This table shows the early overnight ratings. These ratings are normally adjusted later in the day when all the ratings have been consolidated to take into account any local preemptions and/or overruns. You can find all the final adjusted numbers in our Ratings Database. (See the About section below for details about ratings)
No Early Ratings Analysis today.
Each day (except Sunday) during the main TV Season we post the TV Ratings for the previous nights primetime shows for the major broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, CW, FOX, NBC). Cable Network ratings will be added to the Ratings Database.
The first item that gets posted (normally around 2pm GMT) is the early overnight analysis based on the early household numbers (these are not the same as the Total Viewers and 18-49 Demo numbers that are posted later).
Next, if available, we will post the Top 25 Market 18-49 Ratings to give you a rough idea of the ratings to following.
Later on (normally between 4pm-5pm GMT) we post the official early overnight Total Viewers and 18-49 Demo numbers in the table above (We also where possible now post the 18-34 and 25-54 Demo Numbers).
Finally, later in the evening (10pm-11pm GMT) or the following day, the final adjusted ratings numbers are released, these are then posted in the Ratings Database. Friday's Final Adjusted Ratings are normally available on the following Monday.
If you’re interested in Ratings/Renewals/Cancellations then we have a number of resources here at SpoilerTV that we recommend you check out.
That looks great for CBS.
ReplyDeleteI was expecting higher for agent carter :( Ouch forever and WTF New girl?! 2.0?!
ReplyDeleteWow at New Girl. What is this seasons high?
ReplyDeleteIKR fox has been has been having a good Start into the new year
ReplyDeleteDissapointed for Agent Carter.Looks like its going to be rated lower than Galavant. Not good.
ReplyDeleteI know it is sad but actually it is only a Mini series anyway.
ReplyDeleteIt is?I thought it was going to be be a full 22 series next season if renewed.
ReplyDeleteare the ratings low for poi?
ReplyDeleteUnderwhelming for Cartet
ReplyDeleteExactly what I predicted for AC.
ReplyDeleteWhy are their no HH ratings today, is it a holiday or something?
Highest Top 25 rating I've seen for PoI this season.
ReplyDeleteMarc is off to some conference in Pasadena and as a result, there were no HH.
ReplyDeleteIt could be even lover,we know what happened with Galavant.
ReplyDeleteMarc wrote in his newsletter: "Note: The daily newsletter and videocast will be on hiatus tomorrow as
ReplyDeletewe head to Pasadena, California for the Television Critics Association
Winter Press Tour."
It is. I guess SHIELD hurt the Marvel brand.
ReplyDeleteI thought i read it was a Mini series with only 8 episodes but i may be wrong. Like broadchurch, if it does well it would get a second season but if it does lower than galavant then this seems very unlikely
ReplyDeleteWhat was the TOP25 rating for Galavant i think it was 2.3?
ReplyDeleteIsn't that 2.1 what SHIELD usually got in the top25 markets? i suppose only SHIELD fans checked this out.
ReplyDeleteWhich is sad cuz based I have heard it was pretty good
ReplyDeleteYup.
ReplyDeleteIt was amazing. Much better than SHIELD ever was.
ReplyDeleteOuch.Not good at all.
ReplyDeleteDisappointingly low T25 for Chicago Fire. With all the Save Mills promo NBC spent, they didn't expect a drop.
ReplyDeleteGreat night for FOX. Mondays looked good too, hopefully it continues tonight.
No it is not. Abc always falls from top 25. Sunday everything Fell .3
ReplyDeleteindeed. Is quite sad because Carter was so amazingly good.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone know when sunday final ratings will be posted?
ReplyDeleteCBS looks up, which is great and well deserved. NCIS had an amazing episode to start the new year, New Orleans also had one of the best episodes of the season, and from what I've heard PoI was well-received as well.
ReplyDeleteProbably today.
ReplyDeleteChicago Fire probably had to overcome the lowest lead-in it ever had last night. I am certain that NBC expected a drop and if the final is anywhere near this, it will be a big win. Which other 10pm show actually grows 1 full point from its lead-in?! Growing 0.5 at that time is already crazy IMO.
ReplyDeleteCF definitely hurt by horrific lead-ins. CF/POI have no reason no to be well into 2s with zero competition from ABC (again) and no SOA.
ReplyDeleteDoes someone know what is this seasons high for New Girl?
ReplyDeleteNo report was done of it and I don't know if the main actress would have been available for a full 22 episode show.
ReplyDeleteOkay good!
ReplyDelete1.7 for the premiere.
ReplyDeleteSurprised,FOX is on roll in this year.
ReplyDeleteNG won't keep that 2.0, it's just for top markets
ReplyDeleteCould he not have been away yesterday so we don't have to read his annoying JtV love?
ReplyDeleteAs soon as they're available I suppose. I think they'll come today, but probably Friday's final ratings will come first. And then Sunday and Monday as well I hope.
ReplyDeleteWhile New Girl will probably have a great result, keep in mind that FOX shows tend to adjust down a lot from the top 25 markets. I will be surprised if New Girl actually pulls a 2.0 or a 1.9.
ReplyDeleteFox has been doing pretty well so far (monday, tuesday) i think it will do well tonight as well. American Idol as Empire's lead- in seems to be a smart move!
ReplyDeleteMark can never leave when his virgin is on. Who would then be left to annoy us with the praise?
ReplyDeleteThx !
ReplyDeleteWhen his virgin is on. oh, boy. you're rolling with your sentences.
ReplyDeleteI hope to see good numbers for FOX tomorrow. I am very excited for Empire.
ReplyDeleteI was not at first, but all the promos are pretty amazing
Third year shows should not be dependent on lead-ins. And, certainly, NBC did not expect or anticipate a drop for a highly publicized "event" show. Especially after the first show after break.
ReplyDeleteOMG this is horrific for NBCs comedy.
ReplyDeleteFOX is having a nice week
ReplyDeletePlease, please, PLEASE be a high rating for POI.
ReplyDeleteNo one, which is the point. Wish he saw it the same way lol
ReplyDeleteCF is not hurt by the lead-ins this year. Last year and this year's ratings have shown its core audience is what remains.
ReplyDeleteTo counterbalance their awful year. Let's see how the rest of the week goes for them.
ReplyDeleteThe entire CBS Tuesday lineup tends to grow a lot from the top 25 markets. POI usually has 121% (on average) of its top25 market, which would translate into a 1.8. This of course varies a lot and is not a scientific method, but well.
ReplyDeleteOmabin is absolutely correct. NBC will be encouraged by this rating given the lead in. And encouraged by CF winning the timeslot if that show pulls it off. And yes, lead ins matter even on third year shows.
ReplyDeleteI was annoyed with all that FOX hate, hope that will stop.
ReplyDeleteI don't think lead in has too much affect - the1.7-2.0 is its core audience
ReplyDeleteThat'd do me. Can't stand seeing the show at low ratings, even if it isn't necessarily in danger.
ReplyDeleteI hope Agent Carter has better retention from its top25 market than Agents of Shield.
ReplyDeleteFor 2015 this year:
ReplyDeleteLosers - NBC, ABC
Winners- FOX, CBS
unkown- The CW
Have you already seen it? And I hope so too. Guess that the only people who cared to watch Carter were the ones already checking SHIELD.
ReplyDeleteFYI: You can see all ratings for all shows and season in the ratings database
ReplyDeletehttp://www.stvplus.com
Okay, I really don't it's bad for AC. Actually, I think that's quite decent.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely correct. Blaming poor lead ins, is fan excuse bingo at its best. The core audience isn't growing, that is the concern. The rest is just left of center. And it can't be blamed on the show before it.
ReplyDeleteWhy is ABC a loser, exactly?
ReplyDeleteWow, even Parks and Rec repeats outrating Marry Me and About A Boy!
ReplyDeletePoI will be just fine. That is the highest Top 25 rating I've seen all season.
ReplyDeleteABC won Monday and Galavant premiered decent.
ReplyDeleteWell i could say NBC is not a complete loser:Chicago Fire and Celebrity Apprentice are doing decently
ReplyDeleteIt jumps when it has the voice as a lead-in and it gives back when it has the comedies. Middle ground is probably the reality since both the voice (very high rated) and the comedies (very low rated) are extreme cases. But Chicago Fire is very impressive to me because it's very rare for a show to have such a loyal following that will tune in specifically for the show at 10pm. Usually a lot comes from the casual audience that was watching at 9h30.
ReplyDeleteMore like: ABC tied for Monday.
ReplyDeleteSunday did terribly except for Galavant, the bachelor was down and tuesday does not seem to be very good either
ReplyDeleteOptimal strategy equates to strong ratings. Well Played Machine.
ReplyDeleteWhile i think thats decent it will sink lower and lower.
ReplyDeleteSunday did more or like what it always did; The Bachelor might have been done but it was still enough to win the night and Tuesdays seem to be more or less the same.
ReplyDeleteSo, really, ABC isn't any more different than it was on its last Monday (with DWTS, that is).
I guess FOX will stick to 2 cycles of MC Junior every year, then?
ReplyDeleteThanks.
ReplyDeleteABC isn't a loser. Neither is NBC since the only thing they made a semi decent effort on, The Apprentice, has been the biggest surprise so far. The dead shows walking its currently airing (State of Affairs, Bad Judge, A to Z, Marry Me ,About a Boy) were already dead in 2014 and this is just burning them off to get to their next phase of the calendar (post Super Bowl Tuesday, The Voice new cycle, The Night Shift, Undateable).
ReplyDeleteThank you SHIELD for ruining any chance fr Carter.
ReplyDeleteThank you people for loving the four-letter lowest common denominator.
Not surprised Agent Carter was so low.
ReplyDeleteAlso I'm going to LOL if a Parks and Recreation REPEAT beats both new episodes of Marry Me and About A Boy.
They are very small cycles. Just 7/8 episodes each, so it makes sense. Hell's Kitchen, on the other hand, badly needs a break since its ratings have fallen way too much in the last two seasons.
ReplyDeleteHigh ones should be fine. It might even be renewed if all of ABC's mid-season dramas fail.
ReplyDeleteAgent Carter was so good.
ReplyDeleteParks #1 NBC comedy.
ReplyDeleteMiddle finger to Greenblatt and their broad comedy flops.
I haven't had the time yet, I will do so today ;)
ReplyDeleteYou'll love it. It was so good.
ReplyDeleteSo will i :)
ReplyDeleteI wonder if NBC will keep airing comedies from 9-10 on Tuesaday given it has given up on Thursday comedies
ReplyDeleteThank you SHIELD for ruining any chance fr Carter.
ReplyDeleteWhat now?
Well, they already announced the mid-season schedule and they are.
ReplyDeleteIt's possible that the GP felt burned by SHIELD's early episodes that they've given up on anything Marvel-related in any televised form, at least.
ReplyDeleteIf Carter can stay stable in high 1s low 2s it should be fine
ReplyDeleteThey should give up, stick a Chicago show up there, all those terrible comedies hurt their brand forever.
ReplyDeleteZero comedies next year, NBC, end the suffering.
I mean for the next season
ReplyDeleteI would like to see NBC move their comedies to 8 PM next season so that The Voice can lead into The Night Shift. It's painfully obvious that none of their comedies are working so rather than waste the voice lead-in on something that is not working, they should use it on what it schedules 90% of the time.
ReplyDeleteI don't believe that's the case.
ReplyDeleteNBC between SOA, flop comedies, an ill-fated move of TBL - no way will it pull the same ratings at 9/8 on Thursday opposite Scandal and the final TAHM episodes. I think it's going to be a rough winter/spring. I expect TBL to move back rather quickly.
ReplyDeleteI think that was the case. Sure, Agent Carter hadn't so much hype as SHIELD but you'd think that a TV show by Marvel could score better even if just for curiosity.
ReplyDeleteNot that bad for Agent Carter, but I would have loved to see it higher, I really loved the pilot!
ReplyDeleteI'm beginning to wonder why the networks persist with comedies at all. So few become hits (HIMYM, TBBT, Modern Family) are the only ones I can recall in recent years.
ReplyDeleteWould they not be better off ditching some comedy shows and replacing them with more drama pilots.
Would be an interesting study to compare 18-49 and Total viewers between Drama and Comedy shows over the last few years.
Cue the "they cancelled Community for this sh*t" comments.
ReplyDeleteI'd call Mom a hit, too.
ReplyDeleteThe general public gave up on SHIELD when it aired poor episodes at the beginning. The ratings say as much.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, if that number for Carter sticks (or goes even lower), I think it's safe to say that Marvel doesn't do miracles and make a show explode just because it happens to be tied to it.
ReplyDeleteSo, the delusional expecting The Blacklist to get a bump just because Spader is the bad guy on Avengers 2 are that. Delusional.
2.5 Men, 2BG were all hits too.
ReplyDeleteComedies get higher ratings but they peaked in 2011, since then, they've been in decline.
ReplyDeleteThey are only ahead of dramas thanks to a few outliers like TBBT, Modern Family and Mother, this year Galavant had the second highest comedy pilot at 2.1, among dramas, Murder, Gotham, Scorpion, NCIS: New Orleans and even State of Affairs went higher.
Why would they move TBL back to Mondays only to move it again next fall? Unless you believe it is a viable option for them to keep a show that has proven that can't stand on its own (which would have been the case in your scenario) in their best launching pad forever, thus preventing them from using said launching pad for new shows.
ReplyDeleteI think it's a decent option to try multi cams like they are doing this Spring since it's something they haven't done yet.
ReplyDeleteNot a chance. Because of the flop comedies NBC has had the past 2 seasons the Blacklist is there best chance of becoming relevant on Thursdays. It doesn't need to have the same ratings it had on Monday to be successful.
ReplyDeleteI hope more people checked out Carter, it was really good! Snazzy, retro and super-cool, just like they said on AV Club. It was probably one of the best drama pilots of the season
ReplyDeleteGiven the fast decline of TV they need to use it to launch as many as shows as they can
ReplyDeleteI laughed so hard at some moments throughout the show. It was really good and it was everything SHIELD should have been from the get-go.
ReplyDeleteThey actually did. Considering Community's male skewing audience, one of the few on TV, it's not a surprise to see it cancelled while NBC moved to have a more female skewing schedule the next season.
ReplyDeleteThe online reaction has been insanely positive!
ReplyDeleteCarter, unlike SHIELD, got off to an amazing start.
ReplyDeleteWhy? Why couldn't this show come out first?!
Anything above a 1 would be better then their current thurs
ReplyDeleteTechnically Marry Me was the 2nd highest with its 2.3 premier.
ReplyDeleteBut male-skewing audiences would have made Community even more valuable.
ReplyDeleteBut this is NBC. They haven't been smart with comedies for years.
ReplyDeleteI know, right? It is just that good! I was expecting something merely entertaining, but it blew my mind!
ReplyDeleteWell, true.
ReplyDeleteYup. Sad but true.
ReplyDeletePeople were expecting it to premier as high as AOS did and that's why people are disappointed and giving fire and brimstone predictions. In my personal opinion the only reason why the show premiered that high was because people were expecting a RDJ cameo or something along those lines even though they were told repeatedly it's not that type the show. However, people know better this time around. I expect the show to do exactly the same numbers AOS does, maybe a little higher. Although I don't think it's a crash like some people do. The show's main purpose is to keep people excited for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, set things up for other properties, and finally to get People to buy copies of Operation Sin or any other tie-in product.
ReplyDeleteIt was all about a brand change, from low rated, low viewed yet popular among affluent demographics comedies to even lower rated, slightly higher viewed and toxic comedies for the lowest common denominator.
ReplyDeleteNot great, Bob.
The back end, syndication, is where comedies are a gold mine. My understanding is they sell for much more than one hour dramas. This is partly because they tend to not be serialized and because they are a half hour. Heck many, many moons ago Law and Order was pitched as the arrest in the first hour, trial in the second with the idea that it could be split into half hour shows for syndication.
ReplyDeleteYES!!!! We wouldn't have had to endure through 15 episodes of terrible boredom to get to the good part. And Agent Carter would have surely been able to keep part of the massive early ratings. It's just annoying.
ReplyDeleteHoly crap at FOX!!!! Especially for MasterChef Jr and New Girl!! If those top 25 ratings stay even close to those 2.0's that'll be amazing for FOX! New Girl might just have its lowest y2y drop ever. NBC comedies flopped hard without The Voice as usual. CBS did alright. I knew Agent Carter was gonna land somewhere in the low 2's.
ReplyDeleteI blame Shield. The show may have got better, but the first 10 episodes were so bad that people who left the show and didn't come back didn't bothered with Agent Carter
ReplyDeleteThe fact that it still retains such a huge portion of its audience in spite of the lead-in shows it is not lead-in dependent. But people misuse that word. Most timeslots work depending on the lead-in. There will always be a combination of two groups of people watching a show: casuals (and that depends a lot of what was airing first, as well as viewing levels, etc.) + core audience of the show. No matter how you spin it, no matter how old the show is, if you put it in a bad timeslot, it will have less casuals watching, so it will perform worse. That's just how it is.
ReplyDeleteI, too, blame SHIELD. People found SHIELD so poisonous that they don't seem to be bothering with anything Marvel-related, on a televised form.
ReplyDeleteBut all signs pointing to nobody really caring about About A Boy. There's no way anybody could predict the further implosion of NBC's comedies this year, there were no signs. Sean Saves The World, The Michael J. Fox Show, Welcome To The Family, The New Normal and many more were just flukes.
ReplyDeleteI can't control myself lol, it's my way to deal with his obsession for the virgin. I kind of feel bad since he has made me annoyed with the show and I don't like to actively dislike shows I haven't even watched. But it bugs me now in some sort of irrational way because of him.
ReplyDeleteGrey's would like to dismiss that notion. it performed the same, with or without a lead-in.
ReplyDeleteWhich is sad given the fact NBC has produced some of the biggest comedies TV History
ReplyDeleteI actually saw more down to earth predictions. I myself was hoping for a 2.5-2.4. Now, if it has done even better it would have been great. and the show certainly deserved to do better. *Sigh* I guess Shield really damaged Marvel chances on the small screen
ReplyDeleteIt's sad because Community and Parks DOMINATED the Male 18-34 demos as well as the affluent $100K household demos.
ReplyDeleteI think Undateable will do better than Marry Me and may even win back some M18-34, but affluent viewers aren't going to watch that dreck.
While the night looks very positive for FOX, keep in mind that New Girl has only retained ~78% of its top25 markets rating and that Masterchef Jr has only retained 89%. This would mean ~1.8 for Masterchef Jr. and 1.5-1.6 for New Girl. The top25 numbers are a bit deceiving here.
ReplyDeleteExactly.
ReplyDeleteOmabin, I respect your opinions... but I don't think we are on the same page regarding my points and your counterpoints. And I'm not going to highjack the thread for another half of page.
Exactly. NBC is concerned about their comedies today but applauding CF. It's resilient and steady.
ReplyDeleteZero comedies renewed for a third season since 2012.
ReplyDeleteIt must be a fluke.
Well, it's a little bit too late now, the damage is done. I just hope people will keep on watching Agent Carter; considering the online reaction has been massively possitive there is hope for the show to keep on delivering the same ratings
ReplyDeleteI also wanna say Chicago Fire did amazing! Even though it got a 1.7 in top 25, that's still great considering its lead in probably got a 0.7 or below. It'll be cool to see it beat POI as well. FOX is doing well so far, but I forgot about their Fridays when dreadful Glee comes back and bring the average down.
ReplyDeleteNBC comedies produce the most terrible stats.
ReplyDeleteThey are so bad, SO BAD that 2014 was the first year since 1981 that no NBC comedy got an Emmy nomination.
Well, tbh, Grey's is also sort of an outliner. It has been the only show that I know off capable of doing that (drama-wise) on a regular basis.
ReplyDeleteOhhhhh I got it. Yeah I can see that happening. That'll still be great for MasterChef and OK for New Girl. But MasterChef and the weak comedy competition is definitely helping New Girl this year.
ReplyDeleteYes, let's hope word-of-mouth also helps the show. I have yet to see someone comment negatively on it so, hopefully, ABC will back the show up for the remainder of its short season to see if it can grow.
ReplyDeleteIn a way, serves them right for delivering that awful S1A, but at the same time it makes me feel bad because Shield is ok nor and Carter got off to such a great start that they should be doing better
ReplyDeleteI no longer can stand the fake laugh tracks. I no longer watch half hour sitcoms.
ReplyDeleteAgent Carter deserved a lot more. A LOT more than that 2.1. Or whatever it gets.
ReplyDeletemulti-cam, I take it?
ReplyDeleteBecause single-cams don't use it (that's why I love ABC's comedies).
true for all the hype & commercials, I expected a loyt higher
ReplyDeleteIt's all a matter of "eras", I think. Four years ago we had the explosion of sitcoms in a very big way. Modern Family had its biggest season yet, The Big Bang Theory absolutely exploded on Thursday, CBS Monday went to crazy levels with Mother, the launch of Broke Girls and Ashton debut on Men and FOX had New Girl beating everything else on the network. Even NBC found "some success" (for its recent standards anyway) with Up All Night and ABC had other success stories such as building-from-the-middle Suburgatory, Happy Endings big bounce after Modern Family and Last Man's big launch on Tuesdays.
ReplyDeleteAs a result, networks responded by investing more and more in sitcoms, but the trend has passed already and now a few remain. Networks are adapting and we've seen CBS, FOX and NBC all cut down one comedy hour this season already. At some point then, they will cut too much and people will want more sitcoms, which will in turn drive demand and increase the number of hours again. They're just cycles I think.
Another point might be that sitcoms seem to explode to higher levels than dramas do. Sure, they produce maybe more flops relatively speaking, but Modern Family and The Big Bang Theory are still, by far, the highest rated scripted shows on television. So maybe the networks feel it's worth the risk.
no 7 episodes
ReplyDeleteSo how likely is it that POI actually beat Chicago Fire?
ReplyDeleteShould get 3+s ratings considering the quality on display here; everything was done right!
ReplyDeleteI believe it also helps that New Girl is on a huge creative rebound. This season feels very fresh and Season-1 like.
ReplyDeletecorrect
ReplyDeleteI imagine both will tie but we shall see.
ReplyDeleteDon't know. PoI had its highest Top 25 of the season but Chicago Fire tends to fluctuate wildly with its top 25 rating.
ReplyDeleteI watched this morning and I already want to watch it again. it was absolutely fantastic and the lead actress' performance was stunning.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to get high 2s.
ReplyDeleteAt least a 2.3 to win spottedratings "The Question".
Stranger things have happened on television. *points at Scandal's rise*
ReplyDeleteAlso Thursday, unless I've missed them.
ReplyDeleteExactly, every network has off development cycles and down periods. Hopefully, FOX is moving onto better times.
ReplyDeleteFOX is going to win this week.
ReplyDeleteNice monday numbers, American Idol down 30% can pull ratings in the 3s and will take 3 hours and they will air a primetime football game on saturdays.
Meanwhile, no TGIT on ABC, no Voice on NBC (Golden Globes will offset it) and regular lineup on CBS that might be high enough to place them at #2.
Grey's Anatomy is one of the biggest outliers lead-in wise of the last decade and then some, and I've applauded it for such accomplishment multiple times before. However, two considerations:
ReplyDelete- if you do some analysis, you will find out that the lead-in effect is much more palpable at 10pm, because people are apparently less prone to tune in to a specific channel at that time (even more so at 10h30 in which almost no show even grows from the previous half and it's relatively rare not to decline)
- We actually don't know if GA would have performed the same with or without a lead-in since it never actually got a decent one. What we do know is that it was always mighty strong despite the lead-ins.It's entirely possible that it would have been even stronger with one. Look no further than the Shark Tank experiment last year: we also spent the whole year saying the show was lead-in independent since it was so damn high all the time in spite of TN, but then in May, when the viewing levels were the lowest, ABC aired a special edition of ST in the 8pm hour and Shark Tank jumped to series high levels! It's possible that GA's weak lead-ins were just hiding an even bigger strength!
See my answer above to Andrew, I hadn't realized you had answered here.
ReplyDeleteHayley Atwell really shines in this show. It was brilliant; well paced, outstandingly acted and greatly written. This is what Marvel has to be on TV!
ReplyDeleteI always hope my shows can go through the Scandal effect, but that's really a long shot. But still, one can dream
ReplyDeleteFuturology question: do you believe the shifting trend towards dramas will be strong and long enough to put them above sitcoms like in the mid 00s or will they reach a point of saturation that will reverse the current tide again?
ReplyDelete2014 seems like the point of saturation for sitcoms, since Black-ish and The Odd Couple are the only freshman comedies with a shot of being renewed.
I suppose having been written by the same set of writers responsible for the two CA's movies doesn't hurt.
ReplyDeleteCBS should be able to take the week (as always, my numbers exclude sports, Saturdays, Award shows and 7pm Sundays) I think. They did pretty well on Monday, will win Tuesday, should position themselves well on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. On Sunday they have football as lead-in for their lineup so it should be okay even in spite of the globes competition. FOX will be dragged down by Sleepy Hollow, Mindy and, especially, Glee - because they have few hours, it's easier for bad hours to have a bigger impact on the average. But we shall see.
ReplyDeleteI really think Scandal was an one-time-thing or that it's a very rare event.
ReplyDeleteStill, Carter deserves it.
lol people blaming AoS for Agent Carter. Ever think the whole premise of the show has more to do with it than AoS? It's a CA:TFA epilogue spinoff show based on a female supporting character. It has no tie in with the present day MCU timeline.
ReplyDeleteIf any show deserves the Scandal effect, Carter it is; I know it has only been 2 episodes, but still! Any show that starts this bombastic deserves recognition and great ratings!
ReplyDeleteBe ready to be disappointed when the Scandal effect hits again, with the affected show being a bread and butter procedural.
ReplyDeleteI came into this show with low expectations because of how badly SHIELD burned me (I wasn't even supposed to check it out) but glad I did... What a fantastic series opener. And I'd argue that the second hour was even more entertaining than the first.
ReplyDeleteDon't think a bread and butter procedural will be another Scandal; Scandal was anything but bread and butter procedural.
ReplyDeleteIt's possible but the fact that Grey's managed to demonstrate such a punch even in light of low lead-ins, really speak to its strength.
ReplyDeleteAgree entirely with that!
ReplyDeleteThat's alright, non-sports/awards means that CBS will win it.
ReplyDeleteWon mondays, will win tuesdays, wednesdays are out of equation due to the PCA's, thursdays are a desert, they'll be #2 on fridays and sundays will be inflated, counting only scripted and unscripted shows, they'll clinch it.
Actually, the female character was one of the leads in the actual movie.
ReplyDeleteUnless you are Scandal season 2. That whole season was great. I think they should have kept that level of writing since it got them so high on the ratings, but well, what can you do?
ReplyDeleteI don't think Scandal got so high because it became a procedural, it actually shot up when the president got shot. Season 3 was a bit more formulatic, but I wouldn't call it a procedural, but it certainly opened the doors for some casual viewers, but I don't being a procedural got it where it is right now
Agent Carter: 2.0/1.8
ReplyDeleteForever: 1.1
NCIS: 2.8
NCISO: 2.3
POI: 1.7
P&R: 0.8
MM: 0.8
AAB: 0.8
CF: 1.7
NG: 1.5
TMP: 1.0
I was talking more about a ratings spike in general, didn't include the buzz or anything.
ReplyDeleteThe NCIS case came to mind, this show was a counterprogram against American Idol and started with low ratings, it became network tv's #1 drama for quite a few years and it's still CBS top drama, it has never dropped below its first episodes ratings, there is TBBT too, another bread and butter show (but sitcom) whose series low is also at season one.
Carter's half-hours: 2.0/2.0/1.9/1.7
ReplyDeleteWhy is abc still trying with forever- it's ratings suck
ReplyDeleteTables are now updated
ReplyDeleteI am not sure CBS can take Thursdays from FOX due to Elementary and McCarthys but I agree with the rest.
ReplyDeleteOuch. I was way off with my ABC predictions.
ReplyDeleteBecause it's better than the rest of their efforts on the timeslot.
ReplyDeleteHere are the 1/2 hr 18-49 breakdowns.
ReplyDeleteBecause it's on Tuesday at 10 and it's probably a better option than Killer Woman or Shark Tank reruns
ReplyDeleteChicago Fire is resilient, NBC keeps giving it terible non-Voice lead-ins and it keeps delivering, depending on how Blacklist reacts after getting moved to thursdays, Fire may become the most successful show on NBC since The Office, a quiet but solid performer.
ReplyDeletePeople hated Carter's third half hour, 1.7 is not good.
Lol, a Parks rerun tied NBC's 9 PM comedies.
Sad to see Carter doing just high 1s on its regular hour :/, hope it sticks there or even improve.
ReplyDeleteOutstanding night for NCIS, season high?
And New Girl did good too
The table shows a 2.5 for NCIS New Orleans.
ReplyDeleteAlready corrected, sorry.
ReplyDeleteNo Voice helped CBS a lot
ReplyDeleteNew Orleans tied its season high (the pilot) and NCIS hit a best-since premiere demo.
ReplyDeleteThat is pretty low for carter :(
ReplyDeleteLike he said if CF HAD A BETTER LEAD IN, it can have more people tune in besides it loyal followers, I don't think u get what anyone is trying to say. Any show loves good lead ins, it just beneficial in the long run, and fan excuse bingo, more like your a hater and come up with counter excuses, no one said CF is in desperate need of better ratings, it's on par for NBC and has good ratings, they can be better if they had a stronger show in front
ReplyDeleteI don't know why people bailed on Carter's third half hour, considering it was actually really good by then.
ReplyDelete
