Season 3 - Episode 317
“Fearless”

Dr. Alex Reid (Erica Durance) is asked on a ‘consult’ by the ladies at Hope Zion Hospital, and starts her day off with a great surprise. Later, while on rounds, Alex confides in Dr. Dana Kinney (Wendy Crewson) that she hasn’t been too honest with the women in her life. After an emergency lifesaving manoeuvre on a very chatty mother of two, Alex begins to wonder if it’s time for her to make an important call. Meanwhile, Dr. Joel Goran (Daniel Gillies) has something he needs to ask Alex, but before he can find a private moment, a mini‐van with several Varsity hockey players comes rushing in – and it’s up to Joel, Dr. Shahir Hamza (Huse Madhavji), and a very high‐tech piece of equipment to save them. Dr. Sydney Katz’s fiancĂ© comes into the hospital – but unbeknownst to Sydney and Dr. Maggie Lin (Julia Taylor Ross) – not for the reasons one might ever expect. Dr. Charlie Harris (Michael Shanks) is visited by the Spirit of a young man who dispels primal and philosophical advice – prompting Charlie to consider some big actions of his own.

  1. I wonder if Charlie is going to ask Alex to marry him too? I really hope they end up together. I'm glad Joel is maturing but I think Alex and Charlie are better together. Hopefully, the baby is Charlie's!

  2. Thoughts:
    - " Alex confides in Dr. Dana Kinney (Wendy Crewson) that she hasn’t been too honest with the women in her life." What the hell does that mean?
    - They better not be setting up a dual proposal situation in the finale. I'm just so sick of this useless triangle.
    - Does anyone else think its extremely selfish of Alex to keep both of those guys in the dark for the entire length of the pregnancy? One of them is the father and she's depriving them of being part of the child's life before he/she is even born. Not a good start.
    - Thank god for the return of the Dr. Katz plot. This episode seems like Alex/Joel/Charlie overload.

  3. Alex' mother is still alive, isn't she? I'm guessing she hasn't told her about the pregnancy..

  4. They already explained that Alex decided it was safer for the baby to wait until he's born to do the test. I know it's difficult to wait but even the guys agreed it was better for the baby and it wasn't worth the risk. The baby's wellbeing should be put above all other concerns IMO.

  5. I'd be okay with that if the justification wasn't so terrible. There are very specific cases in which it's not completely safe to do a paternity test like the one suggested on the show. No one has mentioned Alex fitting that criteria in any way. They simply said "they want to be safe." They never actually stated a real risk to the baby's well-being. All they're really doing is pulling a reason out of their butts to drag this out and create false drama. If the show is going to give a reason for this ridiculousness they should at least make it believable.

  6. Since she's hardly ever mentioned and never appears she's a non-factor.
