The most successful broadcast’s series of the last decade continues. Dangerous Bonds is another entertaining episode of Empire. The family saga about the battle for control of Empire Entertainment becomes even more complicated this week.
The episode is once again focused on Cookie. Through various flashbacks, we are shown of what caused Cookie’s imprisonment. The feds obliges her to testify in front of a jury against Frank Gathers who was a famous and dangerous drug dealer she had contact with. She is skeptical because she is worried that he will avenge this betrayal.
Jamal and Hakeem carry on their fight for power, but Andre is easily able to create more problems for both the brothers. Apparently in the relationship between Hakeem and Thasa , he was not the only one cheating … she has betrayed him too, with India. That was a totally unexpected, but juicy plot twist. Andre’s wife publishes their photos on the Internet and it creates a rift between the two, but in order not to waste the uprising success obtained after the Teen Choice Awards, they have to pretend that this little secret doesn’t exist.
Jamal’s new living condition is quite miserable. He has to go on with his own money, but fortunately he has a powerful inspiration during his hangout nearby his new house. His new song is just what he needed: he has to record his track on a cheap and abandoned recording studio. An evilish Andre sends indirectly some Hakeem’s friends to rob him. Just in time to create another family fight.
At the end of the episode, Lucious talks to Cookie and reminds her of her anniversary and of the rose she gave her days before. Cookie is shocked: she sent her brother-in-law to kill one of the Frank’s guys! I also liked how they are giving a resemblance of humanity and emotionality to Hanika. I am also in love with Jamal! He has to win this war.
Empire is the perfect hit-series of this decade: full of plot twists and unexpected developments, it is able to entertain as well as possible the viewer with the help Timbaland's music which is the perfect soundtrack. Taraji P. Henson is nailing this role: Cookie is authentic, cool and powerful, but at the same time not afraid to show her emotions. You can only love her and her lines as “I’M A DEAD BITCH WALKING”.
All in all, Empire has become an hour of television which you can not miss!
