People sue over the most trivial things at least in the United States, but yes from my understanding the various secrets of the characters are revealed due to the incident.
The original was pretty good, I feel totally meh about this. I tell myself I'll watch it but it's probably going to end up being like Gracepoint, which I said I'd watch but only ended up seeing part of the first episode.
This looks terrible. Like I can't even believe Zachary Quintos would waste his time on this instead of something else. Anything else. Heck he even stated he doesn't want to come back for Heroes: Reborn but is willing to do crap shoot shows like this.
I won't be surprised if the ratings are good for this either...
When I saw the first promo for this mess, I knew I would not watch it. I would not watch a grown man justify slapping a kid, just to give the self righteous world a moral debate on right and wrong or a debate on discipline vs non-discipline. I don't care if the kid is like Damien from The Omen or Laura Ingalls from Little House on the Prairie. If I want to see a kid slapped, debates raging and silly lawsuits, I will turn on my local news.
The original Australia miniseries and novel actually focuses more on the eight characters featured across eight episodes rather than The Slap itself which...
I am still drawn to this. The premise sounds quite silly but I think if executed well it could lead to a very nice exploration of inter personal relationships. And that cast is amazing, there are many names in there that are worth me giving it a try in themselves.
Exactly, but for me it's death. If I want to see stories with people dying I'll read the newspaper, or turn on the news. Really, if I wanted to see anything negative I'd do that. I don't want entertainment that isn't positive. Things that comment on real life are lame.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
This is a limited series, right? I just don't see how it could air on a long term basis.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a fun ride, tho.
Wow. Going to court because he slapped the child or is there more to the story?

ReplyDelete8 episode event series. If it ends up a hit, NBC would probably try to go the anthology route with a new cast for season 2.
ReplyDeleteThe original is a miniseries so I believe this is the same. No way it will generate enough ratings to get a second season anyway.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone really care about this show? This has to be the most melodramatic garbage I have seen in years.

I'd rather watch this than one of those ever growing dumb ass reality tv shows their putting on tv everyday... lol
ReplyDeleteI just hope they get it right... I saw the org. and it was pretty good..

ReplyDelete*spoiler alert*
Becomes more of an afterthought.
Reviews have been slowly trickling in. So far, Vanity Fair and DigitalSpy have given the show some positive feedback on the show's first episode.
ReplyDeleteHah, those are technically not scripted but I agree.

ReplyDeleteI am interested in watching it. But I fully expect it to be a big ratings flop.

ReplyDeleteBut probably with another Christos Tsiolkas book as a source material.
