The Musketeers - Emilie - Advance Preview + Dialogue Teasers

Jan 30, 2015

It seems like it’s been a long wait for this episode, but I feel that it is one to look forward to. Craig and Hodges have produced a well-balanced script that successfully throws out hints of the season’s multiple arcs when appropriate, whilst never taking the focus off the main plot. My favourite director from last year, Andy Hay, is back. Although this week doesn’t provide copious sweeping panoramic views, he does find interesting angles and perspectives to shoot from. You get an insight to Emilie’s awestruck wonder as she enters the palace for the first time, for example.

The Musketeers are dispatched by Louis to check out Emilie of Duras, a prophet whose visions are inciting anti-Spanish riots. Their advice falls on deaf ears though and events continue to escalate within the city walls. After an unsettling, and relatively grim, incident Treville decides that the best solution would be for Aramis to infiltrate the camp in order to work out the best way to proceed. The remaining men tackle the mobs in Paris, protecting any Spanish civilians and officials from the crowds who are baying for their blood on the streets.

I revealed in the second hangman last week that Aramis and Emilie develop a friendship based on their shared beliefs. Yet he isn’t the only character to approach her and attempt reconciliation. Anne is feeling the anti-Spanish sentiment acutely and therefore is naturally drawn into wanting to resolve the matter too. With Constance by her side she makes her way to Emile’s camp as well. As a soldier this is probably the last thing Aramis needs whilst he’s undercover, but as the father to her child it could also finally give them a chance to see where they stand.

Milady’s fortunes appear to be on the up, with no need for any more cavorting under the dinner table in her undies on the horizon. As the King’s mistress she is firmly established in her own quarters of the palace, with a breath-taking view of the gardens. Well, there is one blot on the landscape that is spoiling the vista somewhat. However, the late Cardinal’s agent is perfectly proficient at carrying out the task at hand in order to maintain her position at court. She’s a resourceful woman after all, and I’m sure she understands the politics all too well.

The previous two hangman for this episode can be found here and here for those that haven't seen them as yet.

Here's the completed third hangman, apologises for making such a pigs ear of the letters. I shouldn't have rushed to fit an extra one in this week!

Someone wants Rochefort dead but chooses entirely the wrong person to perform the deed, so of course the mission fails. This only infuriates the Comte. If you think he was dangerous before, be prepared to see him become even more ominous and cruel.

D and P won the first poll and have been added
B and G won the second poll and have been added
C and U won the third poll and have been added
W won the fourth poll and has been added along with a bonus letter, H

Emilie airs on Friday 30th January at 9pm on BBC 1 and BBC 1 HD in the UK, below are a few dialogue teasers to see you through until then. I will fill in any correct guesses on who said what later in the week. Don't forget to come back to vote in our poll after the episode and let us know what you thought.

“There is not a drop of French blood running in your veins” Raymond to Anne

“You know Lamay, the surgeon? Find him and bring him to the garrison”

“You should have four guards outside this room at all times”

“When you truly love someone all the tricks in the world don’t matter” Constance to Anne

“It is rare to find beauty and humour in a woman” Louis to Milady

“You will be at my side when we ride into Madrid” Emilie to Aramis

“Do you want to be alone?” d'Artagnan to Athos

“The Inquisition would know how to stop her tongue” Navas

“Now there’s something you don’t see every day”

  1. Thanks, Sandi!

Some tough teasers this week. Only two guesses:

“You know Lamay, the surgeon? Find him and bring him to the garrison”
Said by Treville? Not a clue who to, but presumably one of the boys.

    And
“The Inquisition would know how to stop her tongue”

    Spanish Ambassador to Rochefort...?

  2. Those first two sentences of your preview Sandi, they're all I need to put a smile on my face. That's exactly what I needed to hear about this episode and it's exactly where the series should be at this point. I have high hopes that there will be much to discover in this episode and I'm looking forward to doing so. As always you've managed to give us a tempting taster without spoiling the meal.:) Agree with Knitty42, those teasers are tough. Lots of possibilities. Quick guess:
"It is rare to find beauty and humour in a woman" - Louis to Milady

    ReplyDelete
  3. There is not a drop of French blood running in your veins Emilie to Anne

“The Inquisition would know how to stop her tongue” Perales to king

“You will be at my side when we ride into Madrid” Rochefort

    thank you for preview

    ReplyDelete
  4. Fabulous preview Sandi - I get the feeling I'm going to enjoy this episode very much. :)

Here's a few guesses for the teasers:

"When you truly love someone all the tricks in the world don't matter" - Athos to d'Artagnan
"You will be at my side when we ride into Madrid" - Emilie to Aramis
"It is rare to find beauty and humour in a woman" - Lamay to Constance

    ReplyDelete
  5. Oh, I do hope you're right about the first one!

    ReplyDelete
  6. Ah Helen, you're definitely going for a flirtatious surgeon then? :) I'm with you on the "When you truly love someone all the tricks in the world don't matter" line. I think that could wel be Athos to D'Art.

    ReplyDelete
  7. I'm not wanting the flirtatious surgeon - this has got to be a Constagnan full speed ahead episode!!!! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  8. I'm with you. I thought it could be a Louis line, as it's a compliment that's actually an insult. The idea that beautiful women are usually not funny.

    ReplyDelete
  9. That's true or possibly Charles Venn to either Anne or Constance - perhaps?

    ReplyDelete
  10. You're welcome!

I've found getting quotes tough this week, especially with having done hangman clues already. I don't want to spoil too much, lol. Neither of those are correct I'm afraid, sorry.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Never mind, we've got a week to work on it! :P

    ReplyDelete
  12. Cheers :) I liked this episode a lot, it's quite clever at suggesting stuff without spoonfeeding it all to you, Craig obviously knows these characters well imo.

You have one of quotes correct :)

    ReplyDelete
  13. You're welcome :)

Unfortunately none of those are correct, but like the others say, they are tough ones this week I'm afraid.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Now that was a total fluke! :) Can you say which one? or is it too early days.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Cheers, I hope you guys I like it. I certainly one of my favourites :)

You have one of those guesses correct.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Early days yet, I'll let some other people have a go at guessing at them first if they want to, then fill some in tomorrow evening when I get home. It will be latish though, just to warn you.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Oh no! I wonder which one it is??? I'm guessing it's the first one that's correct but who knows... ;)

    ReplyDelete
  18. I'm going on a process of elimination my friend. I got one right, which I think might be the humour and beauty quote being Louis to Milady. So I think you're spot on with the Athos to D'Art quote.

    ReplyDelete
  19. That's good thinking Scoobie! You're right about the humour and beauty quote - it does sound like a Louis quote. :)

    ReplyDelete
  20. One last guess for me tonight before heading to bed. "The Inquisition would know how to stop her tongue." said by Anne to Constance

    ReplyDelete
  21. In this episode we finally get to see Anne and Aramis talk for the first time since the baby, will it be something to look forward to ? And also what do u mean by to see where Anne and Aramis stand?

Here is my guess for one of the quotes...

“Do you want to be alone?” Constance to Anne and Aramis.

    ReplyDelete
  22. “Now there’s something you don’t see every day” - I'm pretty certain that's something Constance has said to D'Artagnan at some point! Lol.;)

    ReplyDelete
  23. i try again “This is only the beginning” Emilie

    ReplyDelete
  24. “You want this land boy? You will have to fight for it” - Renard to Athos

    ReplyDelete
  25. “Do you want to be alone?” - Anne to Aramis

    ReplyDelete
  26. I hope hope hope that:

“You know Lamay, the surgeon? Find him and bring him to the garrison”
    is Constance to... someone,

“It is rare to find beauty and humour in a woman”
    is Lamay to Constance,

    and

“Do you want to be alone?”
is D'Artagnan to Constance and Lamay.

    I would love a jealous D'Artagnan!

    ReplyDelete
  27. “There is not a drop of French blood running in your veins” someone to Anne, for sure. Rochefort maybe?

“You know Lamay, the surgeon? Find him and bring him to the garrison” Anne to Constance

“You should have four guards outside this room at all times” Aramis to Anne

“When you truly love someone all the tricks in the world don’t matter” D'Artagnan to Constance

“The Inquisition would know how to stop her tongue” Ambassador Parales to Rochefort

“You want this land boy? You will have to fight for it” Not sure who says it but I'm guessing they say it to D'Artagnan because he seems to be the only one people refer to as "boy"

    ReplyDelete
  28. This preview has me super stoked for episode 4! Sounds like an episode where everyone is intertwined in the same main weekly story which isn't something that happens all the time. I can't wait!

I'm going to take a shot at some quotes... I have to say they do have me quite stumped for the most part this week. So many possibilities!

“You know Lamay, the surgeon? Find him and bring him to the garrison” said to Constance

“It is rare to find beauty and humour in a woman” Lamay to Constance or maybe Louis to Milady

“You want this land boy? You will have to fight for it” said to Athos

    ReplyDelete
  29. I agree Scoobie about the beauty and humor quote being Louis to Milady and the other quote Athos to D'Art.

    ReplyDelete
  30. “You know Lamay, the surgeon? Find him and bring him to the garrison”

    Treville to D'artagnan? :)

    ReplyDelete
  31. You mean to tell me we might actually get a real (overdue) Aramis/Anne scene? I'm in shock! SHOCK I say!!!

    ReplyDelete
  32. I really don't see the point in jealous D'Artagnan, it's Constance and her marriage to Bonacieux ( not to mention d'Art's lack of money ) that's the main issues for Constagnan, not the strength of his feelings.

    ReplyDelete
  33. It's certainly going to be a packed episode from the sound of it. :)

"This is only the beginning" sounds like something Milady or Rochefort would say.. Or maybe Emille..

"The Inquisition would know how to stop her tongue” Rochefort

“Do you want to be alone?” someone to Anne or d'Artagnan to Athos

“It is rare to find beauty and humour in a woman” Lamay to Constancs or Louis to Milady

"When you truly love someone all the tricks in the world don’t matter" Athos or Aramis to d'Artagnan

Can I ask whether Rochefort has any scenes with the Muskereers that are more one-on-one than in episodes 2 and 3? We haven't had any of that since episode 1.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Thanks for the review, Sandi!

Got any Constagnan hints? The scenes for them have seriously been lacking.

Do they at least share more than 1 scene together? I just miss seeing them interacting.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I think you're right Tigercheetah. A momentary misunderstanding is one thing but I think at this point he already believes it's over with Constance. I'm not sure what a further complication of that type, would add to the dynamic. They have enough obstacles to navigate as it is. It could also be devastating for her character.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Can't believe it, we're almost there!
    So... let's try.

"You should have four guards outside this room at all times" Rochefort to Anne
“The mob are rampaging through Paris, murdering anyone with a Spanish name" Treville to Louis or both Royals
“The Inquisition would know how to stop her tongue" Louis to... ?
"Now there’s something you don’t see every day" Someone to Anne
"This is only the beginning" Rochefort to Milady

    ReplyDelete
  37. Totally agree - I'm positive that any alternative attention would be unwanted and definitely not reciprocated by Constance.

    ReplyDelete
  38. “The mob are rampaging through Paris, murdering anyone with a Spanish name” Trevile to Aramis

    ReplyDelete
  39. Oh, I don't think it would be reciprocated for a moment. But all of D'Artagnan's issues - marriage and money - are technicalities. I would love to see him feel emotionally threatened too. After all, poor Constance had to watch him kiss the blonde in episode 1.

    ReplyDelete
  40. "Poor Constance" ended it. Twice. So frankly at this point he can kiss anyone he likes. She can't have it both ways.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Can you tell us whether there is any more interaction/banter/discussion between the boys this week? It seems to have been lacking this series, with the focus on the plot rather than their relationships, and although it is alright sometimes I am missing the brotherhood and as that was the real draw of last series I am not really as invested this time round.

    ReplyDelete
  42. thanks for the preview sandi ,
    here's my gess

"It is rare to find beauty and humour in a woman" said Louis to milady

“You want this land boy? You will have to fight for it” said to Athos

“You know Lamay, the surgeon? Find him and bring him to the garrison” treville to one of the musketeers

    ReplyDelete
  43. I'm only online very briefly on a borrowed laptop so I could post the sneak peek. Just wanted to say that I agree with this statement. I'm not really sure why people think that Lamay will be in anyway involved in a romantic way with Constance? His position at court is way above hers and he's 15-20 years older than her, lol.

    ReplyDelete
  44. is “There is not a drop of French blood running in your veins” being said to Porthos?

    ReplyDelete
  45. I'm in shock too. I just hope we're not dis-appointed.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Could be...I was wondering that as well :)

    ReplyDelete
  47. Not sure where to post this but lots of people on Twitter saying 3rd season has been confirmed. There is also a post on Andy Hay's twitter account saying he has inadvertently let the cat out of the bag but an official announcement is due soon. :)

    ttps://twitter.com/MrAndyHay/status/559709591324598272

    ReplyDelete
  48. I was just coming on to say the same thing! Glad 3rd series is seemingly going ahead- I must admit I was worried. :)

    ReplyDelete
  49. Me too - this has definitely made my day! I was worried at first it was a hoax but then I say Andy Hay's Twitter account. Hopefully, the official announcement will be very soon! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  50. Great, i was worried too, but his tweet seemed pretty reliable... so,
cheers! So happy for the cast and crew, they deserve it! Maybe next
year Bbc will schedule the show in a better way.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I'm scared. But, at the same time, can't wait.

    ReplyDelete
  52. HALLELUJAH!!! Now, let's hope we don't have too much of a cast cull at the end of this season and that the BBC learn from their ridiculous Friday night scheduling decision and lack of promotion.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Looks like the new teaser trailer for Emile has answered a couple of the dialogue teasers:

"It is rare to find beauty and humour in a woman" is indeed Louis to Milady

“The mob are rampaging through Paris, murdering anyone with a Spanish name” is Treville to the Musketeers

    ReplyDelete
  54. I should hope they will, given the amount of flak they're getting over this year's fiasco....

    ReplyDelete
  55. In fairness so is her husband...although no one could suggest that he's romantically involved with her either! lol. I was hoping for a friendship. I wanted her to have an ally at Court. However, I could have foreseen a hot headed D'Artagnan getting completely the wrong end of the stick. There's no way they would have gone there.

    ReplyDelete
  56. I think he's pretty emotionally threatened already, as a result of her decision to return to Bonacieux. Despite the fact he knows she loved him (and we know she still does). For me, it's not D'Artagnan who needs to prove his feelings, it's Constance. As Knitty42 says, when he kissed Lucie, not only had Constance said goodbye to him, she'd also told him to leave her alone. Pretty definitive really and yet he still couldn't watch her walk away without reaching out to her once again. He clearly adores her. It's past high time that she gave some of that love back to him.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Sandi can I ask a quick question? For my own curiosity, I remember you mentioning that some parts of the dialogue might be embargoed. How does that work? When you receive the preview tapes of the episodes is it made clear that certain aspects of the story are not for advance publication?

    ReplyDelete
  58. “There is not a drop of French blood running in your veins” - Raymond (Charles Venn's character) to Anne

    ReplyDelete
  59. I don't get why they did this mess. I mean, i don't know what happens in other country, but here in Italy when they broadcasted S1 i've honestly lost count of how many times i saw a musketeers' promo on television. And we got 4 different promo, one for each of the boys, so i assumed bbc was doing something like that... but apparently not at all.

    ReplyDelete
  60. / And we got 4 different promo, one for each of the boys /

    I'm moving to Italy.

    :P

    ReplyDelete
  61. If memory serves in the UK ahead of series one there was extensive promotion, including individual promos for each of the boys. They just seem to have decided not to bother for series 2. Why, I have absolutely no idea, as they've essentially wasted the series. I suspect the move to Friday night cost 1-2 million in audience alone.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Ahahaha xD
The four promo were the best part, but we did a mess in our own way too . (Like broadcasting all last four episodes in one night and cutting some parts of the episodes. Luckily, very tiny parts like some phrases, but it was still bad and nonsensical.)

    ReplyDelete
  63. "They just seem to have decided not to bother for series 2. Why, I have
absolutely no idea, as they've essentially wasted the series."

    Exactly.
Network are still a mistery to me.

    ReplyDelete
  64. They also rather screwed up the website, updating the character pictures but not the bios, like saying Constance is 'having the time of her life' when she clearly isn't by series 2. It's 90% S1 with a lacklustre bit of added content from S2. It's all so half-hearted.

    ReplyDelete
  65. The Musketeer's bios are also pretty much exactly the same as they were last year. The whole thing just smacks of minimal effort. There doesn't appear to be any commercial smarts about it at all. Irrespective of the levels of international sales, why on earth would you essentially burn off a series domestically? It makes absolutely no sense.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Great news indeed... :)

Just copy and pasting what I said in the other thread..

Miamie McCoy told a fan at the Apple store that the show was on a '3 year options' contract, which would suggest that Adrian had three seasons planned out, with the option of more seasons if the viewing figures were good. As they are, Adrian will possibly have to view season 3 as being the last and end the various characters' storylines accordingly - which for D'Artagnan means moving towards his legendry status and who knows what for the other three. I think war and Cardinal Mazarin will play vital roles in any S3.

    ReplyDelete
  67. The trouble is, the viewing figures for S1 dropped from 9 million at the beginning to 5 million in the end - and that's consolidated, overnights were down to just 3.9 million by the series final, which doesn't look good to many people on a Sunday evening .. I think the BBC's biggest mistake was telling the producers to make an 8pm show but putting it out at 9pm, resulting in a confused tone for the audience. I also think many people tuned into S1 just to see Peter Capaldi, who'd recently been announced as the new Doctor Who...

I think The Muskereers has suffered from bad luck in several ways, despite being just as worthy as shows such as Downton Abbey.

    ReplyDelete
  68. “Now there’s something you don’t see every day” - Porthos to Aramis and Athos

    ReplyDelete
  69. I must admit I didn't think he was that much older than her - I'm useless with ages! Like Scoobie, I thought it would be nice for Constance and Lamay to become friends. Just for her to have someone else at court that she can relate too, other than Anne. However, as Tigercheetah has said, there would be nothing gained by having a jealous d'Artagnan. There are already way too many barriers in the way, so there is no point adding another.

    ReplyDelete
  70. All correct guesses so far have been filled in :)

    ReplyDelete
  71. I wonder whether D'Artagnan or Aramis may be injured in some way during the episode? It would seem strange, given that Aramis is a bit of a dab hand with a needle, that anyone would be calling for a surgeon to come to the Garrison. Unless, it was Aramis who needed help, or he was unavailable. We know from hangman 1, that Constance shares an important scene or two with Lemay during the episode. So I wonder whether D'Artagnan might be hurt in some way and she won't leave his side. Leading Lemay to see her feelings for the Musketeer and perhaps to remark on it.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Some scenes on episodes get specificity embargoes, then the BBC write and tell you what they are alongside with the episode on the site. Generally though it's pretty obvious and you use your own judgement. Any twists or things that will spoil the storyline too much are obviously a no no.

For example, Milady and Louis was an obvious embargoed detail, but the stolen photos that were leaked early from that episode gave it away. Which caused a lot of disappointment for all concerned.

    ReplyDelete
  73. You kind of sum up what I mean in your first sentence really. It's been too dangerous for them to talk until now :)

    ReplyDelete
  74. Thanks Sandi. Not bad going with the guess work at this stage in the week! :)

    ReplyDelete
  75. You could be right - Wasn't there a photo from Jess with d'Artagnan and his arm in a sling? Perhaps, the injury happens at the Inn/tavern. Perhaps, it is, Constance that says "You know Lamay, the surgeon? Find him and bring him to the garrison"?

    ReplyDelete
  76. Hmm, I don't think so. He has a couple with a few of them though.

    ReplyDelete
  77. “When you truly love someone all the tricks in the world don’t matter” Aramis to Constance

    ReplyDelete
  78. You're welcome.

They have a scene together, well it's two technically as it's in two slightly different locations, but they led into one overall scene. It is brief - as I say in the preview the episode focuses on the story in the main and throws out hints here and there to the seasons arcs - but it does move them forward a bit. Plus I think the way Constance behaves in another scene shows her true feelings :)

    ReplyDelete
  79. Helen, it would now seem that the "When you truly love someone all the tricks in the world don't matter" isn't Athos to D'Art....heck.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Well, we're moving forward. It may be at a glacial pace but we are clearly moving forward. That's all good. I'm now putting my eggs in a basket marked Episode Six. :)

    ReplyDelete
  81. I know, I was dead cert that was the right one! :(

    ReplyDelete
  82. Hmm, there isn't a lot of banter but they have a few chats together as a group and make plans. There's one in the sneak peek, a couple in the middle and another at the end of the episode as a conclusion. Then there's also one with just two of them and Constance which is very brief, but shows a deep level of trust and understanding between them.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Let's go big or go home and say, "When you truly love someone, all the tricks in the world don't matter". D'Artagnan to Constance.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Not bad at all :)

I'm gonna have to shoot off, migraine is threatening I'm afraid! I do have an idea for a hangman though, so will get on that tomorrow xx

    ReplyDelete
  85. Aw that's horrible. Take it easy and be well friend.:)

    ReplyDelete
  86. Remember, that's meant to be a good episode according to Adrian! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  87. Set in one location....fingers crossed for a four poster bed. Lol

    ReplyDelete
  88. Many thanks for this. I wondered how it worked.

    ReplyDelete
  89. Lol...As long as we don't find out the whole episode is a dream! :)

    ReplyDelete
  90. They wouldn't dare!!!

    ReplyDelete
  91. poor thing, hope you feel better I have suffered from them since I can remember

    ReplyDelete
  92. The hangman has been added, I have tried to make it an easier one as it's later than usual :)

    ReplyDelete
  93. I'm probably showing my age by knowing how old Ed Stoppard is, his mum was on the TV quite a lot when I was younger, lol. I think his parents split up around the time Tamla was possibly born, early '90s? If it wasn't for his parents being so famous I don't think I would have guessed his age though to be honest.

    ReplyDelete
  94. I'd say there is two stories running, though they do intertwine to some extent along the way as all good main and secondary plots are meant to. That's part of the reason I think it works so well as an episode - they come together at the end successfully. The characteristics of the Musketeers are also hinted at too in places, without banging you over the head needlessly, which I enjoyed :)

    ReplyDelete
  95. Hi adjective :) You have one person speaking correct and one person being spoken to correct in there.

I know they are a bit tough this week so I'm going to give a hint out on the penultimate one and say that watching the promo might help with who says it ;)

    ReplyDelete
  96. Hi Amanda, welcome to the site :)

    ReplyDelete
  97. Haha, it's been a while coming. There's actually quite a lot of 'couples' scenes in this episode, either directly or in conversation with others.

    ReplyDelete
  98. Thanks Sandi - hope you're feeling better today ;)

    ReplyDelete
  99. Sorry for the brief reply yesterday :) To expand a little, Rochefort has scenes alone with five people, but none are Musketeers. I'm not sure why they are keeping them apart in that regard, possibly they would see through him too easily? I know that there is something coming up in the future that will be interesting on this front though however, I can't wait to see it myself.

    ReplyDelete
  100. From the promo I've seen it's a very, very intriguing set up! I can't wait to see it, it looks to be an enchanting episode.

    ReplyDelete
  101. Thanks @Scoobie and @athena1008 Some Imigran & sleep did the trick :) Side effect of the MS unfortunately. I get quite a few, especially if like yesterday I try and do too much :/

    ReplyDelete
  102. Yes thank you Helen, gonna take it a bit more easy today though, lol ;)

    ReplyDelete
  103. Also he's a hottie. :)

    ReplyDelete
  104. Can't argue with that ;) As a drama student in the late '80s/early '90s I had a bit of a thing for his dad too, lol.

    ReplyDelete
  105. This is music to my ears! I am very much looking forward to Friday!

    ReplyDelete
  106. "I think the BBC's biggest mistake was telling the producers to make an
8pm show but putting it out at 9pm, resulting in a confused tone for the
    audience"
    Amen.
This is a so silly mistake, and bad luck was the last thing we needed.
This show deserve so much more... honestly, i can live with the loss of Peter Capaldi. I liked him and i liked the Cardinal, but Marc Warren is just so good that i don't feel lost, it's like there's only been a change of path (for me, of course).
But it's like bbc didn't even tried to intrigue new potential viewers.

    ReplyDelete
  107. We've had news of the boys and Constance in the hangmans (is that a word?! Hangmen?!) - could this one be about Rochefort/Milady?

    ReplyDelete
  108. "Now there's something you don't see every day" - that sounds like a comment that Aramis would make but I'm not sure who to, perhaps Anne or Constance?

    ReplyDelete
  109. Yep, correct. That's saved me putting up a rather elaborate picture clue, lol

    ReplyDelete
  110. I'll open it up with a guess at the beginning if the first sentence, "Someone wants Rochefort dead."

    ReplyDelete
  111. Yay!!!😄 I've no doubt the usual Clue Crew will soon be on board.

    ReplyDelete
  112. Second line, "is prepared to"...?

    ReplyDelete
  113. What?!?! Become busy and neglect this site and all the good news shows up! I'll stay away until Friday.....maybe then you will get an official announcement. =)

    ReplyDelete
  114. I'm loving the sound of "enchanting". I know you can't give two much away and I completely understand but baring in mind I'm planning to put all my Constagnan eggs in this particular basket....I'm I likely to end up egg-less or MIGHT I still have enough for a small omelette? :) :) Lol.

    ReplyDelete
  115. To be honest, I don't really know. I've come to not really trust anything I see in a promo over the years if I'm honest, they tend to be distorted generally. They are both present, that I can say with certainty, lol.

    ReplyDelete
  116. Niiiice! I'm suddenly looking quite forward to this episode…

    ReplyDelete
  117. Ahhhh, interesting. I'm with you in trusting promos. Much as she's been a gem with all the pics etc. I'm still not completely sure I've forgiven Jessica for that photo of Constagnan kissing, released before last year's series finale. Talk about being killed by false hope! At least they feature in the promo. I'll also stick my neck out and guess that they are at least being portrayed in a romantic light. Frankly, if we don't get some pretty significant developments on episide six, I just can't see them having any time to take this anywhere this year.

    ReplyDelete
  118. Overall, as far as Constagnan are concerned, episodes 1-5 have been a dissapointment. Not only are they getting limited screentime together but when they are together, Constance is coming across as being cool towards d'Artagnan - despite the saucy dream in episode 1. It's going to take a significant push in episodes 6 and 7 to undo that dissapoint I think..

On a positive note, I do think S2 is a better show than S1 :) it's just a shame to have lost a bit of the humour and romance along the way..

    ReplyDelete
  119. I have to be honest, I'm incredibly disappointed with Constagnan this year so far. I'm not sure how you could enjoy this aspect of the series and fail to be. If I'd told you as we waited for series two that by episode four all we'd have was a dream sequence, an argument, a look and a fleeting moment in a corridor, you'd have thought I was crazy. I'm not sure that I understand their purpose in neglecting quite so badly, such a popular dynamic. Romance is a key element of the Musketeers story and the Constance and D'Artagnan love story is a classic. They're also blessed with great chemistry between Tamla and Luca who knock their scenes out if the park every time. They may have improved other aspects of the drama but for me, this has been a hugely disappointing.

    ReplyDelete
  120. If the writers are keeping Rochefort away from the Musketeers on a more one-on-one basis on purpose - for reasons of plot - I suppose that's fair enough :) same with Constance seemingly keeping Rochefort's bullying nature away from D'Artagnan..

It's just a bit weird when you consider that in tradition, Rochefort has always had more personal relationships with the Musketeers, whether it's hating them like in the films or even becoming D'Artagnan's friend like in the novel.. I'd hate to think Adrian has abandoned this element altogether and it's only Athos's handshake in episode 1 that gave me hope otherwise.

    ReplyDelete
  121. I'm not sure if everyone saw the hint I gave out yesterday about this line - “The Inquisition would know how to stop her tongue” - but watching the promo might help make it more obvious who is saying it.

As another hint, this line can be related back to one of the previous hangman from last week - “When you truly love someone all the tricks in the world don’t matter” and "Do you want to be alone?" is linked to the other one :)

    ReplyDelete
  122. Is that 'dangerous' for the sixth word of the last line?

    ReplyDelete
  123. None of the ships from S1 have had any movement really when you think about it. Constagnan have had the most screen time even though it hasn't been exactly positive. I don't know what's ahead for them, but for me I think we've needed that break between them for a couple of reasons.

Firstly it has made the stark difference between the affair that is going on between Louis/Milady (and to a certain extent Aramis/Marguerite) as being a bad thing and what they are doing as a chaste and the right thing to be doing. If they had started up again so soon after she said that she was going back to her husband then it would make a bit of a mockery of her character for me, the constant back and forth/not making her mind up on the situation. Secondly, it has allowed the first half of the season to set up other characters, and their own, in the slightly different change of pace of the show.

It could well be that whatever happens in this two part finale is what finally changes the situation, rather than anything before it? We already know how they both feel, it's just the obstacles that are in the way.

    ReplyDelete
  124. No, they aren't being romantic in the promo. I'm dying for them to bring out the Press Release for that week, I want to know what the heck is going on tbh, lol.

    ReplyDelete
  125. "Do you want to be alone?" d'Artagnan to Athos?

    ReplyDelete
  126. Correct! And of course, the answer is no :)

    ReplyDelete
  127. I really hope that others enjoy it as much as I did :)

    ReplyDelete
  128. I remember Adrian saying (I think in the Geek Syndicate interview?) that although he was using the Rochefort character, he was rewriting him almost entirely as a new villain. I guess due to the fact that he needed someone to corrupt Louis and shake things up at court, lol.

I still get the impression he hates the Musketeers, but he's doing it from afar. He's a clever man and I think he realised after that first mission that he wouldn't be able to take them on one at a time. They are a brotherhood who will watch out for each other. Therefore he has decided to turn the king against them instead as he is such a fool - he is the weak link in the chain, so to speak, lol.

But like I say, there is something coming up in episode six that will force the issue by the looks of it, which should be interesting to see.

    ReplyDelete
  129. be/prepared/to/see/him/become/....
    ?

    ReplyDelete
  130. You're probably right :)
Jessica did say that S2 would be "more romantic" but that's not how it's coming across so far, so I think hopes were getting a little high as far as Constagnan are concerned - including my own - and to a lesser degree fans of Aramis and Anne. I am disappointed that Constance and d'Artagnan aren't even shown as good friends, they just don't have much screentime at all right now..
Of course, now that we're nearly half way through the series - I'm assuming episode 5 has little or no Constance, Milady or Anne in it - the second half of the series should be more rewarding as far as ships go, certainly Constagnan and maybe Athos & Milady too - though they can never be together again.

    ReplyDelete
  131. I'm waiting for the Aramis/Anne/baby reveal to happen, though that might have nothing to do with what you've seen of episode 6 so far. :)

    ReplyDelete
  132. I think also the lack of momentum, thanks to the BBC's abysmal scheduling decisions, has taken some of the steam out of, well, everything. You can't get excited about a possible 'will they, won't they' if the will they is one week and the won't they is a month later. I'm having to regularly rewatch their S1 scenes + the dream sequence just to remember there was actually passion there once. You're right that they're going to have to pull of a blinder to bring it back for Constagnan in the second half of S2. :(

    ReplyDelete
  133. You have to wonder who exactly Jess was talking about, coz there's no indication of any romance *anywhere* so far, and I really can't see Part 2 having much time for it, if I'm perfectly honest. Constagnan are so unromantic right now they might as well just give up bothering, and again there's hardly likely to be time for any proper romance even if they do get their acts together in eps 6+.

I can't see 'romantic' being a word we're likely to use over Milouis ('ew' is more appropriate), and ditto Rochefort's disturbing obsession with the Queen. The last thing Aramis needs this year is romance, Porthos has other issues to deal with, and unless the lovely Captain has a secret lady stashed away somewhere, 'romantic' it ain't. Maybe the odd moment might have some cuteness in it, but it's strange she's saying the series as a whole will do.

    ReplyDelete
  134. That's a good point..

It appears I need to lower my expectations when it comes to Constagnan, I just hope the final episodes have been worth the wait and that Constagnan are clearly very happy to be together at last..

    ReplyDelete
  135. Leading up to that: If/you/think/he/was/dangerous/before,/be/prepared/to/see/him/become....
    ?

    ReplyDelete
  136. I think there has been romance, just not with Constagnan. Aramis & Marguerite and Louis & Milady have become couples after all. Then there's the chivalrous romance aspect, which is very strongly represented this year. Especially with d'Artagnan's heroic deeds, and at the end of episode 2 handing over the purse of money to the widow and talking to the daughter.

    ReplyDelete
  137. The one thing I know about ships is the more popular and deserving the couple are to be together, the longer the writers tend to make the fans wait for that moment :( Crappy for the fans I know...

    ReplyDelete
  138. That's true, if it weren't for football not only would we have seen episode 4 by now, we'd be three days away from episode 5 and have a basic synopsis for episode 6.

Still, we're making progress now, starting to reach the more climatic half of the series.

    ReplyDelete
  139. this one "The Inquisition would know how to
stop her tongue” said by Navas perhaps ??

    ReplyDelete
  140. I think his name was mentioned one or two times in the 3rd episode

    ReplyDelete
  141. Ah. I hadn't even noticed him, let alone caught a name!

    ReplyDelete
  142. He's always with the spanish ambassador

    ReplyDelete
  143. Maybe so, but with the second half still way off in some dim-distant, 'is it ever going to happen' future, I'm worried I'm starting to lose interest. I seriously love this show, but the stop-start cr** going on with the Beeb scheduling, added to what I see as not very much movement in the plot itself for the first 3 eps (not to mention some very dodgy performances from a couple of usually reliable actors) has me more frustrated than I've been in a long time, with any show. I can't even get excited about a potentially confirmed S3, because I don't trust the BBC not to screw it up, under-promote it like they have this year and ruin its chance of gaining new fans. I'm starting to lose faith in the writers too after the car-crash that was episode 3 (sorry, but it was). With all their jubilation at making it a more 'adult', darker season, something's been lost between S1 and S2, and I'm just hoping against hope that it'll reappear in a few episodes' time, otherwise I'm not sure I'll make it to the finale.

    :(

    ReplyDelete
  144. Here are my guesses:

“When you truly love someone all the tricks in the world don’t matter” Athos to D'artagnan or D'artagnan to Athos.

"Do you want to be alone?" Constance to Anne or Anne to Constance.

    ReplyDelete
  145. This is only the beginning Rochefort
    did musketeers get season 3

    ReplyDelete
  146. I'm afraid not. The second one has been correctly filled in now, which will probably help thou :)

    ReplyDelete
  147. Yeah, he appeared for the first time in the third episode, he's Perales assistant. He was the guy who faced off against the Musketeers when they came back with reinforcements after rescuing Samara and going back for her father. He's also in the promo for episode 4 :)

    ReplyDelete
  148. "When you truly love someone all the tricks in the world don’t matter"...Aramis to Queen Anne
    My wishful thinking.
BTW...I tried to post a few times but this site blocked me for some reason. So if I have made a duplicate post or two please forgive me. And delete LOL

    ReplyDelete
  149. so he plays a part on this episode ? o

    ReplyDelete
  150. “When you truly love someone all the tricks in the world don’t matter” Milady to Athos?

    ReplyDelete
  151. I had the same earlier Lucy - tried to post but wouldn't let me. :(

    ReplyDelete
  152. Zuzana SedlákováJanuary 28, 2015 at 9:27 PM

“This is only the beginning” could it be Athos to Milady?

    ReplyDelete
  153. Nice one Tigercheetah.:)

    ReplyDelete
  154. I had poison as well - been looking at it for ages with that there. 'Person' sounds much better. :)

    ReplyDelete
  155. Well, Tamla's vid has helped allay a few fears, but I'm still concerned about the BBC messing it up, and that worry is partly what's stopping me from really enjoying and looking forward to the rest of it. I'm not jumping ship yet, though - 4 and 5 look like exciting, and hopefully once we get past all the stupid Friday night delays, we can start building up some momentum.

    ReplyDelete
  156. Good guess! And to extend that could it be 'the wrong person to perform the deed'?

    ReplyDelete
  157. I know how you feel Knitty42 but please stick with it if you can. After seeing Tamla's take on Constagnan and Maimie's interesting comments about Milady, I think the later half of the series could be a rewarding experience.

    ReplyDelete
  158. I've been having weird problems today with posting - some of my posts aren't appearing.

    ReplyDelete
  159. [reposted above bc I didn't want to wait for approval]

    ReplyDelete
  160. You had a lot more than me - I'm struggling to make anything out of it. I was wondering if it was Count or Court (but that would be in small letters, wouldn't it?) ;)

    ReplyDelete
  161. Could the first ?? be 'employed'?

    ReplyDelete
  162. Ah, it could be - it's been all guess work this week ;)

    ReplyDelete
  163. “When you truly love someone all the tricks in the world don’t matter” Constance to Anne (or if not Anne, perhaps Aramis)?

    ReplyDelete
  164. I was thinking it might be Athos to Milady or Milady to Athos.

    ReplyDelete
  165. Wow. The promos must be getting ever more bizarre!😄 I thought the one for Emilie was like some stream if consciousness nightmare. Well, if there's no sign of romance, on the basis of the twisted logic of the average promo, episode six will see them get back together.

    ReplyDelete
  166. This is out there but how about Rochfort to MiLady

    ReplyDelete
  167. Disqus is reporting any known issues, so I'm not sure what the problem is. The only thing I can think of is that you're possibly not verified and it's having a wobbly at the amount of comments you've made perhaps? Try clicking the link and see if you are verified?

    http://www.disqus.com/verify

    ReplyDelete
  168. The speaker is correct, but not who he is talking to

    ReplyDelete
  169. Hmm, is your account verified? If so, a comment shouldn't ever need to be approved beforehand. You can check by clicking this link if you aren't sure either way

    http://www.disqus.com/verify

    ReplyDelete
  170. Yep, it's Constance to Anne. As hinted at in the hangman :)

    ReplyDelete
  171. You are almost there. I have just realised that there is one * too many in the second sentence in that missing word, which means that you most likely have that one fully, lol.

    ReplyDelete
  172. “When you truly love someone all the tricks in the world don’t matter” Emilie to Constance

    ReplyDelete
  173. ...and again, "hold on, this is waiting to be approved"...so I'll try this again:

    ReplyDelete
  174. I'll go for "the" Comte then? ;)

    ReplyDelete
  175. I just checked, it is verified. I've had that problem a few times before, especially when I write longer comments and use a lot of *** in them. System probably thinks I'm writing R-rated stuff here...lol

    ReplyDelete
  176. I was thinking about that, too (as well as "recruits"), but no matter which word I come up with, it always has a letter in it that has already been used (in this case, it's the "p"). Same for pretty much all the other words we're missing, whatever I come up with only works if there's one letter more or if I use a letter that's been used already (ok, I realize the fact that I can't come up with anything better doesn't mean ANYTHING...lol It's just a tiny bit frustrating to stare at it and come up with NOTHING that works when half the sentence's already solved...lol You'd think it couldn't be THAT hard...).

    ReplyDelete
  177. Thanks Sandi - I've checked and I'm verified. It seems to be working ok now, so hopefully just a glitch yesterday. :)

    ReplyDelete
  178. Can tomorrow come faster!?

    ReplyDelete
  179. Zuzana SedlákováJanuary 29, 2015 at 1:37 PM

    Sooo.. Athos to... d'Artagnan?

    ReplyDelete
  180. Ahh, that could be what it is. It may think you're a spammer. It does look like it was throwing a bit of a wobbly last night though for some reason as it was acting up for a few people. Nothing was on their website though, which was odd. One of those things I guess :s

    ReplyDelete
  181. The bits that are right are:

Someone wants Rochefort dead but c****** the wrong person to perform the deed, **/**/c*u***/***/*******/*****.. This only infuriates the Comte. If you think he was dangerous before, be prepared to see him become even more *****u*/and/c***.

    ReplyDelete
  182. I'm afraid not, it's already been conformed in the comments as to who it is :)

    ReplyDelete
  183. I'm afraid not. Think of the hangman clues again ;)

    ReplyDelete
  184. I loved that part of the episode. Please tell me if Luke's tears were real or part of the script? I won't care either way as it shows d'Artagnan's depth of emotions. Along with his quick look to Constance at the Christening. xoxo

    ReplyDelete
  185. Hi Trena, welcome to the site! I imagine they were scripted, but Luca is very good when it comes to portraying the emotional side of his characters so I think they would have come naturally as he performed the scene :)

    ReplyDelete
  186. Someone wants Rochefort dead but chooses entirely the wrong person to
perform the deed, so of course the venture fails. This only infuriates the Comte. If you think he was dangerous before, be prepared to see him become even more serious and...cold? calm?

I still tend towards crazy with Rochefort, but I think we've established that's not it...lol
