2oth Century Fox has made test deals with a small group of actresses for the female lead opposite Ryan Reynolds on Deadpool, based on the character he originated in X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

Here are four of the actresses: Morena Baccarin, who played the long-suffering wife of POW-turned-terrorist Brody in Showtime’s Homeland and who also starred in V; Taylor Schilling, from Orange Is The New Black and who was just see at Sundance in The Overnight; Crystal Reed from Teen Wolf and Crush; and Rebecca Rittenhouse, who made a splash in the Fox series The Red Band Society.

Add Sarah Greene (Vikings, Noble) and Jessica De Gouw (Arrow and Deadline Gallipoli) to this short list.

  1. I don't know much about Deadpool, do we have any idea who this character is?

  2. Deadpool is my fav comic character! CANNOT WAIT FOR THIS. Also i hope Crystal Reed gets lead female!

  3. Could be a few different people. Maybe Death, if they have the rights to her.

I personally get the giggles thinking about Baccarin reacting to Deadpool, for reasons I can not explain.

  4. Pretty good casting pool. Now I just wonder which character they are casting for....

  5. Could it be her: http://marvel.wikia.com/Mercedes_Wilson_(Earth-616)

  6. Deadpool's origin story is best told by himself, as an untrustworthy narrator. He's too crazy to remember for sure. Either way, I doubt it's significant enough for his pre-Cancer wife to be the female lead.

  7. Routing for Morenca Baccarin!

  8. Rebecca Rittenhouse, then Morena Baccarin, Not Crystal Reed, I liked her on Teen Wolf, but I Don't think she would fit well with DP.

  9. Woah, a lot of great actresses aiming for the role!
Will be happy with any of them, but I'm leaning towards Morena Baccari

  10. Rooting for Crystal Reed. It would be awesome to see her in this and nice to see her in a more mature role. Besides its more her age and not teenager like Teen Wolf. But who is the character suppose to be?

  11. OMG PLEASE BE MORENA BACCARIN!!! I love her so much, she was brilliant in Stargate SG-1 and V :)

  14. The only one i can think about is Death. How they would fit that in without making the movie ridiculous is beyond me. Though Deadpool was one of the few characters to repeatedly break the fourth wall, so, a certain amount of ridiculousness is to be expected.

  15. Good luck to both Morena and Crystal

  16. I don't know anything about Deadpool lore, but man, would it be cool to see either Morena Baccarin or Taylor Schilling in a badass physical role in a superhero movie. They'd both be extremely capable of the job.

Completely unfamiliar with the other actresses testing.

  17. Kinda hoping that Marvel held on to the rights for Death

  18. It's FOX so very likely a non-comic canon character that will pose as Deadpools targer turning lover

  19. I want Morena or Crystal.

  20. I think they probably do have her, considering she began in a property that was never licensed. I could see them not using her in Infinity War, though.

  21. although begs the question...how can you license a character like "Death" to begin with?
