Grimm - Death Do Us Apart - Review

Feb 1, 2015

In this week's Grimm, Death Do Us Apart, Nick and Hank investigate a homicide at an abandoned -- and supposedly haunted -- residence.

At Renard's house, Juliette explains to him what happened and why she's a Hexenbeist now. Everything started the night Monroe got kidnapped, and she begs Renard to help her get rid of this by asking her mother.
Meanwhile, a group of guys get into a haunted house, searching for a ghost, but things get worse when one of them is attacked and killed by something mysterious - a ghost probably? It turns out, the residence was indeed infested by the ghosts of the Donovan, a couple who lived and died there in the same bed, being electrized.
Wu is really into the Grimm  team and his help is repaid when Nick asks to join he and Hank into the investigations. He's even the honor to read everything about Matanca Ronzante, the Wesen who infests the house. The only way to stop him it's for Nick to pierce his ear with a frog compound so he can't vulnerable. Too bad, in the same room with the Wesen and the woman he's kidnapped there are the other two ghost seekers who record everything - ouch. Do they need to worry? As Sean Renards claims "Nobody believes in ghosts." Is the Grimm world in dangerous?

Poor Juliette. She's really afraid of her 'new condition.' Nightmares continue as she dreams of Nick axes her. She needs first to understand how to come back being normal before talking to her boyfriend. How could he react by watching her go Woge? Renard has a solution to Juliette's problem and it's called Henrietta, a family friend of Sean.
First step: she reads Nick's books into the trailer, then she calls Henriette and fix an appointment. When the guys surprise Juliette there, she quickly leaves but not without Nick's suspicion about a certain book she was reading - Hexenbeist. Hank can't blame her, looking back at what Adalind did to all of them - Wu included, who took one of her cookies and ate his carpet.

In the final two scenes, Juliette goes to Henrietta's house, who claims they have a lot to talk about; and then as Sean Renard remembers his shooting at the end of season 3, the wounds he received start to bleed again. I hope Juliette's storyline won't be dragged too much.

Honorable mention: Monroe and Rosalee are indeed enjoying their honeymoon. Finally!
Also, where are Adalind and Viktor? Are we expecting to see them back soon?

  1. Thanks, Diana. I really liked this episode, for the way it pushed forward the story line. I wonder if Viktor will accompany Adalind to Portland. I also wonder if Renard's mother, Elizabeth, will show up to help Sean with his wound situation and will run into Viktor and Adalind, and they will all be asking about the baby.

  2. Thanks for the review ,Diana. I loved it when they told Wu that oh yes he HAD been an Adalind victim too. And the whole frog paste and ear piercing were funny too. This show strikes such a perfect balance with its fantasy, horror, teamhood loyalty, and humor.

  3. I think I heard Viktor say "we" about its being time to go to Portland so I expect he is accompanying Adalind. What is happening with Renard's wounds is a real puzzlement - the first thing that came to mind was that the two headed snake trick of Mama Renard's involved bonding the two of them-- remember, she passed out-- and maybe she is in some sort of trouble herself. Don't know ....

  4. Thanks :) it'd be amazing to see a Kelly vs Elizabeth fight! Am I the only one who miss Viktor and Adalind?

  6. Thanks for reading :) Wu is part of the team, I'm loving it! Everyone had something in common with Adaling, even tho in a different way - I almost removed Wu eating his carpet!

  7. Me too. I loved the way they turned him from an adversary to an ally.

  8. so you fully and completely trust him? even though he's half Royal?

  9. do we have to worry about Juliette going to renard and calling him by his first name instead of Nick her BOYFRIEND and love of her life?

  10. Oh,no. I think he could just as easily go from adversary to ally back to adversary and then back to ally again. He has his own agenda for certain, but he can be a big help when he chooses. He did give Nick his key, a very valuable item, back. Ha - unless, of course, he substituted it ! And he did tell Mama Renard that Nick had helped him and he wanted to repay him by helping Nick get his powers back. But if his own goals were on the line--- who knows.

  11. so i'm not crazy by being wary of him?

  12. As long as his objectives are not at cross purposes with those of the Grimm folk, he is a good police Captain and friend, but when his own plans conflict with theirs, look out.

  13. Yes, I was surprised that people reacted so strongly to her going to Renard - I thought it made sense. She is just still a bit afraid to show Nick as she does not have a handle on it yet herself--- besides, we know from past experience our show runners ( though we love them dearly) like to draw things out too long ! Carpet snacks all round for everyone.

  14. I believe I remember Nick calling him Sean a time or two when they were not in police business mode.

  15. I think she went to Renard because his mother did the spell and she wanted him to find her so that she could undo it. It makes sense to me. Plus Rosalee is on vacation. I can't blame her for not wanting her boyfriend to see her like that.

  16. That was awkward. I think Juliette came to Renard's because of his past experience with a Hexenbeist. Juliette is scared to show up her Woge face to Nick like "Hey look,, darling, I'm a Hexenbeist now!"
