It was cute and it fit well with the series. Loved seeing everyone in the finale even Ruby was cute with her new family by marriage. Zeek's death was not a surprise but it was sad although I knew when she was talking to him and he didn't reply that he was going to have died in his sleep. At least he got to die peacefully at home knowing his family was all happy and that his wife would still have lots of things ahead of her to keep her going like Amber and the baby or travelling. The flash forwards were really nice and I liked the closure they provided.
In the end I liked Sarah and Hank together. They were cute, stable and provide a good family for all of their kids and grandkids. Glad she ended up with him not Mr Cyr (no offense to him).
Also yay Julia and Joel were able to not only adopt a baby but they also were able to get pregnant one last time too! I'm glad they got back together and came together as a family in the end.
Loved the ending. The Zeek death scene was so beautifully done by Bonnie Bedelia, and the family photo shoot definitely got to me. Thanks for a great six seasons, Parenthood.

I want to watch it again for the flash forward montage. I think I missed a few minor things. Once again, Jason Katims is the man for tying all the story lines up with a neat little bow. I loved the way Zeke Sr. was so mindful of his remaining time, putting things right with Amber, Crosby, Sarah, and Camille . . . the ones he was worried about. He knew Adam and would be just fine.
I recently read an article about the deal NBC 'gave' to Jason Katims and the cast for this final season, allowing them to use the principal actors for only so many episodes. It explained the earlier Hank and Ruby episodes that stuck out like a sore thumb. (Over $$ of course.) The actors weren't happy about it, and they and the writers made the best of the situation by making lemonade out of lemons. That said, the final 2 episodes of the season are Emmy worthy. Thank you, cast and crew of Parenthood for a great run!
This episode was incredible, just an amazing piece of television. There were just so many remarkable scenes in the finale, but the family photo shoot definitely stood out.
Just rewatched to see if I saw what I thought I saw the first time. Yep. Friday Night Lights alumni, Scott Porter, was with fellow FNL alumni Matt Lauria in the montage scene that showed Amber with her family. His ending scene with Taylor Kitsch was cut and replaced with Tim and Billy Riggins building Tim's house. Wonder if Jason Katims thought he kind of owed this one to Scott.
I haven't cried at a show's ending in a long time, this one STILL has the ability to choke me up days later. I'm mad the show was cancelled, I'm really glad they got the chance to give it a proper closing. Thank you to everyone involved in the show for Parenthood, a true gift.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
It was amazing, but so sad. I'm still sobbing! I'm really going to miss this show. Goodbye Bravermans!

ReplyDeleteThe only thing I didn't like about this episode was that there will be no more. It was a perfect way to end it.
ReplyDeleteThis is how you do a series finale! So beautiful and emotional, everyone got closure! Loved it!

They could have given an extra 30 minutes, extend the flashbacks some.
