Hmm. Season 3 started filming August 28 and I believe finishes next week. So in theory, starting in June means they could finish in December. With it a being a summer show it seems really early to start filming it, I wonder if another cast member has plans (eg a movie role) causing them to start a bit earlier.
ReplyDeleteAWESOME!!!!
ReplyDeleteKriatin Kreuk as Lana Lang in Superman v Batman? LOL
ReplyDeleteIf you mean for S3 it premieres 21st May, thursday 8pm.
ReplyDeleteWTH?
ReplyDeletes3 starts around may
and they r starting to film s4 in june?
Thanks, I missed that update.
ReplyDeleteUr welcome.
ReplyDeletegreat...hopefully get some interview from Jay and Kristin miss them together !!!!!
ReplyDeleteme too, so much
ReplyDeleteshoot fast, let the horrible numbers come in later. Clever strategy
ReplyDeleteS3 is probably already shot and done editting, originally BATB was going to air S3 during Fridays on midseason, so by June S3 will be more than completed
ReplyDeleteConsidering normal shows start filming in July I don't know why the CW wants this so early. There's definitely some motive, but I hope they're not planing a Fall premiere.
ReplyDeleteBy renewing it 3 months before Season 3 airs thé CW proved that ratings really don't matter. I guess CBS does make a decent amount of money with BATB and pushed for renewal !
ReplyDeleteA theory I saw online was that it might relate to the Netflix deal. It expires in early 2016. If they have the episodes ready before it expires then they may still get the benefits of the deal even if they don't air till later on.
ReplyDeletewhat deal?
ReplyDeleteEarly 2006, Dawn Ostroff organised a deal with Netflix. Netflix would get exclusive streaming rights for their shows for I believe 2 Million an episode.
ReplyDeleteThat's why thus far, every CW show is guaranteed to show up on Netflix at some point for at least a year.
Mark Pedowitz has mentioned in interviews that the deal effectively saved the CW.
All I can say is that they seem to be following a very Canadian filming schedule...Which is unusual because US shows that shoot here tend to maintain the US scheduling.
ReplyDeleteI don't believe that ever actually the plan, I think it was always meant for summer. Which I think is actually a better situation for the show any way. I would prefer to have The Messengers scheduled at 8pm in a weekday during summer than at 9pm on Fridays during spring.
ReplyDeleteOr Jay Ryan in Top of the lake S2?
ReplyDeleteAccording to a BATB fan from another forum I go to, the show just wrapped up filming for the season earlier this month.

Well,BatB & Reign are Candain co-productions and air in Canda a day before the US
ReplyDeleteThey're shot here, but I don't know that they are co-productions... Are they?
ReplyDeleteAnd, for the record, Reign doesn't follow a Canadian shooting schedule at all. Neither did BatB before this season... So IMO it's still noteworthy...
At the upfronts last year it was reported BATB would air on midseason along with HoD on Fridays. That was changed and BATB got pushed to summer, which as you say is the better situation for the show.
ReplyDeleteHhhhmmm.... the scheduling change might be a result of a union switch then...
ReplyDelete(which if they did switch from IATSE to NABET, it would back up my assumption that they're cutting the budget).
I know Reign still shoot exteriors in Ireland when needed so they must probably also have another studio based there as co-producer alongside Joyful Girl et al.
ReplyDeletelike re-runs? like with Friends?
ReplyDeleteWith numbers like that, that really makes a lot of shows close to profitable right off the bat. I thought Netflix/CW did a deal in 2011 that gave rights for four years after show ends or something like that. I think it was worth over $1B because it was such a huge number. So, CW has incentive to keep these series going much longer because it keeps extending the time of the deal and revenue stream..
ReplyDeletewow love the pic. Chemistry full
ReplyDeleteStuart Gillard on a question about this : "Stuart Gillard :
ReplyDeleteyes we want to shoot less in winter weather - hard on cast and crew."
