NCIS: Los Angeles - Spiral - Review: "Cheeky and Fun"
Jan 7, 2015
NCIS: Los Angeles ReviewsIt was good to have the gang back together after the holiday break. Though this episode made no mention of their holiday plans or anything that happened in “Humbug” (I am still really curious about Eric’s visit at Nell’s parents’ house), it seemed to pick up on many of the positive notes of the last episode, including having one of the characters involved in the main plot. Granted, I did think a few of the plot points were hard to follow, including the pharmaceutical storyline and what was happening with the vaccine, but overall I loved seeing the team work together to solve the case. This episode really utilized the entire team and was packed full of great action and high energy. Amidst numerous memorable moments we were also treated to some fun, cheeky dialogue.
Callen and Sam
I really enjoyed seeing Callen as “Jimmy the Mail Guy.” First he brown-noses the boss (who is actually an arms dealer), then when the terrorists take the employees hostage, his role as the Mail Guy became even funnier as the security officer and doctor made note of how much he was helping. I loved when the cop said, “What a relief – Mail Guy says I’m gonna survive.” So funny! And when he asked Callen who he really was, Callen answered with a twinkle in his eye, “I’m Jimmy the Mail Guy.” Then the doctor questions the “Mail Guy’s” medical expertise. The irony of it all was amusing and the dialogue made me laugh. One of my favorite lines came later when Callen told Sam he’d found his New Year’s resolution: he would never go undercover as Jimmy the Mail Guy again. To that Sam responded, “Jimmy the Mail Guy went postal.” Nice one, Sam!
As usual, Callen and Sam worked very well together. Sam showed up just in time to save Callen’s life when the terrorists were about to shoot him and then the two partners came up with a great plan to catch them. I thought it was a smart strategy to plant the phone in front of the empty elevator shaft and make it ring, especially since the terrorists had cut off the phone lines. These two are invincible together.
But their true bond shined when Callen had been exposed to the deadly virus. He immediately thought of everyone else and locked himself in the room to contain the virus. When he started coughing blood, you knew it couldn’t be good. That was one fast-acting virus! But thankfully there was an antidote and when Callen woke up in the hospital, he had some touching moments with Sam. How fitting that the last thing Callen remembered before he fell asleep was Hetty and the first thing he saw when he woke up was Sam. It emphasized how much they care about him. Callen recognizes that and was
appreciative that Sam came to Georgia to be with him while he recovered. That takes a true friend – or family member, as Sam points out. He wasn’t about to let Callen wake up alone. And almost dying proved to be a good wake-up call for Callen as it made him start thinking of his regrets. Though I thought it was a strangely written transition to suddenly talk about things he thought he regretted like Sam’s singing in the car and pretending to like Michelle’s casserole (What? Why would he regret that?), Callen’s real regret was heartfelt and vulnerable and honest. He tells Sam he regrets giving up on believing that he might meet his dad someday. Like a true friend, Sam reassures him that there is still time. I hope this conversation was a foreshadowing of a storyline to come - soon. I think we all would love to see Callen meet his dad. The hints are being dropped and I, for one, am ready for that story.
Kensi and Deeks
I was happy to see that being a couple has not changed the essence of Kensi and Deeks’ great interactions with each other. Sometimes when a series brings a couple together, the characters act differently and you wonder why their personalities seem to have suddenly changed. Of course, these two have been acting like a couple for a while so this step should be natural. But I was happy to see that it was - they still act the same and their banter with each other is still flirty and fun. In fact, it was so seamless I almost forgot they actually were a couple now. (Okay, I said almost). I was also happy to see that their new couple status did not affect their work. Some people have questioned whether being in a relationship would jeopardize their job. After all, Deeks did indeed hold back in “The Frozen Lake,” refusing to pull a trigger when it was necessary because their relationship had changed after they went home from the restaurant together in “Recovery.” After that he became more worried about Kensi’s safety and became more protective of her, and it impinged on his actions and reactions. So it was a legitimate question if that was going to happen again. And I was very happy to see that it didn’t. In fact, I thought they worked very well together. Kensi encouraged Deeks when he needed it (cutting the wires of the bomb) and they both had each other’s backs when they had to sneak around the hostages and then when they tried to beat up the guy with the bomb. They also both allowed each other to take the risks necessary for the situation.
If it wasn’t apparent earlier, by the ending scene, it became obvious that these two were together. (And to me, Deeks’ boldness in some of his statements pointed to a physical relationship as these were the types of things you wouldn’t say unless you were intimate). Oh, the sexual innuendo in that Zen banter - it was so funny! The first meditation conversation earlier in the episode was much more subtle and honestly didn’t sound like sexual innuendo to me. (One thing I loved about that scene, though, was how Kensi could take down Deeks without even opening her eyes!) But I appreciated how the earlier scene set up the ending scene perfectly. I don’t think that Zen dialogue – and the characters’ reactions to it – could have been any better. Each character played his/her part so perfectly. The insinuations behind everything were so amusing. By the time Nell and Eric came into the room and suggested group Zen, I could feel Kensi and Deeks’ shock as the metaphor lingered in the room. I loved the conversation between Kensi and Deeks, and then I enjoyed how Nell and Eric came into it and made it a group conversation, taking it to another level. And the whole conversation transitioned so smoothly into their ending chant. It was all fantastic.
I also don’t want to forget the scene of Deeks hanging out the window to find cell phone/satellite phone coverage. I couldn’t help thinking, “Whoa!” – in a good way. Even Deeks knew how crazy his actions were, telling himself “Yeah, that’s a terrible idea – let’s do that.” (I also loved his “Can you hear me now?” line.) I love scenes that push the limits of what you expect and this one did as he hung out the window way above the city to talk to Nell. I also couldn’t believe that when he first heard voices, he climbed out further. I wouldn’t want to be hanging out the window when those guys came in with guns! Deeks is a crazy one but he does what it takes to get the job done.
Eric and Nell
I was very amused by the scene where Eric and Nell talk about expensive lingerie. She was a real tease, claiming to know all about those “not-$800” panties. Nell really has Eric wrapped around her little finger. It’s so easy for her to render him speechless and she seems to love twisting him into knots. She can pull his strings so easily, but I don’t think he minds one bit. Again, both of their expressions were great in this scene, making it even funnier. Nell seems so buttoned up in her conservative little sweater and skirt outfits that I love it when you see a cheeky side to her. And she definitely has that side.
Other Thoughts
- I loved the security officer’s role in this episode. Sometimes the show emphasizes the main characters so much that the new side characters of the week are diminished and don’t seem really fleshed out and important. But this week was a wonderful and welcome exception. The cop was funny and smart and it was nice to see him trying to help the team. And in turn it was great to see the team interacting with him. It just furthers the story and the audience’s investment when characters like this are written well. In this case his character emphasized the irony behind Callen posing as a mail boy, and he also highlighted Deeks’ goodness and generosity when Deeks took the time to thank the officer for saving everyone’s life. Those kinds of touches really add to the script.
- I thought it was odd that the officer was the only hostage who seemed to notice the NCIS team moving in and out of the room secretly. I know they were all scared, but that shouldn’t make them oblivious to what was going on. No one ever really looked at them!
- The set-up of Deeks’ experience dismantling the bomb was written so well. I loved how we first see Eric mentioning that Deeks took an EOD course at Quantico and Callen questioning how he did. That scene then cuts straight to Kensi reiterating to Deeks that he failed that test. The way it was structured really emphasized the humor. Of course Deeks answers like Deeks and says his test was just practice – he doesn’t really show up until “game day.” I’m glad he has so much confidence in his abilities!
- Did you see how quickly Sam put the terrorist outside the building in a headlock? That man has skills!
- I love that Hetty has lunch meetings in other countries! Leave it to Hetty to meet someone for lunch in Nicaragua.
- When the doctor told the terrorists, “There’s something you need to know,” I guessed she was probably bad. But at other times she was so convincing I forgot about my initial guess. Did you suspect anything?
- I couldn’t figure out who set up the wire that the terrorists tripped to set off an explosion. That felt like a random scene that didn’t make sense to me.
- When the cop recognized the man with the bomb had a limp, I expected that to come into play, but it never really did. Maybe it made it easier for Kensi and Deeks to shove him down an elevator shaft??
- If all the communication signals were jammed, I don’t know how Eric got through to Sam and Callen. And after Deeks came inside from the window, he received a map of the bomb from Nell on his phone. But how did he get that when there had been no signal earlier in that same room?
- Chris O’Donnell always shines in simple, small moments. After Callen was just exposed to the virus and he shuts the door, for a moment his eyes revealed his fear. But he still plowed ahead with what was important, telling Sam to finish the job.
- After all the set-up, I thought the doctor went down too easily. She and the pilot were shot so fast, it felt a little anti-climactic.
- I wish we would have heard Sam sing a little more! LL Cool J has the chops for it so I wish they’d milked that just a little bit longer. It would have been fun to hear him bust out a real song!

Really great episode with nice action.
ReplyDeleteThis was a really fun episode, A tv version of Die Hard. Callen as Jimmy the mail guy was hilarious. I loved how after 2 weeks his boss was ready to promote him. He must have been an awesome mail guy. The fast pace kept the episode moving so there was no lagging. I loved Deeks out on the ledge. As fun as I thought this episode was, I have to say, these were the world's worst terrorists. agents coming and going, roaming around, and on one noticed. really? these guys couldn't hold a brownie troop hostage.
ReplyDeleteChris O'Donnell does more with his expressions and eyes than anyone. he's amazing. I was glad to see Sam when he woke up but wished Joelle had also been there. I really would like to see more of their relationship. There have been a lot of Callen related bread crumbs, i'm looking forward to seeing where they lead.
This was a pretty solid episode overall, though I had a little trouble suspending my disbelief near the end when Callen started coughing up blood mere seconds after being exposed to Spiral. No way a virus could have acted that fast, even if it was more potent than advertised. Aside from that and the few other bits of nitpickery you already pointed out, I enjoyed this episode. The final "group Zen" scene had me in stitches. These guys really have a cheeky and (especially in Deeks' case) inappropriate sense of humor.
ReplyDeleteWhat can I say, this season has been awesome for Callen fans like me. You are right about Chris O'Donnell and the way he handles the small stuff. He is one of the best I've seen at expressing the unspoken moments. I must admit this episode was not good for my blood pressure though :) I absolutely loved the scene with Callen and Sam at the CDC hospital. I wish it would have been a little longer. They could have had LL sing a little more. While I have no problem with the Team Zen scene itself, it seemed a little out of place after the touching moments at the CDC. The episode should have ended with Callen and Sam at the CDC. They could have carried over the Team Zen scene to another episode. Just my opinion.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you liked it! Thanks for commenting.
ReplyDeleteThis season really has been a good Callen season! But funny you point out the episode wasn't good for your blood pressure. Haha. Chris O'Donnell really is wonderful at expressing those unspoken moments. That's a perfect way to put it!! Thanks for leaving your thoughts on what you would have liked as the final episode. That hospital scene was a good one!!
ReplyDeleteI agree about Chris O'Donnel. He's a movie star that is forsure and he does say a lot with the eyes and his expression. I noticed this during last weeks episode when it came to Joelle.
ReplyDeleteWhy does Kensi have to say 'I hate you'? Why can't she just say what she means, especially since she has criticized Deeks on multiple occasions for not saying what he means. Seems to me she's got that backward.
ReplyDeleteI agree that we don't need to see a big change, but a there should be at least some difference. Maybe the writers are in a rut writing the same old same old, and can't portray character growth or relationship evolution.
ReplyDeleteAnother great review, Tonya. You are a consummate professional! I really liked the episode. I enjoyed how the main characters were used in the main plot, and interacted with each other, as you detailed in your review. The main plot this week was sort of hit and miss. I liked the Die Hard style heist, but it feels like there has been a lot of virus stealing and weaponizing recently in TV and movie plots. They tried to give it a twist, but I didn't like it that much. I also thought having the bad guys be an IRA splinter group and having them pretend to be Jihadists also seemed derivative. I'm done complaining, because everything else was great this week.
ReplyDeleteI agree Jay Bird
ReplyDeletelol I hate to say it but when the terrorists started talking in their Irish brogue I became a little suspicious of that red headed doctor.
ReplyDeleteAs usual Chris OD was amazing. That brief flicker of fear as he closed the door was perfect. And I got a lump in my throat when he thanked Sam for being there when he woke up.
I also notice he said he wished he hadn't given up on finding his father some day. I'm really hoping that was a bread crumb from the writers and that more of G's past is coming this season.
I agree with Linda about the Team Zen stuff. It was a real let down after the scene at the CDC. They should have ended with that.
P.S. The scene with Deeks hanging out the window had me holding my breath in places. That was really well done.
I think you're right - that ending likely wouldn't have been the same at 9 pm. I have noticed some differences since they've moved times. I guess they're taking advantage of being able to do more (& use more swearing). Lol. I also liked Kensi's line and Deeks' answer to it. Great point that that is likely the way Kensi would say I love you. Lol. I had forgotten she said that in Frozen Lake. Thanks for the reminder!
ReplyDeleteNice point. She gets on Deeks for not saying what he means - but she does the same thing! Lol. I hadn't thought about that.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Jack! I agree the main plot was sort of hit and miss. Some good stuff with some not-so-great stuff. I hadn't thought about virus stealing and weaponizing being common in TV and movie plots but I think you're right. I also understand what you're saying about the IRA splinter group and them pretending to be Jihadists. With everything going on, it felt like a lot to keep track of and didn't end up being that important. But like you say - everything else was great so we'll take the few bad things with the many good!
ReplyDeleteLol that red hair always gives the Irish away! Good suspicious instincts! ;) And Chris OD WAS great! I really think that line about giving up on his father WAS a bread crumb. I can't wait for more of his past to be revealed!
ReplyDeleteIf two of you so far here wish the CDC scene had been the ending, I'm sure there's more. Thanks for weighing in and leaving your thoughts!
I see what you mean about things having to change a little when they start dating. In fact, they should because the nature of the relationship is changing. I just meant that I don't like how sometimes characters' personalities/natures change when they start dating. They should be the same people, but like you point out, they should be growing. I also understand your thoughts on Deeks in season 5. I'd never thought about it but what you say makes sense to me. He had those feelings before they slept together so his actions shouldn't have changed drastically. And though I felt a little differently, I can see where you're coming from about the sex innuendo jokes mirroring their behavior in past episodes.
ReplyDeleteInteresting thoughts on the last scene. I could see how people could easily think that. It's definitely possible. I can't know for sure. But it's a very interesting theory people have! (If true, somehow it doesn't really bother me, either. I find it kind of amusing.)
Thanks!
Great review Tonya...and I also thought it was unrealistic that nobody...not the hostage takers or the other people being held...ever noticed or even looked up..as first Callen... then Deeks...starting moving around.
ReplyDeleteThat mistake...falls on the director..cuz .If Im a hostage taker...the one thing I don't want..is people moving all over the place and trying to sneak up on me.
Who knows..they were either...the most clueless hostage takers known to man...or...maybe the reason none of the hostages looked up as Callen & Deeks moved about..was because they were instructed not to do so by the director....due to some obscure SAG rule....saying any casting extra that gets their full face on camera..has to get paid a higher day rate.
"- I couldn't figure out who set up the wire that the terrorists tripped to set off an explosion. That felt like a random scene that didn’t make sense to me."
I 'm guessing and just assumed... that trip wire was put there by Sam as he.has an extensive knowledge of bombs & how to defuse/ set them up..
The biggest hint it was Sam...was because earlier in the episode....we see Callen tell Sam...:"Lets go hunting!"
Instead of running away from the bad guys..Sam & Callen.. set traps for them...first with the trip wire...then with the ringing cell phone..outside the empty elevator shaft.
Course..the next question would be..where did Sam get the trip wire??
Perhaps Sam carries a tiny spool of trip wire with him at all times while on the job....just like other people walk around with dental floss on them lol.
I thought the director Larry Teng did a great job with all the action scenes..and the show's homage to "Die Hard".
The only scene that could have been much better..was the one with Deeks hanging outside the building.
That scene..practically screamed for a down shot from Deeks perspective..to give the viewers at home..a bird's eye view and a real sense of fear for Deeks' safety...during his death defying stunt
( Then again.,.. If ECO had worn a GO PRO device on his head....while he was standing outside and looked down..the people who said they felt dizzy watching Deeks...might have needed air sick bags! lol )
I also thought the final scene with all of them on the mat was fantastic. I loved the choice of music ^ the way the camera showed all of them holding hands & omm'ing away.
Following the heart warming scene with Callen & Sam at the CDC center,. showing the rest of the team together back at work...reminded me..that not only is the team close friends and a family..but they are all friends and like a family..in real life also.
I'm curious Tonya.....did anybody ever reply... that they also.noticed that bad word starting with the letter F... scrawled on the walls of that school from a few episodes ago?
I'm asking... because recently while watching the deleted scene from The Frozen Lake on the S5 DVD set . I put on the English subtitles..and during the cut scene..we see Kensi and Deeks walking together in Ops....and Kensi asks Deeks ..what is he looking at...
In the vocals...Deeks clearly says..."Same shirt that I was looking at last night!" but in the subtitle...it was written as..
." Same sh#t that I was looking at last night!"
As Craig Ferguson might say..."AYE CARUMBA!!! lol
Somebody at CBS...has a potty mouth/finger.....or... they need to hire somebody to proof read their TV shows & DVD disks... ASA !@#$ P....before they go out to the general public!!
.
I was surprised & a tad confused... by your comment about Deeks sudden desire to jump in front and protect Kensi...now that they have slept together..
ReplyDeleteDeeks has always tried to protect Kensi and shield her from harm...long before S5 and the events prior to The Frozen Lake.
As far back as S2...we see Deeks put his own health & life on the line and at risk.....to protect Kensi..
In Personal ..the episode when Deeks is shot...he crawls out of his hospital bed..and goes downstairs and shoots the bad guy ..right before they can kill Kensi......after Deeks realizes the baddies..were really after Kensi all along.....and not him.
Later that same season..in the episode called... Deliverance...( S2-10 which I believe you were referring too)... Kensi was taken hostage and held in a room with booby trapped red laser beams.
Before Kensi was taken hostage and driven away....there is a Mexican stand off between Deeks & Kensi and 4 heavily armed bad guys.
The baddies order Kensi to get in their car.,,,but Deeks tells them ...she's not going anywhere....and to take him instead...
When Deeks later finds Kensi..she's in the room lined with explosives..and .instead of running to get help...Deeks stayed with Kensi..despite the fact.that one wrong move on either of their " parts".. ( Deeks part...being his handly laser pointing gun ,,, and in Kensi's case...her sexy lady parts )....could blow them both to Kingdom Come.
Anyway..those are just 2 examples..of Deeks foregoing his own personal well being and safety...to try and protect Kensi.
As for how they were acting towards one another in Spiral....I read that this episode was filmed... before the events of Humbug...so..that fact might have played a small part in how they related to one another.in this episode.
As for the metaphors in the episode.....I've read other people say.....they just thought that was the writer of Spiral....Dave Kalstein.......making fun of himself a little..while also messing with the fans..who complained about all the metaphor heavy episodes he wrote concerning Densi in S5.
That's the way I saw it myself..and .I didn't think he was trying to mock the fans in anyway
I see it really..as a good thing & a positive sign...because it tells me.. that the powers that be on NCIS:LA...actually listen & pay attention to what the fans of the show...write and think about the show & their efforts.
One case where it shows they listen to the fans..is the fact that Kensi has not punched Deeks once ..so far this season.
Many fans expressed their displeasure after seeing Kensi punching Deeks in The Frozen Lake and other episodes over the length of the show.
After we witnessed Kensi doing that often to Deeks over the past 5 seasons..I find it no mere coincidence...she suddenly stopped this season.
. .....
..
...
You make a good point that Deeks was always protective of Kensi, but she never objected to it before Frozen Lake. So it was her attitude that changed, not his. That makes sense.
ReplyDeleteI didn't expect to see much change in their professional interactions, because they are after all both professionals.
The change I hoped and expected to see was more in their verbal interactions - less oneupmanship from Kensi, less passive resistance from Deeks. The banter (such as it was) in this episode had a very competitive quality to it, and I had hoped for a more together, us-against-the-world vibe.
Jaybird...I also hope in the very near future... to see Deeks & Kensi have that...us-against-the-world vibe and treat each other..differently..better.and more lovingly...now that their a couple.
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing we should see the change..in upcoming episodes..as Spiral was filmed before Humbug.. and maybe that fact. was the biggest reason..they didn't treat each other any differently than before the exciting Densi developments seen in Humbug.
One small way the writers could show us.the change in Deeks and Kensi's status... is if they had Deeks stop calling Kensi......"Part-ner".
Sigh....If I had a dollar..for ever time Deeks called Kensi that......I'd easily be a thousandaire by now....as he has literally used that word in greeting or to describe Kensi to others.....a zillion times in the 5 plus years the show has been on the air...
.Personally...I'm .tired & bored of hearing that word..and the way ECO says it with his emphasis on the PART ner part!!..lol
( I kinda cringed & groaned... when I heard Deeks say.." What's up partner?" when Kensi showed up in the gym as Deeks was working out.) .
Please...call Kensi anything but that from now on.........Kens...Kensalina...Fern...Sunshine..Honey..Wifey...Esmeralda... My sweet.. anything else.....but Part-ner!!!! :)
I never saw Deeks jump on top of Kensi to protect her until after he slept with her. Maybe you can give me an example but I have seen every episode more than once and have never seen him do that til the episode in the hotel
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed this episode, one of my favorites so far of this season.
ReplyDeleteI was so glad Callen expressed the Two most important people in his life: Hetty and Sam.
No mention of Joelle, YEAH!!!! (Admit I am late reading this review and your review of Humbug but I was so amazed on how 180° my view of Callen's reaction, which to me was No Reaction to her life being put in danger, to yours was! Plus other reviewers comments. Callen definitely deserves love but Joelle is So Not the Woman for him!!!)
Glad you enjoyed the episode and Callen affirming the importance of Hetty & Sam in his life. Many times we all have different reactions/interpretations of the same thing, which I think reflects life and how we all see different things. So thanks for leaving your opinions on what you enjoyed and thought. :)
ReplyDeleteOkay, I’m a week late & a dollar short. Lol. You’ll have to
ReplyDeleteforgive me. Love your thoughts on why none of the hostages looked up – maybe it
was a SAG rule. He he.
I also guessed maybe the trip wire was put by there by Sam &
Callen but it was weird since we never saw them do it (and like you say, where
did Sam get it?). But I see the connection you mention in the comment: “Let’s
go hunting.” I wouldn’t have thought hunting meant wires, but what do I know?
I loved the action scenes, too, and thought they were directed
well. I like your idea of a down shot, though, while Deeks was hanging. That
really would have been nice!! Great idea.
Thanks for your thoughts on the last scene and the order of the
last couple scenes and what it said to you.
No one ever replied they noticed the F word on the wall a few
episodes back. But that’s hilarious about what you noticed on the DVD set. OMG.
Craziness!
Do you know I never realized that Kensi hadn't been punching Deeks at all this season until you mentioned it? Thanks for that awareness. That is indeed very interesting and shows they do listen to the fans (when they want to, haha). I also like your take on the metaphors. :)
ReplyDeleteFlirty Nell is fun, isn't she? "That cheeky side of Nell's character...is way more fun to watch.....,.than when Nell is being super serious and trying to do her best impression..of a slightly taller version of Hetty." Oh my gosh, that is hilarious! Interesting what you saw in the trip wire scene on slow motion. I never noticed. Thanks!
ReplyDeletelol Course..now that I've mentioned Kensi hasn't done any non sparring punching of Deeks in S6...there will be an episode soon...where she will be seen punching poor Deeks black n blue and non stop...just so the writers can remind us..their in charge of the show...not the fans! :)...
ReplyDeleteWhen I heard Kensi correcting Deeks.,.after Deeks told Kensi he liked her metaphors and Kensi told him it was an allegory...I felt like maybe that was Dave Kalstein having fun with the fans who said they disliked his use of the racoons mating for life in reference to Densi.
My assumption is... he was just gently teasing & poking back at fans...by telling us that the racoon story was an allegory..not a metaphor.
If fans can feel free to rib him for his use of metaphors/allegories.....I think it's only fair..that Dave be allowed to rib us back...
lol All is forgiven Tonya and like they say ..."Better late than never!" :)
ReplyDeleteI'm just glad to see your back...cuz truth be told...your the straw that stirs the drinks on this board.....and when your not around and M.I.A...things can get awfully quiet in here!
I had erased the episode with the F word ...but I found it on You Tube..and you could clearly see a 4 letter word starting with an F... written on the walls of the abandoned school..
Going into full...Eric & Nell in Ops mode..( clearly...I have way too much free time on my hands!!! lol) ..I freeze framed the scene with the offending word.....and I think how the person responsible for writing it...got around the CBS censors was because they had substituted an e...inplace of where the c is normally found...
... its very subtle ..but the letter changed worked.....cuz when you watch the scene at normal speed..it clearly looks like the inFamous bad word..we all know and sometimes love!!
Guess they just never expected a sharp eyed viewer like yourself..to catch them trying to be naughty ...so close to Christmas!! lol :)
.
