    Ollie = no, Thea....I don't know. MAYBE she could resort to killing, but I suppose Ollie will talk her down of it.


    The only person I see Ollie ever killing again is Ra's al Ghul, but even then he may do the right thing by not ending Ra's al Ghul's life.

    not sure if Felicity in "flashback is a great idea......more of a pandering to Olicity when there is no connection.....Roy is a street kid so it may make sense and Diggle I not sure what they could do in flashback

    Felicity will be in a little scene in present time Starling, for sure. She being in the flashbacks would not make sense, at all.


    The "Olicity" scene i think will be some conversation about her between either Oliver and Thea or Oliver and Slade.


    I love her, but she has nothing to do in the flashbacks.

    Felicity: "You told me you had a choice. That years ago, you had a chance to cure Slade but you chose to kill him instead. This isn't happening because you're not willing to be a killer. It's happening because you were one."
    Oliver: "You're right that's how this started. And it's how it has to end. The only move that he has left for me is to kill him. I can't cure him, I can't capture him, I can't even out-think him."
    Felicity: "Then, don't. Make him out-think you."
    ...
    Oliver to Slade: "You helped turn me into a killer when I needed to be one...But over the past year, I've needed to be more, and I faltered. But then I stopped you--without killing. You helped me become a hero, Slade. Thank you."


    Think they'll reuse the same dialogue--let's see, change Slade to Ra's, city to Thea, and cure/capture/out-think to just duel--or will they write it brand new for the second time around?

    Could this episode also mark a change in Ollie's characterization? A literal return to Lian Yu in the present could be a metaphorical breakthrough for Ollie in finally getting rid of the person he once once. The more witty, humorous Ollie could start to break through while Ollie tries to enjoy life now(although, more of this will obviously have to happen AFTER Ollie's struggles with Ra's al Ghul). In "Canaries", Laurel told the truth about how Ollie goes out to disguise his own emotional turmoil and returning to Lian Yu could be a step in the right direction to absolve that.

    They could simply show these characters cross paths without noticing each other. We do see such things happening in shows where falsh backs are done. As everyone pointed out above Felicity might not be in the flashbacks. But Diggle definitely is there.

    I don't see Oliver killing anyone unless it is an accident. Or if he sees some one he loves being tortured in an inhuman way or something like that. Even then the show has come to a point where he won't kill.
    Thea I think would want badly to kill Slade but will not be able to go through with it. But then again she did shoot Merlyn in season 2 finale.

    Slade is her mother's killer. He killed Moira in front of her eyes. You can't blame her to want to hurt Slade. Wanting something and doing the same are different. Also we can't forget she shot Merlyn twice last season finale. So its not that OOC even if she kills Slade.

    I guess it depends on whether Thea was going for the kill shot. I get her wanting to hurt Slade... But if Thea were to go for that kill shot, then that wouldn't make sense to me. Like multiple people have said, Thea is not a killer. And for her to suddenly have the desire to kill Slade is just not in character, imo because Thea is innately /good/.

    A man who's killed over 500 people, mind raped his own daughter to kill her friend, who tortured a woman and manipulated her, and sent Oliver to his own death, OH and was terrible to his own son probably deserves a kick in the groin area and then some. In my mind, Malcolm deserves death. So a kick in the nuts shouldn't be as bad.

    I think it's just a matter of realization of who he has become and not he he was. I wouldn't be surprised of Ollie is so close at killing Ra's with an arrow, then decides against it to only be dealt with by someone else. Maybe Merlyn, maybe even Nyssa...but I just this "The Return" is going to mean a lot to Ollie's development as a sign of this being the last time he will ever return to the darkness he endured for years. Even in Hon Kong, Lian Yu was still pulling him back as that's where he will end up being before he is finally rescued.

    I honestly think Ollie will start to learn about the people of Starling City and try to become mayor, or at least an alderman for the Glades first, then mayor, and then finally get his company back and re-branding it as Queen Inc like the future newspaper on The Flash.

    Who wouldn't shoot Merlyn? Lol. Ollie almost wanted to kill Merlyn in "The Climb" too, haha. I think everyone wants to kill Merlyn deep down.


    But yah, there's no way the writers will make Ollie kill again. It just doesn't make sense. Ollie will be close to killing Ra's, but it'll never actually happen. Ollie is better than that.

    I think it will work if Oliver hosted some party scene which has not happen this season where he is starting a foundation in order to help the Glades....if he get Palmer to back him it would work.....we need some happy moments instead of depression and sad

    It could be part of the 'Star City' rebranding campaign where Ollie and Ray decide to help out all of the burrows in Starling which includes the Glades. Whatever happens, though, Ollie needs to really step up in trying to help out the city without having to put on the green hood. There needs to be an equal value of Ollie helping the city as much as The Arrow is.

    Remind me again why is Lian Yu Oliver's greatest fear? And how did Malcolm manage to get Slade out? And when?

    Oliver spent the whole past season trying not to be a killer and now he's just accepting Malcolm's plan AND he's letting Malcolm teach him to be a killer again!! To fulfill his sick twist plan!!!!!!
    I'll try not to think too much about it because I REALLY need a good episode and this one sounds promising so I'll choose to ignore the infuriating parts so I could enjoy it.

    Yeah I really hope they just cross paths without noticing each other. If I find out Oliver scoped his team out before coming back to Starling I'm going to be so disappointed. I like how each of them came to be on the team, I don't want to believe that Oliver somehow orchestrated it

    The whole point of him working with Malcolm is to learn to be a better killer. That's what bothering me the most, Malcolm made this psychologic plan and Oliver is just going with it. And worse he's offering Malcolm a chance to redeem himself and be a better father while the three of them work on fulfilling the plan gaaaaaaah
    i need a plot twist to make me less angry about how messed up all of this feels.

    That Oliver is an idiot for trusting Merlyn. And that by teaming up with him - as Diggle pointed out - would be letting the ends justify the means which would make Oliver one step closer to being like Merlyn. Which is why Felicity doesn't want anything to do with Oliver in a romantic sense, and why TA was really questioning Oliver in the last episode.

    That Oliver facing Slade with the question of to kill or not to kill is a huge character regression and redundant plotting to boot. We already did this story, it was last season. But I was told (again) that I don't know what's going to happen and Malcolm isn't trying to awaken Oliver's killer instinct and I'm reaching.


    I'm just wondering at what point I'm allowed to form an opinion that sending Oliver back to re-fight Slade shouldn't have a different outcome than it did before and if it does then not only have we erased Oliver's character growth from S3, but S2 as well (but that was kinda a given the minute he started working with the man who killed Tommy).


    And not related to my original comment but generally part of my same rant: Oliver faced his Lian Yu demons. Oliver beat Slade. And Malcolm sending him back to learn to be season 1 Oliver has NOTHING to do with what Malcolm learned from Ra's, so WHY is Oliver working with him? Malcolm needs to bring something new to the table and fast because right now, he's putting Oliver and Thea in more danger than Ra's is.

    While you're at it, can someone remind when Ra's preyed on "fear"? All I remember is him stabbing Oliver in a fair fight with Oliver's sword. There was no manipulation to it, just better sword fighting.

    It would be completely inconsistent. Oliver's returned to Lian Yu a couple of times. It is actually kind of a haven for him. Look at 2.01. TPTB are going to have to give me something better than just stepping foot on the island or re-defeating Slade to explain a character shift.

    If I had a choice I would ask Oliver to kill all of them off so that they can never come back. But the way the show is going they have introduced this no kill policy and killing corrupts the soul theory which is a common comic book trope. Heroes always let villains live and only capture them. It will come back and bite their ass later. Look at Batman and Joker. He let Joker live and put him in Arkham Assylum from where he broke out and put Oracle in the wheel chair and killed a bunch of people. It's idiotic but that's the way heroes operate. Once you let the no kill rule into a heroes ideals they usually don't go back.

    But Thea has changed. I am sure she will not be able kill Slade. But she will want to badly and that is in character imo. He kidnapped her and her mother tied them up and gave Oliver a Sophie's choice forcing Moira to give herself up. He then killed her with a sword through the chest in front of Thea. And as far as we can see from the promo pictures he is going to attack them too. So her wanting to kill him for all he has done is understandable. The question is will she go through with it.

    I still think at the end of the season Oliver will come to a compromise with Ra's. Ra's will not be killed. I can see Thea handing off Malcolm to LoA to leave Starling CIty alone.

    Looking forward to the scenes with Arrow, Thea and Slade on the island. Malcolm is crazy! It think it's funny that the producers actually felt the need to make a flash-back centric episode for a show that really has no shortage of flash-back scenes.

    When? After he finished spouting his reasons for killing people, Oliver said he was unarmed and he told Oliver he would take his swords. Then, he didn't say another thing until he told Oliver he should be proud he lasted as long as he did and then he did the death benediction. At no point ANYWHERE did Ra's mess with Oliver's head, prey on his fears, or anything else.

    You need to rewatch the scene. Ra's didn't say anything until he was walking Oliver off the cliff with a sword pointed at his throat. It wasn't about knocking him off his game. He was complimenting him.


    Of course Ra's didn't take the fight seriously--he started off unarmed! But when Oliver "earned" his respect he gave it.

    Would Ra's al Ghul ever be the type to compromise with a hero, though? That may be the question. I also think Merlyn will end up being taken by the League, but I see him still being a thorn to Ollie's side....at least until the 100th episode where Merlyn will probably die in.

    I think, honestly, when it comes to other people, Ollie doesn't want to see people die. When it's his own hands, he'll get dirty if necessary as he was about to kill Merlyn himself in "The Climb". That goes back to S1 when he was actually perfectly fine to kill, but he did not want Helena to kill. This continues in S3 but Ollie has a choice to not kill anymore because he's still trying to become better, but that's not to say he wouldn't if he really needed to to keep anyone else's hands clean. And that also means, not letting the League kill Merlyn, especially when he's still tied to Thea at this point. When Thea decides to not "be" a Merlyn anymore, I think then Ollie will gladly let the League take Merlyn as a prisoner.

    Oliver was outmatched. It had nothing to do with anger. He doesn't know how to fight with two swords. They never showed him being angry and out of control. They simply showed him getting beaten by a superior swordsman.

    I don't think they will ever kill Merlyn. They will send him away then bring him back again and again. After all he is Oliver's main nemesis. Merlyn is a weasel he will find some way to get out of League's clutches.


    I don't think Thea will leave Starling but I do think Laurel will go from Starling to learn more fighting techniques. Then they can introduce her as full fledged hero in season 4.

    I just have a hunch that something big has to happen in the 100th episode and the only thing I can think of is a final Ollie vs Merlyn battle where Merlyn finally bites the bullet.


    I could see Laurel learning other techniques, but I don't see her leaving Starling, but just training under Ollie, Diggle...OR, maybe Laurel indeed does end up leaving and is trained by Nyssa. That was somewhat hinted at earlier this season.
