I guess it depends how they choose to end season 4.... no cliffhanger, that means lol. But I hope there won't be a season 5, I think this series must come to an end.
Mmm, in my opinion it depends on the spring ratings and how the current season ends. If it can stay above a 1.0 then a shortened final season would help it in syndication + pushing it to 100 episodes wouldn't hurt. But if it drops below a 1.0 then I don't think it'd be worth dragging it out.
They should let it bow out with some dignity rather then dragging it through the mud (like FOX had to do with Glee).
I really want to continue, for much like the series, the new schedule didn't help and so the audience fell. But if it is for a season, I prefer full season.
I love Revenge. It's one of those shows that I never leave behind, I always watch it the same week it airs. Yes it jumps the shark at times and I might not exactly love each twist they pull, but it's still one of my favourite shows. because it's perfectly written and acted week after week and they always manage to keep the story fresh and going.
That said, I'm perfectly aware that ratings are not good enough to keep it on the air for long so I'm ready to let it go as long as it procudes an appropriate finale. I don't care if it's at the end of this season or after a short fifth season, but I just need it to come to an explosive conclusion, like only Revenge can do.
No and the writers have 12 episodes to wrap things up, which is perfectly possible. The show has one question to answer and it is: will Emily get her revenge against Victoria?
What's the argument for a 5th season when ABC has only two dramas getting worse ratings (Forever and Resurrection)?
You're so right. That's for the suits to worry about. Sad is the day when fans of a show have to worry and commentate on viewing statistics instead of on the characters and storylines. Sometimes I see terrible viewing ratings for a show I love (like Haven) and I worry about it, instead of just enjoying the show while it's here.
I think they should end it this season. The writing is beyond average, they turned it into a soap and ruined the good show it was back in the season 1.
I voted yes, it is too late to wrap everything for the season 4 finale I guess unless ABC already warned the production about a possible cancellation. I want a short or full season, number of episodes doesn't matter but I want a proper ending, well-written.
Yes I want another season! Specially if ABC doesn't announce this as the final season and cancel it in May with a cliffhanger. In that case I think Netflix would pick it up cause Revenge does good there.
I think we need to know if this is the final season or if it is going to end next season. If this is the end the writers need to know to wrap it up, if it is renewed they can step up the game for the wrap up. I'm fine either way, but what we need is clarity
The argument is that it will give Revenge 100 episode, which is better for syndication sells. It all comes down to that. Also helping it is the fact that the show has remained at 1.3-1.2 range since April and it has been higher rated than many of the shows preceeding it in the timeslot. Of course, that would usually wouldn't matter, the only thing really keeping Revenge on the mix for another season is the possibility of making better syndication sells.
I personally want a short final season cause I saw on twittee that the writers were already on episode 17. I don't think that it's enough time for the writers to write this show a proper conclusion. I think that a short final season should be enough to give it a satisfying conclusion.
Agreed seeing that there's no ending in sight is when u have to worry more about ratings instead of just enjoying the show. I hope that it gets a final season so that way fans won't have ratings anxieties
Had to vote no. Used to be a big fan of this show, but dropped it a few episodes ago this season as it has been dreadful imo. Couple that with the fact that the rating just do not justify a renewal in any sense, and that gives you my no vote.
But why would someone invest in a show which will be surely cancelled. As for example-i was thinking about giving resurrection a try before but i try now and it ends without any resolution & it will end that way, that's on me coz i wasn't smarter.Tv renewal has become very ruthless now-a-days,so at least i think we need to keep our eyes open while going in to invest emotionally in a show.If it's casual viewing,it's okay either way,it doesn't matter IMO.
Aye, but don't you at least enjoy the episodes along the way. Sure I get frustrated as hell when a show ends without resolution but that did not take away from my enjoyment of the episodes up until that point. In some ways it's best not to know if the show will be renewed or not so you can just enjoy the moment.
I enjoyed many shows this year knowing full well that it is going to get axed pre-maturely/by may-RBS,Forever & stalker. But i made an informed decision to watch these shows so that when it ends,i don't end up sounding like a deranged Star-crossed/Secret circle/ringer fan and move on naturally to other shows. That's the way i work.
Yes I think Revenge should be renewed for at least a 12 ep final season, only because it'll bring the show even more closure and time to get it all wrapped up and also I want the show to end with 100 episodes. It's gone too far to not hit the 100 mark.
Definitely! This show has a story and it needs to be resolved organically. They've been building up to one hell of a showdown since the premiere and if fans didn't get that pay-off, then it would leave a lot of people angry.
I voted no. The writers have the rest of this season to resolve the story line. I expect that the writers are not smart enough to end the season without a cliffhanger and that season 4 will end on a meaningless cliffhanger that would set up a potential season 5, but that season 4 will also work as a series finale.
I think the writers could resolve the story line in 1 episode, 5 is plenty to write an ending. The writers will do this IMO in an attempt to get a fifth season. They are going to write a season finale that works as a series finale (the season 3 finale almost would have worked as a series finale) but end the show on a meaningless cliffhanger that would set up season 5.
sure they resolve it in 1 episode, but the problem is that this show needs resolution. theres no way that the writers could give it resolution in just one episode.
Sure they can and they actually have 5 episodes according to you left this season to end the series. There are only four significant things to resolve. David and this Malcolm Black guy unless David is once again lying? What happens to Victoria? Do Jack and Emily end up together? Does Emily reveal that she is Amanda Clarke to the world? The rest of the story lines involving Louise (crazy chick), Daniels baby with the French Canadian actress playing French are not that important. Add in a satisfying end for the Nolan character unless he gets killed off between now and the season finale, and the show is done.
that will just makes the series finale seem rushed. theres no way that you could do all that in just one hour. i have watched this show for 4 years and it would disappoint me if all that happened in just one hour, everything will seem rushed. i'm pretty sure many people agree with me. at least i think they should give it 6 more episodes after 4x22. that would be enough for me, but if they were to renew it for a short season it would be 12 episodes just to get it to the 100 episode syndication mark.
If the show ends this season I vote for Emily Van Camp to play the role of Rebekah Mikaelson in her newest body on The Originals or her new to the mythology sister Freya or the new recast for Laurel Lance aka The Black Canary over on Arrow next season. ( being on The Originals could prove challenging as Emily and Joseph ( Klaus ) Morgan were once a couple )
Or David poisons Victoria and as she is dying Emily shows up and realizes her father has also drunk the same poison (murder/suicide). The show ends with Victoria and David dead and Emily finally realizing she wasted x amount of years on revenge and she declares her love for Jack. The end.
But 100 episodes don't really mean much nowadays, especially with syndication at 88 episodes. It's only used for specials and even that's not really as cracked up as it used to be.
100 episodes don't mean much nowadays, even the hyped up David Clarke didn't do much for the series.
Rushed? They've been dragging this series on and on, instead of wasting time on fillers/subplots, they can easily resolve everything in the time they have left.
Too late? They've been dragging everything out, they can and should be able to wrap what little they have going on, there really isn't much seeing as it's down to 1 Grayson left and even then they haven't been doing much.
It's already gotten low 1s and have already sunk to new series twice already and there's more than plenty of time to resolve what little they have going on in the series left.
Van Camp is likely hoping for more film roles post Captain America. She would be crazy to turn down a lead role on a cable series movie career or no movie career, but I doubt she jumps in right away doing 22 episodes on a network TV show.
Sort of leaning towards them winding it up this year. They can accomplish that because we do not need the complete futures for all the players - just what they are pointed towards.
100 episodes don't mean much nowadays, even for tv specials that it's all it's used for. There's a reason why 88 episodes is the one that's accounted for and for full 3 seasons shows to strive for a 4th season. It also hit 2 series lows twice already in the Fall, not taking seasonal drops into account or whatever it gets this Spring let alone for a next possible season. Getting low 1s already isn't very good, if it was mid to high 1s or even in the 2s, there would've been room to milk it, but it's not very good at all. No surprise it doesn't matter at all to you unless it's used as an excuse.
Well maybe the writers do know whether it is going to be cancelled this season. I'd say they're writing episode 16 or 17 right so they've still got plenty of time to wrap things up in a proper way.
NO. This should be the last season. I'm not saying this because I hate Revenge or something but it's complete opposite.
Main storyline is basically over and there are enough episodes (11eps) to cover everything. And so far season 4 is really good I want to end it on high note. I don't want this to be unnecessary dragged.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
I guess it depends how they choose to end season 4.... no cliffhanger, that means lol. But I hope there won't be a season 5, I think this series must come to an end.
ReplyDeleteMaybe - better than no season at all... but I would prefer final full-season :)
ReplyDeleteMmm, in my opinion it depends on the spring ratings and how the current season ends.

You said everything!
ReplyDeleteI honestly think Season 4 should be the end of the series.
ReplyDeleteNo and the writers have 12 episodes to wrap things up, which is perfectly possible. The show has one question to answer and it is: will Emily get her revenge against Victoria?
ReplyDeleteWhat's the argument for a 5th season when ABC has only two dramas getting worse ratings (Forever and Resurrection)?
It's disturbing to see people talking as if they were tv executives, all "ratings this, ratings that".
ReplyDeleteYou're so right. That's for the suits to worry about. Sad is the day when fans of a show have to worry and commentate on viewing statistics instead of on the characters and storylines. ReplyDeleteI think they should end it this season. The writing is beyond average, they turned it into a soap and ruined the good show it was back in the season 1.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't mind if it ended this season. I guess there's still time to end things all right, but if it's necessary a final and short one, fine for me.
ReplyDeleteWhy short?? I think they should come back form another season. 12 episodes are not enough to give the story and the characters a good resolution
ReplyDeleteI voted "yes", I think the show deserves a proper end short or not .
ReplyDeleteI voted yes, it is too late to wrap everything for the season 4 finale I guess unless ABC already warned the production about a possible cancellation. I want a short or full season, number of episodes doesn't matter but I want a proper ending, well-written.

They sure could.
ReplyDeleteEmily and Vicoria in a final battle kill each other and the hatred ends leaving the others to move forward in their lives.
that will just makes the series finale seem rushed. theres no way that you could do all that in just one hour. i have watched this show for 4 years and it would disappoint me if all that happened in just one hour, everything will seem rushed. i'm pretty sure many people agree with me. at least i think they should give it 6 more episodes after 4x22. that would be enough for me, but if they were to renew it for a short season it would be 12 episodes just to get it to the 100 episode syndication mark.

I don't want Emily to be in a CW show :( she should do another strong drama on ABC or CBS
ReplyDeleteOne of Emily's first main series roles was on the WB's ( now he CW ) Everwood for 4 seasons.
ReplyDeleteOr David poisons Victoria and as she is dying Emily shows up and realizes her father has also drunk the same poison (murder/suicide). The show ends with Victoria and David dead and Emily finally realizing she wasted x amount of years on revenge and she declares her love for Jack. The end.
ReplyDeleteOrganically. XD.

ReplyDeleteOf course you'd want that.
ReplyDeleteThey have an entire season to do so, so not enough time is just an excuse.
Then they shouldn't be wasting time on filler and other useless subplots/side characters and quit dragging things out.
ReplyDelete100 episodes don't mean much nowadays, even the hyped up David Clarke didn't do much for the series.
ReplyDeleteRushed? They've been dragging this series on and on, instead of wasting time on fillers/subplots, they can easily resolve everything in the time they have left.
No surprise there.

ReplyDeleteNo surprise there, of course you'd want that.
ReplyDeleteOmg ur here too? Wth your such a stalker
ReplyDeleteToo late? They've been dragging everything out, they can and should be able to wrap what little they have going on, there really isn't much seeing as it's down to 1 Grayson left and even then they haven't been doing much.
ReplyDeleteOf course you did.
ReplyDeleteI'd much rather have her join Agents of SHIELD as Sharon Carter.
ReplyDeleteIt's already gotten low 1s and have already sunk to new series twice already and there's more than plenty of time to resolve what little they have going on in the series left.
ReplyDeleteThey have more than ample time to finish the series this season.

ReplyDeleteWell it is a 'ratings' site and networks execs do that.
ReplyDeleteYeah, until they start clamoring for yet another season, rinse, lather, and repeat.
ReplyDeleteThey have plenty of time to wrap up what little they have going on left. All they've done is unnecessarily dragged out filler subplots.

ReplyDeleteNew schedule? It's been on Sundays since S2. As for a full season, it's already been dragged out long enough especially after David Clarke.
ReplyDeleteGlee is a very good example of what not to do and to end it while it's still above water (*getting low 1s*).
ReplyDeleteOf course you would.
ReplyDeleteOf course you'd say that, but you might want to ignore the ratings and lower the goalpost like the fanatics have been doing.
ReplyDeleteThen it's the writers own fault for doing that.
ReplyDeleteOf course you'd say that.
ReplyDeleteNo, but of course you'd feel that way.
ReplyDeleteLol.
ReplyDeleteAnd you can stay obsessed with me. You're still whining about me, I just checked.
ReplyDeleteShe's moved on from her past shows and she can do it again.
ReplyDeleteyes absolutely
ReplyDeleteWell maybe the writers do know whether it is going to be cancelled this season. I'd say they're writing episode 16 or 17 right so they've still got plenty of time to wrap things up in a proper way.
ReplyDeleteEither short final season or end it here only as I thought their execution of David Clark's storyline the way they did was its death knell.
ReplyDeleteNO. This should be the last season. I'm not saying this because I hate Revenge or something but it's complete opposite.
