I just hope Rosamund Pike wins one for her incredible role in "Gone Girl".
ReplyDeleteI didn't watch barely any of those movies. But hope Emma gets the one for supporting role.
ReplyDelete1.Best Movie-Boyhood.
ReplyDelete2.Best Director-Alejandro González Iñárritu.
3.Best Actor- Eddie Redmayne/Michael Keaton.
4.Best Actress- Rosamund Pike.
5.Best Supporting Actor- J. K. Simmons.
5.Best Supporting Actress-Patricia Arquett.
I guess I could ask this here. Since I live in germany and cannot see American commercials, can someone tell me right after the oscars what was promoted, so which shows? Thx
ReplyDeleteWho will win:
ReplyDeleteBest Picture - Birdman
Best Director - Richard Linklater (Boyhood)
Best Actress - Julianne Moore (Sill Alice)
Best Actor - Michael Keaton (Birdman)
Best Supporting Actress - Patricia Arquette (Boyhood)
Best Supporting Actor - J.K Simmons (Whiplash)
Who I want to win:
Best Picture - American Sniper
Best Director - Alejandro González Iñárritu.(Birdman)
Best Actress - Rosamund Pike (Gone Girl)
Best Actor: Benedict Cumberbatch (The Imitation Game)
Best Supporting Actress: Emma Stone (Birdman)
Best Supporting Actor: J. K. Simmons (Whiplash)
Best Picture: This is a really close race I think Birdman will win and I have no problem with that, Birdman, Boyhood and Grand Budapest would be my choices.
ReplyDeleteBest Director: Richard Linklater, it will be like last year when the Director and Picture were two different films. Linklater is a worthy winner not just for his commitment to Boyhood but for the many other films he has directed like the Before trilogly
Best Actor: Another close one, I'm really rooting for Keaton and I'm hoping he will win it. Redmayne and Cumberbatch performances were very much by the book, typical Oscar bait.
Best Actress: A clear lock, has to be Julianne Moore.
Best Supporting Actor: My personal pick would be Ruffalo but J.K. Simmons has been all over this award and will definitely win. Its a great performance though so I have no problem with it.
Best Supporting Actress: Patricia Arquette seems likely and I approve.
Sorry for the other actresses, but if the Academy wants to recognize actual talent, the Best Actress Award HAS to go to Rosamund Pike. She was really impressive in Gone Girl.
ReplyDeleteBest Picture - Boyhood
ReplyDeleteBest Director- Wes Anderson
Best Actor - Michael Keaton
Best Actress - Marion Cotillard
Best S Actor- Ethan Hawke
Best S Actress- Laura Dern
I hope I'm wrong because none of those would be choice. My winners would be:
American Sniper, Bennett Miller, Bradley Cooper, Reese Witherspoon, Robert Duvall and Meryl Streep.
best picture-boyhood
ReplyDeletebest actor-benedict cumberbatch
best actress-(i havent seen any of that movie.so no opinion)
if boyhood wins best pic ,i will be satisfied.
Best Movie: Birdman
ReplyDeleteBest Director: Alejandro Inarritu
Best Actor: Eddie Redmayne
Best Actress: Julianne Moore
Best Supporting Actor: JK Simmons (VERN ç____ç)
Best Supporting Actress: Patricia Arquette
My heart belongs to Whiplash,Wes Anderson and Birdman.
I haven't watched any of these movies yet, but I voted for Boyhood for most of them, because it's been cleaning up in awards. Has anyone here watched it?
ReplyDeleteI watched The Theory of Everything and The Imitation Game. Not my usually genre but both films are fantastic biography about people that changed this world. I hope they win most of the awards.
ReplyDeleteI watched it and didn't like it. The only interesting thing about this movie is its 10 years production process.
ReplyDeleteThanks. I keep meaning to watch it because the media keeps raving about it, but the synopsis sounds so boring, that I haven't been able to find the motivation!
ReplyDeleteI watched it and loved it but its very much a character piece, 12 years following a boy and his family, beautifully filmed and acted but not to everyone's tastes.
ReplyDeleteBest Picture: Birdman
ReplyDeleteBest Director: Richard Linklater – Boyhood
Best Actor: Eddie Redmayne – The Theory of Everything
Best Actress: Julianne Moore – Still Alice
Best Supporting Actor: J. K. Simmons – Whiplash
Best Supporting Actress: Patricia Arquette – Boyhood
It's a shame because Grand Budapest Hotel is my favourite:( hopefully it could win Best Original Screenplay.
1. Best Movie: Birdman (truly the best movie I've seen in a while, Boyhood was great but a little too melodramatic and cliché heavy)
ReplyDelete2. Best Direction: Alejandro González Iñárritu (Birdmans direction and camera handling was fantastic, the feeling of all being one shot only really sucked you into the storyline)
3 Best Actor: Michael Keaton (Redmayne unfortunately had several flaws in his performance unlike Keaton who completely delivered with every scene)
4. Rosamund Pike (without a question, she was outstanding in Gone Girl!)
5. Best Supporting Actor: J.K Simmons (Whiplash was an okay movie that suffered from a subpar story and a terrible lead actor but J.K Simmons saved it and made it great. I would love to give the award to Hawke but unlike Simmons he didn't save the movie all by himself)
6. Best Supporting Actress: Patricia Arquette (she was good but most of the other nominees were purely meh in their movies so she really has no true competition IMO)
emmy >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> oscar
ReplyDeletePredictable to say the least but I know Rosamund Pike won't win but it would be great if she did. She was great in Gone Girl, everything else is predicable Boyhood and Birdman could sweep.
ReplyDeleteBTW, I've seen none of these movies besides Gone Girl I'm only predicting what I've seen so far with award shows this year.
I'm not 100% sure but we may be doing a live blog of The Oscars, so I'd suggest asking there if it goes ahead. :)
ReplyDeleteI Would but then i see who wins :/ also i live in Germany and by the time the oscars Start it is midnight here and i have to work tomorrow :/ therefore maybe in the Open discussion thread?
ReplyDeleteSomeone white.
ReplyDeleteI've always thought that it's easier to focus on every not only Oscars movie watching it at home.
ReplyDeleteI would really like that too but seems unlikely since all the best actress awards have been claimed by Julianne Moore
ReplyDeleteI usually skip movies everyone is praising, because I think that when everyone likes sth, there must be sth wrong with it.
ReplyDeleteMy wish list:
ReplyDeleteReese Witherspoon - Best actress, Wild
The Theory of Everything - Best picture
Eddie Redmayne - Best actor, The Theory of Everything
Who WILL win, will probably be those who won the Golden Globes.
Best Picture - Birdman
ReplyDeleteBest Director - Alejandro González Iñárritu (Birdman)
Best Actress - Julianne Moore (Sill Alice)
Best Actor - Michael Keaton (Birdman)
Best Supporting Actress - Patricia Arquette (Boyhood)
Best Supporting Actor - JK Simmons (Whiplash)
I'm not sure there have been three stronger locks than Julianne Moore, Patricia Arquette and JK Simmons to win in their respective categories.
Last month I think I would have picked Eddie Redmayne (Theory of Everything) for Best Actor and Richard Linkletter (Boyhood) for Best Director, but momentum has been moving in Birdman's direction with it cleaning up at the guild award shows.. I would not be surprised if either won though.
Many love for Boyhood & Birdman.
ReplyDeleteEveryone who says Rosamund Pike should win Best Actress: have y'all even seen Still Alice? Julianne Moore is phenomenal in that movie. And she's won everything this awards season, so Pike winning is quite unlikely.
ReplyDeleteI don't get why Emma Stone is nominated :O but I doubt she'll Win.
ReplyDeleteShowbuzzdaily:In case you are staring at an Oscar ballot this afternoon or this evening and have no idea what to select, especially in the “down ballot” categories such as documentaries, foreign language film, or the technical awards, never fear. Lean on the professional oddsmakers to help to separate the wheat from the chaff. Instead of simply guessing on a category that is a total mystery to you, the chart below will help you narrow down your selection to the nominees that have a reasonable shot of winning.
ReplyDeleteThe nominees with a green box to the left are Favorites: with odds near even money. The yellow nominees are real Contenders, with odds under 10:1, usually around 3:1 or 5:1. And the red nominees are the true Long Shots: odds over 10:1, usually well over, in the 50:1 range or more.
