Banshee - We Were All Someone Else Yesterday - Advance Preview + Dialogue Teasers
Feb 13, 2015
Banshee Reviews SSThere’s no question that last week’s instalment has become the most talked about in the history of the show, and for many it has been the most upsetting one to date. While I have to admit that I found the last few scenes gut wrenching to get through, I did just about manage to keep my composure. This episode however is the one that finally broke me, a couple of times. I recommend you have tissues on standby, and maybe some hard liquor too if that’s your thing. The aftermath and grief felt at Siobhan’s death, and to some extent Leah’s too, hits the residents of Banshee as hard as it did its fans.
The opening lines to the episode are ones that we heard Leah recite on her death bed, The Lord’s Prayer. I’m sure that it’s not a coincidence that the point we cut away from Siobhan’s funeral is the same as when Emily started translating Leah last week. “As we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation.” These words are sage advice indeed for Hood and Proctor as they both work through their period of mourning in very different ways for the rest of the season. But this is Banshee, where things are done a little differently. No-one, least of all Hood, is going to forgive Chayton for what he has done and Proctor has always just taken whatever he desires, whenever he wants.
The Camp Genoa heist plans are coming together but with Hood’s head not in the game it could all be for nothing. With the FBI taking over the search for Chayton restricting the BSD to merely observers in the whole operation it’s no wonder he feels so helpless. Job, however, knows his partner better than anybody, and the only way to stop him languishing in despair is to motivate him into ending this his own way. When it comes down to it though Hood doesn’t go with a quick execution and instead can’t resist an approach intended to share the torment he is feeling inside. It’s understandable that he’d want to twist the knife and watch him suffer - I know many fans have been calling for a slow and painful death for the character too. Yet it’s also inevitable that this will give Chayton a chance to escape...for now.
We haven’t seen a great deal of Rebecca so far, chicken run and van burning aside, but this changes as we enter the second half of the season. It’s fair to say that her uncle is going through a difficult time. The death of a parent can be a life altering experience for many, causing you to seek the answers to questions in unusual places. The upshot of this is that it leaves her with more freedom and control over the business in his absence. Of course, it remains to be seen if this is actually a good idea or not given her rashness when dealing with Jim Cage in Snakes and Whatnot. I'm not complaining though, more Lili Simmons is always a good thing as far as I'm concerned, I feel like I have been missing her this season somewhat.
We Were All Someone Else Yesterday airs Friday February 13 at 10:00 ET/PT on Cinemax, below are some teasers to see you through until then. If you want to have a guess at who said what leave a comment below and I will fill in any correct ones on Friday. Don’t forget to come back and vote in our poll after the episode and let us know what you thought.
UPDATE Feb 12 - There's been some great guesses this week in the comments so I've updated the quotes early with all the correct ones so far. I'll fill in the missing three names if they're guessed by tomorrow evening.

“Now you don’t work for anybody, pack your shit and go” Rebecca to Savoy employee
“That guy, he never knew what hit him. How much you score?” Handsome stranger to Deva
“What I need is for the two of us to go find that fucker and make him pay for what he did to her” Brock to Hood
“I know this guy killed one of your own and I am sympathetic to that, that’s why you’ve been invited along” FBI to Hood
“You’ll learn things about me that you won’t like” Proctor to Emily
“Sounds like you’re sticking up for that piece of shit” Hood to Aimee
“Whatever you hear, I don’t wanna talk about it” Carrie to Job
“The Feds have operational command, don’t make this harder than it needs to be” Gordon to Hood
“Come Monday, I’m being sworn in as the new Sheriff” Real Lucas Hood to Sugar and Hood

So, Hood's desire to torment Chayton instead of quickly killing him leads to Chayton escaping? Don't know about future episodes but that is an epic form of foolhardiness. I will be disappointed if that doesn't come back to bite Hood on his ass because that is one huge f*ck up.
ReplyDelete“Come Monday, I’m being sworn in as the new Sheriff” - Oh HELLS Noo!
ReplyDelete“I miss what we had, and I know you miss it too” - Carrie? = thirst.
Another nice preview, thanks again for it!
ReplyDeleteI have 3 question if I may ask:
1. I saw Aimee King in promo, will she have more screen time in this episode (and if you have seen the rest of season, will she pop out again or this is so far her last episode as imdb says)
2. ill we learn something about Alison and that mysterious woman she hugged at the end of Tribal
3. If Kai is mourning and Rebecca is running business so no more of them lying naked in bed?
About this week Dialogue Teasers, it's hard this time, but let me try:
“I miss what we had, and I know you miss it too” - Gordon (to Carrie) or vice versa
“Now you don’t work for anybody, pack your shit and go” - Job?
“That guy, he never knew what hit him. How much you score?” - Sugar?
“What I need is for the two of us to go find that fucker and make him pay for what he did to her” - Hood (or Job... or Brock?)
“I know this guy killed one of your own and I am sympathetic to that, that’s why you’ve been invited along” - some FBI agent
“You’ll learn things about me that you won’t like” - Proctor (to Emily?)
“Sounds like you’re sticking up for that piece of shit” - no idea (Brock?)
“Whatever you hear, I don’t wanna talk about it” - Carrie?
“The Feds have operational command, don’t make this harder than it needs to be” - Job?
“Come Monday, I’m being sworn in as the new Sheriff” - Brock?
I don't think he's thinking straight at the moment really, he's hurting, more than he's ever done before probably. It is stupid, revenge does tend to be that though. But from his point of view I can kind of see where he's coming from, even though it's a bit naive perhaps.
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome VQ :) Aimee doesn't get a lot of screen time, but she is in one or two more episodes iirc. I don't remember seeing Alison's supposed girlfriend again this season. Have you read the Press Release for this months episodes? That will probably answer your other question, but I don't want to spoil you if you haven't/don't want to know, lol.
ReplyDeleteYou have the 5th, 6th and 8th ones correct and the 4th is said by one of those. The last one is something you might want to think about for a bit, you already know who says it ;)
The first one is a thinker ;) The second one is almost right.
ReplyDeleteI think @visitorQ probably got it right and it's Gordon :)
ReplyDeleteAny more Bunker in this episode? Never thought I'd be so "interested" in a (former) Nazi ;)
Me neither, but he is a very interesting, intense kinda character. You can't help but be drawn to him! He looks good in the uniform too ;) He's in a couple of small scenes only, but one of them shows that he has his bosses back no matter who/what the situation is.
ReplyDeleteHe's definitely easy on the eyes, but then his politeness just put him over the top. I really hope he doesn't turn out to have a nefarious ulterior motive. Though I'm guessing Tank will show up sometime this season or next.
ReplyDeleteP.S That boss better not be Brock! *shakes fist*
Oh thanks for answers:) although she don't get too much time I like Aimee and don't know why but all the time I see her as new Hood girl. Don't know why. But it's good she will be back. Shame about Alison I was hoping they would tell a little bit more about it. I read that press release but just once and quick, I think Kai will have romance with Emily right? But not sure if they will back for that naked-lying-in-bed.
ReplyDeleteSo for that 4th I will go with Job.
The last one could be from Real Lucas Hood in some flashback?
I haven't been able to rewatch last weeks episode, so If I do muster up the courage to watch this week I'll have some tissue ready. I'm expecting flashbacks, but if they do a Lucas and Siobhan "what could have been" moment, I'm gonna completely lose it. lol Also, I love the worldwide outpouring of grief for Siobhan on social media. I loved the character and knew she was popular, but had no idea how much. I hope the rest of the season convinces me that killer her off was even a small bit worth it.
ReplyDelete“I miss what we had, and I know you miss it too” (Stowe to Carrie)
“Now you don’t work for anybody, pack your shit and go” (Yaz to Aimee)
“That guy, he never knew what hit him. How much you score?” (Beaty to Deva)
“What I need is for the two of us to go find that fucker and make him pay for what he did to her”(Brock to Hood)
“I know this guy killed one of your own and I am sympathetic to that, that’s why you’ve been invited along” (FBI Agent to Hood)
“You’ll learn things about me that you won’t like” (Proctor to Emily)
“Sounds like you’re sticking up for that piece of shit” (Hood to Aimee)
“Whatever you hear, I don’t wanna talk about it” (Carrie)
“The Feds have operational command, don’t make this harder than it needs to be” (Gordon to Hood)
“Come Monday, I’m being sworn in as the new Sheriff” (Real Lucas Hood)
Lol you managed to not bibble on about Bunker til the comment section Sandi, I'm proud of you ;p
ReplyDeleteThat's the least he deserves, the poor girl begged for her life that was too cruel.

Haha, I'm proud of my restraint too! It's perhaps fortunate that he's not in this one a great deal and you were all saved my rambling on about how he looks in that Deputy uniform ;) My icon will be changing after TX on Friday night and I can screencap it legally, I'm allowed to do that from the screeners unfortunately :/ lol
ReplyDeleteIt does look like the Brotherhood will be more in the forefront in the future doesn't it. I think that would be an interesting change from concentrating on the tribe. Whatever Bunker's motives are I think he's a fascinating character, the guy certainly has a screen presence :)
ReplyDeleteI'd have liked to have seen more of Aimee too, but at the same time she doesn't seem such a straight and morally correct character that I don't think she would have kept up with how fast a furious much of the season has been so far, lol.
ReplyDeleteI kind of liked that they didn't make a big deal of Alison's sexuality in to be honest, just because she's gay doesn't mean that anything has to be made of that fact. Her lover was glad she was safe, doesn't matter if that person was male or female to me if they're not important to the plot at this point in time.
Yeah, Kai and Emily are going to bump uglies, I just didn't want to spoil that part if you didn't know. Rebecca isn't pleased to be replaced by another woman, which you will see the very start of in this episode.
Not Job I'm afraid, but yep it is the real Hood in flashback who says the other ;)
There has been a lot of love for both the actress and character this past week, I imagine that she feels truly touched by all the messages of support she has received. I think they thought long and hard about the decision to kill her off, it was a massive move to take after all. Personally, I think that the show moves on in a sympathetic and realistic (well, realistic for Banshee, lol) way from here to the end of the season. There is no whitewashing her death away and moving on as if it didn't happen, it has repercussions and knock on effects right the way up until the end of the finale. Hood portrays one of the most genuine sense of grief and loss I have ever seen on TV before, so I think it will be interesting to see if, and how, that will change him in the long term.
ReplyDeleteYou have 9 right, awesome! Only number 2 is wrong.
Nice one, you have 8 speakers right too :)
ReplyDeleteThanks again for all answers:)
ReplyDeleteI hope Aimee will be back for (now officially) season 4 and we will see more of her.
With the way Rebecca is going, I feel she might want to eliminate (permanently) Emily from Kai's life. Somehow I always wanted Rebecca to be with Hood (yeah I am guy and I'm doing all kind of shipping with lot's of shows, don't judge me;), so that would make a chance for it. Btw, in Rebecca Sins Promo she said: "I don't forgive you, and never will" and I'm curious if this line will be in this season and to who she will say it. To Kai or her parents or someone else?
Very glad to hear that her death really informs the rest of the season. Just watched the clip of Hood in her trailer and it was the left over food that made me tear up a bit. So, too soon for me. lol
ReplyDeleteYep, that plate of left over food got me too, it's those small things that will effect Hood for the rest of the season too. This is a huge loss for him and we are going to feel his pain as he works his way through the grief. Obviously there will be other aspects of the show that will lighten/change the mood, it's not all doom and gloom from here on out. That would be too morbid and depressing, lol.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I kinda hope Aimee will stick around too, I feel there's more to get to know about her. (I'm VERY happy about the confirmation of S4!!)
ReplyDeleteI'm not a shipper, but I know where you're coming from with Rebecca/Hood, they do seem quite suited for each other in many ways. When Kai told Hood to leave her alone when he left the Cadi last week, I got the feeling that the best thing he could do to fuck with Kai's head would be to get it on with her again, lol. That would also probably lead to a Hood/Burton showdown, and who doesn't wanna see that?!
You're gonna see Rebecca say that line on Friday night, but you're going to have to wait to see who she says it to I'm afraid ;)
Carrie sweet talking the Colonel? Cheating a bit here but I am basing this on the latest pics. :)
ReplyDeleteLOL something to look forward amounst all the grieving. My husband watched with me when I did my rewatch of last week & told me to stop drooling :D
ReplyDeleteYeah it's the scene in that photo, but it's him trying his luck with her. I've filled in all the correct guesses so far in the post above as so many have been right. There's only three names left to get, two of them will probably be a bit tough to get exactly right mind.
ReplyDeleteHaha! As long as there is Job, there will always be light moments! Although they did find a way to ruin the song 'You Are My Sunshine' for me.
ReplyDeleteI am guessing 2 and 3 will be characters we may not be that familiar with.
ReplyDeleteAs far as 8, there are just so many choices who Carrie could have told that / spoke in that tone:
- Colonel
- Hood
- Job
- Gordon
“Now you don’t work for anybody, pack your shit and go” Rebecca to Emily
ReplyDeleteThat guy, he never knew what hit him. How much you score?” That stoner kid that's always hanging around Deva? to Deva
ReplyDelete“Whatever you hear, I don’t wanna talk about it” Carrie to ?Hood
ReplyDeleteI like Bunker as well, but to me he has FBI plant written all over him. Maybe not for this season, but sor Season 4 for sure!
ReplyDeleteI'll fill in the missing names later on this evening. A couple may be a little hard to get exactly right, but the clues are out there if you read the preview/press release/etc :)
ReplyDeleteYeah, you won't be too familiar with those two, but the clues are out there if you do spoilers - I don't really include people/something unless I either hint at it in the preview, or they are in the press release or promos.
ReplyDeleteYep, it's one of those characters.
I very like that idea of Rebecca/Hood fling to piss off Kai. I know lots of people say that Rebecca confuses sex with love, but somehow I think she have true feelings for Hood - that's why she didn't tell Kai he was in Proctor's mansion in S2, and why she said to him: "then let me live with you". I wonder if she would kill Emily will she said to Kai: "either you with me or you don't".
ReplyDeleteThat line, I think it coulde be said to Kai about murder of Jason.
They showed Alison's girlfriend at the end of last week's episode
ReplyDeleteYes. I don't remember seeing her again in the rest of the season.
ReplyDeleteI think he's going to be an interesting character to watch, that's for sure :)
ReplyDeleteHmmm so I didn't get any right? Since the previews speak of Gordon and Carrie taking a new approach to parenting. I'll have to say:
ReplyDeleteWhatever you hear, I don't wanna talk about it is Carrie to Gordon
That guy, he never knew what hit him. How much you score is Gordon asking Deva
Ahh, that's next week's episode that the unique parenting scene is in, on the 20th. The quotes have all been filled in now though. I'm based in the UK, the other show I do for the site is airing right now, so this is the latest I will be able to fill them in I'm afraid :)
ReplyDeleteOh my you were not exaggerating about that deliciousness in uniform! Then he went & stood in front of Hood to block Mr. Grouchy FBI pants & I fell in love lol
ReplyDeleteBunker is the man ;) lol :))
ReplyDelete
