  2. Interesting that Empire's finale is 2 hours , Although apparently American Idol is two hours the following night to make up for this.

  3. Can someone anyone explain why in hell Fox is double pumping the highest rated show on network TV outside sweeps instead of running it for one more week? Or if they wanted/needed to do it, why wasn't it done during February sweeps?

    Just crazy....

  4. They don't wanna drag it out I guess and let the fans get the 2 full hours they deserve. I think the next week after that AI Will be 2 hours as well cause of the live show.

  6. Maybe they want to test if the 8pm slot will work for Empire

  8. They couldn't possibly air a two hour finale in February Sweeps since there were still many episodes to air, obviously. In addition, this is nothing new. Back when Grey's Anatomy was the highest rated drama on television it used to do double premieres or double finales. A double pump is not a bad thing. See also How to Get Away with Murder, which is the second highest rated freshman drama of the year and has a double finale today. These two hour things increase the "event" feel of the episodes and often lead to higher ratings especially since shows tend to grow across telecasts, meaning that chances are the 4th half hour of Empire will be substantially higher rated than the first one. Also, as other people have pointed out, it allows FOX to test how Empire would fare on the 8pm slot where presumably they would want to move it next fall to lead into a new show.

  9. I miss the show, I am so pumped for the third season! I hope for some sort of ratings miracle as unlikely as it may be!
