    The said thing is that Stefan and Caroline, probably the healthiest relationship this show has ever had, is being seen as forced when it's taken longer to get them together than every other couple on the show, while Damon and Elena, the most toxic relationship on modern television, includes multiple murder attempts, and the actual murder of her brother, and is seen as hot and not forced at all.


    Sometimes I worry about this fandom.

    The sire bond didn't make anything happen. It's two seasons later and the two characters in question are still feeling things out. Not all things are plotted out before hand. Just like on any show, storylines and characters evolve and change directions over time. There's nothing artificial about it. It's perfectly normal.

    Well no shit. Difference is using a "sire bond" to make a relationship happen. They realized that Elena openly dating Damon would make little sense without serious character gymnastics and plot ass pull. This came from the main writer's mouth. It's forced. The entire thing about them was his feelings for her controlled her actions. That's forced Bruce.

    so having almost every character harp on how they should date, killing her mom so she can tell him to take care of caroline on her deathbed, the snowglobe making appearanes whenever liz and caroline talk etc yeah its all organic and well stefans hero complex can come out to play taking care of overly emotional caroline what better way to start up a relationship. Ive seen light so Aydrian no need to worry any further your far superior and not at all condecending preaching as made me see it your way

    I liked the Stefan/Caroline relationship better in S5. I'm okay with them being friends or more than friends (because yes, i think they have chemistry), but i'm not feeling this chemistry this season tho. I'm just afraid that in the moment this will be turn in a romantic relationship, Plec will destroy them like she did with every other relationship in this show.

    I think Elena/Damon are forced. As for Caroline/Stefan I think they should have stayed just friends. It is not really forced but I feel like their relationship changed just because they felt they needed to find someone for Stefan. I don't see the chemistry. I always saw them in the same light as the friendship Stefan had with Lexi.

    The do take some of their ideas from the novels you know. The sire bond wasn't exactly something they pulled out of nowhere. Something similar to sire bond happened between Damon and Elena in the books too. They adopted the idea like they did with lots of others.
    The development with Damon and Elena has been frustrating but they're not as forced as the people claim them to be. The fact that every friggin' storyline is somehow tied to them does make them forced (which happens with main couples. like Stelena) but the two of them getting together on itself wasn't anything forced and rushed. The one true forced pairing in any sense was Klaroline though. -_-

    I have so many questions now! Is this a dream?? It's probably a dream. If it is, is it her dream? Or his dream?? If it's real, what are they talking about? Did he get close to her or did she get close to him? Did he just save her from some attack? Is he cracking a joke? Why did they leave the cabin? Was is to take a walk? Did they need some air? Did they go an errand? Is she about to kiss him or is he about to kiss her? He's smiling, was this before the kiss? Was this after the kiss? WILL there be a kiss? Will they get interrupted? Oh god they'll probably get interrupted. If they do will they try again later? They probably won't have time. BUT if they do, will they kiss again?? Is he asking her on a date? To "see how it goes"??     on one hand im dyin to see these 2 as a couple but on the other the relationships on this show well there unrealistic extremely toxic and so fake it hurts the cast has great chem but the writers come on i ll stil talk to this person who killed my brother or my best friend so pleasee dont do it then again it might give me a reason to watch this show again im torn i ll decide in 2 more seasons lol

I also don't see the writers doing that. Building them up for all these years, and when they finally have their first kiss (the first of many I hope) Liz dies in the middle of it? Nahhh, that would be very shitty. To the characters, to the fans. That's a risk, they wouldn't take. When Liz passes, Caroline will definitely be there. By her side.

    I hope they don't save their first kiss til the finale. That will just be too long. But iI feel like it'll happen in this episode. (Well iI hope so).

    I'm no shipper, but that second photo is a beautiful shot of Stefan and Caroline. Damon has that "I just had a fight with Elena" look. "The Downward Spiral" and "Let Her Go" could be as much about that as it'll be about Caroline. Liz is definitely going to pass away in this episode. I still have burning curiosity about the mystery involving Elena's parents that Liz will try to solve before she dies.

    Except the writers went out of their way multiple times to inform us that Elena loved Damon BEFORE the sire bond. And I'd like to read were Plec admitted this forced stuff, because from everything I've read she is also a Delena fan. I've recently went back and watched the entire series and there has been foreshadowing from the every beginning that it would come down to Damon and Elena. Will it stay that way? Who knows, I hope it does because they are great together IMO, but like I said, it's TV.

    Oh no. I think Caroline's turn off mode will be completely different then all 3 of them. (SED) I've thought about that for a long time, especially Elena's! When Elena's was off, she was just an annoying bitch. NONE of her scenes were fun. Not one. She attacked all her friends, she picked fights out of nowhere, she had this walk that drove me crazy!! She was just annoying. And her MAIN target was Caroline. I'm even more excited if Caroline were to turn it off, just so she could know what it feels like on the other end. (from Caroline's POV). I imagine the things that come out of Caroline's mouth would be the best trash talk in VD history. LOL omg so epic. Her and Kai having words would be hysterical.

    FYI...this IS a show about vampires….

    A) that's what vampires do (until modern TV romanticized them),

    B) Damon has redeemed himself repeatedly throughout the series, but if you want to hold the characters pasts against them let’s talk about how Stefan tried to kill Elena, or how he viciously murdered his and Damon’s father, then proceeded to FORCE his brother to turn when Damon chose not to, or how Stefan can’t drink human blood because he loses ALL control and rips peoples heads off….like, a LOT of people….(oh, sorry, are we not supposed to remember all the bad things Stefan has done? Or is this a “let’s blame everything on Damon because thats your brother of choice” game?)

    C) this is a vampire show, if your concerned about morality this might not be the best show to watch…All the characters have murdered people….Damon, Elena, STEFAN, Alaric, Tyler, Bonnie, Caroline, Jeremy, Liz then there’s the under age drinking, the bed hoping, the witchcraft, the lying, the promotion of skipping school (does Jeremy EVER attend class?!)…WOW, should I go on….???

    Did I say ANYTHING about ignoring the things Stefan has done? Anything at all? Please point it out because I can't seem to find it. And just for the record, most of the horrible things Stefan has done were during times when he had no emotions whatsoever. Most of the horrible things Damon has done was during times when he had full emotions and CHOSE to ignore them to be a murderous psychopath. Not even a little bit the same thing. Someone who has no empathy vs someone who has full empathy and still does horrible things.


    And as for the whole morality, that's not really the issue here. It's the fans willing to dismiss every horrible thing people do and treat them like saints. Damon fans have gone to ridiculous lengths to justify Damon's wild mood swings. And just to make something else clear, Damon has always done something terrible in between short stints of doing something good.


    And if we're going to bring Stefan's problem with drinking blood to the forefront, let's do the same for Damon. But instead of his weakness being blood, his weakness is his feelings. Every time his feelings get hurt, he goes out and murders someone. If he doesn't get his way, he goes out and murders someone. If Elena rejects him, he goes out and murders someone. Usually her brother.


    The fact that the only thing that is keeping Damon sane is Elena, and people actually find that hot, is really pathetic. WOW, should I go on? Because I can. If we're going to compare Stefan and Damon's viciousness, Damon is going to be far more insane every single time.


    Oh and one last thing...considering how much Damon fans dismiss everything he does no matter how bad it is, you really shouldn't mock Stefan fans for not talking about the horrible things he's done. Unlike Damon fans, we've actually accepted these things about Stefan. We don't treat him like nothing he does is wrong like Damon fans.

    The fact that you neglected to point out Stefan’s history while listing the reasons why Damon’s history makes him toxic speaks loud and clear. You didn’t have to say anything about ignoring Stefan’s issues because you were busy pointing out Damon’s. You really think Damon had his full emotions during the first few seasons?! WOW, you really don’t understand emotionally damaged people, maybe they weren’t “turned” off in the sense that Stefan’s were when he was trying to kill Elena but Damon’s were shut off non-the-less. (Stefan’s emotions were just fine when he ripped his dear old dad apart by the way…) Damon has done terrible things (and SO has Stefan!) and lived a long time in the pattern of lashing out viciously, over this series I have seen him evolve, slowly and with lapses in his behaviour, but he has evolved, just as Stefan has had lapses in his behaviour, but the Stefan fans seem pretty quick to forget those and only focus on Damon’s. It’s ok for you to claim Stefan fans have “accepted” his faults, making them no longer relevant, but if Damon fans “accept” his faults we are going to ridiculous lengths and dismissing his actions. Can you really not see your double standard?! It’s also ok for you to ridicule Damon fans but heaven forbid anyone bring up Stefan! That’s mockery!! FYI I like BOTH brothers!! I think the show has an excellent balance with the way both characters are….if they were both the same can you say BORING! And I don’t care that Stefan killed his dad or that he’s ripped off peoples heads, just as I don’t care that Damon falls off the wagon sometimes and does stupid stuff. Want to know why? Because it’s a TV show about VAMPIRES. I EXPECT killing, some justified, some needless. Does that mean I think killing is acceptable in real life? …NO!! But this is FAR from reality isn’t it…? Why do I dismiss Stefan’s faults? Because his past behaviour and wrongs have brought him to this point in the story of his life where he is generally compassionate which suits his character (although I do enjoy Stefan’s bad side, mixing it up sometimes is fun to watch), Why do I dismiss Damon’s faults? Because he went from a character who cared about nobody, to a character who now (while still struggles to be compassionate) has begun to allow people in. In season 1 it was Damon against the world, in Season 6 it’s Damon, Stefan, Elena, Alaric, Enzo (unfortunately), and (YAY!) Bonnie…..with a mild tolerance for Caroline, “quarterback”, “wolf boy”, and “little Gilbert”. That, my friend, is growth.

    So don’t tell me I’m mocking ANYONE! I’m simply pointing out the double standard I see on this board. And it goes both ways by the way… Maybe, if both sides stopped being so negative about the other brother this fandom would be a fun one, instead every time I come on here the same people are bashing certain characters. If people don’t want their favourite to be hauled out to the whipping post, then may I suggest that those people stop bashing others. Naturally people will defend their favourite when we see them constantly being hammered with insults.

    The sire bond did not create Elena's feelings for Damon. Elena's feelings for Damon created the sire bond. I don't understand how people STILL don't get it.     You made it waaaay too easy to rile you up there. You didn't come in here looking for a discussion, you came in here to rant, which really isn't worth my time. People who want to rant have absolutely no intention of seeing things from a point of view that isn't their own, which makes talking to you completely worthless.


    While I can understand your point of view, I don't agree with it. You haven't even tried to extend to me the same courtesy. So far, you haven't even tried to refute the argument that Damon is a horrible person. Your entire argument is based around a simplistic idea that Damon's bad attributes are somehow negated because of his brother's bad attributes, and they're not.


    Stefan has spent almost this entire series trying to make up for the things he's done, while Damon's attitude has been "Yeah I did them. What of it?" which sets them apart. Yet somehow Stefan is judged more harshly? I think more positively about people who try to do good to the best of their abilities, rather than people who think that as long as they do something good sometimes, it negates the bad they do.


    And THAT is the difference between Stefan and Damon. Stefan tries to do good but sometimes does bad things for what he thinks are good reasons, while Damon often knowingly and willingly does bad things with the hope that it's not so bad that he can't make up for it later.


    In Damon's mind, it's better to ask for forgiveness than do the right thing and compromise what he believes is the right choice, even if that includes murder. But that's exactly where it falls apart, because the person who determines what is right or wrong is NOT a person of a morale mindset. By the time Stefan thinks about finding a way not to kill someone, Damon is across the room snapping their neck because it's the quickest option, and he knows that people are going to forgive him for it anyway.


    That's just how Damon is. Unfortunately, he's surrounded by people who make him feel like it's right to do it. That the end always justifies the means, no matter how brutal they are. Stefan considers other options, and if he thinks the other options aren't viable, he will indeed kill someone. Damon doesn't consider the other options because to him it's just easier to get right to the killing and say he's sorry later.


    Now if you're going to come at me with another angry rant, don't bother. I won't respond to it. On the off chance that you can respond to me calmly then I'll respond again. But I'm not holding my breath.

    It just keeps looking more and more like Steroline and Bamon are endgame. Kevin Williamson and Julie Plec decided together years ago how Elena would be separated from the Salvatore brothers and how they would end up separating from each other. I'd say the two of them being in relationships with Elena's best friends would make her want to leave town. Who would want to be the fifth wheel? There will probably be death, too. I think Matt will die either by the end of this season or by the end of the series.

    Actually, it's Delena's dysfunctionality that makes it an interesting watch for me, especially in contrast to Steroline. Sadly, many Delena fans seem to want Damon to sort of be Stefan, while technically still being Damon.

    The really weird thing about Steroline is that many people who are anti-Delena and go on to describe how unhealthy the relationship is don't see that they are reversely describing how healthy Steroline is. If they are not still holding out for Stelena, then what exactly do they want?

    Don't really see what's forced about either relationship - all the relationships on the show seem believable to me, except maybe for the Klaus/Hayley hook-up in Season 4.

    I believe it was when they all had that date night when Stefan was the only one that was seeing what was wrong and helped her with Matt but he did save her in season 1 as well. Yeah, season 2 made us think they were going there but they would do a slowburn and I really did love their friendship but it also seemed like they did like each other they just didn't admit it to herself especially since Caroline did have a thing for him in the Pilot.

    Well i read til book seven,(it went longer than that with ghost writers though) and they were good. I'd have to say book 6 is my favorite. If your asking what happened pertaining to the triangle, then Elena ended up with Damon, years later when she returned to MF. (My friend told me the ending, she read them all. I think there's 11 books in total i can't remember). I have a very soft spot for Matty blue eyes, so i adored them. Tyler i hated, but Caroline changed him for the better, and i don't blame Tyler, in that situation with Klaus, i blame Caroline. (for the breakup). But i do agree, i didn't like that he thought of killing Klaus knowing it would be crucial to every person connected to his bloodline. Never cared for Stefan and Bonnie (i hate Bonnie til this day, but i give her props, she's become tolerable over time). And yeah Stefan and Caroline being themselves completely around one another, is one thing i've always cherished. I always loved that he could never be in a relationship "with a vampire" but Caroline is that one exception. They'll be so cute together. It'll be great when it happens.

    I am not a shipper of any kind regarding Stefan and Caroline, either way is fine, but Stefan is showing no passion whatsoever for Caroline, the writers have friendship them for so long, that I don't see how they could end up together. Caroline overheard her mother, wouldn't she now doubt anything Stefan does? Stefan made a promise which pretty much killed any natural romantic relationship between the two. May be there is hope for Enzo and Caroline, which I highly doubt the writers will go there.

    I am so excited for this episode. I'm also nervous for this episode. I've stayed in the dark a lot, SPECIFICALLY for this episode. I know nothing, (except the US promo) and that's EXACTLY how I want it. I've watched the promo about 100 times already. (Not kidding).

    There's more emphasis on Liz and Jeremy than anything else, and I'm glad for that. This episode is about saying goodbye to them. I wonder if we'll see Liz cross over and find peace. We almost saw it a couple of weeks ago. I'm surprised there's nothing of Jeremy's fight with Enzo. I guess the CW doesn't want to spoil what is probably a good chunk of the story. Enzo can't put or really keep Matt under compulsion, so I'm guessing Matt will go straight to Jeremy and tell him everything, which will lead to both Damon and Elena finding out what Stefan has been hiding. Enzo might be a creep, but he had a point. Stefan was just as bad or worse than Damon as Ripper, and half the time it was Damon cleaning up the mess when Stefan went off the rails, but Damon never concocted such a huge lie or hid relatives just to keep Stefan in line. Those two are going to have to work on that issue. Even Alaric doesn't want to trust Stefan these days.

    Maybe Stefan partially trusts women who are in love with him for the same reason Klaus does- the women will do anything, keep any secret for him. Considering all of the remorse Damon feels about what he did, I don't think it'll take him long to forgive Stefan, which is probably why Enzo decided to take out his frustration on Sarah. Enzo might have threatened Matt's mother, but I don't think Matt cares enough about his abandoning mother to put an innocent human girl at risk.

    Another thing keeps bugging me. If Stefan cared about Elena from the start, why did he push himself into her life when he had a human descendant hidden away because he knew his life was too dangerous? I don't believe that Markos' love spell was that strong because Stefan and Elena were able to break up and are in control of their own destinies. I think it'll come out in this season or the next that Stefan came looking for Elena for another, specific reason. And I'm not saying this because I'm anti-stelena or anything. I'm not a shipper at all. I think that Damon has certainly proven that he's deserving of Elena like JP wanted to have happen, but stories are moving beyond that point and both Damon and Elena should move onto new journeys so that their characters can continue to grow. Damon might be too big for Delena at this point. Maybe there's someone who would be better for him while he gets to know Sarah, and there could be a better fit for Elena while she continues to save and help redeem the people around her. I thought it was interesting that JP and IS keep bringing up Rose. Damon might not need a love interest right now. He might decide to spend his time making amends for killing Sarah's birth parents.

    The fact that Silas took the cure out of Katherine right before she started aging was a coincidence. There's been a lot of debate about what exactly caused Katherine to age and die fast, but I remember Wes saying something that should have prevented confusion. Katherine was 500 years old and long past her time to live in the world. Nature took action and removed her from the world because she didn't belong in it anymore. That's why no one discusses any cure for immortality anymore. The cure is really just a killer of vampires to maintain a natural balance. Only brand new vampires who were turned against their will, or who changed their minds immediately after drinking human blood, could have taken the cure and survived, but even then vampire blood could never have been used to heal them again and they would have never had the option of being turned again. It's the price of magic. Whatever traveler created that little virus was smart. The only solution to vampirism being entertained now is the body-jumping on TO, but even that has consequences because the owner of the new body either goes into Limbo or gets stuck in the unconscious body of the person possessing them, I'm not sure which. They're definitely not using the passenger spell on TO, but it looks like a witch version of that spell.

    Considering all of this, I don't think it's possible for Elena to be human again, at least not in her body, without it leading to her dying right away as a casualty of life with vampires. The writers might explore making Elena a traveler in a later story arc, closer to the end of the series, but for now Elena is a vampire. I just wish there was a way to remove the doppelganger from her. I would be interested to see what Elena would look like as just a combination of her two parents. Then again, she might already be that. The supernatural aspect could just be a small part of it.

    I think there's a reason why TVD and TO writers keep reminding us of things from TVD Season 4, and I don't think it was an accident that both Elena and Elijah did the same thing to fight off witches. It was very strange how Tatia disappeared from Elijah's visions, but the red door didn't, right before Elijah blew up the house. If I'm not mistaken, Julie Plec wrote both episodes. I can't see her making that kind of mistake, if it was one. I could be wrong. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

    So Stefan says at the beginning of the season ..shes just a friend,I dont see her that way ...Liz gets cancer and now boom..they are kissing...not forced? Come again.I get Caroline wanting Stefan because he is kind and caring etc ..she was a Stefan and Elena cheerleader all through the series...well except for when Stefan turned her down in Season 1 ...but I get you Caroline...Elena doesnt want him so it is so easy to fall in love with him (whilst banging Klaus against a tree and falling in love with Tyler).This may be a pity kiss or a moment kiss ...who knows ...but I hope to God it doesnt last as Steroline have no romantic chemistry and they are better off a friends.(Notice how after the promo of them kissing ..that Plec and Co decided to bring out that promo with Jeremy leaving as most viewers said they were tuning out....i see you Plec)

    Is it me, or does it look like Enzo will show up in the same place where Jeremy is going to meet with Elena? Is Enzo so pathetic that he has to attack Jeremy when he's about to go away to college? He's tried to kill Jeremy before. Enzo will probably use Augustine and the Gilbert family as an excuse to be a nuisance. I really hope this leads to a re-match between Elena and Enzo. I think someone said that Elena's hands were tied behind her back last time so she couldn't really fight. Between Elena and Jeremy, Enzo should be afraid, be very afraid. I wonder if this will be another sense of Season 4 deja vu that the writers have been creating.

    I actually called them out for using ships to promote the show, and I calmly explained that it isn't helping with ratings because the audience is too diverse. Shoving ships down our throats has only made people irritable, and it even spoils the moment for some of the shippers. I see I'm not the only person with this viewpoint because as you said, the CW changed how it promotes even this week's episode.

    Honestly, I hope they give him a better storyline then the one you just described, because that would be just sad for this actor who has proven he has skills. Maybe they are trying to keep the lens focused on a few main storylines right now - Liz dying, Gemini Coven, Bonnie and Jer leaving. Enzo's storyline will come to the forefront when a few of these are complete (ie: Jer leaving town and Liz dying for example).

    I think there is a reason they keep reminding us of s4 too! And since we know that Liz is going to ask Damon to solve the case about Elenas parents I feel like something BIG is coming.
    You're right.. it would be interessting to see what Elena would look like if she wasn't a doppelganger .. but I don't want that because then they would have to use a different actress and I love Nina! No one could ever replace her!
    I thought it was weird that Elijah and Elena both used the same trick to fight witches too! I would think that it was just a mistake if the episodes where farther apart. But the fact that it was within weeks it makes it suspicious

    I can't help but wonder if Hope had something to do with Elijah's sudden clarity of mind. He was holding her when Cami was going on and on about how there's no quick fix for what Elijah went through. Would you hate me if I mentioned that I'm getting tired of Cami? I think it's a given that there's a loose connection between Hope and Elena, whether or not anyone talks about it, because Hope wouldn't exist if Elena hadn't let Klaus sacrifice her, which led to some loose connection between Klaus and Elena that required him to use her blood to be able to sire hybrids. I don't see how Hope would be able to sire hybrids without a little bit of Elena in her own blood. I'm not saying Hope is a doppelganger or anything, but she's so powerful that she can't only come from a drunken night of crazy sex between Klaus and a werewolf.

    I don't think they'll actually kill Enzo, he still has some story left, but Elena and Jeremy together will be enough to scare him off. At the very least, someone will have to explain to Enzo about the Hunter's Curse.

    I don't think Julie hates the character Kol. That's a rumor that got started by Kol fans who caused so much trouble on Twitter that JP had to call them out. She didn't have to bring Kol back on TO at all, or have Nate Buzolic in flashbacks or give him an online miniseries. She said that she would bring Kol back somewhere down the line if she thought there was a story for him, and she stuck to her word. The only people who genuinely hate fictional characters are haters who start fights with fans, etc. because they have nothing better to do.

    No, why would I hate you because you're getting tired of Cami? I like her (it took me a while to like her but now she kind of grew on me) but she's not a character I love so much that I feel the need to defend her.
    I thought about Elena having some sort of connection to Hope too. The fact that Elijah's und Elena's set-your-own-hand-on-fire scenes where so similar could be a little hint.
