Finally some sort of sneak peek at what Kai is doing with Elena. Kai looks like he's been walking through fire. Elena will probably get on the phone with Damon as soon as she's free of Kai. I wonder if she'll form some kind of understanding of what's wrong with him, or if she'll just put up a fight the whole time because writers are afraid that the slightest bit of humanity toward someone else would upset Delena shippers. Remember when Elena showed insight into Klaus' behavior and no one complained? I miss the good old days. Sorry if I'm ranting. A Delena shipper just harassed me on Twitter. I don't like blocking people, but that person made me uncomfortable.
I'm already bored with the story that Stefan and Caroline have this week. Liz is the only one I'm interested in seeing as far as the Cancer plot.
Alaric looks like he is desperate not to lose Jo. I don't think he will, at least not right away.
I remember reading JP's spoiler about Elena getting a proposition, and I figured Kai was going to offer her something that only he would have the power to do, in exchange for her help controlling his power. The only thing Elena might want more than being human again are her memories. Paul Wesley said that nothing mystical will happen in this episode, and the next few episodes are supposed to be Damon and Elena starting over with the honeymoon period of their relationship, so I think Elena might get her interesting proposition later. Another character might offer her a job or something.
I really hope to see Elena human again by the end of the series, and if possible no longer a doppelganger. They're using the body switching mythology so much on TO that I don't know if writers would be willing to make Elena a traveler/witch. I guess we'll have to wait and see what happens.
A marriage proposal from Damon would be interesting. Their have been several articles about if Damon / Elena can really commit to each other and have as close to a normal relationship as possible.
I would not call myself a Delena shipper, I would say that I enjoy the show and the writers sold me on Damon / Elena's relationship from the start and let's face it after 5 long years fans are getting tired of the constant, need-less hurdles thrown in their way. The relationship needs some level of normalcy and some fans are getting anxious. Honestly, On average I have seen the worst posts from Stelena and Bamon shippers than Delena - either way it make no sense to me...fans should just enjoy the show.
With regards to Elena, we saw her show compassion to Aaron Whitmore, which to be honest was a waste of a storyline. Not sure if it was the acting or the character's story but it was the worst. So if Kai, is going to be another Aaron than Yes, I will pass not because of Delena but because of a dead-end storyline. I really like Kai but they need to keep him as a true villain for a while. It would ruin his credibility as a great villain if they start of by making him a love interest for Elena. I think Elena has been a fairly good judge of character and whatever flirting he might do would be because he wants something - basically anything to achieve his goal of merging and becoming the most powerful witch.
Alaric - he has fallen hard for Jo - I hope they explain Why - is it because he was so grateful for what she did for him?
I think I can tolerate it for now. Julie Plec has been very careful with her words when she mentions this, talking about giving the couple "a period of happiness" and "for a while" (The "for a while" quote was actually from last season). I don't think Delena will last all the way to the end of the series. It might not even last to the end of this season. Delena was dragged out this long because once Elena goes through both brothers, there won't be much purpose to the show, and Elena will have to get stories that would direct her away from Mystic Falls for good. Now that Jeremy is gone and Liv is dead, Elena might need to cling to Damon for a little while, but it looks like she's never going to get that compulsion lifted, which means that she won't be able to make excuses for Damon the way she did. The compulsion could be a plot device to give shippers something they missed out on and then separate Damon and Elena at the end of this new arc. Even if the two are endgame. we might just have to sit through this little awkward first-date thing that some people want to see, and after a few episodes something will happen to keep Damon and Elena broken up until the end of the series. Even the drama that comes from Delena was never actually said to be permanent. No promises were made for the relationship to be endgame or to last for more than 1 1/2 to 2 seasons. People only think it's implied because the writers and EPs encourage the shippers' excitement for their own reasons. The issues are ratings, making sure that shippers are satisfied as much as story permits, and giving Damon fans something else to be excited about when the relationship ends.
I'm tired of people doing so much shipping in general. It's ruining the show more and more every year. I guess we'll have to agree to disagree about whether Delena is really a good couple. All I see is something unhealthy for Elena. She should have been able to make a new friend like Aaron without her boyfriend or ex-boyfriend killing her friend. I don't think that Kai should be a love interest to anyone, but I do feel that Elena's character needs to branch out more, doing things that don't all involve Damon. It is VERY unhealthy for a girl's life to revolve around her boyfriend, especially if there's a chance that he might harm people she cares about. Don't get me wrong, I don't think Elena could ever care about Kai, but she should be able to form her own opinions about him and the Gemini coven that might not agree with what Damon thinks or wants to do to them. So far, whenever Damon and Elena are together, they form a sort of tunnel vision and they don't think clearly about things outside their relationship. It's VERY, VERY unhealthy and it isn't good for Elena's character development. She's too young to be involved in something that intense. It's not really good for Damon, either. He can't find true redemption if he needs Elena to be his girlfriend to keep him on track. We've already seen Damon do good and care about others in Elena's absence, so as of the Season 5 finale I don't believe that Damon needs Elena anymore. It's time for him to branch out, too. Relationships don't last long in this genre, and while I'm glad that shippers are getting something they'll like and they missed out on, I hope that will be the end of it, at least for now, for the sake of storytelling and character development.
I really hope i'm proven wrong and you're right.I really have nothing personal against the couple but i'm just really tired of all thier relationship melodrama.I mean, how hard can it be,really to decide what you want in your life, elena?!?
I agree that Elena's relationship with Stefan caused just as many problems as her relationship with Damon. This is why I don't think Elena should be in a relationship with either brother. Right now she's vulnerable because she's afraid to let an innocent human guy into her chaotic life, but her life is so chaotic because the Salvatore brothers have been a large part of her life for too long. After everything she's been through, Elena should have a chance to meet and fall in love with someone who doesn't cause so much pain and suffering, but she's unable to do that with Damon moving in and out of her life. What she has with him was never real because they're fictional characters, and their relationship is written to add dramatic effect to please young viewers who don't know what a real and healthy relationship is.
Thanks Sarah - we agree on a few points which is great. I will take it. On several others - not so much - here is what I have witnessed on screen 1) Damon told Elena when she first became a vampire that he "did not get it but he does now" Elena having and deserving a normal human life w/o him or Stefan in it - again Damon loving her enough to let her go 2) Elena is living proof of what could happen when you invite vampires into your life and she saw what just happened to Stefan's last girlfriend and she had to make a choice if Liam she should include him in that life and I don't fault her for choosing No. 3) Fictional show - Yes, that is why it is so much fun to watch and comment on - a small escape from reality at times. 4) Real - Yes, again on screen I have seen Damon / Elena's relationship grown from friends to lovers since S1. I would question their relationship if the universe had played cupid and pulled them together like magnets - now that to me does not seem real.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
for a second i thought Alaric was holding Damon's face LOL
ReplyDeleteI wonder what proposal kai gives elena,a chance to be human again?

ReplyDeletegross but cool LOL
