What ??
ReplyDeleteI get why they have to do this (because of OUAT's diffusion) but why a clip show ?
By the way, Paul Lee has pretty much annonced a season 5 today. Yay !
He has...? How?
ReplyDeleteDon't take that for anything. He says that for all shows. Pretty much all network execs do
ReplyDeleteSo it's a clip show to air before the last episode to attract enough viewers to the finale to warrant a season five pick up.
ReplyDeleteWell nice that we will be getting one more episode of revenge but will this be the series finale (two hours)?
ReplyDeleteHe hasn't, he didn't say it's cancelled and trusts the show. So the same shit like for all shows. It's pretty much in the danger zone.
ReplyDeleteSo it is Not even an original episode if i understood correctly?
ReplyDeleteWhat is a Clip show hybrid?!?
ReplyDeleteI was wondering as well. I have never heard that
ReplyDeleteSo,people is automatically gonna tune to watch a random episode of a serialized show just coz they showed some clips?
ReplyDeleteIt's a clip show, not a proper episode then. Waste of time, that'll get 0.5
ReplyDeleteI think like that Castle episode, not sure if you've watched it.
ReplyDeleteThink they want to use the possible S&L boost to reintroduce what happened in the previous eps so people could jump on the train again. At least that is the vibe I get!
ReplyDeletei think it means all the good and memorable clips packed into a 42 min episode, kinda like a final farewell to the fans.
ReplyDeleteProbably but who knows
ReplyDeleteWell both abc and the revenge writers already know its fate yet they seem not to want to announce it. WHY?!?!?! Pls let us just know!!!
ReplyDeleteNo one new is going to jump in at this point TBH,points for trying though!
ReplyDelete100% with you
ReplyDeleteAll he said was the Revenge is a "critical brand" for ABC and that the show could be reinvented in some way, which I took to mean the writers might have an ending this season for the Victoria/Grayson plotline.
ReplyDeleteI mean for the last week i was so convinced it was going to be cancelled but all this stuff here is just confusing me. Paul Lee needs to step it up a bit
ReplyDeleteThat's why i choose whether to watch a new ABC shows coz they are late in everything-Renewal news, cancellation news etc.
ReplyDeleteWhy can't they just announce this is the final season? This has series finale written all over it.
ReplyDeleteDesperation sucks! I mean it is sad! The show got better this season and delivered some really good episodes!
ReplyDeleteIt is so ridiciolous!
ReplyDeleteI quit it after episode 10,but i heard episode 11 & 12 was real good.
ReplyDeleteI've asked the representative when this will air and have yet to hear back.
ReplyDeleteI Would like to Share the Joy but Unfortunately i don't think it means anything Paul Lee said today
ReplyDeleteThx for doing all this though!!!!!
ReplyDeleteYou are welcome.
ReplyDeleteAbc is really torturing the revenge Fans with all this. If this is all leading up to the series finale, THEN JUST ANNOUNCE IT!!!! How hard can that be?!
ReplyDeleteI Googled it and i found nothing
ReplyDeletePut us out of goddamn misery!
ReplyDelete11 was mind blowing. I just liked how they handled the whole dead Daniel situation in the main group. First time I really enjoyed Victoria, usually she is frigid to watch, at least for me. But that episode I really felt for her.
ReplyDelete12 was also good, some nice game changers and the cliffhanger mindblowing.
In the past the clip shows have always picked up Revenge ratings.
ReplyDeleteThe first one upped Revenge from 2.1 to 2.4, then in between seasons, the following show increased its ratings from 2.4 to 3.2. And finally, a clip show done online upped the ratings once again from 1.7 to 2.0.
Every time ABC has done a clip show for Revenge, recapping the events of the series, the ratings pick up. I don't think Revenge will do greatly with a clip show, but it may up the ratings a few tenths
Yes!!!! I want to know if i really have to prepare for the end soon and can just forget the ratings or if there is a slight Chance of a short season 5 (which i highly doubt! )
ReplyDeleteSo it Has nth to do with shows ending?
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't take a fifth season for granted by what he said; he basically said he is not promt to cancel it, but that doesn't mean he won't
ReplyDeleteMaybe because the season 4 finale is the end of Emily/Victoria but not necessarily the end of the show ( reboot with new characters... )
ReplyDeleteDon't know.
ReplyDeleteTBH I Would Not watch then anymore. No emily and victoria would make the show dead, don't you think?
ReplyDeleteI guess it is Not a two hour series finale then...
ReplyDeleteBut now it's gone beyond the point of damage.I mean, every fans keep telling how these past 2 episodes have been great, but it has scored 0.9 & 0.8 on both that episodes.I blame the crappy scheduling but still that's horrible numbers. Its done sadly IMO.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if this going to be either:
ReplyDelete1-A recap of everything done in Revenge to bid farewall.
2-A "do you remember that time?" kind of episode in which the characters reflect on what has happened thus far, showing like 5 minutes of new footage mixed in with old footage.
3-The use of old footage, but with a narration from various characters to show mutliple perspectives while also recapping what has happened
It still may be, if the clip show is episode 21, for instance, then episodes 22 and 23 can act the double series finale if ABC wants to do that
ReplyDeleteI pick option 1.
ReplyDeleteIn season 1 and 2 they actually had Clip shows but what makes me angry is that abc and the writers know what will happen with the show and we don't get to know. There is a reason why they are doing this
ReplyDeleteIt is done, I just say that it can pick up a few extra tenths with it.
ReplyDeleteThe best case scenario is that Revenge can come back to 1.2, and that is still unlikely at this point
Yes. I'll watch is the cast is good. But a potential reboot is maybe why Paul Lee doesn't want to say if it's the finale season.
ReplyDeleteOh true :D
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing they got abducted, seeing how the next episode is titled Abduction.
ReplyDeleteI think he would just cancel it then.
ReplyDeleteGuys, if he wanted to end Revenge this season he would announce it months ago to the writers because it's the kind of show that needs a really big ending. He can't cancel it like that.
ReplyDeleteSo I think the show is likely to be renewed.
You just answered it yourself but it was one hell of a cliffhanger and next week will be violent! Rated TV-14 V
ReplyDeleteYou're being very optimistic here!
ReplyDeleteThe thing is i think the writers know already and i do not get why we don't get to know
ReplyDeleteYes but the way it went down was really nicely executed.
ReplyDeleteIt was great. Emily vs Victoria is always great
ReplyDeleteABC has cancelled shows abruptly in the past, I wouldn't be so optimistic
ReplyDeleteEmily has to live for Revenge to continue, the only possible ways to reboot the show is by having Emily taking revenge on someone else... which is kind of what happened on season 2 and now on season 4. Since the show is not an anthology series they can't change it that dramaticly just like that
ReplyDeleteYep, and the way it went down was amazing: there was a spark that I hadn't feel with Revenge for a while
ReplyDeleteYes but these show did not had a complicated story like Revenge to wrap up.
ReplyDeleteI'm still sad about V
ReplyDeleteNo one would care about that if the show doesn't have enough ratings to back it up.TV world doesn't work that way!
ReplyDeleteFlashForward did
ReplyDeleteThe show is still very popular even though ABC's ratings are low.
ReplyDeleteThe problem is ABC doesn't make money out of popular, it makes money out of ad rates which are defined by ratings.
ReplyDeleteThe other way it makes money is by syndication, so Revenge needs a really strong syndication package to justify a renewal, but that seems rather unlikely
this just screams false hope.
ReplyDeleteWhich means absolutely nothing for renewal in reality.
ReplyDeleteWhat if they did a recast and Charlotte was the revengee, they did have her doing some ass kicking before rehab and she could avenge maybe for death of dad/mother or sister depending on how season 4 ends.
ReplyDeleteFuming. Still fuming.
ReplyDeleteIt's sad I hate these numbers for revenge, I just want it to go back up to the 1.1-1.3 levels but sadly unlikely
ReplyDeleteI don't remember them cancelling a really popular drama veteran.
ReplyDeleteOne season though.
ReplyDeleteYeah but the 2 hour finale would be for OUAT not Revenge. Revenge will air 8 episodes behind Secrets and Lies, then Once has 2 episodes left and Revenge 1.
ReplyDeleteUgly Betty. It was 4 seasons in and 88 episodes just like Revenge
ReplyDeleteIf they air a recap on March 8 it will be my dream come true, I have thought of that ever since the announcement of the 2 hour Secrets and Lies. Also happy that no matter when this airs, Revenge finale (season or series) will air after the (2 hour) Once finale.
ReplyDeleteThat was announced on January, not a May cancellation.
ReplyDeleteThis means S4 will end ona huge cliffhanger for s5 If the show gets it and be the 5 the final season?¿
ReplyDeleteDidn't remember that, I thought it was cancelled.
ReplyDeleteWhat about Brothers and Sisters? Was that the same scenario?
Also, BoP was a veteran and got canned.
That was May but it was more about cost. They tried to do an abrieviated sixth season but because of how expensive the show had gotten it wasn't possible.
ReplyDeleteikr. its annoying, why do this to fans when its fate seems to hang into balance. Fans want closure
ReplyDeleteI just looked it up, and it was not renewed / canceled on May 13, after the finale aired. But I think it didn't end with cliffhangers.
ReplyDeleteFound from Google.
ReplyDeleteA clip show is an episode of a television series that consists primarily of excerpts from previous episodes. Most clip shows feature the format of a frame story in which cast members recall past events from past installments of the show, depicted with a clip of the event presented as a flashback.
For anyone wondering what a Clip Show episode is.

Thanks for the info.
ReplyDeleteI have a feeling that they may not wanna announce it. I mean how much better would the series finale be, if we don't know it's ending. This is the type of series where how it ends would be the best part. So if it literally ended and with closure without us knowing until the end, it would be so much better.
ReplyDeleteMaybe to give them more time to prepare a perfect series finale. But surprised they haven´t announced it as the final season, maybe there will be a short 5th season but I doubt it VERY much with the awful ratings.
ReplyDeleteWith my experience, they have until the end of January to cancel it.
ReplyDeleteExactly, they cancelled it at the end of January and they had 10 episodes to write the finale and it´s the best sereis finale I´ve seen as of now.
ReplyDeleteFunny you bring B&S up, since I am finally catching up on the show, ha. I was stuck in mid S4 for a year now and now I'm like six episodes into last season (S5) :(
ReplyDeleteYou mean the one in the second half of S1 (1.20 as I recall, though I'm not sure)? The one in which 80% of the episode consisted of flashbacks to the time when Emily arrived to the Hamptons and worked her first party at the Graysons?
ReplyDeleteBut what if it's the other way round, lol?
ReplyDeleteHave they confirmed that Once season finale will be 2 hour long again?
ReplyDeleteFrom what I can gather, the decision to order this additional clip show episode seems to be based on scheduling. After January, Revenge will only have 8 episodes left to air without the Clip Show, while OUAT has 11 episodes, and Secrets and Lies has 10. So I think the Clip Show is to even out the schedule a bit. In fact, Revenge's March return is already delayed a week via making Secrets and Lies a two hour premiere the first week of March instead. As a side note, expect them to take Easter Sunday off, as Adam Horowitz tweeted that OUAT would be taking off that week, so it would make sense if the other two shows do too. And for that reason, I'm expecting Secrets and Lie to end a week before both shows, while OUAT has another 2 hour Season finale similar to last year.
ReplyDeleteNo, but starting march 8 Revenge will have 9 episodes, Secrets & Lies 8 and Once 10, so S&L ends a week earlier and then ep 9 or Revenge airs after OUAT's 9 and 10.
ReplyDeleteEpisode 10 season 4 what season because from episode 11 season 4 it got really good onwards.
ReplyDeleteYe that why I'm thinking new story.
ReplyDeleteIt absolutely ended with cliffhangers. Not huge ones, but I mean, Sarah finding out that Brody is her father? Kitty being pregnant, with the possibility of a recurrence of her cancer? Those aren't cliffhangers?!
