FORMER Hollyoaks babe Gemma Atkinson could be the new Supergirl in a major US TV series.

She is waiting to hear whether she has been cast as the lead in a CBS show based on the 1984 film.

We had revealed Gemma, who our artists have mocked up as the superhero, was lined up for an Emmerdale role. But if she cops the cape, that won’t happen. A source close to her said: “Gemma is a huge fan of comic books so this is something she’d jump at. It will make her huge Stateside.

    She doesnt look the part at all. She could be powergirl not Supergirl. She looks like a porn star. i for one dont want Kara to look like this. And she is also out of the age range(The casting call were looking for 22-26 years old actress) she is 30. The sun is not the reliable source to begin with

    I remember her from Hollyoaks. And the lasted night spin off show. And while she may have improved since then, this girl does not have the acting chops to pull off this role, especially as the lead of a show. One of the many actresses cast on Hollyoaks based on looks before talent, so please know. Plus the idea that she's torn between a role on Emmerdale and leading a Supergirl television series stateside, is completely ridiculous. Go back to soap land where you belong Gemma.

    Yep, with an unknown you can go in fresh and just sit back and enjoy the performance. If you're familiar with the actor/actress it's sometimes harder to separate them from the role you've seen them in.
    Holt already played a character with super powers. I don't think she's a bad choice. Had I not already seen her in VD or TO I'd have no problem with her at all.
