Freezing weather in Northeast America right now, wind chill going several degress below zero Fareinheit. Wonder if ratings will be a tenth or two higher than normal? Maybe not though.
Yeah, I agree thwy ran out of real talent a while ago. It seems the thing of today for the judges to be fake—I'm looking at you, Rising Star and X Factor.
Its too bad—seems that networks and producers are trying hard to manufacture a hit instead of letting something more natural happen.
Here go some music with a meaning .. http://youtu.be/eBMl36rlf-E?list=UUUy9vw5MlSxxDmEWiu66K0A .. First Agreement Remix . #Sacramento #Subscribe #CM .. This is what we need ! .
I didn't watch American Idol. I watched Mysteries Of Laura and then Empire while DVR'ing Goldbergs, Modern Family and Blackish. Now I'm watching AHS now. I have so much to watch LOL
it was amazing.... but the sound of Terrence Howard's voice gets on my nerve.. he's got a sound to his voice that makes him sound stopped up.....or something... nothing against him.. but that voice... its awful....now Taraji Henson.. made the entire ep...I did mute the tv when it came to the music.. but that was some damn good television....
The acting was outstanding and Taraji P. Henson really knocked it out of the park. You can tell she was having a lot of fun and I loved Cookie standing up for herself whenever she confronted Lucious! She was not going down without a fight and I commend her for that. And on the other side of the spectrum, you saw that she was actually this loving mother that cared deeply for her son's and wants what's best for them. Bow down to Taraji! Phenomenal.
The musical performances were really well done but my favorite has to be when Jamal was singing at the bar. He just poured his soul out during that performance and it was so raw. It made me tear up when it kept on going back and forth between his performance and the time when Lucious saw Jamal in heels and threw him in a trash can outside. And then when Cookie once again, stood up for herself and said "I wish you would" to Lucious and dared him to strike her in retaliation. It was all around just a powerful scene.
The scene where Cookie walked into Empire Entertainment in all her beautiful glory and demanded to have a meeting with Lucious gave me actual life. Holy hell, and then when she said "Tell me to shut up again, bitch" to that chairman inside Lucious' offices in her badass coat. She really is a woman you do not want to mess with.
I wonder who from the three sons is gonna take Empire Entertainment once Lucious is gone. Right now, I hope it's Jamal right now but we'll see. And I can't wait to see Cookie and Anika giving side eye to each other and going head to head. It will surely be epic.
Overall, I'm so glad I decided to check this show out! So happy it got monstrous ratings and hopefully it won't drop too much in the coming weeks. Can't wait to see what's next.

One of the most powerful pilot of this fall season. Empire is great, I hope the rest of the first season continue to show a strong confront for power, because the characters are great.
I thought it was a really strong pilot. Taraji was awesome as Cookie but the flashback of Jamal cross dressing seemed a little too much, especially when he was shoved into a trash can. The entire thing was unintentionally hilarious.
I'm probably going to get slammed by an onslaught of fans but I don't get why there's so much love for this show.... I couldn't stand it. Thought it was cliched - saw I've seen it more than once - wooden and just pretty bad. I'm obviously in the minority and the other 12 (at this point in time) who voted awful are remaining quiet as to why or are trolls, but it just grated on my nerves from start to finish.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
That was amazing. An extremely strong pilot, and I hope the ratings reflect that.

ReplyDeleteSide note American Idol was horrible. Definitely expecting a record low premier rating for it.
ReplyDeleteHow so? Just curious—I gave up on the show despite being absolutely attached to it earlier in its run.
ReplyDeleteThe judges sounded fake, and the talent was awful.

ReplyDeleteI'm watching CPD right now. This episode of CPD is on FIRE!
ReplyDeleteI'm DVR'ing that right now. I'm so glad Nashville isn't on this month or else I would be having a DVR meltdown LOL
ReplyDeleteI love it. I've missed Taraji on my TV.
ReplyDeleteLoved it. Setting a series record.
ReplyDeleteThat was the best pilot I've ever seen, it feels like Game of Thrones with music and Black people.

Got to view it at last. Found it be very good. Taraji P. Henson was fabulous. I will definitely continue to watch this show.
