Looks good, definitely better than NBC fall shows but how it is going to fit in american TV? We know if it does well, it's not going to be a minisseries.
It looks like Parenthood. Aren't they a family? I've only seen the name and the promo of this show, just like most of the people who will watch the promos on TV, and that is what it looks like. Maybe they should release a promo saying what it is about if it's not about a family. I know it's almost impossible for it to get a 2, but if it did it would hurt GA
Well, they are not one single family. Here is a short synopsus from NBC's website: It's Hector's 40th birthday, and his wife is throwing him a big party with lots of friends, family and food for what will undoubtedly be a happy, celebratory day. Or so they think. As Hector tries to navigate family politics, awkward friendships and the younger woman he's secretly seeing on the side, the built-up tension explodes when Hector's hotheaded cousin slaps another couple's misbehaving child. Everyone is understandably stunned, and the party abruptly ends - with the child's parents vowing legal action as they leave. But what the hosts and guests don't know is that this moment will ignite a chain of events that will uncover long-buried secrets within this group of friends and family... and vigorously challenge the core values of everyone involved.
It's a remake of an Australian series. US remakes haven't really worked in recent years, so I don't see this doing any better.
I don't think this will work either. And I thought of it as Parenthood 2.0 cause the first thing I saw of the show after the name was the promo, which didn't explain what it is about and opened with the words "even in the most normal FAMILIES" + it premieres on the same network as PH and 2 weeks after its finale. I think a lot of people will think of PH when they see this promo on TV. And btw, I've never seen PH.
I'm shocked no one is here going "OMG child beater" I mean it looks great but I know what some people are like with supposed sexism to women on OMG Stalker.
New shows premiering this week - Empire, Agent Carter New shows premiering later this year - The Slap, Allegiance, Man Seeking Woman, 12 Monkeys, Secrets and Lies, Fresh Off The Boat, American Crime, The Messengers, iZombie, and many many more Shows I’m already watching - Scandal, HTGAWM, The Blacklist, Sleepy Hollow, Gotham, Once Upon A Time, Revenge, Gracepoint, Grimm, Z Nation, Saturday Night Live, The Walking Dead, The 100, American Horror Story, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, etc... Shows I’m planning on catching up - Lots of comedies, The Flash, Arrow, Fargo, Reign if renewed, Broadchurch, Jane The Virgin, The Affair, and many many more
Although I do like her. Melissa George playing the same character here as she did in the original seems a little pointless. Then again, this entire miniseries seems pointless. I had been hoping they were going to keep the basic premise and have different characters / change the storylines or outcomes, but the more I see and hear, it seems they're just sticking to the original. Which was good, but why remake if you're not going to make it your own? Although if George is as good in this as she was in the original, I may as well give this a watch.
I think it's definitely a miniseries. Based on Sarsgard and Thurman's involvement. Movie stars can be odd about committing to anything beyond guest or one off roles.
I agree about Melissa George. Although this got me wondering about what happened with the Sam Hunter series she was supposed to be starring in.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Looks good! Didn't know Penn Badgley was in it, another reason to watch it.
ReplyDeleteWas Uma Therman not in this promo? Everything went by so fast, maybe I didn't catch her.
ReplyDeleteIt looked pretty good to me! Has a great cast, I'll DVR this since I watch Greys Anatomy live.
ReplyDeleteI see her in the title card at the very right.
ReplyDeleteI meant in the scenes.
ReplyDeleteOh, then I don't think I saw her, it did go by fast.

ReplyDeleteGreenblatt was really fixating that it's a miniseires. He even made fun of CBS calling UtD a miniseries.
ReplyDeletelooks intense. I'm in.
ReplyDeleteParenthood 2.0? Anyways, if this premieres with a 2.0 it will hurt Grey's more than TBBT has.
ReplyDeleteErm, how exactly is this Parenthood 2.0
ReplyDeleteAnd I don't see it premiere even close to 2.0. Mid to low 1s most likely.

ReplyDeleteIf you mean by a dark, dramatically intense of Parenthood, I can see your point a bit.
ReplyDeleteAnthology series. New cast each year with a new incident. Not sure what they would call the show in season 2 though.

Another completely unnecessary remake.
ReplyDeleteI don't think this will work either.

This looks so much better than Gracepoint. I think this will do pretty well
ReplyDeleteSo NBC finally has a good Thursday night
ReplyDeleteS1: The Slap, S2: The Kick, S3: The Punch, etc...
ReplyDeleteI thought that the book that the Aussie show was based on had a racial element. Did I misremember that or has that been dropped?
ReplyDeleteWhat?
ReplyDeleteI'm shocked no one is here going "OMG child beater" I mean it looks great but I know what some people are like with supposed sexism to women on OMG Stalker.
