  1. I thought it was a really good season premiere, can't wait to see if Joe Miller walks free or not. (I he doesn't).

  2. Absurdly superb. There are no adjectives to describe this first episode honestly. Olivia Colman and David Tennant.

  5. This was completely brilliant! Love the way that they haven't left the Danny Latimer case behind in favour of a new one but are also opening up the Sandbrook case. Really feels like the best of both worlds! Also Olivia Coleman and David Tennant are outstanding as usual!

  6. Love old school Alec Hardy

  7. I can't believe Joe would do that to the Latimmer's and his own family. And it seems like they'll deal with Sandbrook too on this series.

  8. I'm so glad to have this show back after a couple of years.

It was awesome. Tense as hell! I'm surprised that they managed to fit in so much in the first episode without it feeling cluttered. The three lawyers, the Sandbrooke case, the ghosts from S01 and all the secrets of the people of Broadchurch who, as Latimer's lawyer explains, are likely to come out during the trial. I think the defense's main card is discrediting Hardy and the case he built.

So happy to have the worst British detective (and Tennant's hair and accent!) back on my screen!
Writing, atmosphere, music, cast: always spot on!

  9. Okay, just finished watching the S2 premiere. Amazing, devastating and intriguing. Olivia Colman is an excellent actor.

  10. What could the story behind the bluebell be? They also showed a field of bluebells when Hardy was flashing back to the murdered cousins at the very beginning of the episode (the Sandbrook case) One girl's body was found -was it found in a field of bluebells? If so, it stands to reason that it would be public knowledge and Claire would also have known about it. Now, we know that a bluebell was sent to Claire but she didn't freak out? Didn't think it was her husband hounding her? Didn't show it to Hardy and instead hid it? This behavior doesn't jibe with how she freaks out over the calls from the unidentified number, thinking it was her husband who had come back to torment her. There's also a question of when the bluebell was sent to her - was it recent? Why did she hide it from Hardy? Sent way back? Then why keep it and hide it?

    Intriguing, isn't it? Thoughts?

  11. I find particulary interesting the question about Claire, indeed. Does she know something that she cannot reveal to anyone? Can we trust her?

I know that bluebell fields are very common in England during springtime, as well as in Europe. I don't remember right now if they have found the body of one of the girls in one of them (bad memory, sorry). It may be.
In the language of flowers, they have two different and conflicting meanings: it evokes, on one hand, little reassuring images enough to be called "the Bell of the dead" as ancient legends claim that those who hear the clink of a Bellflower, are doomed to die within a short time. It also says that the fields of bluebells are inhabited by evil fairies, so it's not safe to stay in those places. They are also associated with constancy, gratitude and everlasting love.

I guess we're gonna have a lot of fun next weeks :-)

Of course, I accept thoughts, suggestions, anything that can help!
