Empire - Out, Damned Spot - Review: Courtney Love guest star

This Wednesday installment of Fox’s hit drama didn’t give up surprising us. The ratings are growing week after week and this episode gained a huge 4.8.

Let’s start with Courtney Love. The famous singer was the guest start of Out,Damned Spot. I appreciated her role, but I truly hated the song she was given. I could enjoy her more with a proper piece of music that could underline her undeniable qualities, Take me to the River was not that. The fight for fame of this decadent artist is perfectly portrayed by legendary rock Star Courtney Love , but the song is not enough.

Cookie is still the heart and the soul of the show. She is just the perfect character. You love her when she threw the rose Lucious gave her with a babydoll under her fur coat, or when she wants to help Jamal. I hope that her newly born relationship with rockstar will get more screentime.
I am still not completely sold on Hakeem’s talent, he seems to me too young and immature to shine and I didn’t like his new hatred-filled song.

The final plot twist with the arrival of Raven Symone as the baby mama of Jamal’s daughter was brilliant. I didn’t see that coming! What if Jamal is really a father? How will this change all the dynamics of his storyline? Will his relationship with Micheal last? The writers seem to underline that they will have to face a lot of problems because of Jamal’s new fame. I hope they will stay together.

We can all expect to hear these two words at the beginning of the next episode Our Dancing Days which will air this Wednesday at 9/8c on Fox: Paternity test.

And you? What do you think of this episode?

  1. I loved this this episode!

The writing on this show is so solid, and I really can't wait to see what happens tonight after Rayven Simon's big reveal at the end of the last episode.

  2. When I started this show, I thought I would hate Cookie, but I LOVE her.

  3. TPH just rocks as Cookie! Shame on WB/POI for firing her last year. Loved that twist with Raven Simone - wow! The writers aren't invested in Michael, probably because the actor is the second weakest link (behind Hakeem - please recast!), so he can go. Seriously, Porsha is far more engaging in the 1 minute she gets per episode.

  4. Yes, that plot twist was so juicy

  5. Not a Shame, she was so lucky. Now Taraji is on the highest rated tv series of the last 6-7 years!

  6. When cookie was at the restaurant and thought she came their to have sex was hilarious. "And this is an ass" was too funny. I agree that Hakeem is too young and immature. But that ending with finding out Jamal has a kid was very shocking. The mother is a complete gold digger
