KYLE MACLACHLAN RETURNS TO TWIN PEAKS
Golden Globe winner and Emmy Award nominee Kyle MacLachlan will reprise his role as FBI Agent Dale Cooper when the critically-acclaimed, ground breaking television phenomenon TWIN PEAKS returns as a new limited series on SHOWTIME. Series creators and executive producers David Lynch and Mark Frost are on board to write and produce all nine episodes of the limited series. Four-time Oscar nominee David Lynch will direct every episode. TWIN PEAKS will go into production in 2015 to air on the network in 2016, marking the 25th anniversary of when the program last aired. Set in the present day, TWIN PEAKS will continue the lore of the original series, providing long-awaited answers for the series’ passionate fan base.
As the star of TWIN PEAKS, MacLachlan received two Emmy nominations and a Golden Globe Award. MacLachlan other television credits include The Good Wife, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Sex and The City, Desperate Housewives, Believe, How I Met Your Mother, Portlandia, In Justice and Law and Order: Special Victims Unit. MacLachlan made his feature film debut in 1984 in the futuristic drama Dune, directed by David Lynch. This was followed by his second collaboration with Lynch in 1986 in Blue Velvet. His other feature film credits include Mao’s Last Dancer, The Doors, Breathe In, Peace, Love and Misunderstanding, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2 Hamlet, Timecode, One Night Stand, The Trigger Effect, The Flinstones, The Trial and the cult classic Showgirls. MacLachlan made his directorial debut in 1993 with an episode of the darkly comic hit series Tales from the Crypt.

I still need to check out the original show, especially considering how much I love Kyle. And guessing this means he won't be on SHIELD for much longer.

ReplyDeleteYes! Loved him as Coop..of course his character will be older now but still hopefully at the end he'll be free from the black lodge and kicking butt and taking names!
ReplyDeleteI would've been surprised in McLachlan didn't return. He's always been very passionate about this show, and he's pretty much David Lynch's go-to actor. I took it as a given that McLachlan would return as soon as it was announced that Showtime was reviving Twin Peaks. Although it's very nice to be reassured.

ReplyDeleteConcerning Shield, not necessarily since this is a limited run show and the Shield writers love his character so much. They may just write him off for awhile or depending on when they shoot this it could be during the summer.
ReplyDeleteI'm just surprised they have to anounce it because for me there's simply no Twin Peaks without Agent Cooper! I didn't even think it was possible that Kyle MacLachlan wasn't on board yet.
