Is considered Jamie Fraser supporting or guest character? I thought he was one of three main characters, second to Claire?
ReplyDeleteIt really was horrible to watch, I adored that character.
ReplyDeleteConnor, Elsa & Anna, Oberyn, Ingrid & Zelena.
ReplyDeleteTrubel on Grimm.
ReplyDeleteNyssa and Ra's on Arrow.
Mason Verger on Hannibal.
Kai on The Vampire Diaries.
Maxine on Person of Interest.
Nick Hawley on Sleepy Hollow.
Elrich & Dinesh on Silicon Valley.
Lindsay & Edgar on You're the Worst.
Larrick on The Americans - great antagonist.
'Vee' on Orange is the New Black - great villain.
Chayton on Banshee - he is Banshee's version of Bane.
Penguin on Gotham. Also Bullock - he has really grow on me.
Franka Potente as Eleanor Nacht on The Brdige - another awesome villain.
I want to add Vanessa Ives on Penny Dreadful -can she be considered as supporting?
Lord Stephane Narcisse.
ReplyDeleteOberon Martell should win this. He was a great new character.
ReplyDeleteKitty Winter for Elementary has been excellent - Ophelia Lovibond has done a stunning job
ReplyDeleteFor what it's worth, the worst from the shows I watch is Portia de Rossi's character on Scandal.
Connor (HTGAWM), Penguin (Gotham), Other - Louise (REVENGE)
ReplyDeleteOberyn Martel and The Penguin.
ReplyDeleteI voted OTHER, because I do not watch any of the shows listed here.
ReplyDeleteMy favourite new tv characters in 2014 were:
Kitty Winter, Elementary
Kate Callahan, Criminal Minds
Ellie Bishop, NCIS (technically the characters was introduced in 2013, but at the end of year, so perhaps that counts?)
I don't know if these are considered supporting or main characters, but that's all I've got. Other characters I liked were all very temporary (for one or two episode arch guest characters, who will not be seen again)
Trubel on Grimm, also Noah on The Walking Dead.
ReplyDeleteKevin Pollak on Mom
ReplyDeleteI love this one.
ReplyDeleteOberyn
Nyssa/Ra's
Caitlin/Cisco
Kane/Abby/Raven/Anya -The 100
Molly - Fargo
Bobbi/Hunter - AoS
Vanessa is series regular
ReplyDeleteConnor, love him always and Vee although I can't stand her she was pretty great as a bad character.
ReplyDeleteUh, Nyssa was introduced half way through season 2 in 2014. There is only one lead in Outlander and it isn't Jamie. By awards standards, he would probably be regarded as a supporting character, but I guess it's a bit of a grey zone.
ReplyDeletePops/Blackish
ReplyDeleteTrubel/Grimm
Elsa\Anna\Ouat
Owsald Cobblepot/Penguin/ Gotham
Nyssa al Ghul/Arrow
Constance/The Musketeers
For me the 3 new characters that revitalized aging shows were Trubel on Grimm, Margaret on Resurrection, and Kitty on Elementary. Each of these characters have turned around a show that was starting to fray. I also like Nick Hawley because he's the one chance of humor we've got in Sleepy Hollow this year and Bobbi on SHIELD has been fantastic. Can't go wrong with another kick butt female on TV. If I got another vote, it would be Lexa on The 100, who is chilling as the new Grounder Queen.
ReplyDeleteI consider him a main character too along with a couple others on this list.
ReplyDeletePenguin,Kai,Connor,Elsa,Anna,Oberyn,Trubel,Rogelio,Snow queen & Jamie.
ReplyDelete1?elsa/Anna
ReplyDelete2.Ingrid/Snow Queen
3.Conner
4.Kai
5.Rogelio
6.Zelena
I love Cisco too and with each episode he gets better. I'm also very fond of Iris, Caitlin and Detective West (esp. his relationship with Barry), but Cisco is definitely the scene stealer!
ReplyDeleteYeah..there were definitely a few other characters I wasn't sure about (like Connor snd Higgs), who could easily be seen as leads. In the end, I based it on whether I thought they'd be nominated in a lead or supporting actor role and I thought "supporting". With a show like the Musketeers, the four main characters seem equal in terms of billing, so I treated them all as leads. But i have to admit..I wasn't entirely sure where to draw the line!
ReplyDeleteVoted for Connor(HTGAWM), Cisco (The Flash), Narcisse(Reign), Oberyn(GoT) and #RogelioMyBrogelio (Jane the Virgin).
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed the Zelena character much more than Ingrid on OUAT as she was a truly delightful villian till the end & you could feel that Rebecca Mader really sunk her teeth into the role.
ReplyDeleteOberyn Martell (GoT) & Trubel (Grimm) were my other favorites.
The Penguin on Gotham... Hands down...
ReplyDeleteI hate OUAT fans who have already forgotten Zelena.
ReplyDeleteNyssa!
ReplyDeleteMy favourites:
ReplyDeleteTrubel (Grimm)
Cisco (Flash) (I also also love Detective. West, Iris West and Caitlin Snow)
Finn Polmar
Nysaa al Ghul
Oberyn Martel
Nick Hawley
Constance & King Louis (The Musketeers)
Pops (Black-ish)
My favourite is Kai,he's an amazing villain. After him:
ReplyDeleteAnna/Elsa
Oberyn Martell
Ingrid
Liv and Luke
My 5 Votes... Cisco, Kai (best villain ever), Nyssa, Ra's al Ghul , and Selina Kyle. I swear I only watch the show for her.
ReplyDeleteKing Louis, Oberyn Martell & Oswald Cobblepot on the list. Simon Monroe (Emmett Scanlan) - In the Flesh & Tom Anderson (Colin Morgan) - The Fall for others
ReplyDeleteCONNOR! The only character from HTGAWM I like other than Annalise.
ReplyDeleteNyssa and Cisco are my life
ReplyDeleteOberyn Martell- Game of Thrones
ReplyDeleteTrubel- Grimm
Lance Hunter- AOS
Skye's dad-AOS
Oberyn Martell on GoT (amazingly and too shortly portrayed by Pedro Pascal! :) ), Jamie on Outlander (Supporting character? Really? I just can't imagine the show without him!), Cisco on The Flash (he's just so funny), The Snow Queen is now one of my favorite villains on OUAT, Nyssa on Arrow (such an amazing fighter, a kick butt woman who could teach a lot to Laurel in my opinion), Nick Hawley on Sleepy Hollow (at least he brings some humor on the show this season), Bobbi and Hunter on Shield because they add a lot of fun for me to the damaged original team.
ReplyDeleteI voted for Cisco cause who doesn't like Cisco and Fish because I think he performance on Gotham is amazing
ReplyDeleteConnor from HTGAWM. Not on the list: Martine on POI.
ReplyDeleteConnor!
ReplyDeletesame
ReplyDeleteI love how your list goes from the shortest line to the longest.
ReplyDeleteElsa & Anna (OUAT)
ReplyDeleteIngrid/Snow Queen (OUAT)
Zelena (OUAT)
Connor Walsh (HTGAWM)
Oberyn Martel (Game of Thrones)
Too much time on my hand. SMH. FML. ;) :)
ReplyDeleteCruella (OUAT)
ReplyDeleteVoted for Constance (The Musketeers) and Elsa/Anna OUAT (Although I much preferred Elsa to Anna if I'm honest) and Oberyn GoT he was my fave of all, sucks that he was killed off but I guess they have to stick to the book in some ways!.
ReplyDeleteI can see how the line between supporting and lead can be confusing, especially with a lot of shows. For me the difference isn't so much how it would be judged at an award show, although that does seem more objective, but more in how the characters are treated in terms of story and screentime. For instance I see Jamie adn Connor as a definite lead. They may not be the #1 main lead but they are essential to the plot and in basically every episode. I guess for me anyone who is in almost every episode and has a significant role is a lead even if not the main person. I would actually put Cisco and Constance in that position as well even if they clearly are not the main or even secondary main characters. It all comes down to semantics I guess. We each interpret characters in our own way. I appreciate you creating this poll because it gave us a chance to have this conversation and many of the USD polls don't really do that. Kudos.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the response!
