Empire - Our Dancing Days - Review: Empire is on Fire!

Empire is on fire. Our Dancing Days scored a stellar 5.2 adults 18-49 rating. It is growing and growing like a ratings’ war machine for Fox . The question seems legit: what is so good about this decade’s Drama about Music Industry? This week was so full of events and plot twists! It is such a roller coaster with Cookie at the centre of the best outcomes of all these storylines.

Lucious finally decided to spill his secrets to his family! While Andre reacted with violence and vehemence, Cookie was deeply touched by it. Nevertheless all the troubles they faced apart, they are still able to understand each other needs. These duplicity of the feelings of Terrence Howard’s character is interesting. He seems to be in love in Anika, in an honest way; but at the same time with Cookie is pure chemistry. As a consequence of this, the episode ends on a high note for them: they kiss and sleep together and as a perfect “Soap” drama, the future wife sees them. Trouble in Paradise, anyone? I am obviously #teamCookie, what else?

I really appreciated how they portrayed the reconciliation of Jamal and Hakeem. Their bond is strong enough to avoid any possible fracture caused by the evil schemes of their older brother. Their performance was just powerful! I love them together.

The pros of Our Dancing Days involved also Courtney Love’s character Elle. She finally performed a powerful song, but sadly she was drugged by Jamal and Hakeem’s future stepmother. Will Cookie save her butt once again? How long will this character last on the show? I am still sold on this storyline, she is interesting enough to grab my attention. Andre seems finally to be portrayed as human. His relationship with Rhonda is clearly the more honest and true of all the show, and he is now something more than the show’s villain. I hope they will explore better his bipolar disorder, and the consequences it has on his life.

As I already said, Empire is a perfect product of entertainment. Original enough, interesting enough! You always don’t see that specific plot twist coming. Taraji P. Henson and Terrence Howard continue to be at their best. Keep going Empire!
I am hooked on it and the season is almost over! Just 4 nights left, as next week’s preview says.

What do you think of Our Dancing Days?
