I really liked it. I will watch it every week. The ending. It's a good set up for the season though. I find these cyber crimes so creepy because they really happen. i thought the lead was very good. I'm not sure if she's starred in anything before.
I loved it. Another show on MTV that I really enjoy. I thought Victoria Justice did an incredible job. Even though many people said that the ending was not predictable, it was kind of to me. I mean that guy had it coming. At least for me. Since when does the main character have a stabile relationship (more or less) in the first episode.. I would have liked him on the show but his death gave Lindy's character such a great and better arch.
I can't wait for what's to come and I especially can not wait for more creepiness!!
So glad you liked it. I got a little nervous when people started saying they were going to try it, because I wasn't sure if they would see it the same way. I thought the pacing was superb and that goes a long way for me. Plus they pulled a Supernatural. Killing Ben is the equivalent of killing Jessica in the pilot for me.
I loved Ben but as soon as I saw he only had 2 episodes on IMDb, I knew he was toast. I wish I hadn't seen that because it would have made the death that more of a punch, juse like the surprise that Jessica's death was to me.
Yes :) I aways watch Teen Wolf, I can kind off see some similarities, but that's to me, more fantasy and this is more thriller. But I understand what your saying :)
hmm i can see that with death creepiness and already a cliffhanger, you're right, not as i guess an epic feeling i got when i saw the Teen Wolf pilot but an amped up feeling of what's ahead which is good
That's right. Sorry. It's late here. For me it is more the conscience decision to jump right into the action. Most pilots want to set up the characters and the setting, basic stuff in the pilot and they use a lot of exposition to do so. Teen Wolf and this one are two of the best pilots at being focused on hooking people on the plot first, knowing that the characters can follow. I think they do themselves a great service because if you hook me on the plot, I'm coming back next week. If you waste my time explaining everything to me in the pilot, well that just makes me feel like they are talking down to me and makes me less excited about continuing.
Great summary :) No worries. I agree with your sentiments, that ending definitly had a really intriguing feel, I'm looking forward to the rest of the season.
Agreed. The Teen Wolf pilot was amazing. I didn't feel quite the instant pull when watching this one, but I definitely was excited and attentive throughout. To be honest, I think they modeled this pilto after the Teen Wolf one because it was so successful for them.
I actually try to avoid spoilers of new shows so that I can watch at least the pilot unfold for me. Then it depends on the show if I dig into it deeper or not.
WELL! Victoria Justice you are no longer on Nickelodeon are you? you picked a great show and she can definitely carry this show, i knew Ben wouldn't survive the hour but they were great together until Cyber Stalker tricked her: that bastard, loved their star conversation it was so cute
They both do something stupid in the pilot and then for at least the next 3 episodes it is all angst in there. But it does have excellent action sequences.
The two guys playing detectives were miscast, neither guy was convincing as a detective for a second, obviously Ben in order to be a love interest for Lindy, and the other guy to pine after her in future episodes. Kinda reminded me of Beauty and The Beast, where instead of casting a older, more believable actor opposite Kreuk to play her partner, they cast an actress that was even less believable as a detective than her, which made Kreuk less believable as a detective. The opening scene with the sister was effective though, and I did like Justice in the lead role. Maybe the police stuff will work better once she works with them in future episodes.
She really was good and thanks for the SPN reference. I hadn't even thought to compare the scenes. Now it's just that much better. I actually liked all of the actors even though some of the early scenes were flat. I think I see a strong cast forming once they get their feet wet. You just keep suggesting and I'll just keep watching :) Your reviews haven't steered me wrong yet.
Very true. But from the promo for the whole season it seems that Lindy might be hitting it off with Ben's partner. And I think he seems so much better for her. I don't know, guess that's just an opinion :D
Mtv went in for the win with this one. I love the plot I love everything about the show. I'm probably the only one but it did give me a pretty little liars feel to it but in a more action packed way. I'll def tune in every week to see more
Victoria has really grown up, this is a great improvement for her. From Zoey 101 and Victorious now Eye Candy. Especially being by R.L., horror icon writer, awesome. MTV has another hit series.
It was nice to see Victoria in something more adult than her Nickelodeon past... Maybe she can actually act. Who knew? XD
I though the premise was okay, but most of it felt forced. It skimmed the surface of the plot without letting the story breathe or expand naturally. It felt like the had a number of scenes in mind and then wrote to connect those scenes instead of writing an episode from beginning to end.
The detectives being 20-somethings was a bit annoying to me. Very few NYC detectives are under 30 and even less look like teen magazine poster boys! XD
So overall... Fun premise and better than expected Victoria Justice. Otherwise weak cast with weak dialog and a forced story. I guess maybe a "B-" if I'm in a good mood, but probably any other time I would rate it a flat "C" overall.
Liked it. Not in love with it yet, but enjoyed it enough to give it another shot. I found the way they handled the back story a little disjointed. I like the actors, but had some trouble with her performance in the final computer scene. It just felt like pretending. I didn't believe it and because of that some of the punch was lacking. There's potential. I will watch again.
I agree with you about annoyance of lots of exposition but for me, personally, I have GOT to have character. In Teen Wolf it was Stiles that got me hooked. Here, it was Lindy's friends, Sophia and Connor. Especially Connor.
The episode itself was good but I don't think I'll continue. It's a little too heavily serialized for me. I could take the recurring thread where she's looking for her sister but adding an ongoing psychopath stalker is just too much. I don't want to tune in to a series and have to wait years to find out "whodunnit."
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Amazing absolutely loved it what an ending!
ReplyDeleteThat was so awesome! Unlike anything I have seen on MTV.
ReplyDeleteI really liked it. I will watch it every week. The ending. It's a good set up for the season though. I find these cyber crimes so creepy because they really happen. i thought the lead was very good. I'm not sure if she's starred in anything before.
ReplyDeleteShe was in Zoey 101 and Victorious (an episode of iCarly) on Nickelodeon if you watched those?
ReplyDeleteNo, I never saw those. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteYour welcome :)

Sydney Bristow had a stable relationship in the pilot of Alias and look how that turned out. :)
ReplyDeleteson of a... you're right and yeah Ben's fate was unfortunately predictable

ReplyDeleteHave you ever watched the pilot of Teen Wolf. This pilot felt a lot like it to me.
ReplyDeletewow you're right and i hate that i guessed right about Ben's fate, i tried to not get close to the character but didn't work
ReplyDeleteI loved Ben but as soon as I saw he only had 2 episodes on IMDb, I knew he was toast. I wish I hadn't seen that because it would have made the death that more of a punch, juse like the surprise that Jessica's death was to me.

ReplyDeleteyeah even without seeing how many episodes he had, i didn't see his name in the regulars and i knew he would be this show's Jessica damn
ReplyDeletedamn Teen Wolf pilot that was 4 years ago LOL
ReplyDeleteGreat summary :) No worries. I agree with your sentiments, that ending definitly had a really intriguing feel, I'm looking forward to the rest of the season.

ReplyDeleteand creepy feeling LOL
ReplyDeleteyeah i guess that makes sense, certain spoilers for me okay like casting
ReplyDeletewouldn't surprise me
ReplyDeletegruesome?
ReplyDeleteI'd say more emoangsty and shortsighted.
ReplyDeletehow does that work? LOL
ReplyDeleteThey both do something stupid in the pilot and then for at least the next 3 episodes it is all angst in there. But it does have excellent action sequences.
ReplyDeleteoh i thought he died when CGS hinted at how Sydney's relationship turned out

ReplyDeleteIts official...I'm hooked on this series...
ReplyDeleteIt was alright. Little bit boring in the beginning, but it did pick up near the end.

ReplyDeleteIt took me awhile but wasn't he in The Last Resort? I really liked him there.
ReplyDeleteWell he did die. Like right away. So it kind of turned out the same way.. didn't it? Her fiancé got killed and that's the reason she turned to the real CIA. So gruesome is kind of the right word :D
ReplyDeleteVery true. But from the promo for the whole season it seems that Lindy might be hitting it off with Ben's partner. And I think he seems so much better for her. I don't know, guess that's just an opinion :D

Disappointing.
Loved this, very fast moving show, but WTH, I liked Ben..shocker.
ReplyDeleteYou are right. I only watched an episode or two of it before it got cancelled so I didn't remember him.
ReplyDeleteLiked it. Not in love with it yet, but enjoyed it enough to give it another shot. I found the way they handled the back story a little disjointed.
