Banshee - All the Wisdom I Got Left - Advance Preview + Dialogue Teasers

Last week’s episode had a gang of stoners staging their version of Fight Club in Charlie’s old pool after the opening credits. This time round we get the real deal as Hood and Brock venture to Louisiana’s murky Underground club in search of Chayton. As you might expect, its combatants are a tad more ruthless than a bunch of hormonal wannabes back in Banshee and we are treated to three bloodthirsty fights as the baying crowd cheer on.

The crew have taken full advantage of the New Orleans setting for the sections of the episode set out there; the hunt takes in the Mississippi, one of the cemeteries, the French Quarter and the swamps. But the best action, for me anyway, takes place in the rather claustrophobic setting of a hotel room, when Hood and Chayton have their much touted knife fight. It’s a two minutes adrenaline rush of blade slashing, body slamming and glass smashing before the main chase starts across the French Quarter between the two adversaries.

Poor old Brock gets left out of much of the conflict, which is possibly a good thing in some ways since he had issues after the way Hondo was dealt with at the start of the season. But it’s very important that he’s there all the same. As ever, he is the voice of reason making things clear to Hood when he needs it the most.

Rebecca’s plans to deal with Hector backfires spectacularly this week, in a way that should have been foreseeable to anyone with half an ounce of common sense. As we saw in the last episode, Burton is already suspicious of her behaviour, and we’ll see that spark of distrust continue to grow as he keeps a close eye on the business. She’s a crafty business woman though, and although her first plan to keep her uncle’s right-hand man at bay goes down like a lead balloon, she soon finds a different way to keep him in check for now.

With a cool six million sitting around gathering dust, Sugar feels that he can finally pay back an old boxing debt from his past. Only problem is that being the newest member of the group, he doesn’t realise that you don’t going dipping in the honey pot without telling any of the others about it first. This side plot gives him some lovely character development however, as we get to learn a bit more about his past.

Frankie Faison and Hoon Lee have played off each other wonderfully this season with the bickering and disagreements, yet now we also get to see a deeper side to their relationship. Scenes like this prove that you don’t always need spraying bullets and swinging fists in order to have amazing moments in this show. Two incredible actors sharing a drink while one bears their soul to the other can be just as special, and I adore that time was made to include this moving back story for one of my favourite characters on the show in amongst the backdrop of all the mayhem in the rest of the episode.

Talking of the heist money, Colonel Stowe is raging about the theft, as you might expect. He and his technical guy, Leo (Dennis Flanagan), start to piece together how the whole event was carried out. If you have read next month’s Press Releases then you will know that they have a pretty good idea who to concentrate on first. It looks like some dark days are ahead for the group before this season is done.

“It can be our secret, and in the end he’ll thank us for it” Rebecca to Burton

“Well, if it ain’t for money and it ain’t for glory there’s only one thing left. Who was she?” Job to Sugar
