BBC AMERICA’s Season Three Premiere of Award-Winning Series Orphan Black to Air Simultaneously on BBC AMERICA, AMC, IFC, SundanceTV and WE tv

New York, NY, February 20, 2015 – AMC Networks will air the highly-anticipated season three premiere of BBC AMERICA’s hit series Orphan Black on Saturday, April 18 at 10 PM ET across all of its U.S. networks – AMC, BBC AMERICA, IFC, SundanceTV and WE tv – the first time the AMC Networks channel group has used its combined portfolio of networks to air a premiere of its programming. BBC AMERICA is operated as a joint venture between AMC Networks and BBC Worldwide.
“Orphan Black is a truly outstanding original series that has attracted consistent and widespread critical acclaim as well as a considerable, growing following from viewers,” said Ed Carroll, Chief Operating Officer of AMC Networks. “AMC Networks is a channel group known for high-quality storytelling and creating a premiere television event for Orphan Black is a perfect opportunity to use our programming assets to help extend the reach of this quality series.”
Starring SAG and Golden Globe® nominee Tatiana Maslany in multiple roles, Orphan Black’s second season brought new enemies to light, culminating in a shocking finale which revealed a new line of male clones, played by Ari Millen. Season three plunges the clone sisterhood into unexpected territory with the realization that they’re not alone.
Orphan Black is produced by Temple Street Productions in association with BBC AMERICA and Bell Media’s SPACE. The original drama co-created by Graeme Manson and John Fawcett, with Manson also serving as writer and Fawcett as director, is executive produced by Ivan Schneeberg and David Fortier of Temple Street Productions. The international hit series is distributed by BBC Worldwide and can be seen in more than 170 countries. Orphan Black is shooting through March 2015.

ReplyDeleteI know but I'm hoping their exclusive window is up for expiration soon and that Netflix will swoop in and pick up the exclusive rights. Amazon did it to Netflix by taking Teen Wolf.

ReplyDeleteThis makes more sense now. I wasn't thinking that BBCA isn't on most cable plans, so it just seemed redundant.
ReplyDeleteYeah. I have BlueRidge Communications. BBCA is apart of the 'extra cable' package here -- pretty much entirely obscure cable channels dedicated entirely to reruns of shows from the 70s and 80s; b-movies; music-oriented channels, et al.
ReplyDeleteBBCA is one of the few channels on the package that I watch. Unfortunately, my household may be dropping the package in the coming months.
Sundance is apart of the Showtime package. AMC, IFC, and WE are in the basic cable package.
What was redundant, was when History, A&E, and Lifetime did that Bonnie & Clyde miniseries simultaneously last year. Those are all apart of the basic cable package for -- I believe -- all cable providers, and on most, are all immediately following each other in numeric order. That whole thing was silly. At least with the AMC Networks partnership, the channels are more divided and typically cater to different audiences. A&E/History/Lifetime all pretty much have the same audience.
I think it's nice to see Orphan Black spread out like this. Like I initially said, this should be a good way of gaining Orphan Black some more exposure.
