like Ich knew who she was and was hiding her so she wasn't mistaken for a runaway slave, as opposed to her actually being locked away. The writers failed on so many levels this season that slavery, in any context, should not be a part of this season.

This is the same show that did such an amazing job at addressing slavery in the pilot episode when Ich asked Abbie "So I take it you've been emancipated?" followed by Abbie stating "OK, I'll play along. I'm a female Black lieutenant for the Sleepy Hollow Police." Well, you guys all know the rest, ending with Abbie showing him she's boss and her gun, and it was beautifully done by both actors. If they never raised the issue of race, with Ichabod only knowing the slavery he was raised around in his time, it would've been completely artificial. I hope that this scene is done as that was. Please, writers. This episode looks so otherwise promising, I'm really hoping that #AbbieMillsDeservesBetter doesn't have to happen that night. SHE IS THE FEMALE LEAD OF THIS SHOW, NOT KATRINA.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Please use her right name! :D I feel accused since that name is mine :D
Otherwise I agree with your first sentence!

    ReplyDelete
  18. Lol I respect your opinion. But Mr Mison and Ms Beharie haven't created something rare and meaningful, for me. I watch a mixture of multilingual and culture TV. I have seen a lot of beautiful partnerships. That's why it was easy for me to see and buy Sleepy Hollow as an assembled cast. I don't see what they have as unusual for TV.

I do hope the writers handle the topic of slavery with sensitivity and consideration. I like the comical timings on Sleepy Hollow but I hope they don't use it then.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Thank you 😊 I missed that part.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Oh, in my shock I didn't notice before that Katrina now has the Grimoire, so yes it seems she's conspiring with Henry and likely paired up with Irving (her likely aforementioned unlikely ally) to defeat the Witnesses. This actually sounds pretty intense. I'm ready for the subterfuge...I just wish I didn't spoil it for myself! I hope this is an extended episode.

    ReplyDelete
  21. My opinion is just that - an opinion .
The aside is an observation that lent itself to sarcasm.
No writer can ever surpass Eric Williams's " Capitalism and Slavery" in which he would not fathom the idea that a "independent " woman can take care of herself under such an evil and barbaric institution.
Unfortunately such a callous and indifference comment is common in certain circumstances.
    To each its own.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Abbie has to be mistaken for an enslaved woman because these racist and sexist writers couldn't possibly read a history book and know that there were FREE BLACKS living in the US at that time? This show is determined to stay at gutter level....

    ReplyDelete
  23. My only wish for the finale-Death of Katrina. Please fulfill my wish writers!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Or have Abbie drop Grace Dixon's name. She's the matron at Frederick's Manor, and seemed to have been known in those revolutionary circles.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Me too and I hope she don't go to the dark side completely and she stay with the team.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Yes some new writers and a new showrunner, I believe.

    ReplyDelete
  27. To use the book she would have to use book she would have to use dark magic. I hope in the end they don't keep her evil. Just let her stay in the past and raise their son, also Ichabod still loves her not sure if he remember Abbie just that he believes some of the stuff she says . The show is not suppose to end with a cliffhanger to it will not leave us hanging

    ReplyDelete
  28. First yes she is trying kill him because she is trying to save their son, but he was to die anyways if she hadn't put him in the enchanted sleep. They have already changed it, by going back. They leave Katrina in the past to raise their son and Ichabod and Abbie go back to the future. That would make people happy. The could even keep Katia in it being related to him through Jemery.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Fair enough 😊 I ignored the sarcasm because my original comment was not meant to be taken as callous but each to their own

    ReplyDelete
  30. I suppose that could work. Now it just really puts a spin on who the actual death Orlando Jones teases about at the end of the season will be. It doesn't sound like Jenny's in the episode, so I think she's safe (yay!), and they aren't killing Ichabod or Abbie, so that leaves Henry, Katrina, or Irving (assuming Irving is her unlikely ally). I truly hope they don't do Orlando dirty like that after he's been resurrected, albeit soulless. I'm imagining Henry by that deduction because I don't see how much further we can take his character. Sigh. Who knows, though. It is season two Sleepy Hollow. They've got Abbie as an assumed runaway slave, so apparently anything goes.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Yes, but weren't people secreted away to Fredericks Manor? I can't imagine as a Black woman I'd be trusting any of the people I met along the way in the 1700's to disclose any information. But Grace Dixon was free and had the church where Henry was raised for a time, so maybe it would work. It sounds like Abbie meets Ichabod for what he thinks is the first time while she's held captive, explains everything to him, and they skedaddle out that mofo!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Didn't freedom mean that you had to have papers in those days? I imagine they will use that as the plot device. Someone asks Abbie for her proof and she doesn't have anything. I could be wrong, but I thought in America emancipation papers were required after the civil war. We weren't nearly as progressive as other countries.

I agree this is a terrible plot device for where the state of the show is now and what they did to Abbie, Jenny, and Frank this season in favor of pushing Katrina front and center. This part of the spoiler may indeed cost some viewers.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Time travel to erase the events of this season huh? Looking for a reset button so early in the series is a bad sign. But attempting to erase how horrible this season was means at least the writers realized they done goofed.

Fingers crossed the time travel means we get Corbin and Brooks back.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Is this synopsis for real??? I swear there is a fanfic with a similar synopsis LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  35. That's a nice thought. I like both of those characters very much, well good Andy anyway when he would do anything to protect Abbie--with the exception of him whacking her over the head, of course. And Corbin is like a dad to Abbie, so that would be great. As long as Irving doesn't get booted, bring it on.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Absolutely! The writing has been atrocious this season, so much so that it feels like an entirely different show.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Yes, it would be nice if she get to meet Grace, at least.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I wonder if it is....

    ReplyDelete
  39. Crane had been to Frederick's Manor, though, and had met and been impressed by Grace Dixon. Abbie knows this. She could drop Grace's name to get 1781Ichabod to believe her story.

    ReplyDelete
  40. You're forgetting Abraham. He's the death, I predict.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Wow can you imagine w/ all the controversy it caused on Twitter. That would be awful and hilarious.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Yes but look at one of the pictures from Awakening Katrina is in the dress she wore in season 1 and is casting a spell she has the book. I think they had it removed because they put it up to soon,

    ReplyDelete
  43. What if they killed Henry in the awakening to stop him from raising the evil coven, and in doing so that set Katrina off she has the book now so she cast a spell to send herself back in time to change her history like it said. I think she is going to stop Ichabod being put in the enchanted sleep so she can raise her son Jemeru. I also think Abbie get sent back by accident maybe being to close when the spell is cast. I don't think Katrina would want her back to try and stop her. Just my opinion I could be wrong

    ReplyDelete
  44. Half-Blood Princess5 February 2015 at 00:30

That wouldn't work though because Ichabod would still be tied to headless. Right now he's still the horseman of death since Katrina didn't free him or whatever. So the coven would still be after Katrina for letting Ichabod live. That's why she's trying to kill him. Unless Katrina is going to stop Headless form Killing Ichabod I don't see how this can work.

    ReplyDelete
  45. He wouldn't be tried if he doesn't die at the hand of headless. I think she is trying to stop him before he is tried to him. It not that she is sliding with evil Henry if they killed Henry in the awakening she wants a chance to be a mother she wants to raise Jemery she is choosing her son over her husband this time because I think she feel that Ichabod is sliding with Abbie in the future. She is a mother and a mother love is strong.

Papers didn't mean anything when you were consider property. All a white person needed to claim ownership of a slave was an affidavit saying he owned the slave, and who was going to refute that? So even if they used that as a plot device and Ichabod just happened to get emancipation papers, if another white man showed up with an affidavit saying he "owned" Abbie, whose word do you think they'd take?

Slave owners needed only to supply an affidavit
to a Federal marshal to capture an escaped slave. Since any suspected
slave was not eligible for a trial, the law resulted in the kidnapping
and conscription of free blacks into slavery-Wikipedia

And be it further enacted, That, upon affidavit made by the claimant of
such fugitive, his agent or attorney, after such certificate has been
issued, that he has reason to apprehend that such fugitive will he
rescued by force from his or their possession before he can be taken
beyond the limits of the State in which the arrest is made, it shall be
the duty of the officer making the arrest to retain such fugitive in his
custody, and to remove him to the State whence he fled, and there to
deliver him to said claimant, his agent, or attorney. And to this end,
the officer aforesaid is hereby authorized and required to employ so
many persons as he may deem necessary to overcome such force, and to
retain them in his service so long as circumstances may require. The
said officer and his assistants, while so employed, to receive the same
compensation, and to be allowed the same expenses, as are now allowed by
law for transportation of criminals, to be certified by the judge of
the district within which the arrest is made, and paid out of the
    treasury of the United States.-civilwar.org

    Yes but it says:

"With Ichabod in the midst of an epic battle we've witnessed before, he
searches among his enemy's ranks in hopes of finding a certain
red-coated Hessian soldier with the distinct bow-shaped mark on his
    right hand"

"Katrina, seduced by the recently discovered power of her black magic and
in possession of the Grimiore, remains determined to rewrite her own
history and kill Ichabod in order retain her relationship with her
    as-of-yet unborn son."

I took this to mean that at least Ichabod shows up on the battle field pretty much right in the place he was before he died, so unless Katrina is right there with him, I don't see how she's going to stop him from being mortally wounded.

    ReplyDelete
  48. But it also says he talks to Abbie who in jail so we are not sure if he is taken off the field before the fight to go talk to Abbie who is asking for him because he does not remember her and no knowledge of the future. So just maybe the fight between the to don't happen. But we do know it won't be a cliffhanger.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Half-Blood Princess5 February 2015 at 01:41

It's the "kill Ichabod" that gets me, why write kill if she's trying to save him? Could be for dramatic purposes, but that just seems dumb, but given this season and Fox all but denying this is the real synopsis who knows what the truth is.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Yes, I believe I read said fanfic a while back too.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I think it is the real one because if you look at the pictures for the awakening Katrina is dressed in the dress she wore in season one with the book and it looks like she is casting a spell.

    ReplyDelete
  52. You need to do your own research into chattel slavery in the US instead of asking what amounts to DUMB questions. NO every black person had not been enslaved. There were communities of free blacks. Geez - read a book and learn something! THIS IS EXACTLY WHY THIS WHOLE IDEA IS A FAIL!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  53. That isn't exactly true and did not apply across the board. Every black person was NOT formerly held in chattal slavery. Geography determined much of that. Again...you all need to do some serious research instead of making assumptions and making statements, using anecdotes without nuance. Even 12 Years A Slave was about a free man who had never been enslaved who was forcibly kidnapped.

    ReplyDelete
  54. I didn't say every Black person was enslaved. I stated paperwork was required for free persons, which is TRUTH. I posed it as a question out of respect when I originally commented.

If you read Half-Blood Pricesses' detailed response below, you will see that even papers did not guarantee one's safety. Therefore, it isn't illogical for Abbie to be an assumed slave because that's what they would've thought she was if she was traveling in the past. What is wrong is the fact that they even have slavery as a thing when this season was already compromised by the sidelining of Abbie, Frank, and Jenny in favor of moving Katrina to the forefront. Had that not been done, this finale would likely not have been perceived to have racist undertones.

Before this season, SH always addressed race w/ perfect balance. Of course Ichabod had never seen a Black woman as a Lieutenant because of the time he came from. The actors played their respective parts perfectly and that was that. It had to be addressed because not to do so would be bizarre; someone from the past would obviously be intrigued by HUGE changes to society. That stated, I agree that SH should not even bring ANYTHING to do w/slavery into the equation, but because they did and we have no control over it, I'm just stating that I see HOW Abbie would be an assumed slave. It would not be realistic if she goes back in time, especially looking like she's from the future already, and just does her work unnoticed; somebody is going to notice.

Read a book and learn something? I run an adult occupational training program and I'm required to teach all the basics, including English, to inner city homeless and welfare to work recipients; I read plenty. I teach this population because I was a member of it myself until a few years ago, so please don't type at me like I'm some ignorant fool. I'm really not disagreeing with anything you've stated on here or twitter. While I find time travel interesting, I think this finale could've been executed without Abbie being caught, etc. I have not seen the final product yet, and it is possibly not like what is represented in this here synopsis, so I will reserve my judgment until it airs.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Do you think the crumbling. Relationship is abby and crain

    ReplyDelete
  56. Half-Blood Princess7 February 2015 at 18:22

Did I say all blacks were held in chattel slavery? Did I? That's not the point I'm trying to make. The point I'm trying to make was the writers shouldn't do this because more than likely they are going to try and sugarcoat slavery. The issues of slavery isn't something that should be covered in a 42 minute episode. This show has had two season to deal with the issue of Slavery, the could have had Ichabod known Crispus Attucks, or James Armistead Lafayette. Why is it that Ichabod only knows white historical figures, and some of the worst ones at that. Why does Abbie need to be thought of as a slave to deal with the issues of slavery?

Yes geography did determined whether a person was free or not. Chattel slaver began in 1626 in NY and roughly ended in 1799. In 1703 more than 42% of New York City's households held slaves, a percentage higher than in the cities of Boston and Philadelphia, Ichabod died in 1781,which is the time Abbie is going back to. In 1785 New York went to work for the
abolition of slavery and for aid to free blacks. The state passed a 1799
    law for gradual abolition;
after that date, children born to slave mothers were free but required
to work for the mother's master for an extended period as indentured servants into their late twenties.

Even if Abbie did have "papers" Do you really think whites back then would care? They made children born free still work for white people. Freedom was just a word for whites to define back then. Do you think everything was harmonious and magical between white people and black people in free states? Do think everything was suddenly kosher after slavery ended? Do you think whites cared about our freedom? White people had to be forced to treat us like humans, and guess what a lot of the still don't even give us the same basic humanity they give others, if they did there'd be no justification for using us as target practice.

I've done my research, it be nice if you'd do some to instead of trying to shame or school me, or whatever the hell it is you think you're doing.

    ReplyDelete
  57. How many episodes of SH have you watched? Who is Kristina? There is a witch who has been dragging on the season but her name sure isn't Kristina. I know her name because my daughter who will be 34 in April is named after the original female of the Sleepy Hollow story by Washington Irving. Ya might want to go correct that name Rebecca :)
