Nashville - I'm Not that Good at Goodbye - Advance Preview

Feb 2, 2015

“Nashville” returns this Wednesday on ABC, and after all the bombshells dropped in the mid-season finale, the show has a lot to address in “I’m Not that Good at Goodbye.” After seeing an advanced screener of the episode, we are here to tell you what you have to look forward to – and it’s a lot! So let’s get to it.

The episode begins where the winter finale left off. Rayna must deal with the fallout from canceling her wedding. Luke is going haywire. He is livid, and he has no intentions of disappearing quietly. The episode is filled with conversations of Rayna explaining her actions. She meets again with Luke. She has to tell her daughters. And she has to figure out what she is going to tell Deacon, who obviously is thrilled at the news. When the two former lovers do talk, get ready for Rayna to lay out her honest feelings. This scene was my favorite of the episode.

Deacon, meanwhile, is dealing with the possibility that he may have cancer. Scarlett offers him more than just a shoulder to lean on while he undergoes tests. When he gets the results, he has to decide who he is going to tell.

Juliette and Avery are in the midst of their honeymoon at home after their impromptu wedding. But it doesn’t take long before their domestic bliss is interrupted. Combining their lives and homes presents some challenges.

As for Gunnar, learning he wasn’t Micah’s father does not mean he’s giving up on the boy. In fact, he continues to fight the grandparents for custody. But they also press him to tell Micah the truth, which could change everything. (Incidentally, Zoey doesn’t make an appearance in this episode.)

Thankfully, Layla survives her attempted suicide, and that forces Will and Jeff to come to terms with what led them to this point and what they really want. Layla and Will reach a crossroads and lay it all out. Both Will and Jeff’s actions may surprise you.

Finally, the character of Sadie is coming into the foreground with her own storyline. After being beaten by her ex, she is now living in fear. But she decides to take matters into her own hands by buying a gun. The big question is: Is she going to have to use it?

Other teasers:

- Musically, look for a sweet duet between Gunnar and Micah, and a new, meaningful song from Luke.

- Expect a guy brawl.

- Maddie and Luke’s son take sides in the wedding fallout, potentially threatening their burgeoning romance if they can’t work it out.

The new episode of “Nashville” airs Wednesday, February 4 at 10/9c.

  2. Jeff and Will have a lot to apologize for. They both manipulated and hurt Layla for thier own selfish reasons. I hope she is okay and we get more music from her

  3. I am so looking forward to the Deyna scene but feel bad for Deacon. He has the best news ever at the worst time in his life. This looks like a good episode I'm excited to finally have the show back.

  6. You put it really well when you say Deacon has the best news ever at the worst time in his life. Those ups and downs together are emotional for him. It's a good episode. I hope you enjoy it!

  7. I know - they've only been thinking of themselves. But this is a wake-up call to them. They may actually learn to think about Layla more now instead of just themselves. I agree - I hope we get more music from her, too!
