CINEMAX ANNOUNCES START OF PRODUCTION FOR NEW DRAMA SERIES QUARRY

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 2, 2015 – Production will begin March 30 on the eight-episode CINEMAX drama series QUARRY, it was announced by Michael Lombardo, president, HBO Programming. Based on the novels of Max Allan Collins, the show will be directed and executive produced by Greg Yaitanes (CINEMAX’s Emmy®-winning “Banshee”; Emmy® winner for directing “House, M.D.”), along with executive producer Steve Golin (HBO’s Emmy®-nominated “True Detective”). QUARRY is created and executive produced by Graham Gordy & Michael D. Fuller (“Rectify”).

“This nuanced and dynamic show marks an exciting moment in the evolution of CINEMAX programming,” said Lombardo.

QUARRY tells the story of Mac Conway, a Marine who returns home to Memphis from Vietnam in 1972 and finds himself shunned by those he loves and demonized by the public. As he struggles to cope with his experiences at war, Conway is drawn into a network of killing and corruption that spans the length of the Mississippi River. QUARRY stars Logan Marshall-Green (“Prometheus”) in the title role; Jodi Balfour (“Final Destination 5”) as Joni; Peter Mullan (HBO’s “Olive Kitteridge”) as The Broker; Nikki Amuka-Bird (“Luther”) as Ruth; and Damon Herriman (“Justified”) as Buddy; along with Jamie Hector (HBO’s “The Wire”) as Arthur; Edoardo Ballerini (“Romeo Must Die”) as Karl; and Skipp Sudduth (“Ronin”) as Lloyd.

An HBO Entertainment production in association with Anonymous Content, the series is also executive produced by Matt DeRoss (“The End of the Tour”), David Kanter (“The End of the Tour”), Max Allan Collins and Ken Levin (“The Scribbler”). Additional writers on the series include Jennifer Schuur (“Hannibal”) and Max Allan Collins.

QUARRY will film on location in New Orleans and Tennessee.

  1. Sounds interesting!

    Peter Mullan is always incredible....
Edoardo Ballerini, Logan Marshall-Green and Damon Herriman can be a lot of fun, and of course Jamie Hector was awesome as Knox on Heroes and Mario Stanfield on The Wire!

  2. Since it's on Cinemax, I hope it is as unapologetic and daring as Banshee.

  3. Yeah, but it'll still be no Banshee ;)

  4. I feel this has been in development for quite some time... Am I wrong?

Either way, it sounds interesting, and frankly the people involved (cast and crew) are rather high up in my esteem so count me on board!

  5. Good. Cinemax needs a few more shows on their lineup. This sounds like just the show to expand with. Interesting sounding plot, and and an aces cast and crew. I'm definitely in.

  8. Huh... a year isn't too bad for development... I just feel it's been even longer than that...

  9. I dunno, a year seems like a very long time time to me. No idea what takes these cablers so long. But I guess the year+ that a lot of cablers spend in development is doing better than the few months that network shows are putting in.
