Banshee offered us another exceptional and amazing episode last night, with “You Can’t Hide From the Dead”, written by Chris Kelley and directed by Greg Yaitanes.
Banshee keeps on pleasing me this season with high quality episode. I mean, this season, everything in the show is totally great, and I really mean everything. All the stories are really well done, every characters get something interesting and challenging to do. Every episode is just 50 minutes of pure great television, no boring or pointless moments.
“You Can’t Hide From the Dead” was very well constructed, I enjoyed the first part of the episode, resolving the stories of past episodes (Hood and King, Deva and her parents, Job and Sugar ; Chayton…) and then came the best sequence of Banshee ever. The attack on the camp was epic. I’m not usually a big fan of action sequence or action movies, but this attack, with the multiples point of views was the best thing I’ve watched on TV since the begining of the year.
Last week, Deva met up with this guy, Charlie. I didn’t want to focus about it on my review because we all knew what that was all about. Deva is on a wrong path since the start of the season, she’s an angry lost teenager looking for new experiences, to prove herself she’s special. The usual teenager crap, we’ve all been there. But, we didn’t have Deva’s parents. And this week on “You Can’t Hide from the Dead” they totally kicked ass !
Oh my god, I loved that scene in the swimming pool. Ivana Miličević and Rus Blackwell were both great in that scene. I loved their fights so much, they totally kicked the boys’s ass. Carrie is so gorgeous when she fights. It got a bit scary when Charlie pointed his gun at Gordon, but I have no fear from him. That was the best family intervention ever. They probably not the best parents, but they care and love their daughter, Deva should at least acknowledge that.
And Carrie and Gordon celebrated their reunion as a family with a fuck in the kitchen. It wasn’t surprising and I was glad for them, they deserved to have some joy.
While Carrie was taking care of her family, Hood was still obsessed over Siobhan’s death and kept dreaming of her and seeing her. I had no idea her death would have so much impact on him. Hood has never been good at expressing his feelings, I knew he loved her but not at this point. It was really heart breaking in the opening scene to watch him struggling with Siobhan’s disappearance.
As Chayton was nowhere to be seen, Hood kept on training (against a freaking tree, that must hurt….) and decided it was time to attack and steal the Genoa camp ! Yay ! Ever since they brought it up in the beginning of the season, I’ve been looking forward that scene and I wasn’t disappointed at all.
The scene with the multiples camera, and the names written on the left side, was breathe taking. It was so intense, I was on edge for 20 minutes. Usually, I hate war and action movies because it’s always too dark and too fast, I don’t understand anything of what’s happening but that sequence on Banshee was absolute perfection. It was clear, thrilling and great.
Job is a real genius, pulling that off with his special techs and all. I love him so much. I loved his fight scene, while Hood was hallucinating Siobhan. It was so crazy, I feared for him and for the mission. He’s also excellent at fighting but still… Carrie was so pro at opening the safe. She is always so very classy and hot in her different tasks. Ivana Miličević’s powerful eyes also helped. Sugar was also great at his job, watching over everything and everyone.
Their plan was perfect, until Hood lost it because of Siobhan. God, I really hate Chayton more and more… Job lost time during his fight and Colonel Stowe arrived too soon. That was so exciting and so dangerous. I really hope for all of them not to get caught. It was so thrilling, to watch everything from the multiples cameras. Hood proved once again he’s a natural leader, protecting Job and Carrie first, before himself.
Hood and Stowe’s fight scene in the tunnel was amazing. Hood shot him and still he wasn’t fighting him off after. That guy is a monster. I even believed for a minute Hood would get captured and then they blew the bomb off, but they weren’t safe just yet ! Hood came from the hole into their truck but so did Stowe. I must say that fight scene inside the truck was totally crazy and so great. Stowe showed that he is a very strong enemy. Even in that small place, and they were three against him he almost got them all. And he was fighting against Hood, Job and Carrie… He will be very hard to put down.
Luckily, they managed to get him out of the truck and Sugar drove them away. God, I felt so relieved for all of them. Their attacks are getting seriously more dangerous and I don’t want to loose any member of that remarkable team. Sugar wanted to celebrate their victory, their success with whiskey at his bar ! But they weren’t in the mood. Job was still mad at Hood for leaving him alone for 5 minutes and almost getting caught and/or killed. Hood screwed it up because Chayton is still alive and he keeps seeing Siobhan. Hood needs to get his revenge for her and thanks to King, he knows where to look for.

Banshee notes :
- Chayton is a real monster. I’m still pissed off he’s still alive, but he’s wounded. He’s a cold murderer, he even killed the woman who helped him. Bastard. Can’t wait for Hood to go to Louisiana and finally kill that motherfucker !
- So Rebecca made a deal with the crazy Salvadorians, behind Proctor’s back. Girl, if you’ve learnt anything from the past months is not to betray your uncle. He’s a sociopath. It was risky from Rebecca to act like that, just to prove her point. She wants to be in charge but she might not be capable of that just yet. Even Milton realized she had done something bad, so Proctor would find out soon enough…
- Deva: “You guys can’t just decide when to give a shit” she actually has a point there…
- So Hood isn’t off the FBI’s grid anymore… That sounds dangerous, something to look forward for the season finale ?
- I stopped breathing for 5 seconds when Job tried to open the door with Stowe’s voice…
