WOW, i submited this poll a few days ago and it´s already been picked, yeih. For me it´s Bargaining Part 1 and 2, loved it, it was the beggining of my favourite season, well, actually it´s a tie between S5 and S6. Then I really liked the two part series premiere, then 3x01, 5x01, 2x01 and 7x01
Season six premiere was the best even though I hated most of season six episodes except for the last four of the season runner up season five buffy vs dracula just like the end part when they introduce buffy sister dawn and season seven because I like that we went back to the high school where it all started
It's the season 6 premiere. At the end of the first half she is resurrected and in the 2nd half she digs herself out of her own grave and is reunited with the Scoobys
Season Six - Bargaining...by a very, very long way. I'm still trying to get my head around the fact that Buffy finished airing so long ago. It holds up very well against current shows.
My favourite season premiere was also the sixth one, and my favourite seasons are: 1-S5 and S6 (they are tied, I can´t choose, love them both soooo much) 3-S3 4-S2 5-S7 6-S4 7-S1
I've always felt that Buffy premieres are not that outstanding and remarkable. Season premieres and finales are usually big episodes for every show, and whereas Buffy always nailed it with the finales and did some of the most iconic and beloved special episodes in the history of television (I'm talking of course of wonders such as "Hush", "The Body" and "Once More, With Feeling"), its premieres are just okay. Great, as every episode was. But not that great. They would rarely introduce the season's Big Bads, which I always thought to be odd, and would often deal with episodic, monster-of-the-week stories (hell dimension in "Anne", Sunday's gang in "The Freshman" and of course Dracula), which doesn't seem fitting for a season premiere.
- "Bargaining" was the only one feeling like an actual event. - "Anne" & "When She Was Bad" were more like aftermath. - "Buffy vs. Dracula" was just fan-service. - "Lessons" set the (trite) tone for season 7.
My mother and I think it's the best TV show ever made. One of the few that can be called a masterpiece (others being Babylon 5 and Battlestar Galactica, so I call them the three big Bs).
I'm partial to "Buffy vs. Dracula". A mostly funny episode that nonetheless serviced the characters, and the plot of Buffy getting in touch with her Slayer roots as a consequence of last season's excellent finale "Restless". The season premiere was something of a breather before the new Big Bad, Glory, showed up to ruin everyone's day. And I really liked the moment where Buffy tells Giles that she wants him to be her Watcher again; it was touching, and she hadn't even known that he had been planning to go back to England but what she said convinced him otherwise (despite Willow being terrible at keeping a secret).
I think Welcome to the Hellmouth is one of the best pilots I've seen. It felt like it had been in a drawer for years and pulled out and polished many times before it made the air. However, I picked Lessons as my favorite. Bargaining would be a close second.
The 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th season openers were generally my least liked eps of their respective seasons. That said...what I generally found, when re-watching each of these seasons was that Joss Whedon would have always included groundwork for the season's arc story. So, after season two, I may not have liked the season premiere but I knew I could trust Joss to feed my story beast a satisfying meal.
hi, Buffy is 1 of my favorite series ever, the 1st fantasy show i ever watched, special place in my heart this show has. i own the series, i loved all of the season premieres, they have a special place in my heart. in order from the best-S2,> S3>, S5, >S1, >S6,> S4 >S7.
1. Welcome to the Hellmouth 2. The Harvest 3. Witch 4. Teacher's Pet 5. Never Kill a Boy on the First Date 6. The Pack 7. Angel 8. I, Robot... You, Jane 9. The Puppet Show 10. Nightmares 11. Out of Mind, Out of Sight 12. Prophecy Girl
My mind doesn't really run to favorites. They're all good, of course. "Witch", "Out of Mind, Out of Sight", "Prophecy Girl", "Nightmares", the premiere all come to mind. I always liked the level of detail in "I, Robot... You, Jane" in that there were background events going on because of Moloch causing computer chaos.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
when does Buffy get pulled from Heaven?
ReplyDeletehmm seems bargaining is winning, which doesn't surprise me.
ReplyDeleteBut I went with When She Was Bad, with Bargaining a close second.
Its interesting that if I had to rank the premiers against Angel, apart from the first episode City of, all the Angel premiers were kinda boring.

ReplyDeleteSeason six was by far the best season opener for me.
ReplyDeleteSeason six.
ReplyDeleteseason 6 ep 3 (I think). She even sings about it in Once More With Feelings.
ReplyDeleteSeason six, obviously. 7x01 comes second.
ReplyDeleteSeems to almost be unanimous for season 6's premiere which I totally agree with. Damn I miss this show.
ReplyDeleteSeason six premiere was the best even though I hated most of season six episodes except for the last four of the season runner up season five buffy vs dracula just like the end part when they introduce buffy sister dawn and season seven because I like that we went back to the high school where it all started
ReplyDeleteI might be the only person on earth who still haven't seen BTVS till date!LOL!
ReplyDeleteYou should, it´s awesome, it´s TV quality from the best IMO :)
ReplyDeleteSeason 7 or season 1
ReplyDeleteIt's the season 6 premiere. At the end of the first half she is resurrected and in the 2nd half she digs herself out of her own grave and is reunited with the Scoobys
ReplyDeleteI definitely will.
ReplyDeleteBargaining and Lessons.
ReplyDeleteSeason Six - Bargaining...by a very, very long way. I'm still trying to get my head around the fact that Buffy finished airing so long ago. It holds up very well against current shows.
ReplyDeleteActually she is resurrected in the 2nd half, minute 47, that makes it the second half :P
ReplyDeleteI miss Buffy so much my favorite season premiere was season 6's but my favorite season was when the gang was in college how about you guys?
ReplyDeleteMy favourite season premiere was also the sixth one, and my favourite seasons are:
ReplyDelete1-S5 and S6 (they are tied, I can´t choose, love them both soooo much)
3-S3
4-S2
5-S7
6-S4
7-S1
"When She Was Bad" - I also really love "The Harvest".
ReplyDeleteSeason-wise, I'd go 2 > 3 > 5 > 1 > 6 > 4 > 7
Season 1 was more of an introduction I thought it was OK and it only had 13 episodes! Did you ever watch the spin-off Angel?
ReplyDeleteI did, even though I don´t remember it very well, like Buffy way more, don´t like Angel as a character that much, but someday I´ll watch it again

ReplyDeleteTo be honest all seasons finales and premieres are some of my favs episodes.
ReplyDeleteoh ok
ReplyDeleteso no Angel for you?
ReplyDeletePersonally I thought Angel was darker which made me like it a little more but Buffy will always be my number 1.
ReplyDelete- "Bargaining" was the only one feeling like an actual event.
ReplyDelete- "Anne" & "When She Was Bad" were more like aftermath.
- "Buffy vs. Dracula" was just fan-service.
- "Lessons" set the (trite) tone for season 7.
you ever notice how spin-offs of action/drama shows are darker?
ReplyDeleteMy mother and I think it's the best TV show ever made. One of the few that can be called a masterpiece (others being Babylon 5 and Battlestar Galactica, so I call them the three big Bs).
ReplyDelete12, actually.
ReplyDeleteWhich spinoffs other than Angel are you thinking of?
ReplyDeleteI'm partial to "Buffy vs. Dracula". A mostly funny episode that nonetheless serviced the characters, and the plot of Buffy getting in touch with her Slayer roots as a consequence of last season's excellent finale "Restless". ReplyDeletewell for me The Originals
ReplyDeleteAh, I thought you might be thinking of Torchwood.
ReplyDeleteI think Welcome to the Hellmouth is one of the best pilots I've seen. It felt like it had been in a drawer for years and pulled out and polished many times before it made the air. However, I picked Lessons as my favorite. Bargaining would be a close second.

ReplyDeleteOh I thought It was 13 thanks.
ReplyDeleteNow that I think of it yeah I have.
ReplyDeletehi, Buffy is 1 of my favorite series ever, the 1st fantasy show i ever watched, special place in my heart this show has. i own the series, i loved all of the season premieres, they have a special place in my heart. in order from the best-S2,> S3>, S5, >S1, >S6,> S4 >S7.
ReplyDeleteThe relationship between Doctor Who and Torchwood's often been compared to that between Buffy and Angel.
ReplyDeleteIn all these cases, the spinoff features slightly older characters, doesn't it?
1. Welcome to the Hellmouth
ReplyDelete2. The Harvest
3. Witch
4. Teacher's Pet
5. Never Kill a Boy on the First Date
6. The Pack
7. Angel
8. I, Robot... You, Jane
9. The Puppet Show
10. Nightmares
11. Out of Mind, Out of Sight
12. Prophecy Girl
OKAY THANKS? ?
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome. Just trying to be helpful, not superior or anything, in case that came across wrong.
ReplyDeleteNo it didn't I was just confused because you said the same thing twice.
ReplyDeleteOh, no, I just thought it would be nice to see that there were exactly 12 with a list and what they each were.
ReplyDeleteWhich was your favorite episode of season one?
ReplyDeleteMy mind doesn't really run to favorites. They're all good, of course. "Witch", "Out of Mind, Out of Sight", "Prophecy Girl", "Nightmares", the premiere all come to mind.
