Gabriel and Collins! Were they poking fun at Misha with that name???
ReplyDeleteNo. It was a reference to Peter Gabriel and Phil Collins from the band Genesis.
ReplyDeleteAh, I see
ReplyDeleteI was torn between Sam comforting Charlie and Sam telling Dean "We can do this." I voted for the latter because...brothers.
ReplyDeleteI think it was both. I have friends on tumblr (and I seriously mean friends, Tumblr confuses me) who have told me that there are people who ship "Sam and Gabriel" and then there's "Destiel" so I think it was like this double entendre of both Peter Gabriel and Phil Collins from Genesis (going with Sam and Dean's usual Rock aliases) and poking fun at the "ships" since it seems that Thompson pays attention to those fans.
ReplyDelete1. "We Can Do This"
ReplyDelete2. Sam comforting Charlie
3. Charlie forgives Dean (and added "Prove It" line)
4. Agent Gabriel and Collins (Genesis is awesome!)
Hmmm...hadn't thought about it that way but you could be right. I thought maybe it was a shout out to Cain, as the story of Cain and Abel takes place in the book of Genesis in the bible. So apply the double entendre of using rock aliases and merge it with the lore behind the Mark of Cain and you get Genesis.
ReplyDeleteCould be that too...maybe Thompson decided he wanted to put as many meanings behind their names as possible. ALSO, you bring up a good point. When Charlie said that Dean had something Cain didn't, did anyone else just want her to look at Sam and then just stop talking? Like I love Charlie, but that could have been a really awesome moment and they wouldn't have had to go into "you're a Winchester"
ReplyDeleteThat would have been nice, but it falls in line with Charlie's normal fangirling of Dean if you really think about it. She gave Dean the sole credit for saving the world even after reading Chuck's novels. I liked that in this episode she got to interact more with Sam because normally she doesn't pay him any mind.
ReplyDeleteThe leg lock was actually a move called a triangle choke, but that's just semantics.
ReplyDeleteMaybe: Sam tells Dean "we can do this." Charlie forgives Dean and asks him to forgive himself.
ReplyDeletecan i just vote for the whole thing?!?!? It was an amazing episode
ReplyDeleteEgg white omelette, one of the (very) few bright moments in this episode....
