‘The Middle’ Surprise: Co-Star Charlie McDermott To Topline CBS Pilot ‘Super Clyde’ As ‘Middle’ Cast Contracts Are Up
The Middle co-star Charlie McDermott has been cast as the lead in Greg Garcia’s CBS comedy pilot Super Clyde, from CBS TV Studios. He will play the title character, a meek, unassuming fast-food worker who finds his calling.
McDermott was in the clear to take another series regular job because the contracts of The Middle cast expire at the end of this season, and no one has been signed for next fall. I hear WBTV had broached the subject of doing another season with the actors but the vast majority had not been approached about entering negotiations, including McDermott.

Whoopi Goldberg To Star In ABC Comedy Pilot ‘Delores & Jermaine'; What About ‘The View’?
The View co-host Whoopi Goldberg has signed on as the co-lead opposite Jermaine Fowler in ABC’s multi-camera comedy pilot Delores & Jermaine.
With her on board, the pilot and the potential series will film in New York City, where Goldberg lives and works on another ABC program, daily talk show The View. Goldberg has another year on her View contract, and production on Delores & Jermaine would be scheduled around her duties on The View. Multi-camera sitcoms have less-demanding schedules than single-camera ones, with two other ABC morning talk show hosts, The View‘s Sherri Shepherd and Live!’s Kelly Ripa previously able to juggle filming the talkers and multi-camera sitcoms they toplined.
Written by comedian Fowler based on his life, Delores & Jermaine, an Odd Couple for the new generation, stars Fowler as a millennial with big ideas, but very little drive, who moves in with his estranged grandmother (Goldberg), a strict, football-loving, former D.C. cop who needs his youthful enthusiasm in her life as much as he needs her old-school parenting. Chun wrote the script with Fowler. In addition to starring, Goldberg will executive produce along with her partner Tom Leonardis, Danny Chun, who supervised the script, and 3 Arts’ Michael Rotenberg; Fowler co-executive produces. ABC Studios is the studio.

Glad Marcia found a new show for her. Code Black, just gained some points in my book.
ReplyDeleteWith Jamie cast in Blindspot, I'll check it out for sure. First NBC show I'll checking out in a long long time.
LOVE Jaimie Alexander!
ReplyDeletefyi: paradox it seems you have made a mistake and there is some strange code at the top of the article.
So here for Jaimie and Marcia being cast in things.
ReplyDeleteDamn. I was hoping that Rupert Grint would try out for Super Clyde again.
ReplyDeleteseeing Josh Peck and Jaimie Alexander's pilots, awesome having them, back on TV!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI loved Whoopi's last sitcom.
ReplyDeleteSuper Clyde is a project I have been interested in since the last time it was doing the rounds, but the cast was a huge part of that too. Now I know it was a bit of a stretch to hope the same people would still be attached, but is was such an amazing crew! :(
ReplyDeleteOh well... still crossing my fingers it goes through... I love Greg Garcia's stuff.
The Curse Of the Fuentes Women sounds like it might be an over the top mess. But there are things about it that pique my interest too... I'm totally on the fence about that one. Even the casting is leaving me "meh".
The John Stamos vehicle seems like it could be fun, and with Josh Peck joining it's shaping up to have a decent cast all around. I'll sure keep an eye out.
By rule I love medical shows, but lately they leave me jaded. It's been bleak with ER and House off the air and Grey's having deteriorated below mediocrity in the past few years. Marcia Grey Harden being a part of one might be just the cure for that.
Ground Floor proved to me that Skylar Astin can totally carry a sitcom, and this sounds like a possibly enjoyable work comedy. We'll see I guess.
Blindspot is I think the ONLY pilot premise that remotely registered on my radar. And now with Jaime Alexandra attached, I'm certainly invested more than before. Hope it's good!
Used to love Whoopi when I was younger. Don't know if she has the same appeal to me nowdays. Sounds like a pretty conventional sitcom. But lately ABC hasn't been doing horribly with delivering those, so I'm at the very least curious.
I've been waiting for John Leguizamo to get a project going for years... I don't know if this will be it... I do know that from that synopsis, I'm not too excited about it...
