Even though we knew about Vertigo from the promos, it was awesome to see Arrow do something crazy like have a Black Canary vs Black Canary fight as the cold open!
I'm so freaking glad Thea knows and Quentin knows! I was getting tired complaining about the same things week after week after week! I though Oliver was going to be more reluctant about Laurel fighting, but yeah, it was getting old, so I'm also glad we're pass that. DJ Douchebag is gone, thank you baby Jesus. And YAY female bonding! I'm so happy that hug between Laurel and Felicity happened. I'm here for this friendship.
As much as I liked the truth coming out on all fronts, that episode was just /bad/ and made me uncomfortable at one point. I hate how Diggle is /still/ being sidelined. I'm done with the writers using Felicity to prop other characters up with ridiculous lines like “You have a light inside you that she didn’t have” which is blatantly not true (and to a point it almost demonizes Sara) and not something Felicity would ever say about Sara (at least, I don't thnk so). A woman Felicity looked up to. A woman Felicity mourned for. And I'm just... wow. I don't like what the show is doing to the characters I fell in love with in seasons one and two :/
Oh well, at least next week looks good. Hopefully it lives up to its hype.
Love it Happy Oliver told Thea and she wasn't mad and Quentin knows glad Oliver got around about Laurel so here for the friendship with Laurel and Felicity love the Black Canary vs Black Canary
As much as Oliver needs to adjust to how things have changed, I swear way too many people in the Olicity tag are taking a disturbing level of joy out of Felicity telling Oliver off.
Oliver is being a non-communicative asshole, but Felicity is also being a very bitter bitch, who somehow finds it necessary to assert her newfound authority whenever she has the chance, and she's doing it for the purpose of putting Oliver "in his place".
Felicity has the right to be pissed, but Oliver loving her does NOT mean she gets a free pass to judge him. Oliver is at a point right now where he's not really arguing with Felicity, and she's using this opportunity to say whatever she wants, knowing that Oliver is just going to forgive her for it anyway because he feels like she deserves it.
But that doesn't make it right. That doesn't mean that people should take some kind of pathetic joy out of Oliver's misery. He technically died, his last thoughts were of Felicity, he came back for Felicity.
He made a difficult decision to train with someone he despises, someone who is actually in a unique position to make Oliver into an even bigger badass, and when he came back he got nothing but hate from Felicity, this dynamic of the team changed, which NO ONE gave him time to get used to, and somehow he's just supposed to take it all in and act like none of it bothers him?
This episode was better than like week. I'll say that. Probably because Oliver was back, probably because Sara made an appearance. Actually, it's because of BOTH of those reasons. But F**K did this episode piss me offfffff.
The opening sequence was AWESOME! And Reozen I was thinking of you the whole time. AND I Laughed. My. Ass. Off. Just like you did. That was funny, b/c it was true.
Thea: I don't even know where to start with this girl. She's been pissing me off so much lately. I'm glad she took the news so lightly, and that her bond with Oliver isn't broken. I'll give her that, b/c I cherish their relationship. BUT, when she kept saying "she couldn't trust Malcolm, I yelled at my TV!!!! NOW YOU CAN'T TRUST HIM??? you trusted him enough to live with him, to learn from him, to take his freaking money and buy yourself an LOFT!!!!! You were soooo upset that you couldn't trust anyone b/c you felt people were lying to you, THEN Oliver tells you one freaking thing, (a HUGE thing) and allll your shit goes out the window!!!! UNBELIEVABLE!!!! You are f**king ridiculous!!! And then she sleeps with DJ Douchebag! Ughh!!! I'm done with her. Can someone please tell her that she killed Sara??? Now more than ever I want her to know, just to spite her!! Then she can know the pain she caused by making the dumbest decision ever and that was SIDING WITH MALCOLM MERLYN!!! The words that came out of her mouth tonight...UGHHHH!!
-Laurel: She makes me want to kill myself, again, and again, and again. Ohhhh and guess what, she "told" her father, AND THE BASTARD IS STILL ALIVE. Well how bout that???? I'll be damned!! Ohhh, but for the record, she DIDN'T say the ACTUAL WORDS. So I guess when she does, then maybe he'll keel over??? Well I guess we'll have to wait and see. Ohhhh but he's alive!!! Just like IIIIII knewwwww he would be!!! I'm just gonna leave her alone tonight. I'm gonna leave her alone. B/c I could fill a page with this bitch just based on this episode. But I'll spare her. Why? B/c she did the one thing I waited for, yet she didn't actually do it. She half did it. Ughh. W/e I'll leave her alone. I'm not in the mood for her. I'm not in the mood to debate tonight either. I'll just shake it off.
- Roy made me mad tonight. He had a point. But he pissed me off. I'm getting annoyed with his random stupI likedity. I liked him better when he wasn't trying to "win back Thea's affections" and he was just cool with the whole thing. Tonight I saw hope and heartbreak, and I just didn't care for it. (And I've always shipped them but I didn't mind that they broke up).
I think the only thing I liked was Diggle and Oliver's scene. Some action sequences. Thea calling out DJ Douchebag, DJ Douchebag's death. Roy coming in to save Thea, Quentin "choking" Laurel scene, (That was great acting on Paul's part. Good stuff) all things Sara, and the ending when Oliver took Thea to the island. That's about it. I didn't care for the flashbacks much either which was a shame. I usually find something i Like about them. Shrugs.
Next week's looks really good. Looks thrilling, welcome Slade, and Um, as long as you don't mention Shado's name in your return, well.... we're Five by Five.
They should at least say something like... Diggle doesn't waht to be on the field because of his daughter or something. It just looks stupid right now.
nicholas you can go to www.vidics.com and watch it on that site it is totally free, no commericals just adds when you click on a link and watch it all you want too for free with no cost
Shannon, let's be positive, at least now we won't have to complain about Quentin not knowing and Thea not knowing! We can move on and complain about something else, like how Oliver is being so very dumb in trusting Malcolm!
Diggle centric episodes are usually pretty boring. In my recollection I do not remember a single episode focused on him being extremely memorable. Diggle has a baby that man should have quit when baby Sara was born , its just not safe for him to do this anymore. You may get your wish with the suicide squad episode coming up. In Sara case maybe its Karma for what she said about Laurel dating Oliver because she wanted him which I didn't believe , sisters urrgh. Sara was a killer , Laurel isnt , The Black Canary isnt a killer in the comics , whilst Sara moved away from that point Laurel and Felicity are the only regulars on the show who have not killed any body. That in a way is what Felicity probably meant even Roy and Thea are killers now.I feel like people just hate Felicity these days , Felicity can say what she wants at this point she is no longer the same , season 3 Felicity is not the same as the original Felicity. Felicity was also there when Sara first arrived in Starling and was executing criminals.Laurel hasnt done that even at her worst in season 2 when she wanted to arrest the arrow.
Sara herself said she hadn't that light. I don't know if you don't understand the show or if you are just pretending to complain about something that was kind of the whole theme of the episode.
Who cares? She was a week ago saying "oh, I hate her because she is lying to her father" and now she isn't anymore she is calling Laurel a bitch. Haters gonna hate, there's no valid point to hear a hater making a point about something.
Or how toxic Lauriver is even when they are not an item! Or how the team was about to throw acid at Oliver because he did the unthinkable and died and dared to come back!
I know i hope Thea and Roy will get back together they were a great couple in Arrow now that Thea knows about Oliver is Arrow and Roy is Arsenal Thea and Roy would make a great couple again.
I never said I wouldn't. I actually agreed with you...THEN. And that's NOT what you said, you said i'd hate her anyway. And i said true, but it doesn't change the fact that he doesn't have a right to know. And when she tells him (which she half did, just like her mom) then i'd feel better. And obviously, i let her off the hook tonight, so that's saying a lot. And shut up, you're dead. Lol Stop talking.
I'm digging Laurel right now, but the fact that she didn't tell Lance about Sara was one of MANY reasons people don't like her. Just like a lot of people don't like Felicity right now, or Thea, or Malcolm, or whatever....
Why did they introduce so many arguments to not resolve any of them? And the ones they did resolve were unimportant. Laurel isn't Sara...we know that. Trying to protect the "light" inside of Laurel is a REASON FOR HER NOT TO BECOME A VIGILANTE. Remember that? No. I do. It was earlier in the season that you are trying to erase. The conviction necessary to do what Oliver does eats away at his soul. The quest is a suicidal one. Lance couldn't take losing Laurel too. They still haven't fixed those problems. They still haven't given Laurel a reason to be out there except that fighting is a high for her that takes the pain away. She needs a reason for, not just reasons against.
The team all has their own opinions and everybody is yelling at each other. Roy flipflops on his previous position that Malcolm loved Thea and they should trust him, to Oliver is back and I'm going to yell about him working Malcolm now. I don't need an angry Roy. I need a comic relief sidekick or I need him to fall off a building, because angry taking up screentime Roy is too annoying for words.
When is it okay to protect people from their choices and when do you have to let them do what they want and save them anyway?
Everybody fighting about everything. Felicity was pissed the entire episode. Resolve it or take her out of the lair. I don't need to watch her play angry receptionist.
Thea doesn't have to "trust" Oliver that Ra's isn't something they can handle on their own. Say, "look I tried, he stabbed me and kicked me off a mountain. We need help."
They need to air it out. But they need to resolve it. Not resolving it was a huge problem.
Just because Sara said it and believed that she wasn't a good person doesn't mean it's true. Did you even watch the last few episodes? Sara sacrificed her life, herself to the LoA (an institution she wanted to get far away from to the point where she poisoned herself just to get away from them) just so they could help save Starling. Now tell me, would anyone without light in them do that? That was the most selfless act.
At least Diggle centric episodes makes sense. But when the show focuses on other characters like Laurel and and Ray, Felicity and Diggle are either sidelined/made incompetent/or made to act out of character? I'm not okay with that.
awesome, i was so glad they're finally back and DJ Douchebag WAS useless i'm thinking of a reason he was there but can't come up with one, now you see any hope for Roy and Thea?
OLIVER AND THEA BROTHER AND SISTER AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHOOOOO!!!!!!!! i loved all their scenes together and that last scene with them was hilarious, i need Roy and Thea back together NOW!!!!
haha yeah. His flip flop was so weird. I knew it would happen though since the episode description said that he would be telling Thea to stay away from Malcolm. Him defending Malcolm made no sense to begin with. My head canon was in the last episode he was just defending him for the benefit of Thea.
I really liked this episode because it tied up several loose ends and propelled the main storyline of Oliver preparing himself to face off with Ra's one last time.
Tonight I thought the ladies were great. Lord knows I've had my problems with Thea and her attitude, but she was really great when Oliver told her he was the Arrow. What could've torn them apart has brought them closer together than ever before. I did get whiplash though when one minute Thea was asking Oliver to understand why Malcolm was in her life ... and the next she was telling Oliver she could never trust Malcolm again. That was confusing to me. Laurel now has the chance to define her destiny as the Black Canary once she truly acknowledged Sara's death to herself and her father. I don't think it was Quentin's health holding her back after all. I think Laurel had to come to terms with her sister's death for herself before she could be strong enough to tell her father and be there for him in his time of grief. The scene were Laurel finally went to Quentin was so heartbreaking because no words needed to be spoken. A parent instinctively knows when they've lost their child. Felicity was supportive when needed and strong when necessary. She helped Laurel see that she could step out of Sara's shadow, yet still love and honor her sister at the same time. If Felicity didn't speak up instead of listening to Diggle's suggestion to throttle things down when Roy and Oliver started to argue, then the tension between the team would've become so much worse. Each member didn't have to air their grievances. There just needed to a general outburst that allowed everyone to have their say so the problem could be acknowledged and Team Arrow could move forward.
I did have a couple of problems, but it was with the characters and no so much the writing. Oliver, was kind of a jerk to Felicity last week when he said the problem she had was about them and not him working with Malcolm. This week, Oliver was a jerk again but it was to Laurel when he told her being the Canary was another addiction for her instead of dealing with Sara's death. Wow ... just wow. Next, how could Thea hold her own against Malcolm and the Arrow, yet be totally caught off guard to the point she could defend herself against Ra's soldier? Last but not least, there has been a couple of episodes now where John has been sidelined. I'm okay with Team Arrow growing in numbers, but it shouldn't force individual members like Diggle into the background.
I suppose I'm a little stunned by the sudden shifts of Thea's allegiances. Though it has stayed in line with her character evolution, it does make sense she's more willing to trust Oliver over Malcolm now that Oliver has told her his big secret. I'm still wondering how her being compelled by Malcolm to murder Sara will change things for all 3.
I'm also a little surprised they had the Lance family secret's all pouring out at once. But again, in line with Laurel's character evolution.
So overall, surprising episode and very good. Looking forward to next week's twist of present day on the island and flashbacks in Starling.
I liked the episode but felicity is really started to get annoying and I couldn't even stand how Roy popped of to Oliver like that he had no right to do that. I am happy that Thea now knows that Oliver is the arrow and she handled it better than I thought she would so that was good.
I think Digg, Felicity and Roy are right... They stood by themselves, it's not ok that Oliver comes back and starts bossing around in alpha male plan. All of them and Laurel included should have a say now. They all earned it. Both Felicity and Roy were right.
I don't even know what to rate this episode. I still haven't voted and i posted my comment over an hour ago. I've not be happy with these last few episodes, I wasn't happy with tonight's, like everything is such a mess. It's giving me a headache.
It was a good episode. The only two things that i didn't like were part of Felicity's speech to Laurel and that Digg is still doing nothing while Oliver takes only Laurel with him to a place lifes are at risks...
Felicity said Sara was this dark person without a light, while Laurel did still have one. I get what they tried to do. They tried to mirror Sara's "you need someone who can harness that light that's still inside of you"/"we're not our mask and we need people in our life who don't wear one" for Oliver.
But in order to do that they made Felicity, a character who knew very well Sara was a hero who had a light(Laurel was for her what Felciity is for Oliver), tell us Sara was full of demons. And also the whole Laurel's "once you let the darkness inside, it never comes out" thing of season 2 is out.
Didn't like how that made Sara looks like.
But the episode was good. Oliverfinally said he doesn't trusts Merlyn; Thea knows the secret(wich wasn't used for more drama); Digg, Felicity and Roy stood as equals to Oliver; good fight sequences; Laurel and Quentin's scene... heartbreaking!
Re: the Diggle situation - Someone asked MG on tumblr about why Diggle has been sidelined ever since Laurel took over the BC mantle when she’s still so inexperienced being in the field. He answered by admitting that they are struggling with that and that we can expect to see Diggle in the field in upcoming episodes, which we now know is because there’s a Suicide Squad centric episode coming up. This, of course, doesn’t answer *why* he’s being sidelined, but anyone who watches this show can tell that it’s because they had to make room for Laurel’s storyline and presence on the field and MG is, of course, not going to admit to that. Honestly, I was surprised he admitted to struggling with Diggle’s placement in the show at all (at least, that’s how I took it to mean).
My bone to pick with this is the following: the Suicide Squad episode is just that - ONE episode. And one episode with seeing Digg out in the field doesn’t help to make up for the fact that he’s been completely sidelined in previous situations where it would have made a hell of a lot more sense to see him out there than Laurel (or at the very least accompanying Laurel/Roy/Oliver like in today’s episode), only to see him return to being confined to the Foundry after the SS episode is over.
They could at least give us an explanation as to why he’s decided to stay behind. Maybe he’s thinking about his daughter, or maybe there’s something he could help Felicity with (doubtful). If they wasted screen time on that stupid DJ character, then they could have take some time to give Diggle, a character that ACTUALLY MATTERS, a scene or two in which he gives us an explanation of why he’s sitting out (it still wouldn’t totally make me happy because he’s admitted that he’s fighting for the city too, so it wouldn’t be in character for him to decide to stay out, but it would at least be something). Instead, we see him literally doing nothing in the Foundry…just standing next to Felicity…doing……nothhhiinnngg. And it’s so frustrating to watch because Diggle is such an integral part of Team Arrow.
How was TRoy in suit same as Merlyn when they went for Thea's aid?. She told them they were having sex¿? :v Chase was pointless tbh. Damn. poor Dtve Lance, he finally knows the truth but poor guy tbh. I can see Malcom dying and Ra's leaving Starling City. I just cant see Olliver being able to kill him. The Canary agains Canary scenes were great.
Heavy sigh...I think I'll just vote "Okay" just to be nice, b/c I love the series. But I'm not loving this arc right now. Majority of it, I'm not liking, and I hope that will change soon.
See, I was actually okay with and was rather enjoying seeing Felicity and Laurel having a scene/moment together…right up until that “light” comment. It felt like something that Felicity would never say about someone she considered a friend, someone she saw as a hero even when Sara struggled to believe it herself.
I want Felicity and Laurel to have a friendship, especially because if they are going to be working together I’d rather see them as friends that support each other, than some sort of frenemies. The show has enough drama, it doesn’t need more of it. But it feels like what they’re doing is changing Felicity’s character to prop up Laurel and make her more likable, instead of letting it happen naturally by writing Laurel as someone that Felicity would be friends with.
Honestly, the only reasons why I'm still watching the show is because of Felicity, Diggle, Oliver, Stephen (because he puts that much work into the show), and Olicity in that order. The show hooked me with amazing characters, but now I feel like a fish out of water trying to get unhooked (pun intended).
Well, this year we were supposed to finally have a story about Felicity but in the end she was used as promotion for Ray Palmer and now also as promotion for Laurel Lance... Leaving her just as the love interest for Oliver.
Tbh, i really miss when it was just Oliver, Digg and Felicity in the lair... I miss the good old days.
I'm sick of the unnecesary drama. The Oliver/Felicity/Ray triangle? Not necessary. Oliver fighting almost everytime he speaks to Laurel? Not necessary. Laurel waiting 12 episodes to tell Quentin? Not necessary. Need to keep going?
Well, i don't see people getting mad for shipping things... Just the usual "Digg is doing nothing" and i saw some people(like myself) who weren't happy with the way they "sold" how Sara was...
Don't apologize man that's how you feel, I disagree. But you shouldn't apologize of this. No one should, I guess I'm just bugged that people are just so greatly critiquing an episode, that worked its ass off to fix those critiques.
This episode was such a mess. Nothing flowed and it felt like they were trying to do way too much all while attempting to keep Laurel at the center of it. Normally I can defend the writers and what they're doing but this episode is one I'd like to forget.
You are a cool dude, my friend. But I understand why one would be annoyed especially when something you love is getting crapped on by a lot of people. :)
Well I love this series. It's just in a huge rut right now. The SL's are blah, my favorite characters, are all over the place. I'm just disappointed. And to be disappointed episode after episode in season 3!! Is unacceptable. I'm a fan that if i've loved the series from the beginning, I will always love it, and stick with it to the end Of its' run. I don't "back out" of the series. I've grown to care for these characters since the pilot (and episode 3. For Felicity), and I can't/won't quit on my favorite show because it seems to be going through some crappola phase.
I do not think its alright that they treated Oliver like that and look what laurels say got her, tonight it got her beat up and Oliver had to run in and save her, they didn't even want to listen to Oliver its like they don't even care anymore and he is the one who has been risking his life for years and saving there asses so yeah I would say they should at least listen before they start snapping at him. He had a right to tell Thea to go back upstairs that's his sister an he didn't want her to see that so Roy should of just sucked it up and dealt with it and if he had something to say to Oliver he could have done it at a better time and not right then when it was so much going on.
I totally get you. It's not easy for me to quit a series. I don't think I'm going to quit Arrow unless season 4 is equally disappointing... I miss the lightness the past seasons had, I miss the characters, I miss the focus of each season... I feel like this season is all over the place. But my love for Felicity will prevail.
The Sara thing yeah I was mad a little about that (it felt way too Laurel proping) but I guess if makes sense to me. Sara was a good person who did good, but she by her own admission felt broken and too bogged down by demons. Then when they capped off with be yourself, I guess it made me think that they weren't saying Laurel is better than Sara, just that she had hope and the idea that she could be a hero (I believe and so do the writers I think that she was, but that she couldn't acknowledge it herself or come to terms with the horrors she's seen and done with the league) in a way that Sara did not anymore because of her league experiences. Diggle, I love the guy and I hope he gets stuff in the future, but other characters like Thea, Malcolm, Felicity and Laurel need focus more right now.
Just saying, Oliver would be dead now if it weren't for Digg and Felicity... About Thea, your right, but that wasn't Oliver's problem... His deal was because Roy wasn't a good lill soldier like before and he also yelled at Roy, so both Roy and Felicity yelled at him too(they were all shocked for Laurel). Digg later explained it without everyone being in shock because of Laurel.
Laurel may be the weakest link, but he was in no right to tell her what he told her in that alley. He was a d**k. If he would have taken her with him instead, they could have captured Vertigo earlier.
Raisa was the sweetest! How could I ever forget her? :') I hope she comes back though. Which I doubt she will. Arrow has bigger fish to fry. But mostly I want Walter to come back.
Quentin and Laurel were to Sara what Felicity is for Oliver. That human touch that doesn't wear a mask and can harness the light that remains. When Sara saved the girl from the fire she became a Hero after Laurel's speech, it was pure simbolism. It was Oliver and Felicity's "You're not done fighting" counterpart.
Yes, she had demons. But she had a light, one that her family was able to ignite.
Agreed, agreed, agreed! I miss original Team Arrow too, but I wouldn't mind so much the expansion of this original team if it was just done better and it pains me to say that much of what has been done wrong with it has to do with bringing Laurel in as BC. I've never hated Laurel, even on the occasions where she annoyed me the most in S2, and more than anything I've just always held out hope that she would be better written. For for the most part, they have succeeded in doing so this season...but look at what has happened in order for them to get there: They've killed Sara, they've sidelined Diggle and they've made Felicity a prop to validate her. They've dragged these great characters down in order to compensate for how terribly written they made Laurel's character in seasons 1 and 2. And that's not okay!
And about Felicity - yeah, she basically has no story. And as someone who worships at the altar of Felicity Smoak, I find this particularly insulting to a character that is so essential to Team Arrow. I will also happily admit to being an Olicity shipper, but I want so much more for Felicity's character than just being the woman that every man is in love with.
That's not what Sara thought. You could be right, but it's not what Felicity thought (or told Laurel anyway). Look it was a speech to inspire Laurel. I really don't the writers intend to shit on Sara.
Agreed. My love for Team Arrow, (Oliver, Felicity, Diggle, Roy) will always prevail. But Idt I've ever been this angry with this show before. Season 3's are supposed to be epic, not downers. AndI was SO siked for this season, when it got renewed. When this show began, and before season 3, I promoted this show like crazy, to my friends, to my family, hell to fellow geeks I talk to on the street, to the guys that flirt with me in bars, I'm not joking. And i got them ALL hooked. I'd lose sleep over this show thinking of theories, for next episodes, hell I stayed inside half this summer writing a Arrow/Olicity fanfiction, and now....my passion is on the fritz. I don't like it. It saddens me. I know all TV series go through this but it's mostly like season 5, 6. Or something.
Plus Oliver has a horrible history of robbing every other character on this show of their agency, particularly Laurel and Thea. He absolutely deserved what Laurel, Roy, Felicity and Digg said to him this week.
I am. Yeah I'm not a huge fan of doing that either. But I don't think they are. They're showing a hurt, vulnerable man who feels like every relationship he had was a lie. And he can't take it so he lashes out for power in an attempt to make himself feel better. I think it's very human and justifiable in some respects. Personally I actually love how both Louis' and everyone else is being handled. It's that weird neither side is completely right or wrong, but both have merit and are understandable, and sympathic and human that makes me enjoy suits so much. But that's just me.
I really liked this episode for the sole reason of two big truths that were looming on the show since the beginning of the season, were finally revealed tonight. Even though some scenes annoyed me, the good outweighed the bad in this episode so that's a major plus.
The way that Thea reacted to Ollie being the Arrow really surprised me in a good way. I was nervous that she would lash out at him for keeping a secret for so long but thank god she accepted him. And awww, at her asking him that if he knows how many times she wished she could thank the Arrow. I truly believe this will bring the siblings closer together than ever before!
Also, Quentin finally putting two and two together and came to the conclusion that he lost Sara again really was gutpunching to watch. It was a long time coming (approximately 12 episodes later) but it was definitely one of the most heartbreaking scenes the show has ever done. "My baby. Not again" and then comforts Laurel :(
Yay, Chase has finally died!! I loved that Thea automatically knew that he was up to no good. That's my girl. Also, when Malcolm came rushing in and shot his arrow at his shoulder, donning his Dark Archer suit was badass. Too bad he committed suicide and we didn't see Malcolm take the final death blow at him. That would have been the icing on the cake.
One thing: Where the heck has Ray been in these last couple of episodes? I'm sure a certain number of people are happy we haven't seen him ;) haha. Anyway, he's probably held up in his lab working on his ATOM suit. It's gonna be awesome. Also, after that argument where Felicity called out Oliver on him questioning everyone's choices, the scene where Diggle and Ollie was really great because it was so true. While Team Arrow thought he was dead, they all had to fight for themselves while he was gone.
Now for the bad. Even though it was nice to see Felicity bond with Laurel and give her a pep talk, her saying to Laurel that she has a light inside of her that Sara never had, just to boost her confidence was a real punch in the gut to Sara and really just tainted her legacy. Sara was someone that Felicity greatly respected as a hero and even more so became very good friends with her till the end and just to have her so that about her just left me with a bad taste in my mouth IMO. The only thing I agreed with that talk was Felicity telling her that she should stop trying to be Sara and just be herself.
That last scene made me ridiculously excited for next week's episode! I really believe that it will be one of the series best. It's time for Ollie and Thea's training on Lian Yu!
There's a great quote that every serious writer should apply: "You should never try to trick your audience. They will analize your words and will know the story and characters better than you... they will call you on your BS".
That's exactly what Sara tought in 3x01. She told Oliver "Word of advice, WE are not our masks and we need people in our life who don't wear one". Her family was to her what Felicity is for Oliver... What Tommy should have been for Laurel.
They should have wrote another speech without using those words. They're writers and that's their work. They got paid to do bad writing.
They totally meant to shit on Sara. It's the only way they can make Laurel look good by comparison. If you think it wasn't intentional you're pretty naive.
Gotta agree. I mean, he certainly pulled off the douchebag vibe from the very beginning, lol, but....he was completely useless. At least make him a male version of Cheshire and grow to become an enemy to Team Arrow who's loyalties lie with the League of Assassins or SOMETHING. I still don't even understand why create such a character this season.
She was sweet. Well some "fans" forget characters, so yeah. Maybe she'll pop up in a flashback. It would be fitting to do that now, based on the flashbacks we got tonight. Unfortunately, Actor for Walter, will not be coming back. I was sad about that too. I did like him.
Another one? They have four field operatives and don't know how to handle them... they'll add another? They need to sit down and give each character a task and a purpose: Oliver the main action hero, Digg strategy, Felicity hacking/gathering info, Roy as field sidekick, Laurel as a free agent that pops up now and then...
They don't know how to handle so many characters... They can properly write up until 3(two on the field and one for support).
yeah I'm a little confused how they are going to handle it. Roy is pretty much "Speedy" already. I don't get the point of Oliver having another sidekick.
I think it actually didn't try to "fix" them. The writers looked us in the face and said, "Hey we know what problems you are going to have with these stories." And then they didn't do anything about them. That frustrated me. They knew the holes, they understood the frustration and they did it anyway. I don't believe annoying people is good drama. I believe it is a second-tier sort of drama dreamed up by showrunners who spend too much time on social media and start crafting stories with the audiences' reaction in mind, instead of crafting stories that have internal logic and are compelling within themselves.
That doesn't mean she thought there was light in her. She literally said over the second season consistently that she thought there wasn't. . Yeah I disagree with that quote. Since a) they spent days writing it. B) fans are subjective more than writers, and especially in TV show fandoms like Arrow. In your opinion. Look, she had a light (her family), but that's different than feeling like she had hope for herself or that she could be better. Sara consistently always thought that. For example take Batman. He loves Damien, Dick, anne Tim like his own sons. And he loves Gotham. He's a damn good person. But he is severely damaged and is at times on the verge of psychotic breaks. After a while some people just don't know how to deal with pain after seeing it. Like Oliver in the beginning of the series. But he unlike Sara was able to realize he wasn't a killer. Unfortunately she couldn't before she died. I liked Sara, thought she was a hero, and so did the writers (Laurel's hallucination, 2x23 and 3x02 prove that) but she wasn't able to let go of that image of herself. And that's okay.
I really really liked this episode. Especially compared to the last one. The pacing was great. I will start with Negatives Not much - Kill Diggle 2k15. If Oliver don't see Diggle as a soldier even when Roy is unavailable then what is the need for him. I love Diggle. But he is dead weight now. Just kill the character off and let's move on - Felicity saying Sara had no light. That was a bit Laurel propping. Wish the dialogue was phrased different or said by some other character. As a huge Sara fan I was sad hearing that. - Thea's sudden I will never trust you or forgive you for all the things you have done attitude to Malcolm. Babe, just last episode you were cool with him being the mass murderer.
Positives There was a lot - Oliver coming clean to Thea and her reaction. Oh my babies. Oliver's face when Thea hugged him. I just want to wrap them both in a blanket and give them warm soup. Wonder how she will react when she knows about Sara. - Laurel telling the truth to Quentin and his reaction. Give him a sleeping pill. Let the poor guy sleep - Malcolm being the devious bastard he is. I want to see in to his head. When he talks about fatherly love LOL smh. - Thea being over whelmed by seeing Laurel injured and DJ dead. - Felicity and Laurel friendship. We asked for female bonding. We got it and it is great. - Team Arrow's reactions to Oliver's high handedness. They built this up very well in last few episodes - Diggle and Oliver's scene in the bar. That was a great dialogue Digg. - Oliver calling Laurel an addict. That was a good scene. That alley is blessed. Let's keep it. - Roy being there for Thea. - Hong Kong flashbacks are getting interesting. Waller is a bitch. Oliver's face when she threatened Thea was heart wrenching. - Brother sister duo in Lian Yu - DJ DOUCHEBAG is dead. PARTY!!!!!!
Over all a solid episode which puts together pieces for what is to come. Way way better than last two episodes.
Exactly. How are they going to handle all these people together. Either make some of them recurring or write one or two characters off. I would rather see Diggle written off than being reduced to a token in the arrow cave.
I kinda agree that Diggle should be killed off. I mean even when Roy was with Thea Oliver STILL asked Laurel to come instead of Diggle? But they never will kill him because he's the token minority in the main cast. (I'm saying this as a black person)
If you call Thea a killer when she was drugged and has no recollection about it you have to call Laurel a killer too. She killed Officer Daly last season remember. Emptied a whole clip into him thinking he is brother blood.
Sometimes it's not even about how well written or not the characters are - having that many people on screen just becomes problematic because you can't properly do justice to the story or development of one, without having to put the rest of the characters in the background for stretches of time. And eventually the dynamic between them all suffers.
I hope this isn't too off-topic, but I look at a show like Agents of SHIELD (which I also love), where this season started off with so many new characters added to what was already a sizeable team, that's without counting the main characters on Hydra's side. By the time the winter finale came around and we saw Agent Trip's death, it was almost necessary to do it if only because they weren't doing ANYTHING with this character. And I feel like his death was a consequence of having too many characters on screen and the writers just didn't quite know what to do him.
I don't want that happening with Arrow and as ODA says, I'd much rather they make some of them recurring or written off (though I hope that's not Diggle's fate because he's one of my favorites).
I didn't bring minority representation deliberately. Diggle was/is a great character. His background is that of a soldier and that is why Oliver brought him in. I get that he does not have any comic book legacy. But that should inspire the writers to make him better and give him a hero's tale. It's so clear these writers know only to rip off on comics and they don't know how to write original characters. Hence they are thinking of making Digg into John Stewart/Green Lantern or Wild Cat(heaven forbid). Same with the lack of direction for Felicity and using her to prop all the masked heroes. Just write them off and work on what you do best. Enhancing already established characters.
I am really sad and hurt seeing Oliver not using him in the field even when Roy is unavailable. He is dead weight now. Rather than seeing him like this I would prefer him getting a hero's death or going away with Lyla to head a division of Argus. Or better create a SS spin off and send him away as a lead.
noooooooooooooo O_O How dare you let that into this world. Honestly, the fact that Diggle and Felicity are still there leaves me hope that the show can become better
He said they are struggling with writing Diggle in the field while shooting ep.18. Which means until Ep.17 SS episode he is going to be useless. Why have a character loiter around to see one episode with him getting importance. Why not write him off or make him a recurring character so that the episodes he come in will have some depth and weight.
I feel like if that's the case for John Diggle, it'll soon be the case for Felicity Smoak. But I gotta say, if Diggle leaves the show I think I may be out too. I'd much rather have Laurel and Roy leave
Please do. Tell them to take a plane out to Laurelsville, in Doucheatopia, Massachusetts. Once off the place, take a ride down to....Yousuck RD. And make a left onto, Noonemattersbut, ST. And if you look straight ahead, you'll see a douchy house, with some guy in the front yard sitting in a black marble hot tub, with gold rim, and a mailbox that says Mr. DLL. You can't miss it..he'll take you to the um....room. ; )
Well you knew this would happen when....well you knew. People weren't just talking out of their ass. It's a TV curse. I guess. Rare, but it does exist. I just fear it'll go in the same direction as SH. I wouldn't like that at all. But anyways, I understand how you feel, (and I'm gonna pretend you took back that last comment). Me personally, if he's gonna be underused like this, for stupid reasons. Then out of your choices, I'd like him to get a nice send off, by next season, with Lyla, to deal with Argus. That would be a nice, well deserved exit, for our Diggle. I'd like that.
When I said kill him I actually meant about writing him off one way or other. Something has to be done. I feel insulted as an audience every time Diggle is left behind in the Arrow cave. And I am tired of complaining about it.
The thing is, it wasn't Sara who said that. Oliver can think he can't be Oliver Queen and The Arrow, but that doesn't mean Felicity or Diggle would neglect his light and that he can do it. Felicity knew who Sara was; just like she knows even after all the crap Oliver went throught, he still has a light. Laurel told Sara when she said "If your soul is doomed, why they named you after soemthing so beautiful". They all were witnesses of Sara's heroics and the light she had(how she protected Sin and woman who where attacked by the hand of mans, for example).
Your point would be correct if Sara was the one telling that. But it wasn't her, it was Felicity.
This was bad writing or poor wording, call it what you want. But it craps all over Sara's legacy.
Show already has not much place for Felicity either. That's why we are getting a nemesis for Felicity on The Flash and one dialogue from Wells gives us more background on her than two seasons combined on Arrow. But she is at a way better place than Diggle. Her character changed and grew this season.
If they do the favor of writing Diggle and Felicity off then I can write off Arrow from my must watch list. Laurel will never be written off. So no need asking for that. I vote for Roy to be send away to TNT's titans show.
Heavy sigh...aren't we all. There's things I would love not to complain about. But it's hard not to when it's in your face all the time. Maybe the rest of the season, something good will come out of it, and not just Diggle's Wedding! = p
Yeah, it's sad that we have gotten to the point where it's better to get it over with and just kill off Diggle than keep on seeing him on the sidelines not doing anything and going out into the field :(
I was hurt but I didn't actually mind that much about the Sara thing. Sara was troubled but it hurt that it came from Felicity. But otherwise Laurel needed someone to champion her.
That being said how can we shrug off the Diggle issue. It's insulting our intelligence when they do things like that. On one scene Oliver is shaking Laurel about her not being a hero and not ready but few scenes later we see him taking her along and benching Diggle. How can we not criticize that? Being a fan for the show does not mean we can be blind to it's flaws. They need to incapacitate Diggle or send him away for few episodes until they have a need for him. Also when has Diggle actually got any focus this season. Even Oliver's absence didn't give him any importance.
gave it a great as I liked the advancements of Thea finally getting read in on everything, the team letting Oliver know that the team dynamic has evolved in his absence, Laurel finally getting accepted (perhaps she will get some training with Oliver/Dig now or something a bit more advanced) great scene with Laurel finally telling her father about Sarah... some good stuff that made the suspension of disbelieving of a lot of things this season easier to take: Oliver's still miraculous resurrection from a mortal sword wound and falling off a cliff without any broken bones/serious internal injuries after a little over a month (I might've bought the whole Lazarus pits angle from the comics a bit more but here it's Tatsu's herbs and teas...), and the whole decision to work with Merlyn.... ridiculous but entertaining enough. They really need to find another Arrow lair that is a bit more secret and harder to access as Merlyn was able to hack and spy on them from the computer that even a computer genius like Felicity didn't detect and just a door with a combo lock doesn't seem all that secure, but heck the whole bar/nightclub thing might eventually be closed as it seems that there is hardly anyone ever there....lol a lot of holes, but I still love the show...
Finally, a really good episode of Arrow. The pacing, the character development, the Laurel were just perfect. Except, i wish the writers came up with other ways to flesh out characters instead of using Vertigo.
I rated this episode "good" which was probably being too generous. My favorite part was probably Oliver telling Thea that he was the arrow and her proud response to the news (which was unexpected). Usually Thea irks me,, she was one of the few characters who didn't piss me off in this episode. Her sudden mistrust of Malcolm made no sense to me, given that she still didn't know that he made her kill Sara, but at least she was finally on Oliver's side. Thea hasn't always been the best judge of character, but she figured out that Chase (eventually) And I liked the brother/sister outing to the island. The other great/sad seen was Quentin finally learning that Sara was dead. I really couldn't take him not knowing for much longer. When he broke down at the news, I wanted to cry too. A very well-acted scene. Also, Sara's appearance reminded me of how much I missed her.
Oliver was the usual Oliver, but I still don't get his collaborating or even trusting Malcolm Merlyn. I agreed with Felicity's anger in the last episode, but I still don't like the way she and Roy are treating Oliver I'm tired of everyone accusingly telling Oliver "you were gone!" and that they had to take care of things. He was absent because he nearly sacrificed his life in order to save Thea and other civilians, not because he was on some vacation or sabbatical. Also, just because they took over while he was gone, didn't mean that they were doing it that well without him, so their overbearing attitude is annoying (including Laurel's, who shows up at crime scenes and does her own thing need to listen to Oliver).. And what's even more annoying is that aside from Thea and perhaps Diggle, none of them seem to actually care that he was practically dead and that he's now alive! Would it kill them to actually be happy for him and treat him nicely? So basically team Arrow+1 sucks and Oliver probably wisheds hwe . Except maybe Diggle and that's because apparently his character no longer fights, but instead plays the role of the supportive friend who is always there to give Oliver some kind of insightful advice. I did not like Roy and Felicity in this episode and hopefully, they'll get over themselves by the next episode
Yeah, that bastard. He goes to fight an impossible fight, nearly dies, comes back still hurt and thinks he still have some right over the team he build...
The truth(s) finally came out! Oliver telling Thea went just about as I expected it to go. She was proud of him! I never understood why people fixated on Ollie lying to her like it was equivalent to any number of lies from other characters. She was never going to hate Oliver for not telling her his hero identity! A hero has every right to keep their identity secret. Plus, Thea has been wanting Oliver to open up to her and this one huge step helps to answer so many of her other questions. It would have been childish to hold it against Ollie...Then again she has been childish once or twice before I guess...
As for how she reacted to Merlyn I am a bit conflicted. Yes Thea hates lies and he has been lying to her about a lot. I can understand not trusting him easily enough. That said, the 180-degree turn is so annoying to me! Merlyn is still her bio-dad, he still has saved her numerous times, and he still is a necessary evil. I would never trust the man personally either, but to ignore all rationale to the point of wanting to run away is nonsensical. Not surprised I guess since they have made Thea spin round and round going one direction and another all series. At least she came around in the end if for no other reason than trusting her brother.
I've never been so happy to feel so sad! Laurel finally told her dad about Sarah.. Kinda. Enough for him to figure it out on his own. It should have been done a long time ago....
I may be in the minority again, but I liked Laurel's Vertigo trips! I thought her battling her inner demons was effectively illustrated by having her battle Sara. They were not making Sara out to be some uncaring or mean person... That was not Sara after all being as she is dead! It was a reflection of Laurel's guilt and fear. Anyone who has had a bad trip knows how things manifest and get twisted.. I thought their handling of it was near perfect. In fact I think that cathartic break is what lead to her telling Quentin about Sara as well. So if for no other reason the Vertigo trips were a very good thing!
I mostly enjoyed Team Arrow giving Ollie a reality check... For whatever reason they felt they needed to vent...He was gone and now he is back... Get over it already. They act as if they were the ones that were killed. - well, almost died - not Ollie. Mostly Felicity who is acting like a petulant child. That said, Ollie can be his own worst enemy and needs to rely on them more than he does. I'm not saying that he should take a vote on all decisions - He is the leader it should absolutely NOT be any form of democracy....
The slightly disappointing aspects tonight... - I had been waiting for Merlyn to kill DJ Doofus for months! One arrow was not enough dammit He should not have been allowed to kill himself... Grrrr. - I was not a fan of Felicity being Laurel's moral support and saying Laurel has a light that Sara did not. It seemed out of place coming from Felicity and absolutely untrue on top of that. - I'm growing a bit bored of Oliver's inability to be civil to anyone when in protective-mode!. Even when he is right about things he often is far more abrasive than he should be. Especially to Laurel and Thea.... I get the identity crisis.. The Arrow vs Ollie dynamic, but still... - Lastly, if I never see another scene with Laurel as Canary fighting someone with her tonfa it will not be soon enough. I will be happy, but her awkward technique has already scarred me I think!
Along with everything I listed Thea got her own reality check on Merlyn, but also on her own fighting ability when DJ dismissed her rather casually. She needed realize that just because she has some fighting skills does not make her a warrior or even all that bad ass!
I may be in the minority, but I thought this was the best episode in a very long time!
I really enjoyed it! only two issues: Diggle still not enough to do, MG get your act together or take some lessons from Whedon or Singer, they know how to write for an ensamble. Thea turning so quickly on Malcom, she new what horrible things he has done before. But I can overlook this because she finally knows!
ahh ODA 99% agree with everything you wrote. Ok since I never was a huge Sara fan I did not mind the phrasing from Felicity, because the light thing was something Sara herself denied in S2. And I really had to laugh at another pep talk: Felicity Heroe Therapy no .... I lost count ;-)
Looking forward to Thea learning about Sara... that it was her hands that killed Sara even if she was mind controlled by Malcolm. Given the big "we must trust each other" theme that could blow up on them later.
I voted Great. It was the strongest episode since the cross-over event episode IMO. The reasons are- 1.Thea finally got to know oliver's real identity and also everyone else also came clean completely. At least now she won't be clueless moving forward.Ollie took the right decision on this one. 2.Laurel finally told her father about sara's death. This truth needed to come out 2-3 episodes ago. 3.Laurel finally came to terms with her inner demons and the guilt regarding keeping sarah's death a secret. She also stood up to oliver, that's a win. 4.The whole team, especially roy & felicity showed the real picture of the team to oliver.Go girl! Oliver needs to start respecting other people's decisions. Not everyone needs his saving and he understood that clearly by the end of the episode. 5.I loved thea got to know malcolm's real face & also caught that DJ guy(Forgot his name) red-handed-didn't expect that moment. So glad he committed suicide, even if that's a horrible thing to say. 6.I also love the contrast the writers provided-From no on,the flashback will proceed in Starling city whereas the present time will move forward in the island,at least partly. 7.Last but not the least-No ray palmer! That's a win right there!
I hate to say this, but this whole Black Canary arc is not working, and I say this as someone who never had a problem with Laurel in the past. Despite what the producers said, the BC story ended up being rushed and forced. Worst of all, it messed with the team dynamics and resulted in Diggle being sidelined in order to justify Laurel's importance. People complain about Oliver being rude to Laurel, but what surprised me more is how quickly he let her have her own way. Do people remember what Roy went through in order for Oliver to finally bring him into the group? Oliver even shot him with an Arrow in order to keep him off the streets! And it took getting MIrakuru in his system for Oliver to finally take him in and even then, Roy wasn't allowed to fight until he had his anger under control. That kind of story actually showed real character progression. Contrast this with Laurel, who took a few boxing lessons, put on a costume suit and stubbornly insisted on being in the front line of every fight. Yes, there were some objections, but after a few unpleasant exchanges of words, Laurel gets her own way and suddenly Diggle decides that she is so important that he's wiling to step aside and let her do the fighting and within one episode, Oliver also accepts her.
i generally think it's a mistake for writers to try to oversell the story of a supporting character way in advance. Ultimately, it takes away a certain element of surprise and deprives the viewers of the experience of watching a character develop without the being told in advance by the writers. I also found the promotion excessive and in many cases excessive. For me, the first turn-off was the incessant promotional photos sent out by the producers last year featuring Laurel posing in the vigilante outfit worn by her recently deceased sister. Not only was it tacky, but it was also in poor taste, given how much people missed Sara.
I honestly don't understand why they rushed Laurel's BC so much, especially given that they had 2 . entire seasons to develop it properly and did nothing The funny thing is that I used to like Thea far less than Laurel, but I'm actually enjoying Thea's journey to becoming a masked superhero a lot more. Her story is actually progressing at a pace that fits naturally with the story (as naturally as possible, with Malcolm Merlyn involved!). For whatever reason, the writers did not think it was necessarily to rush and overpromote Thea's arc; so she may not have had a lot of promotion, but ultimately, it has been to her advantage. As much as I dislike Malcolm Merlyn, I love the idea of Oliver taking Thea to the island in order get rigorous training and I also liked her practice sessions with Malcolm (especially the swordfighting). When Thea finally (hopefully) joins the group, I think it will happen in a more natural manner and I look forward to this!.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Even though we knew about Vertigo from the promos, it was awesome to see Arrow do something crazy like have a Black Canary vs Black Canary fight as the cold open!
ReplyDeleteGuys I love Thea again! Finally my favourite brother and sister are together. They were so sweet.
ReplyDeleteAt last Quentin knows. My heart broke for him.
I'm so freaking glad Thea knows and Quentin knows! I was getting tired complaining about the same things week after week after week!
ReplyDeleteI though Oliver was going to be more reluctant about Laurel fighting, but yeah, it was getting old, so I'm also glad we're pass that.
And I'm just... wow. I don't like what the show is doing to the characters I fell in love with in seasons one and two :/
ReplyDeleteOh well, at least next week looks good. Hopefully it lives up to its hype.
Thank god the DJ is dead. When I saw Thea slept with him it made me sick lol
ReplyDeleteLove it Happy Oliver told Thea and she wasn't mad and Quentin knows glad Oliver got around about Laurel so here for the friendship with Laurel and Felicity love the Black Canary vs Black Canary
ReplyDeleteI miss the team.
ReplyDeletewas the episode good I can only watch arrow on hulu plus I don't the cw on dish
ReplyDeleteWhy is Diggle still on the bench?
ReplyDeleteAs much as Oliver needs to adjust to how things have changed, I swear way too many people in the Olicity tag are taking a disturbing level of joy out of Felicity telling Oliver off.
ReplyDeleteOliver is being a non-communicative asshole, but Felicity is also being a very bitter bitch, who somehow finds it necessary to assert her newfound authority whenever she has the chance, and she's doing it for the purpose of putting Oliver "in his place".
Give the guy a freaking break.
I enjoyed parts of it very much but overall I didn't really like the episode.
ReplyDeleteIt was a really angry judgy episode.
ReplyDeleteThey put way too many arguments in one episode without resolving anything.
I mean, I could tell you why I think he's being benched but I feel like I'd be crucified.
ReplyDeletedoes it have on it ray?
ReplyDeleteLet me take this one.
ReplyDeleteChase was the most useless stupid character to grace Arrow's screen.
ReplyDeleteSo Laurel could be BC. Because she's an important asset and the city is safe in her hands and has light inside of her that Sara NEVER had.
ReplyDeleteEven Raisa did more than him. God, I miss her. Whatever happened to her?
ReplyDeleteThank God no.
ReplyDeleteI almost wish it did, so we can say goodbye to him earlier!
ReplyDeleteThis episode was better than like week. I'll say that. Probably because Oliver was back, probably because Sara made an appearance. Actually, it's because of BOTH of those reasons. But F**K did this episode piss me offfffff.
ReplyDeleteThe opening sequence was AWESOME!
Good point. But I can never wish to see him.
ReplyDeleteThey should at least say something like... Diggle doesn't waht to be on the field because of his daughter or something. It just looks stupid right now.
ReplyDeleteAm I the only one who heard "Daggett Pharmaceuticals"?
ReplyDeleteAnother sweet Batman reference.
See? I tould you that the moment she tell Quentin Sara is dead you would find another reason to hate her. Lol
ReplyDeleteIt's kind of funny.
I guess I am dead.
ReplyDeleteYou're dead.
ReplyDeletenicholas you can go to www.vidics.com and watch it on that site it is totally free, no commericals just adds when you click on a link and watch it all you want too for free with no cost
ReplyDeleteShannon, let's be positive, at least now we won't have to complain about Quentin not knowing and Thea not knowing! We can move on and complain about something else, like how Oliver is being so very dumb in trusting Malcolm!
ReplyDeleteAnd waste screen time on him?
ReplyDeleteDiggle centric episodes are usually pretty boring.
ReplyDeleteIn my recollection I do not remember a single episode focused on him being extremely memorable.
ReplyDeleteWho cares? She was a week ago saying "oh, I hate her because she is lying to her father" and now she isn't anymore she is calling Laurel a bitch.
ReplyDeleteHaters gonna hate, there's no valid point to hear a hater making a point about something.
Or how toxic Lauriver is even when they are not an item! Or how the team was about to throw acid at Oliver because he did the unthinkable and died and dared to come back!
ReplyDeleteOk. I'll try and be positive.
ReplyDeleteBut yes, I am dead. :(
ReplyDeleteI know i hope Thea and Roy will get back together they were a great couple in Arrow now that Thea knows about Oliver is Arrow and Roy is Arsenal Thea and Roy would make a great couple again.
ReplyDeleteWho are you?
ReplyDeleteI bet he's back next week, building that stupid suit, ugh.
ReplyDeleteI am the zoombie DJ.
ReplyDeleteI never said I wouldn't.
ReplyDeleteI'm digging Laurel right now, but the fact that she didn't tell Lance about Sara was one of MANY reasons people don't like her. Just like a lot of people don't like Felicity right now, or Thea, or Malcolm, or whatever....
ReplyDeleteWhy did they introduce so many arguments to not resolve any of them?
ReplyDeleteThe team all has their own opinions and everybody is yelling at each other.
ReplyDeleteNo Brandon said he will come back in 15. Next week is tge flashback episode they can't put him in there.
ReplyDeleteHow manytimes has Oliver said that about himself? And we know he's wrong!
ReplyDeleteIt was awesome Felicity who said that. I am just pointing out that isn't the first time someone recognize Sara's darkness.
ReplyDeleteHe came, he acted smug, he annoyed us, spied on Thea then killed himself!!!
ReplyDeleteAt least Diggle centric episodes makes sense. But when the show focuses on other characters like Laurel and and Ray, Felicity and Diggle are either sidelined/made incompetent/or made to act out of character? I'm not okay with that.
ReplyDeleteYou and me both. On Both counts!! Sickness then Death. Lol in that order. Lol
ReplyDeleteawesome, i was so glad they're finally back and DJ Douchebag WAS useless i'm thinking of a reason he was there but can't come up with one, now you see any hope for Roy and Thea?
ReplyDeletewho?
ReplyDeleteA little. Although I'm annoyed at him.
ReplyDeleteJust to clarify: at her worst Laurel was pulling the trigger on the wrong man.
ReplyDeleteyou got that right! and Starling will never know and that's messed up
ReplyDeletewhy?
ReplyDeleteArsenal and ArSpedy the deadly couple duo could replace GA and BC since it unlikely they will get there
ReplyDeletei need that right now!!!! i actually thought she would kiss him on the lips and be back together right then
ReplyDeleteOne day he's defending Malcolm and the next he's about to shoot Oliver because he's working with him!
ReplyDeleteBlack Canary vs Canary but yeah it was great
ReplyDeleteoh huh that WAS confusing
ReplyDeleteCall me crazy but I think this may have been my favorite episode of Arrow thus far.
ReplyDeletewhy would you call yourself Dj Douchebag?
ReplyDeletehe's dead? Who killed him?
ReplyDeleteOLIVER AND THEA BROTHER AND SISTER AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHOOOOO!!!!!!!! i loved all their scenes together and that last scene with them was hilarious, i need Roy and Thea back together NOW!!!!
ReplyDeletea combo of Roy/Oliver/Thea could dangerous who would want to mess with two and half archers?
ReplyDeletehaha yeah. His flip flop was so weird. I knew it would happen though since the episode description said that he would be telling Thea to stay away from Malcolm. Him defending Malcolm made no sense to begin with. My head canon was in the last episode he was just defending him for the benefit of Thea.
ReplyDeleteHe is now an extension to Thea's mind. Which is so irritating.
ReplyDeleteI really liked this episode because it tied up several loose ends and propelled the main storyline of Oliver preparing himself to face off with Ra's one last time.
ReplyDeleteTonight I thought the ladies were great.
I read somewhere Felicity and Ray will appear in The Flash and Ray will be Atom in The Flash there is a pic of his suit and The Flash Suit together.
ReplyDeleteI suppose I'm a little stunned by the sudden shifts of Thea's allegiances. Though it has stayed in line with her character evolution, it does make sense she's more willing to trust Oliver over Malcolm now that Oliver has told her his big secret. I'm still wondering how her being compelled by Malcolm to murder Sara will change things for all 3.
ReplyDeleteI'm also a little surprised they had the Lance family secret's all pouring out at once.
ReplyDeleteAnd now he is a zombie dbag.
ReplyDeleteWell then bring on the fire. Lol That'll take care of that problem. Cremation.
ReplyDeleteI think Digg, Felicity and Roy are right... They stood by themselves, it's not ok that Oliver comes back and starts bossing around in alpha male plan. All of them and Laurel included should have a say now. They all earned it. Both Felicity and Roy were right.
ReplyDeleteWe could really use Firestorm now (for scientific reasons of course) lol
ReplyDeleteI don't even know what to rate this episode. I still haven't voted and i posted my comment over an hour ago. I've not be happy with these last few episodes, I wasn't happy with tonight's, like everything is such a mess. It's giving me a headache.
ReplyDeleteThat should be our next crossover. Lol
ReplyDeleteCan we plz use Ray as the torch? Two birds one stone kinda thing.
ReplyDeleteI voted poor. Because at least Thea and Quentin were told the truth. FINALLY.
ReplyDeleteSounds good to me. But idk if I can wait that long to light his ass.
ReplyDeleteIt was a good episode. The only two things that i didn't like were part of Felicity's speech to Laurel and that Digg is still doing nothing while Oliver takes only Laurel with him to a place lifes are at risks...
ReplyDeleteFelicity said Sara was this dark person without a light, while Laurel did still have one.
ReplyDeleteMy bone to pick with this is the following: the Suicide Squad episode is just that - ONE episode.
Hahahaha patience my dear we to need to make it look like an accident lol
ReplyDeleteI'll make it look like an accident...QUICK! Lol
ReplyDeleteHow was TRoy in suit same as Merlyn when they went for Thea's aid?. She told them they were having sex¿? :v
ReplyDeleteChase was pointless tbh.
Damn. poor Dtve Lance, he finally knows the truth but poor guy tbh.
ReplyDeleteLol
ReplyDeleteUnrelated comic books question Just popped in my head. Is there a superhero that can read minds?
Well that was awesome.
ReplyDeleteYes to everything about Felicity/Laurel/Sara.
ReplyDeleteSee, I was actually okay with and was rather enjoying seeing Felicity and Laurel having a scene/moment together…right up until that “light” comment.
It was about being a dick to Thea. Not about Malcolm. That scene had nothing to do with working with Malcolm.
ReplyDeleteHonestly, the only reasons why I'm still watching the show is because of Felicity, Diggle, Oliver, Stephen (because he puts that much work into the show), and Olicity in that order. The show hooked me with amazing characters, but now I feel like a fish out of water trying to get unhooked (pun intended).
ReplyDeleteYou know I hate to say this but when I read the comments for this episode, I understand Mac's dislike of our fandom a little.
ReplyDeletelmao, sorry :p This episode just wasn't good for me. It made me uncomfortable :/
ReplyDeleteWell, this year we were supposed to finally have a story about Felicity but in the end she was used as promotion for Ray Palmer and now also as promotion for Laurel Lance... Leaving her just as the love interest for Oliver.
ReplyDeleteTbh, i really miss when it was just Oliver, Digg and Felicity in the lair...
ReplyDeleteDon't apologize man that's how you feel, I disagree. But you shouldn't apologize of this. No one should, I guess I'm just bugged that people are just so greatly critiquing an episode, that worked its ass off to fix those critiques.
ReplyDeleteThis episode was such a mess. Nothing flowed and it felt like they were trying to do way too much all while attempting to keep Laurel at the center of it. Normally I can defend the writers and what they're doing but this episode is one I'd like to forget.
ReplyDeleteI think "Bad luck Brian" should be here: "Gets interesting. Next episode kills himself".
ReplyDeleteYou are a cool dude, my friend. But I understand why one would be annoyed especially when something you love is getting crapped on by a lot of people. :)
ReplyDeleteWell I love this series.
ReplyDeleteI do not think its alright that they treated Oliver like that and look what laurels say got her, tonight it got her beat up and Oliver had to run in and save her, they didn't even want to listen to Oliver its like they don't even care anymore and he is the one who has been risking his life for years and saving there asses so yeah I would say they should at least listen before they start snapping at him. He had a right to tell Thea to go back upstairs that's his sister an he didn't want her to see that so Roy should of just sucked it up and dealt with it and if he had something to say to Oliver he could have done it at a better time and not right then when it was so much going on.
ReplyDeleteI totally get you. It's not easy for me to quit a series. I don't think I'm going to quit Arrow unless season 4 is equally disappointing... I miss the lightness the past seasons had, I miss the characters, I miss the focus of each season... I feel like this season is all over the place. But my love for Felicity will prevail.
ReplyDeleteI think she went back to her country. I miss her too. Lol I put her in my fanfic. Lol I'm surprised you remember her. = )
ReplyDeletebelieve it or not the reviews of the episode that have been released are actually good. So I guess this site's complaints are the minority lol.
ReplyDeleteThe Sara thing yeah I was mad a little about that (it felt way too Laurel proping) but I guess if makes sense to me.
ReplyDeleteThank you my friend. For understanding. Still awesome nickname btw. :D
ReplyDeleteWell...at least he's not dead. At least we can be thankful for that right? B/c we know what happens when important characters die. ; )
ReplyDeleteJust saying, Oliver would be dead now if it weren't for Digg and Felicity...
ReplyDeleteLaurel may be the weakest link, but he was in no right to tell her what he told her in that alley. He was a d**k. If he would have taken her with him instead, they could have captured Vertigo earlier.
:D And you too, for being patient with the naysayers, including me.
ReplyDeletelmaooooo are you up to date with the show? Because I'm really hating the whole "demonize Louis Litt at all costs" thing they have going on right now.
Ugh. :p Why???
ReplyDeleteRaisa was the sweetest! How could I ever forget her? :') I hope she comes back though. Which I doubt she will. Arrow has bigger fish to fry. But mostly I want Walter to come back.
ReplyDeleteThe Queen's maid way back when in season 1 :)
ReplyDeleteAll I can say is I agree to disagree
ReplyDeleteQuentin and Laurel were to Sara what Felicity is for Oliver. That human touch that doesn't wear a mask and can harness the light that remains. When Sara saved the girl from the fire she became a Hero after Laurel's speech, it was pure simbolism. It was Oliver and Felicity's "You're not done fighting" counterpart.
ReplyDeleteYes, she had demons. But she had a light, one that her family was able to ignite.
That was totally neglected here.
ReplyDeleteAnd about Felicity - yeah, she basically has no story. And as someone who worships at the altar of Felicity Smoak, I find this particularly insulting to a character that is so essential to Team Arrow. I will also happily admit to being an Olicity shipper, but I want so much more for Felicity's character than just being the woman that every man is in love with.
Yeah the ratings are great, the reviews are decent. I guess this will probably be the new direction of the show lol.
ReplyDeleteThat's not what Sara thought. You could be right, but it's not what Felicity thought (or told Laurel anyway). Look it was a speech to inspire Laurel. I really don't the writers intend to shit on Sara.
ReplyDeleteAgreed.
ReplyDeletePlus Oliver has a horrible history of robbing every other character on this show of their agency, particularly Laurel and Thea. He absolutely deserved what Laurel, Roy, Felicity and Digg said to him this week.
ReplyDeleteI am.
ReplyDeleteI'm not surprised.
ReplyDeleteRaisa is the maid in the pilot episode
ReplyDeleteToo bad they had to bond by making Sara out to be a bad person.
ReplyDeletewhat? no i'm asking who's Raisa
ReplyDeleteI really liked this episode for the sole reason of two big truths that were looming on the show since the beginning of the season, were finally revealed tonight. Even though some scenes annoyed me, the good outweighed the bad in this episode so that's a major plus.
ReplyDeleteThe way that Thea reacted to Ollie being the Arrow really surprised me in a good way.
It's time for Ollie and Thea's training on Lian Yu!
ohhhh!!!! right my bad LOL
ReplyDeleteI agree on everything. (Except for two things) But I agree.
ReplyDeleteThere's a great quote that every serious writer should apply: "You should never try to trick your audience. They will analize your words and will know the story and characters better than you... they will call you on your BS".
ReplyDeleteThat's exactly what Sara tought in 3x01.
He was the maid seen only in the pilot episode and mentioned by name twice afterwards.
ReplyDeleteThey totally meant to shit on Sara. It's the only way they can make Laurel look good by comparison. If you think it wasn't intentional you're pretty naive.
ReplyDeletei really hated that about Felicity, how dare she!!!
ReplyDeletethe cw is on dish, channel 50.
ReplyDeleteGotta agree.
ReplyDeleteidiotic to do that!!!
ReplyDeleteShe was sweet. Well some "fans" forget characters, so yeah. Maybe she'll pop up in a flashback. It would be fitting to do that now, based on the flashbacks we got tonight. Unfortunately, Actor for Walter, will not be coming back. I was sad about that too. I did like him.
ReplyDeleteLOL!! Yes.
ReplyDeleteOur has Arrow on at 7:00PM on channel 916.
ReplyDeleteseem to me this is where Thea story arc starts.......slowly becoming the hero "Speedy"
ReplyDeleteThat's not even shitting on her. They literally pedestaled her in Laurel's mind. They have spent episodes consistently drilling that Sara was a hero.
ReplyDeleteAnother one? They have four field operatives and don't know how to handle them... they'll add another? They need to sit down and give each character a task and a purpose: Oliver the main action hero, Digg strategy, Felicity hacking/gathering info, Roy as field sidekick, Laurel as a free agent that pops up now and then...
ReplyDeleteThey don't know how to handle so many characters... They can properly write up until 3(two on the field and one for support).
I'm from northern Missouri we don't get cw on dish
ReplyDeletei really hope so
ReplyDeleteyeah I'm a little confused how they are going to handle it. Roy is pretty much "Speedy" already. I don't get the point of Oliver having another sidekick.
ReplyDeleteI think it actually didn't try to "fix" them.
ReplyDeleteThat doesn't mean she thought there was light in her.
ReplyDeleteis that bad?
ReplyDeleteI really really liked this episode. Especially compared to the last one. The pacing was great. I will start with
ReplyDeleteNegatives
Not much
- Kill Diggle 2k15. If Oliver don't see Diggle as a soldier even when Roy is unavailable then what is the need for him. I love Diggle. But he is dead weight now. Just kill the character off and let's move on
- Felicity saying Sara had no light.
Positives
There was a lot
- Oliver coming clean to Thea and her reaction. Oh my babies. Oliver's face when Thea hugged him. I just want to wrap them both in a blanket and give them warm soup. Wonder how she will react when she knows about Sara.
- Laurel telling the truth to Quentin and his reaction. Give him a sleeping pill. Let the poor guy sleep
- Malcolm being the devious bastard he is.
They built this up very well in last few episodes
- Diggle and Oliver's scene in the bar.
- Brother sister duo in Lian Yu
- DJ DOUCHEBAG is dead. PARTY!!!!!!
Over all a solid episode which puts together pieces for what is to come. Way way better than last two episodes.
Hey way to prove my point to myself.
ReplyDeleteExactly. How are they going to handle all these people together. Either make some of them recurring or write one or two characters off. I would rather see Diggle written off than being reduced to a token in the arrow cave.
ReplyDeleteWell Thea slept with him. So not completely useless. Some one got something out of him.
ReplyDeleteHonestly I would prefer him dead than being reduced to what he is now.
ReplyDeleteI kinda agree that Diggle should be killed off. I mean even when Roy was with Thea Oliver STILL asked Laurel to come instead of Diggle? But they never will kill him because he's the token minority in the main cast. (I'm saying this as a black person)
ReplyDeleteIf you call Thea a killer when she was drugged and has no recollection about it you have to call Laurel a killer too. She killed Officer Daly last season remember. Emptied a whole clip into him thinking he is brother blood.
ReplyDeleteDiggle is returning to the field according to MArc
ReplyDeleteMmm he's saying that Roy/Oliver and Thea would be a good team so no it's not bad.
ReplyDeleteOuch! Can't believe you said that. Smh. You made me very sad.
ReplyDeleteSometimes it's not even about how well written or not the characters are - having that many people on screen just becomes problematic because you can't properly do justice to the story or development of one, without having to put the rest of the characters in the background for stretches of time. And eventually the dynamic between them all suffers.
ReplyDeleteI hope this isn't too off-topic, but I look at a show like Agents of SHIELD (which I also love), where this season started off with so many new characters added to what was already a sizeable team, that's without counting the main characters on Hydra's side.
RIP dude... Are you going to haunt us now forever? Do I need to call reinforcements? Is it ghost busters or exorcist? :)
ReplyDeleteI will miss you *wails like a baby* or not.
ReplyDeleteLOL let's call both.
ReplyDeleteI didn't bring minority representation deliberately.
ReplyDeleteNo it was the episode 04 this season The Magician where Nyssa kidnapped Thea and Oliver and Malcolm fought her to save Thea.
ReplyDeleteI am from India. We have a lot of fake Sadhu's here who does these kind of things very often. Let me call one of them.
ReplyDeleteI am really sad and hurt seeing Oliver not using him in the field even when Roy is unavailable. He is dead weight now. Rather than seeing him like this I would prefer him getting a hero's death or going away with Lyla to head a division of Argus. Or better create a SS spin off and send him away as a lead.
ReplyDeletenoooooooooooooo O_O How dare you let that into this world. Honestly, the fact that Diggle and Felicity are still there leaves me hope that the show can become better
ReplyDeleteHe said they are struggling with writing Diggle in the field while shooting ep.18. Which means until Ep.17 SS episode he is going to be useless. Why have a character loiter around to see one episode with him getting importance. Why not write him off or make him a recurring character so that the episodes he come in will have some depth and weight.
ReplyDeleteLook at my response below. It hurts my heart to say this. But the show does not have a place for John Diggle any more.
ReplyDeleteI feel like if that's the case for John Diggle, it'll soon be the case for Felicity Smoak. But I gotta say, if Diggle leaves the show I think I may be out too. I'd much rather have Laurel and Roy leave
ReplyDeletePlease do. DLL. You can't miss it..he'll take you to the um....room. ; )
ReplyDeleteWell you knew this would happen when....well you knew.
ReplyDeleteWhen I said kill him I actually meant about writing him off one way or other. Something has to be done. I feel insulted as an audience every time Diggle is left behind in the Arrow cave. And I am tired of complaining about it.
ReplyDeleteLoL Shannon :D You are a riot.
ReplyDeleteThe thing is, it wasn't Sara who said that.
ReplyDeleteThey all were witnesses of Sara's heroics and the light she had(how she protected Sin and woman who where attacked by the hand of mans, for example).
ReplyDeleteIf they do the favor of writing Diggle and Felicity off then I can write off Arrow from my must watch list. Laurel will never be written off. So no need asking for that. I vote for Roy to be send away to TNT's titans show.
Hahahaha oh and DLL, means..Douche lovin' life...obviously. ; )
ReplyDeleteHeavy sigh...aren't we all. There's things I would love not to complain about. But it's hard not to when it's in your face all the time. Maybe the rest of the season, something good will come out of it, and not just Diggle's Wedding! = p
ReplyDeleteObviously !! What else would I think? :D
ReplyDeleteHahahaha. Love it. = p. Alrighty, i'mI'm gonna take a bit of a break. Should be back in about 20 min or so.
ReplyDeleteYeah, it's sad that we have gotten to the point where it's better to get it over with and just kill off Diggle than keep on seeing him on the sidelines not doing anything and going out into the field :(
ReplyDeleteI was hurt but I didn't actually mind that much about the Sara thing. Sara was troubled but it hurt that it came from Felicity. But otherwise Laurel needed someone to champion her.
ReplyDeleteThat being said how can we shrug off the Diggle issue.
ReplyDeleteFinally, a really good episode of Arrow. The pacing, the character development, the Laurel were just perfect. Except, i wish the writers came up with other ways to flesh out characters instead of using Vertigo.
ReplyDeleteI rated this episode "good" which was probably being too generous.
ReplyDeleteOliver was the usual Oliver, but I still don't get his collaborating or even trusting Malcolm Merlyn.
ReplyDeleteThe truth(s) finally came out!
ReplyDeleteOliver telling Thea went just about as I expected it to go.
Finally
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed it!
ReplyDeleteonly two issues:
Diggle still not enough to do, MG get your act together or take some lessons from Whedon or Singer, they know how to write for an ensamble.
And I really had to laugh at another pep talk:
ReplyDeleteFelicity Heroe Therapy no .... I lost count ;-)
oh ok awesome
ReplyDeleteI was answering your question about Roy but posted it in the wrong comment.
ReplyDeleteNo reason I just thought of it lol
ReplyDeleteAwesome episode, Thea and Oliver on Purgatory is going to be extremely interesting.
ReplyDeleteEnough with deaths this show.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to Thea learning about Sara... that it was her hands that killed Sara even if she was mind controlled by Malcolm. Given the big "we must trust each other" theme that could blow up on them later.
ReplyDelete"Why did I have to die? If you wanted to be me you could've. I didn't have to die."
ReplyDeleteTruer words have never been spoken!
I voted Great.
ReplyDeleteIt was the strongest episode since the cross-over event episode IMO.
The reasons are-
1.Thea finally got to know oliver's real identity and also everyone else also came clean completely.
Can't wait for the next one!
ReplyDeletei generally think it's a mistake for writers to try to oversell the story of a supporting character way in advance.
When Thea finally (hopefully) joins the group, I think it will happen in a more natural manner and I look forward to this!.
wow. = / Someone was tired. lol
