Black Sails - XIV - Advance Preview
Feb 28, 2015
Black Sails Reviews RFBlack Sails continues this upcoming Saturday with the sixth episode of the second season. The episode, unlike others, is a little light on action and focuses more on the characters and the development of some. The episode does have its fair share of action, and high octane scenes, but "XIV" is mostly a filler episode, which sets us up nicely for the final four episodes. This episode promises great things ahead for the show.
After someone prevents Vane and Flint from killing each other, Flint decides to make Vane an offer. His life and the fort for Abigail Ashe. Flint believes she holds the key to Nassau's future due to her father, since he is a very powerful man. Flint gathers a few notable faces around a table including Vane and Eleanor and proposes an idea, and then asks for their support, and help in the matter at hand. This proposal could guarantee the future of Nassau, but might put other ventures in jeopardy.
Richard Guthrie attempts to council Flint on the matter and offers him some advice on how to handle Lord Ashe, and how he should go about his proposed idea. Richard informs Flint of his past experiences with negotiating with England, and why Flint's plan simply won’t work. Whether Flint decides to take on board what Richard has said is entirely up to him.
The proposal though forces one of our characters to break an agreement, and another to take matters in to their own hands when one person objects to Flint's proposed plan for the sake of their own greed.
Elsewhere, Billy returns, and this time he has a story to tell, but who will listen? A new alliance is also forged in Nassau when someone offers another a deal, which leaves that person with a choice to make. The consequences of the deal though could mean the downfall of another.
A lot more happens, but that's all I'm going to give you as I don't watch to spoil anything, but below are a few dialogue teasers for you all!
"Will you fulfil your end of this bargain?"
"Side with me and we will show England that this place has never been stronger"
"When that man starts talking, you will believe anything"
"My Priority has always been, and will always be the welfare of my men"
"I'm talking about making money the way London makes it. Collecting it, not hunting it"
As always, thank you for reading! You can catch "XIV" this Saturday 9pm on Starz.
*Incase anyone is wondering in my last preview I accidentally mentioned a huge spoiler, so had to take it down.
ReplyDeleteWait! Correct me if I am wrong. Advance preview for 2x06 was posted with a huge spoiler? And I missed it? And you took it down and uploaded it again? If so, ARGHHHHHHHHHH!!
ReplyDelete;) :)
Haha. It was the 2.05 preview. According to Starz the part about "Who Flint truly loves" was a big spoiler, which I guess it was.
ReplyDeleteThey've now sent me a list of things I can't mention for every episode, which was kind of them.
Damn! The pitfalls of getting early screeners. I don't envy you now. :)
ReplyDeleteSome of my guesses:
ReplyDeleteEleanor prevents Vane and Flint from killing each other.
Flint's proposal puts other ventures in jeopardy - the other pirate captains continued hunting?
One character breaks an agreement - Flint's agreement with Captain Hornigold to get him back the fort is broken.
Vane still acts like an ass goaded by his greed so Eleanor takes matters into her own hands regarding Abigail Ashe.
I actually don't enjoy watching things early, as that means I've got to keep everything to myself which is really hard to do :)
ReplyDeleteAgain, like every week some really good guesses! A few right/a few wrong.
ReplyDeleteFlint's proposal puts other ventures in jeopardy - The person who objects is Silver, who's easily the most self-serving greedy one there is, because it interfers with getting the Urca's gold and him becoming stinkin' rich. Silver has no interest in Nassau or the politics.
ReplyDeleteThink @DebraFan got the other two right, Elanor breaks up Vane and Flint and the agreement broken is with Captain Hornigold.
Debra may have got more than two right or less, but obviously I can't say how many hence "some right/some wrong"
ReplyDeleteSilver doesn't play too big of a part this episode, but you do find out some interesting things about him, when he speaks with Max.
Slightly unrelated question, but how many episodes this season? Eight? Or ten?
ReplyDelete10 Episodes, and I believe Season 3 is getting 10 as well.
ReplyDeleteGreat!!! Thanks. :)
