I voted for CW renewing BATB because I never expected that at all. Kristin Kreuk has witch powers, I don't know. And voted True Blood's Series Finale because it was ridiculous in my opinion. After everything they've been through, I really expected a different finale. I was so disappointed.
From the list I went with the cancellation of community and True Bloods final season. But the way Fox treated Enlisted will forever be stuck in my memory.
True Blood's series finale was really bad. I am usually never one to hate on series finales that are famously hated (Mother, Dexter) but True Blood was just plain bad. So forced and contrived. Meh.
I still miss Revolution dearly. It really became one of my favorite shows during its sophmore season. I wish they had been that way in Season 1 post the voice, I think it would still be around.
"BATB got renewed for season 3 " Come on get over it ! The CW made it a summer show, only 13 episodes, it will most likely not be renewed so let the few people who adore the show appreciate that and stop this negativety ! This hate is so disgusting and please don't start arguing about the ratings ! The CW doesn't do charity so I guess that they manage to make money out of Beauty and the Beast.Peace !
Yeah this pains me to say but ABC was right in cancelling Revolution, though if they really were willing to go with a full cost production on Fridays they could have easily done Revolution | Grimm | Dateline instead of Constantine, but well, I can understand they saw more upside in Constantine, I can't blame them.
Fox- canceling Almost Human and Enlisted HBO- Everything about True Bloods final season. CBS- Under the Dome for any reason you choose/canceling Reckless. It was a decent summer show. CW- BatB biggest surprise/SPN Bloodlines backdoor pilot TWD- killing Beth, seperating the group
HIMYM finale by far. It made my regret watching the show in the first place. I don't think I would ever watch a rerun of that show; the finale ruined it for me.
That was not a failure. Resurrection helped it a ton early on and the show wasn't doing significantly better at 9pm anyway. Resurrection's failure this fall created a snowball effect that led to Revenge being hurt but moving Revenge per se wasn't a mistake. I accused ABC of making a mistake when doing so but I was wrong.
One thing I don't understand. When it comes to dulena kiss and fanservice you mean it's fail because it's true or it is fail because fans accused them of sth they didn't do?
I didn't watch HIMYM, but I saw online all the disapppointment in almost all the fans. Dexter, OMG, it was horrible!!! I am a huge fan of the show, but that series finale made cursed all the producers and writers of the show. My ideal finale, was something like that season 2 or 3 (I don't remember) when he was sorrounded by people and was cheered by them as if he was a hero or something. I don't know, something like this. Not that crap. And TB was that bad, I agree with you. Sookie fought with many creatures to be with Bill and at the end he made that speech and bla bla bla. Man, please, right?!
▲▬▆ ▆▬▆■▉▬▉▉▉67 I simply g0t paid 8580 operating 0ff My lapt0p this m0nth. And if y0u're thinking that that is cool, my single friend has twin t0ddlers and revamped $9k her 1st month. To be fair, and although it is always much easier to put the blame on the networks when our beloved fail in the ratings, I think ABC's only fault with Revenge was again and again (three years in a row now) forcing it to air in January against the big events. That is a big fail on their part. Other than that, I feel like they've stuck by the show even when the ratings collapsed. They could have easily sent it to 10pm after Season 2 but they even gave it another chance at 9pm for the first half of season 3. And yes, promotion has decreased, but that is normal, since the returns they were getting from the show also decreased. I don't blame them for focusing promotion on TGIT or the Wednesday block instead of Revenge as much as I would like things to be different.
Agreed. Some people have a problem with the small notion Beauty & the Beast possibly making any money!
I think it'll get another 13 episode season after this one, making it 70 episodes and enough for The CW to get it to syndication (despite not being at the magic 88).
I blame FOX much more than I blame people for that one. The ratings never even fell that much (Except for the months later Sunday burn off episodes in the summer with no promotion). People never got a chance to realize it was a gem since they never knew it.
I am one of the few human beings on the planet who adored the Mother finale and thought it was the perfect ending to the show we had been watching for 9 years and that it had been foreshadowed over and over again. I liked the message and I liked how it stayed true to all the characters I loved. I respect people disliking it, but I loved it.
Regarding Dexter, I don't have a major problem with it either. I didn't love it but I didn't it hate it either. I liked the message. Dexter tried to be a human being and not a monster, but once he got in too deep he realized he was even more exposed as a human being than he had ever been as a monster (Deb's death and the effect it had on him) so he had to go away forever and kill his chances of ever becoming a human. I wouldn't have been happy with a finale like the one you are describing as it wouldn't have made justice to the character in my opinion. But it was definitely a metaphoric finale so it was one that up for each one to make his own thing of. I can respect that you made of it something else entirely different that didn't satisfy you. That is the danger with metaphoric finales that leave viewers open to make what they want out of them.
True Blood had no redeeming qualities. I even want to forget it happend I think. Forcing Bill and Sookie down our throats in such a blatant way was bad, dishonoring characters left and right was bad (Tara, Alcide), and then that cemetery scene.. Nhecs.
I will never forgive the HIMYM finale! That was, and still is, one of my all time favorite shows, but I will never watch the ending ever again. The writers always wanted Ted and Robin together....that was their endgame. They knew the fans loved Robin and Barney, so they got them together. But to have the entire final season center around a wedding for a marriage that didn't even last the entire final episode was just cruel. And killing The Mother to have Ted and Robin be able to be together....that might be even more cruel. The series was still amazing, but that was just a bad ending
100% this, I'm not even watching that many comedy shows, but I fell in love with this one, so this is one of those tv-things that I will never forgive.
The CW renewing Beauty and the Beast instead of keeping The Tomorrow People (which was made of awesome) and Revolution being cancelled without a proper ending. I get that the ratings were low for Revolution but I loved it and there is nothing I loathe more than a great show not getting to close out the world in proper fashion. Yes the whole nanite thing went a little overboard, but from what I read the show was headed in an entirely different direction. To this day I'm still upset over both of these shows being cancelled; with huge cliffhangers no less. Sooooo disappointing.
NBC cancelling Community and Revolution (I miss this fun trashy show). But Delena option is incredible stupid and laughable. I don't even ship Delena and I think TVD writing has been horrible since Klaus started drawing ponies but that option reads like a 12 year old bitter fan girl.
CBS forced the CW to renew it because I guess the fans were right about the fact CBS makes money out of it internationally. Also the CW has a deal with Netflix that every single show should have a proper ending. Lately everything seems to indicate syndication isn't as important as the deals they have with Netflix and Hulu.
I agree about TWD. The mid season finale was one of the worst and most forced writing I have ever seen in my life so I quit the show again. Also the bait and switch the writers do all the time was getting incredible boring.
I wasn't sure what MoL was as I obviously don't watch that show so I had to check. I got about 30 minutes into the pilot and stopped watching. That is sooo not my type of show.
I didn't have as much of a problem with it as people had. And I thought the ending episodes were quite strong. I liked the addition of Sam particularly. I think in the middle they got a bit lost but once they had Barbie get back to the outside world and then back in it worked well. I just wish they would kill off Big Jim once and for all, he is one of the worst tv characters I can remember.
I agree. I liked the show very much, it was really funny and had a lot of potential. CBS's public statement that they saw more potential in the millers than fwbl because that one was a family show and this one was a hangout show was one of the worst statements I remember.
Same here. Selfie, Manhattan Love Story (everyone hated it but I really liked it), Apartment 23, The Neighbors, Happy Endings (my heat breaks for this) and of course Suburgatory (this is the one that hurts the most for me).
Why?BatB was stable in ratings without a high rated leadin while TTP had a great leadin but steadily declined all season.BatB was closer to syndication and cheaper to make as it is a international co production( lower international liscening fees, another company helped pay its production costs).BatB sold for three seasons internationally to over 30 markets( & I saw a report somewhere saying 200 markets) while TTzp didn't do as well overseas.Plus BatB had DVD sales,Netflix ,doing well/making money online that TTzp didn't have. Its not all about ratings with CW.Quality or perception of quality of a show has nothing to do renewals/cancellations,
As usual I had no problem with the HIMYM finale. First time I saw it I absolutely flipped out but after considering everything it made a lot of sense. It might not have been the ending I wanted, but I'm still ok with it and I felt the finale worked for what the show was.
Voted for NBC cancelling Community. None of there comedies are successful ratings-wise. Community had tenure and simply should have gotten one more season.
Also voted for BATB getting renewed, not because I have anything against the show, but because they cancelled TTP and let this get renewed. Ridiculous imo.
-FOX letting TBS take American Dad. -NBC cancelling Revolution and FOX cancelling Almost Human, allthough both were probably too expensive. -CW renewing Beauty and the Beast. -ABC placing Mixology after Modern Family to leave Trophy Wife to die. -CBS placing The Millers after The Big Bang Theory, leaving Mom in a weak position. -FOX, who now has three failures on my list, placing Enlisted after the Raising Hope syndication burnoff on Friday. -FOX moving Bob's Burgers to the 7 pm hour to make way for Cosmos. -FOX keeping Mulaney all this time. -NBC keeping Bad Judge and A to Z all this time. -ABC hiring Ludacirs and Kesha as judges on Rising Star.
The writers didn't even wanted Ted and Robin from the beginning as they have stated in the meantime. Quite the contrary they created the show the way that Ted should not end up with Robin but with the Mother instead to distinguish HIMYM from all the other romcoms. But for unknown reasons they changed the finale but didn't changed the course of the show.
I watch Beauty and the Beast but preferred The Tomorrow People. It was a far better show. This poll is all about opinion. Your facts and reasons are not going to change my opinion but thanks for the information.
The HIMYM finale was everything you can think of but not a good ending for the show. There are only two short scenes that could be count a foreshadowing for that ending and that scenes contradict each other in that case. And as the show was created and till the finale also executed as counter model to other romcoms where the main character has to end up with the girl he met during the pilot as the creators of the show stated themselves, the aired ending contradics the hole meaning of the show. For some stupid reasons they changed the finale but didn't changed the course of the show before. They did it in spite of the fact that (as they stated before) they knew the ending would not fit neither with their concept of the show nor the character development.
Who do you even allow these polls. This is probably one of the best ways to promote hate of shows, and to add, people hate shows based on viewing a couple episodes or worse yet none. Spoiler shame on you for putting up such a poll. You should only allow positive polls not this crap. I have stopped voting in ANY of your polls that promote bashing other shows. It's so easy to hide behind the veil of anonymity. Low ratings don't account for anything anymore, especially with more and more viewership coming from online sources. This is the reason the CW renewed ALL of its shows for another season and yes even the ones with very low first season ratings. Why the poll selected only certain shows to be on your poll and not others only reflects the HATE certain people have for those particular shows. JTV has about the LOWEST ratings any first season show I have ever seen (and I watch this show) yet it got renewed, why, because the main protagonist won a golden globe, certainly it's not because of it's ratings. For those who like to bash other people's show , allI can say is good luck to you if you find a show you happen to love and people start putting it down.
I'm curious! I voted for NBC cancelling "Community". I'm pretty sure the people who run that network do so while perpetually drunk-their decision making processes over the last few years have really left me scratching my head.
Wow you're rude.Whyd you vote BatB renewal if you know it's making money but TTP wasn't/wouldn't and if you know quality has nothing to with renewals/cancellation?Im glad you're not in charge of a network-you'd renew shows you like that don't make money over ones that don't.I was simply explaing WHY Batzb was renewed over TTzp since some people don't know/understand the non factors involved.
I wholeheartedly believe the network had something to do with Jeanne Tripplehorn leaving. So, that's the biggest fail to me. Probably not to the majority of people, but to me. And I'm really not sold on Kate. I tried, I really did. But the writing of her character is bad imo. And I'm not keen on JLH either, but I blame the writing first. Season 10 compared to Season 9 is a lot worse. So, yeah.
LOL, hey, that's what this comment section's for, right? Share away! I'd had a feeling that was your pick :). I'd wondered about the possibility of Blake being forced out, too (especially given how negatively the fandom responded to her), when she left, but then I heard someone say later on that it was her choice, too, that she wanted to do other things. I'm hoping the latter option is the truth, 'cause I'd hate to think CBS is being a bunch of idiots again or the fandom was so nasty to her that she felt she had to leave (or was made to leave). Wonder if we'll ever know. I like Kate, as I've noted before, but I can understand where she's not everyone's cup of tea, either, and I definitely think a large part of it has to do with how people feel about JLH to begin with as well (I've always liked her, myself-teenage nostalgia and whatnot :p). I know you've tried, and I know that just as every team member has their fans, they'll inevitably have those who don't care for them, either, so looks like Kate will be the latest one to go through that. I've liked season 10 so far, but between this season and last, I would pick season 9 as my favorite of the two. I think there was a nice overarching storyline that season with all the stuff with JJ, and some really good individual episodes in it, too. And since Blake had had season 8 to settle in the show didn't have to focus as much on trying to fit her into the team and that freed them up a bit storywise elsewhere, too. Hopefully as the rest of this season goes on they can make it more interesting for you :)!
Same here, I followed it closely for 5 years because I thought the overall plot was interesting and unique, the cast was amazing etc. It counted easily towards my all time favorites, up there with BSG, GoT, The Shield and Scrubs. And then this one unbelievably botched episode came along... Now I switch the channel in disgust when I find it somewhere on TV.
Biggest tv fail of 2014, and of all time (that I am aware of) is the HIMYM finale.
I guess the showrunners do believe in what they write for Ted. They seem to like Ted, and think he (people like him) is the symbol of romance and greatness. For people, who believe that, the ending most likely was acceptable. for others, like myself, it made the character (Ted) even less likable he was before. Nothing on tv makes less sense than Ted and his "9-year-long telling of love story".
They most likely knew it was a mistake to write/keep an ending fitting for s1-s2, when they had also written seasons 3-9 after that, but they seem to believe in making mistakes. As they had Ted say in s1: "Yes it's a mistake. I know it's a mistake, but there are certain things in life where you know it's a mistake but you don't really know it's a mistake because the only way to really know it's a mistake is to make the mistake and look back and say "Yep, that was a mistake."" I believe this is what they thought when sticking to their original ending. What I do not understand is why they did not use a test-audience for their chosen ending and avoid the mistake.
The only way they could have pulled the ending off if they intended to keep the originally filmed footage was if they had filmed a few different versions with the kids, and used newly filmed/recorded voice-over with Ted reacting more accordingly to fit the story in s9... and made Ted move on after The Mothers death with someone completely new (not any of his old girlfriends, none of whom were actually a good match for him, especially Robin, who was completely wrong for Ted, and the show made it clear to both the characters so many times. Yet for me the ending meant that neither of the characters had learned anything or grown at all, and they were destined to get back together once more to once again remember why they are not compatible.). And written better, and more "satisfying" endings for Marshall, Lily, Marshall/Lily, Barney, Robin, Barney/Robin.
Other tv fail in 2014 for me was the cancellation of "Community". Luckily we are still getting season 6 (soon).
Another, I hate BatB User Submitted Poll, what else is new. I'm getting tired of these and most of all getting tired of people attacking one of my fav. shows. I don't attack other people's shows, and I think everyone should be respectful of other shows regardless. Thanks Spoiler, you must be desperate for polls and while you're at it, let's keep the hate alive by propagating it
I hear you on SC, I loved uniqueness and romance, but nobody wants to see this on tv anymore. Just bold and gore. I have stuck with BatB and don't regret it for one moment, I don't care what anybody says
I really liked Star Crossed and was bummed that it didn't get picked up for a second season. Nice to know I'm not the only one. As for Beauty and the Beast, I am a huge Kristin Kreuk fan and that's the only reason I've stuck with the show. I'm hoping that the upcoming season will be better than the last.
Exactly the same. Star-Crossed was way more than a love-story, and the finale exploded into full sci-fi territory leaving us fans with many cliffhangers. I love Kristin Kreuk too. My favourite episodes of BATB so far were the latter half of season one, when Alex (Vincent's ex) was introduced. Then, the Muirfield story heated up and everything just got better. I haven't seen season 2 yet, but the DVD arrives in the UK on March 2015. Can you tell me what the quality of that was like without spoilers? :)
The first season of BATB was awesome, in my opinion. The second season just wasn't the same. How to put this without spoilers. Hmmm. Vincent is VERY different when things pickup and Gabe really takes advantage of the situation in more ways than one. Other than that, people are pushed together that have zero chemistry and things went in a direction that felt forced. You may feel differently when you watch it but at the time I was disappointed that it got picked up because that meant my favorite new show of the season (The Tomorrow People) didn't.
As a US viewer I have to say that I'm beyond pissed that HEX season two was never released here. I'm not sure if you watched the show but it's one of my all-time favorites. I watched it years ago on BBC America and again when the first season was released here. I managed to get a boxset of season two from the UK but it won't play here. I think I'm gonna have to invest in a region wide DVD player in order to get my fix.
Out of curiosity, are you a Smallville fan? That is where I discovered Kristin Kreuk and it's one of my favorites as well. If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it as well as the aforementioned HEX.
Season 1 was generally great, i was just stating when I thought the pace really went up the latter half of the season for me. I loved the 'Pilot' though, the atmosphere, everything. Ok, I think you put that nicely, thanks :)
I heard of Hex but It was only on Sky here, so I didn't see it. I need one of those region Dvd players, don't worry. I like to buy the DVD of every series I watch and not all of them are released. I know it's strange and somewhat OCD but yeah.
I haven't seen Smallville but my friend goes on about it all the time, that's where they found their love of Kristin too :) Funnily enough, I saw her on a few movies the Snow white of 2001 and some Ninja film. But, BATB is where i grew attached to her as an actor. Thanks for your recommendations. What are your favourite series of all-time, say Top 5? I'm intrigued. :)
I have a big DVD boxset collection. I've been adding to it for years. I have access to most shows via Netflix but I have to have them so I totally get it. :-) My top five series are Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Battlestar Galactica, Supernatural, Orphan Black, and Fringe. What are yours?
I have Netflix too, but I like to have the DVD too. It costs me a lot of money but oh well. Just the other day, Being human (Us) First two seasons, Helix, The O.C. (Complete box-came in a blue treasure chest style packaging which was so awesome), and Nikita full-box arrived.
I don't know why i asked you, because I find those questions really tough. I'd go with Medium, The Walking Dead, Miranda (UK comedy), Revenge, 90210, SVU, The 100, Knights of Sidonia (anime series), Big Bang Theory (early seasons), CSI, Tru Calling. Sorry, i couldn't quite get the five :)
I read The 100 books and am eagerly awaiting Homecoming which releases here next month. Though the books are quite different than the show I love them both. I'm glad that they finally got a real intro and that Ricky Whittle was bumped up to series regular. He is awesome as Lincoln. I'm not sure how far behind us you are but this week's episode was amazing.
I'm also a Patricia Arquette fan. She starred in two of my favorite horror films and I loved what I saw of Medium. Unfortunately it came on when other shows did and got pushed aside. It's on my list of shows to revisit. I plan on watching CSI: Cyber even thought I don't watch the other CSI shows.
The first season of Bitten was just about werewolves. Elena is the only female wolf ever and there's a lot of drama surrounding that. There's also a lot of hot, naked werewolf ass if you're into that sorta thing (which I totally am). The casting is perfection and the show is great. I haven't read the books yet but from the previews it appears that witches are being introduced in the second season. I'm looking forward to that. Hopefully you'll get a chance to see it sometime soon.
I would love to see Eliza Dushku back on TV in something worthy of her talent. I was bummed that both Dollhouse and Tru Calling never got the recognition that they deserved.
They are very different. But, Kass Morgan's writing is superb. I started The 100 book series (now half-way through on Day 21), after reading Stephen King's Under the Dome - I thought I'd give it ago, as i watch the series, another thing i have, if there's a book a TV show I like is based on i will read it usually - and I prefer The 100 by far. Under The Dome was all over the place, just like the second season. But, I still persist and enjoy it.
Wow, I'm so pleased to hear your a fan. Medium is my favourite series of all-time so I suggest it strongly. The gift of a psychic isn't exploited in any way, and the series is fast-paced but also has heart-warming family moments. I watch Ghost Whisperer too, and say Medium does it so much better. Though I love Jennifer love Hewitt for many reasons, if you know what i mean. GW seems too sentimental at times though. Medium's Season 3 finale is a game changer when [Spoiler] is revealed. I see, I'm happy you are giving Cyber a go. I want to watch the film Boyhood that Arquette has just starred in. She seems really nice in real life too. CSI is great, but Gil Grissom's seasons rock so much more. I admit I haven't seen every episode yet but with my DVD hunt, I intend to.
Hahaha, Being Human includes a lot of risqué stuff (in my view), I guess we'll see when I see. I'd be more interested in Elena, ahaha. If that's the blondes name from the cast photos???
I could've listed a lot more than five but those were my all-time favorites. Nikita is actually on my list of shows to buy. I watched it when it aired and have been wanting to do a rewatch. Instead of going the Netflix route, I was waiting to buy the complete series but haven't had the money to buy it yet. I also love The Walking Dead, Tru Calling, and Revenge. The 100 is my current favorite. Well that Bitten, and Orphan Black. They are (in my opinion) the best shows on TV right now. The 100 is so insanely awesome and each week it just gets better-and-better. Do you have access to Bitten there? It's a Canadian show but it's imported here through Syfy. I love it. Also, if you like Eliza Dushku from Tru Calling, did you like Dollhouse? It's another one of my favorites.
Hahaha, so could I tbf. Nikita is amazing, i watched that back-to-back with Revenge all the time :) Two women out for a vengeance. Maggie Q and Emily Van Camp are so great. Yes, I had saved a lot of money. Bt, Nikita's four seasons box set was only £28 (UK), and the first season of Helix was just £8. I had to buy. i just had to.
Omg, Tru Calling was so amazing :) Season 1 finale - with the ending song, when you find out more about the mythology, season 2 just accelerated at every level and made TC one of my favourite ever series. I love Eliza Dushku for that role. I wanted season 3 so badly, because there was so many unanswered questions. The introduction of Jack made it very interesting too. And the theme song was just great. It started off as a case-off-the-week, but it just grew and grew.
The Walking Dead, wow, before that I thought how can they make a tv show about zombies? Boy was I wrong. I love that show. Revenge I love as I already said, i don't care if David coming back somewhat ruins the premise It has not for me. Your so right, The 100 gets better and better each week. I love they introduced a theme song now, which is very futuristic. I'm reading the second book now, as well as watching the second season, and just incredible. I can't wait for more. It's one of my favourite series just recently. I was very interested in Bitten a few months back but no one has picked it up in the UK, and there is no UK region DVD release so I don't know when I will get to see it. it looked good from the promo i watched. Is it similar to Being Human USA, I like that a lot. Again, Dollhouse is on my ever-expanding list. I want Eliza Dushku on TV again, but at least Patricia Arquette (of my favourite ever tv series, Medium) returns in CSI: Cyber. My tv show viewing has gotten more sci-fi lately I think. I've started watching Point Pleasant, from 2005.
I haven't read the Under the Dome books but I do watch the show. The ratings weren't very good during the second season and I was a bit surprised it got picked up for a third. That said, I'm glad. I enjoy it as it's very different than anything else on.
As for Bitten, it's a bit risqué at time but very enjoyable. You'll be happy to know that Laura Vandervoort (who played Kara Kent on Smallville BTW) also has semi scenes. She is a beautiful woman and perfect for the role. I'm all about girl power and she has a second degree blackbelt and does most of her own stunts. I find that impressive.
Are you a avid reader or just books that your shows are based on? I ask because I'm a huge bookworm. My drug of choice these days are audiobooks because I can listen to them at work. A total win-win for me. It was nice chatting with you, too. My name is Melanie, but most just call me Mel.
I didn't think it would get a third season either, and I am glad. I would like to see some more focus in season three however. But, i enjoy the show. No, I didn't know it was based on that! I'll have to look more into it. Thanks.
Hahaha, you are really selling Bitten to me. I might have to try and download it.
I only read books my tv shows are based on atm, because I only got into reading again a little while back. Any you'd recommend that are similar to The 100? I have read The Walking Dead series (up to Descent), The 100 (at Day 21), Revenge Secret Origins of Emily Thorne, Under The Dome, and I intend to read The Strain books, Hemlock Grove and Pretty Little Liars. I started recently watching those three :) Awesome, be seeing you around, Mel.
Dude that was three years ago. I love the show (might be my favourite) though. But I really liked the ending so I'm cool with it (well it's still messed up what Quinn did but you know what I mean).
They changed the ending, but could not change the course of the show. As their ending was the exact opposite of the original planned ending, they should never gone that route.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
CW renewing Beauty... and NBC cancelling Revolution (nope, still not over it)
ReplyDeleteHow I met Your Mother's Series Finale and CW renewing BATB(I mean who expected except its fans that it would be renewed)
ReplyDeleteI liked Revolution but it had low ratings and it probably was expensive for NBC.
ReplyDeleteNbc cancels Community... and Revolution! #StupidBastards
ReplyDeleteI voted for CW renewing BATB because I never expected that at all. Kristin Kreuk has witch powers, I don't know. And voted True Blood's Series Finale because it was ridiculous in my opinion. After everything they've been through, I really expected a different finale. I was so disappointed.
ReplyDeleteBatB renewal and UtD's second season.
ReplyDeleteFox cancelling Enlisted, ABC cancelling Selfie.
ReplyDeleteMy heart still hasn't recovered from the cancellation of Enlisted.
ReplyDeleteFrom the list I went with the cancellation of community and True Bloods final season. But the way Fox treated Enlisted will forever be stuck in my memory.
ReplyDeleteSame and what annoys me so much is that they never gave it a chance in another slot and messed with the episode ordering.
ReplyDeleteTrue Blood's series finale was really bad. I am usually never one to hate on series finales that are famously hated (Mother, Dexter) but True Blood was just plain bad. So forced and contrived. Meh.
ReplyDeleteI still miss Revolution dearly. It really became one of my favorite shows during its sophmore season. I wish they had been that way in Season 1 post the voice, I think it would still be around.
ReplyDelete"BATB got renewed for season 3 " Come on get over it !
ReplyDeleteYeah this pains me to say but ABC was right in cancelling Revolution, though if they really were willing to go with a full cost production on Fridays they could have easily done Revolution | Grimm | Dateline instead of Constantine, but well, I can understand they saw more upside in Constantine, I can't blame them.
ReplyDeleteRevenge being moved to 10 on sunday
ReplyDeleteAll of the above.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to say the HIMYM series finale and UtD's second season, which was so boring that I stooped watching after 3 episodes.
ReplyDeleteI think the fail was the way FOX scheduled it. With those ratings, the cancellation was inevitable.
ReplyDeleteFox- canceling Almost Human and Enlisted
ReplyDeleteHBO- Everything about True Bloods final season.
CBS- Under the Dome for any reason you choose/canceling Reckless. It was a decent summer show.
CW- BatB biggest surprise/SPN Bloodlines backdoor pilot
TWD- killing Beth, seperating the group
Great list
ReplyDeleteBeth, Sara and Suburgatory especially :(
HIMYM finale by far. It made my regret watching the show in the first place. I don't think I would ever watch a rerun of that show; the finale ruined it for me.
ReplyDeleteFox cancelling surviving jack and Neccesary roughness:)
ReplyDeleteWitches of East End got cancelled...:(
ReplyDeleteThat was not a failure.
ReplyDeleteNBC cancels Revolution...
ReplyDeleteI don't watch the show but I agree with this.
ReplyDeleteThanks! ;) My poor poor Suburgatory.. Most underrated comedy (in a tie with About a Boy, another one about to be axed)
ReplyDeleteI agree
ReplyDeleteTrue! But abc underpromoting revenge
ReplyDeleteRevenge and the 100 being underpromoted
ReplyDeleteNBC cancelling Revolution!!!
ReplyDeleteOne thing I don't understand. When it comes to dulena kiss and fanservice you mean it's fail because it's true or it is fail because fans accused them of sth they didn't do?
ReplyDeleteI didn't watch HIMYM, but I saw online all the disapppointment in almost all the fans.
ReplyDelete▲▬▆ ▆▬▆■▉▬▉▉▉67 I simply g0t paid 8580 operating 0ff My lapt0p this m0nth. And if y0u're thinking that that is cool, my single friend has twin t0ddlers and revamped $9k her 1st month. It feels thus sensible creating a l0t of|such a lot|most} cash once others need to Work for thus much less. this is often what I do,..........
ReplyDeleteTo be fair, and although it is always much easier to put the blame on the networks when our beloved fail in the ratings, I think ABC's only fault with Revenge was again and again (three years in a row now) forcing it to air in January against the big events.
ReplyDeleteOne word: Mulaney.
ReplyDeleteFor me CBS has the perfect schedule among all the other networks. ABC and CW come next in my opinion and FOX and NBC come last. IMO
ReplyDeleteSPN backdoor pilot
ReplyDeleteI had forgotten about that one!
ReplyDeleteAgreed. Some people have a problem with the small notion Beauty & the Beast possibly making any money!
ReplyDeleteI think it'll get another 13 episode season after this one, making it 70 episodes and enough for The CW to get it to syndication (despite not being at the magic 88).
FOX throwing Enlisted under the bus for non-sense reasons in favor of that stupid unnecessary show, Dads.
ReplyDeleteOther - people not realizing what a comedy gem Enlisted was, resulting in terrible ratings and cancellation.
ReplyDeleteSupernatural: Bloodlines, NBC cancelling Community, CW renewing Beauty & A&E cancelling Longmire.
ReplyDeleteEnlisted's cancellation is my biggest TV fail of 2014 as well.
ReplyDeleteI blame FOX much more than I blame people for that one. The ratings never even fell that much (Except for the months later Sunday burn off episodes in the summer with no promotion). People never got a chance to realize it was a gem since they never knew it.
ReplyDeleteLast season ABC and FOX were a tie for last IMO, but this year I think ABC is by far the best.
ReplyDeleteRevolution being canceled, not to mention Miles just had to hook up with my worst favorite character Rachel. *blec*
ReplyDeleteI am one of the few human beings on the planet who adored the Mother finale and thought it was the perfect ending to the show we had been watching for 9 years and that it had been foreshadowed over and over again. I liked the message and I liked how it stayed true to all the characters I loved. I respect people disliking it, but I loved it.
ReplyDeleteRegarding Dexter, I don't have a major problem with it either.
ReplyDelete100% this, I'm not even watching that many comedy shows, but I fell in love with this one, so this is one of those tv-things that I will never forgive.
ReplyDeleteand CW cancelled TTP too. :( but I voted for HIMYM because that was a huge fail too.
ReplyDeleteAll of the storylines on Superantural but esp The Spin-off attempt and Demon Dean. Carver is justone big Fail.
ReplyDeleteboth had low ratings
ReplyDeleteSelfie defo deserved to be cancelled
Enlisted can at least be blamed on the scheduling
The CW renewing Beauty and the Beast instead of keeping The Tomorrow People (which was made of awesome) and Revolution being cancelled without a proper ending. I get that the ratings were low for Revolution but I loved it and there is nothing I loathe more than a great show not getting to close out the world in proper fashion. Yes the whole nanite thing went a little overboard, but from what I read the show was headed in an entirely different direction. To this day I'm still upset over both of these shows being cancelled; with huge cliffhangers no less. Sooooo disappointing.
ReplyDeleteNBC cancelling Community and Revolution (I miss this fun trashy show).
ReplyDeleteBut Delena option is incredible stupid and laughable. I don't even ship Delena and I think TVD writing has been horrible since Klaus started drawing ponies but that option reads like a 12 year old bitter fan girl.
CBS forced the CW to renew BATB. Still I think it was a really stupid decision.
ReplyDeleteCBS forced the CW to renew it because I guess the fans were right about the fact CBS makes money out of it internationally. Also the CW has a deal with Netflix that every single show should have a proper ending. Lately everything seems to indicate syndication isn't as important as the deals they have with Netflix and Hulu.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely, they just seem to give up on it before it began despite the very positive pre air buzz.
ReplyDeleteYeah I'm just sad about Selfie and ABC's track record with cancelling comedies I like just makes me bitter.
ReplyDeleteI agree about TWD. The mid season finale was one of the worst and most forced writing I have ever seen in my life so I quit the show again. Also the bait and switch the writers do all the time was getting incredible boring.
ReplyDeleteI just miss Selfie a whole lot hut yeah I can see why it was cancelled. Enlisted deserved better though.
ReplyDeleteSo glad to see UTD's second season on the list. So I'm not the only one who said, "What the heck WAS that?"
ReplyDeleteThe funny thing is that MoL is doing worse than Revolution S2 and its in its first season so NBC fail.
ReplyDeleteThe True Blood finale sucked, and CW renewing Beauty and canceling Tomorrow People was a bad move.
ReplyDeleteI wasn't sure what MoL was as I obviously don't watch that show so I had to check. I got about 30 minutes into the pilot and stopped watching. That is sooo not my type of show.
ReplyDeleteI'm over HIMYM but it still hurts not as much anymore but still. Community, but glad we're getting one more season cause I still like that show.
ReplyDeleteFriends With Better Lives was a great show it should've stayed and gave it a better time slot.
ReplyDeleteI didn't have as much of a problem with it as people had.
ReplyDeleteI agree. I liked the show very much, it was really funny and had a lot of potential. CBS's public statement that they saw more potential in the millers than fwbl because that one was a family show and this one was a hangout show was one of the worst statements I remember.
ReplyDeleteSame here. Selfie, Manhattan Love Story (everyone hated it but I really liked it), Apartment 23, The Neighbors, Happy Endings (my heat breaks for this) and of course Suburgatory (this is the one that hurts the most for me).
ReplyDeleteThe cancellation of Revolution and Longmire (even tho Longmire was later picked up by Netflix)...Also renewing BaTB.
ReplyDeleteI don't know how I forgot about that bonehead decision by A&E to cancel Longmire, until I read it in the comments below. Thank you Netflix.
ReplyDeleteNBC cancelling Community and CW renewing Beauty..
ReplyDeleteCanceling Enlisted and Benched. Neither one ever had a chance to find its audience.
ReplyDeleteThe rain kiss was one of the best scenes Damon and Elena ever did, and I am not even e Delena fan. Pure happiness!
ReplyDeleteIt wasn´t a series low for TVD, it rated lower in 5x21, let´s see if you get the info right.
ReplyDeleteI voted for the HIMYM series finale, which was AWFUL
Why?BatB was stable in ratings without a high rated leadin while TTP had a great leadin but steadily declined all season.BatB was closer to syndication and cheaper to make as it is a international co production( lower international liscening fees, another company helped pay its production costs).BatB sold for three seasons internationally to over 30 markets( & I saw a report somewhere saying 200 markets) while TTzp didn't do as well overseas.Plus BatB had DVD sales,Netflix ,doing well/making money online that TTzp didn't have. Its not all about ratings with CW.Quality or perception of quality of a show has nothing to do renewals/cancellations,
ReplyDeleteThe HIMYM series finale. No contest.
ReplyDeleteAs usual I had no problem with the HIMYM finale. First time I saw it I absolutely flipped out but after considering everything it made a lot of sense. It might not have been the ending I wanted, but I'm still ok with it and I felt the finale worked for what the show was.
ReplyDeleteVoted for NBC cancelling Community. None of there comedies are successful ratings-wise. Community had tenure and simply should have gotten one more season.
Also voted for BATB getting renewed, not because I have anything against the show, but because they cancelled TTP and let this get renewed. Ridiculous imo.
HIMYM finale, a lot of other stuff might be bad, but the show was named one way and it ended completely different.
ReplyDeleteHow I Met your Mother finale and NBC's cancellation of Revolution.
ReplyDeleteThe fails of 2014
ReplyDelete-FOX letting TBS take American Dad.
If I think of others I'll edit this post.
ReplyDeleteI watch Beauty and the Beast but preferred The Tomorrow People. It was a far better show. This poll is all about opinion. Your facts and reasons are not going to change my opinion but thanks for the information.
ReplyDeleteThe HIMYM finale was everything you can think of but not a good ending for the show.
ReplyDeleteThe HIMYM failnale without any doubt!
ReplyDeleteI'm not a Delena fan. I stopped shipping anything in TVD a long time ago but that comment is so petty and stupid.
ReplyDeleteI'm torn between NBC canceling Community and HIMYM's series finale, so I voted for both.
ReplyDeleteRight. Big Jim was evil personified. Then he was an okay guy. Then he was just plain stupid. Dean Norris deserves a better role.
ReplyDeleteBatB renewal,Community cancellation & TVD Delena fan-servicing.
ReplyDeleteWho do you even allow these polls. This is probably one of the best ways to promote hate of shows, and to add, people hate shows based on viewing a couple episodes or worse yet none.
ReplyDeleteSpoiler shame on you for putting up such a poll.
Oh, there's something I really want to say about Criminal Minds, but I won't say it.
ReplyDeleteI'll never get over Perception cancellation as well :(. I'll hate the new director forever. My fav show ever gone... :/ :'(
ReplyDeleteI'm curious!
ReplyDeleteI voted for NBC cancelling "Community".
ReplyDeleteI wholeheartedly believe the network had something to do with Jeanne Tripplehorn leaving. So, yeah.
ReplyDeleteOther: Fox cancels Almost Human. Still bitter.
ReplyDeleteLOL, hey, that's what this comment section's for, right? Share away!
ReplyDeleteI'd had a feeling that was your pick :).
The had the ending planned since season 2.
ReplyDeleteI haven't watched a single rerun since the finale. If I see one airing on TV, I quickly change the channel.
ReplyDeleteMe too and I really hate that. I used to love the show so much.
ReplyDeleteSame here, I followed it closely for 5 years because I thought the overall plot was interesting and unique, the cast was amazing etc. It counted easily towards my all time favorites, up there with BSG, GoT, The Shield and Scrubs. And then this one unbelievably botched episode came along... Now I switch the channel in disgust when I find it somewhere on TV.
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing how two episodes can ruin the other 206!!
ReplyDeleteBiggest tv fail of 2014, and of all time (that I am aware of) is the HIMYM finale.
ReplyDeleteI guess the showrunners do believe in what they write for Ted.
I know it's a mistake, but there are certain things in life where you know it's a mistake but you don't really know it's a mistake because the only way to really know it's a mistake is to make the mistake and look back and say "Yep, that was a mistake.""
I believe this is what they thought when sticking to their original ending.
TNT cancelling Dallas and Franklin & Bash
ReplyDeleteOther - Lifetime cancelling Witches of East End
ReplyDeleteOther - TNT cancelling Dallas
I wanted Star-Crossed to make it so bad, but I got the best and most surprising news when Beauty and the Beast was renewed.
ReplyDeleteI can tell that BATB season four renewal will be the April fools joke for many, but it will actually come true.
Another, I hate BatB User Submitted Poll, what else is new. I'm getting tired of these and most of all getting tired of people attacking one of my fav. shows. I don't attack other people's shows, and I think everyone should be respectful of other shows regardless. Thanks Spoiler, you must be desperate for polls and while you're at it, let's keep the hate alive by propagating it
ReplyDeleteI hear you on SC, I loved uniqueness and romance, but nobody wants to see this on tv anymore. Just bold and gore. I have stuck with BatB and don't regret it for one moment, I don't care what anybody says
ReplyDeleteDefinitely agree!
ReplyDeleteWhile it was a big fail IMO..... it wasn't 2014!
ReplyDeleteHave to agree with Emma too.....
ReplyDeleteCancelling Almost Human
I really liked Star Crossed and was bummed that it didn't get picked up for a second season. Nice to know I'm not the only one. As for Beauty and the Beast, I am a huge Kristin Kreuk fan and that's the only reason I've stuck with the show. I'm hoping that the upcoming season will be better than the last.
ReplyDeleteExactly the same. :)
ReplyDeleteThe first season of BATB was awesome, in my opinion.
ReplyDeleteAs a US viewer I have to say that I'm beyond pissed that HEX season two was never released here.
ReplyDeleteI heard of Hex but It was only on Sky here, so I didn't see it.
ReplyDeleteI have Netflix too, but I like to have the DVD too. It costs me a lot of money but oh well. Just the other day, Being human (Us) First two seasons, Helix, The O.C. (Complete box-came in a blue treasure chest style packaging which was so awesome), and Nikita full-box arrived.
ReplyDeleteI don't know why i asked you, because I find those questions really tough. I'd go with
Medium, The Walking Dead, Miranda (UK comedy), Revenge, 90210, SVU,
The 100, Knights of Sidonia (anime series), Big Bang Theory (early seasons), CSI, Tru Calling.
ReplyDeleteI'm also a Patricia Arquette fan.
ReplyDeleteWow, I'm so pleased to hear your a fan.
I agree. I will definitely try Dollhouse.
ReplyDeleteHahaha, so could I tbf.
ReplyDeleteOmg, Tru Calling was so amazing :) Season 1 finale - with the ending song, when you find out more about the mythology, season 2 just accelerated at every level and made TC one of my favourite ever series.
ReplyDeleteAs for Bitten, it's a bit risqué at time but very enjoyable.
Thanks.
ReplyDeleteHahaha, you are really selling Bitten to me.
No, final episode aired 27 Jan. 2012. It started in 2007 and went for 5 (or 4.5) seasons.
ReplyDeleteDude that was three years ago. I love the show (might be my favourite) though. But I really liked the ending so I'm cool with it (well it's still messed up what Quinn did but you know what I mean).
ReplyDeleteI heard they're considering moving it to Syfy as Hellblazer (same cast) and making it darker and more free creatively.
ReplyDeleteLoved the HIMYM finale and haven't seen any of the other shows, so can't really vote on this!
ReplyDeleteThey changed the ending, but could not change the course of the show. As their ending was the exact opposite of the original planned ending, they should never gone that route.
