TB? and come on wouldn't you want to search every vampire lore out there and find if it's 100% true that vampire blood can't cure cancer other than some just telling you?
I think that vampire blood is good for injuries because it accelerates the process of wound healing by promoting cell growth and tissue regeneration. Since tumours are generally caused by uncontrolled cell growth and regeneration, I'm guessing (from a scientific standpoint!) that vampire blood would be the last thing one would want to give to a cancer patient. In fact, some anti-cancer drugs actually work by inhibiting molecules involved in wound healing.
Ok I just caught the video on Twitter. Damon was harsh, but he's right. There's no stopping the Big C when it's this far advanced, and catering to Caroline's denial wouldn't be helpful to Liz or Caroline. As sad as it is, I'm glad the writers have introduced a story that forces the younger characters to accept the reality of death, to grieve, and to move on.
This could be why Caroline's attempt to save Liz will only kill her faster. The writers might have done some research. They usually do get background knowledge before writing a screenplay about medical stuff.
Damon's response was blunt and upsetting, but the truth nevertheless. Glad to see we're gonna have Damon/Liz scenes. Their friendship was something I really liked. Reminds me of season 1. Besides Caroline/Liz mother-daughter bonding is also something I look forward to. We need more family interactions on the show. That's something Teen Wolf mastered at and TVD mostly sucks at.
Glad, that Damon has not mellowed completely. But the whole story must be that Liz doesn't want to be a vampire, otherwise it doesn't make sense. Why wouldn't she want to die with vampire blood in her? Even if it doesn't heal her, then she would come back as a vampire, it was never said before that you have to be healthy to come back to life ....
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Oh look they fixed the problem.
ReplyDeleteGood clip. Damon has a point but of course he expresses it in the most callous, dickish way possible.
ReplyDeleteDidn't Stefan already tell Caroline that vamp blood doesn't cure cancer? It doesn't cure TB either since Enzo died of consumption.
ReplyDeletehave they bothered to explain why meredith fell used vamp blood to heal all her patients
ReplyDeleteThey changed the rules of vamp blood this season. Enzo died from consumption (with vampire blood in his system).

ReplyDeleteShe isn't drinking vampire blood but Caroline wants her to - that's what they are arguing about.
ReplyDeletePlus they used it on Elena to cure her damaged brain at the end of Season 3 - I forget what was wrong with her head.

ReplyDeleteOh. I'm at a disadvantage because I don't have some plugin required to see the video. I can only see the picture above it.
ReplyDeleteCan you post a link to where you saw the clip? I can't find it.
ReplyDeleteI was just about to post the exact same thing.
