Parenthood - How Did We Get Here? - Advance Preview

Parenthood’s fall finale ended on a tragic note. Will Zeek survive from this new heart attack? This episode How Did We Get Here? is focused on the aftermath of Zeek’s new health problems.

We learn that Zeek is having again heart-related disfunctions, so he is in the balance between life and death. That’s the time in which family need each other the most. All the Braverman gather around in the hospital waiting for any news to come out.

Luncheonette is victim of burglars, so Adam and Crosby must decide whether they want to keep it open or take the money from the insurance. Hank and Joel arrive at the hospital. While the former as usual is annoying  along with the most boring nephew’s of the world, aka Drew, the latter is doing what a great husband should do in a difficult situation like this: stay close to Julia.

The part I loved the most, was the one involving Camille. I really liked how for the first time she was the central character of the episode. Her anxiety and her concern for Zeek were portrayed as brilliantly as possible by Bonnie Bedelia that shines in this episode. Her dialogue with Adam is just heartbreaking.

I also appreciated a lot the ending: Zeek is now recovering, but his heart is still in danger. The women of the family celebrate together Amber and her unborn child with good memories and incisive advice for her upcoming motherhood.

Finally Parenthood got back on his track: with just four episodes left, I was worried about the possibility of watching again useless storylines. Apart from Hank and Drew that fortunately got little screen time, annoying Ruby and her mother are now gone. Julia and Joel seem finally to be together for good, and the plot twist about Luncheonette will likely have interesting outcomes in the dynamics between the brothers. When we have all the family together, Parenthood is able to be at its best: emotional, teardropping and heartwarming. Parenthood's 100th episode was the best one of this sixth season. This NBC Family drama which has started five years ago enjoyed a long ride without becoming boring, repetitive or adding inappropriate soap opera plot lines. Jason Katims knows how to build a story and to keep high quality in writing. A high-quality TV series which will be missed.

I can't wait for the next episode! How Did We Get Here? will air next Thursday at 10/9 on NBC.
Don't miss it!

  1. So is this confirmation that we can breath easy about Zeek for this episode at least?

  3. This 100th episode was my favorite of the season. I was lucky enough to watch it in advance. Ruby and her mother were used WAY Too much this season especially (episodes 8 & 9 of this season). The episode with her throwing a party was so horrible that there was nothing accomplished in that story. I was expecting Joel and Julia to come back in that episode (episode 7 was left with a cliffhanger with the two of them facing each other) but instead we had a filler. The 9th episode was not as horrible but still could have been better. The only good thing about that episode was the scenes with Joel and Julia. Thankfully, this episode stepped up to its game.

NBC has not done a good job promoting the final season of Parenthood. They're treating like a normal episode. Instead, they could promote as the 100th episode to boost ratings.

    Thanks for the preview.
