It totally caught me off guard but I love how brave the show is for going there and how the writers cleverly and very subtly showed how Flint was not deeply in love with Mrs Barlow. I always found their relationship/dynamic/chemistry off and now we know why.
What I will say is I wish we'd had more action with the attack on the Fort. They could have really had us on the edge of our seats but didn't. The last scene with them fighting almost made up for it though. Very good episode.
When you look back at his relationship with Miranda and her sharing the bed with that dude last season it all makes more sense.
To reveal such a piece of information about its main character in the middle of its second season while at the same time revealing what his motivation has been through the ENTIRE show and having it make complete sense is just brilliant. Black Sails is giving its answer about the enigmas behind one of the best Legends of the Seven Seas.
It's a pretty romantic, idealistic and ballsy one. Kudos to all!
This was the best episode of the series so far. I can't believe how much better this season is than last just by simply filling the backstory of Flint. I used to find watching this show a chore, but now I'm actually excited about next week.
New SOMETHING was amiss with Flint, Barlow and Thomas .......Explains so much ! Just surprised they went there ....... after all, we ARE talking Treasure Island .........
●Anne Bonney is out for BLOOD (hell hath no fury....... ) Smooth Jack, real smooth ! ●Expected more of the Fort under fire........... maybe more next episode ? ●Why oh why .......... would they cut from THE FIGHT ? Vane and Flint grapling and brawling .......and they cut away, is just wrong ! ●Jack obsessing overy his banner ! lolol (historically Jack was the original skull/crossbones & swords designer )
ok, I did not see that coming, can anybody give me any hint from season 1 that would lead to this reveal that he was in love with her husband. I have no problem with it, believe me, I just wanna know if they planned it from the season one. And one bIG q: what happened to her husband? Was he killed?
There was one scene in particular - they were having sex and it was the most unpassionate, uninspired interaction one could conjure up on screen. He was just staring straight up at the ceiling waiting for it to be over.
Not much else beyond that.
Her husband was committed to a mental hospital in London at the same time she and Flint were banished.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Fantastic episode! A definite game changer.
ReplyDeleteThat was an awesome episode. Didn't see that final reveal but it woroed so well and explained so much of S1.
ReplyDeleteLove this showx it's brilliantly written and acted.
So Flint likes to raise the mast and lower the boom.
